Well,I've read all the M/M books in this series and this is definitely my favourite to date.
I would say READ THE WARNING in the blurb because this is definitely the most risky.

Grim is a nomadic biker attached to the Coffin Nails MC .He's a dark character, thinks nothing of killing people but the kill must be justified.
Now Grim has a certain kind of fetish and let's just say only a certain kind of man does it for him......
(I've certainly never read,or even heard, about this fetish before and actually found it quite fascinating in understanding his desires)

Misha is a truly broken soul.He has been captive in the sex slave industry for 4 years and has been forced into certain acts for the online porn industry.
When Grim is involved in a raid for the club he comes across Misha and cannot believe the object of his obsession is in front of him.He takes Misha....but is Misha swapping one form of captivity for another??

All Grim wants is to take care of Misha and give him a perfect life.
Misha has his doubts....does Grim only want him because of his flaws, the way other men did.
I simply adored these two men together.Although Grim was a violent man and by his own admission, possibly a psychopath,he was so protective and caring towards Misha.
All Misha wants is for someone to look past his physical appearance and want him for the person he is.

As usual, these Authors don't hold back but I wouldn't have their books any other way.
Definitely NOT a fluffy M/M story but one I really enjoyed......

This book is absolutely outstanding. A very unusual but exceedingly epic love story.

Grim is really, really sexy. I admire his confidence and self-assuredness. I also truly enjoy his softer side. He savors cuddling and being intimate with the love of his life. He is extremely gentle with Misha. It’s great to have a guy like Grim who is so OUT. He does not suffer homophobes.

The sexual connection is breathtaking—off-the-charts amazing. All of the scenes are different and hot. Excellent, with incredible and vivid detail. They talk about preparation and going bareback and rimming. And they use the right words!

This book never feels like it’s a man with another man who could just as easily be a woman if his name and gender were changed. This is decisively two gay men—a breath of fresh air in what can often be a stale genre.

I relish the contrast between Grim’s violence and his protectiveness towards Misha. He is an especially patient man. Grim risks his life multiple times to save Misha.

The date night in Mississippi is awesome. Misha is empowered by Grim, not reduced; and he’s healing.

The fighting and action sequences are stellar. The ending is both beautiful and happy.

It is astonishingly brave of the authors to write seriously about someone with ASPD. They handle the topic with poise and veracity. It’s fantastic to have representation of ASPD that is not a fetishized characterization.

I must further praise the authors for portraying us accurately and depicting us as we are. This is my first read of any of their material, and I am inspired to explore their body of work.

“you’re mine now. i’m not gonna let anyone else have you.” 🖤

well... this was quite the experience.

i never imagined that i would read a romance book that deals with acrotomophilia and actually enjoy it, but here we are.

oh Grim… 🥰😍 sure, he’s a little creepy, but in like the best way. he’s definitely one of the most caring and protective psychopaths i’ve ever encountered in a book.

“Grim could be so vicious, so cruel and unrelenting, yet with him, he was gentle. like a pet puma, ready to maul anyone but its master.”

Grim was super possessive and obsessive over Misha from the very beginning, but he was also very sweet in his own way. he clearly would have done anything to make Misha happy to be with him.

“you’re very sweet for a man who flays people.”

and okay, yeah, sure, Misha might seem ungrateful or bratty at times, especially at the beginning, but WHO can blame him? poor guy was a captive for years, and has a truly unmeasurable amount of trauma. all Misha really wants is some actual freedom. he didn’t want to become Grim’s plaything, just to get his protection. but as things happened, and they started to get to know each other, Misha learned quite quickly that Grim can be very convincing and actually very easy to love.🥰

“i want you to need me as much as i need you.”

“i’m gonna keep you safe even in your dreams.”

the fetish (acrotomophilia) might seem quite out there for most people, but the way it was approached here was actually pretty great overall in my opinion.

“Grim had proven time and time again how much he would sacrifice for Misha. but was it because he actually had feelings for him, or was it because Misha was the perfect sexual outlet for Grim’s fetish?”

i admit, it did seem like Grim looked at Misha as purely his ultimate fetish coming to life at the beginning. i was feeling a little conflicted over the whole situation. however, as time went on, and we learned more about Grim’s past, his fetish and the way it could have developed for him started to make more sense.

i liked the way Grim’s perception and the overall way of how he looked at Misha and his disability changed. i really started to actually root for them once i saw those slight changes in Grim.

Grim was just SO fucking sweet at times, it was hard not to like him. the way he called Misha “bird” or “baby bird” or “birdie” or “my sweet birdie”…🙈 so cute!!!

ALSO!! their first “date” was so romantic! 😍🤣 gotta love those bloody & violent first dates, where you beat the shit out of a homophobe and rob his house. truly the best kind of date.😌

anyways, Misha and Grim are clearly just perfect for each other. they definitely both had to go through lots of terrible shit to get their HEA, but in the end, it was all worth it.

”you made me feel alive again. you made me want to be alive.” 🖤

why just 3 stars? well, this did get a teeny tiny bit boring for me towards the end. it took me a couple of days to pick the book back up and actually finish it once i put it down. but this is still a pretty good and entertaining read overall!

All the stars. All the stars for this book! Because it pushed my boundaries and messed with my head, but at the same time, it made me sympathize with characters I would never want to meet in real life. Because it made me root for a love story that is so out of the norm. But most of all, because it reminded me of all the reasons I'm such a devoted fan of K.A.Merikan.

Pay attention to the blurb. It does a great job summarizing the story, and I don't want to spoil the plot by rehashing it. And pay attention to the warnings!

Grim is definately the creepiest and most complex character I 've ever read. Watching him interracting with Misha, how gentle and loving he was, I would have never guessed that this slick and clean-cut guy, is actually an assassin. A killer who takes great pleasure in torturing his victims and bathing himself with their blood. In fact, I believe he was the most considerate lover in the series.

He just has um.....particular tastes, and the authors took full advantage of it. Again, pay attention to the tags. I admit that the fetish here, took me completely out of my comfort zone. But I rolled with it, because Grim did a good job explaining how it worked for him, and because I don't like to judge people's kinks.

Being inside Misha's head was heartbreaking. I think his doubts and thoughts were very realistic. Does Grim see him as just a fetish? Does he love him for who he is, or for what he lost? The journey from just sexual attraction or help to survive to true love, is portrayed beautifuly.

Their connection and chemistry is off the charts, and the sex scenes are way dirtier than what I'm used to.

No one writes action scenes like K.A.Merikan. I mean it. The last 20% of the book was a movie and I was part of it. It took me back to that brilliant and magnificent morgue scene in "The Devil's Ride" , only it was ten times better. Long and suspensful, but fast paced, vivid and very detailed. Amazing setting and sense of place too.

This book also reminded me of something else. Sometimes I get lost in the story, the sex scenes, the action, the plot twists and the funny moments, and I tend to forget what it was that pulled me to these authors in the first place. It's the writing. No doubt, K.A.Merikan are very powerful storytellers.

I admit having a hard time with the explicit torture scenes. I had to take a minute to breathe afterwards.

Do I recommend this book? Absolutely. To those who are not afraid to step out of the box. And to those that want a love story strong and intense, gritty and raw.

Not for the faint of heart. Not if you want a fluffy and sweet romance story. And definately not if you don't believe that love can be found in the most horrible places, by the most horrible people.

*4.5* This is going to be a difficult story to review. Not because the writing wasn’t good, but because I have a sensitive, mushy heart that wants only good things to happen to my book characters.

✔️Abducted Russian dark web expert, sex slave, and amputee
✔️Vegetarian MC enforcer with a fetish for amputees, violence/blood
✔️MM steamy slow burn (but not too slow)
✔️Ends with hea
✔️Can be read as a standalone
✔️Expect HEART and sensitivity...and violence
✔️Read and reread those TW before starting

I've never read a book like this before. (Huge thanks to my friend Dan for recommending this one to me!)

I love stories that take me out of my comfort zone, and make me look at the world with different eyes. This story certainly did that. Did I find this incredibly uncomfortable at times? YES. But it wasn't gruesome just for shock value. I felt like every plot point had a specific reason, so it didn't read like torture porn.

Grim (30s?) wants what he wants, he reminded me of a bull. Huge, stubborn, but when you scratch his chin, he immediately melts and wants to cuddle. When he first meets Misha it’s like every holiday wish wrapped up in one has come true! Grim has very particular desires.

Misha (22) Misha broke my heart. I won’t spoil the story, but in his short life, he’s experienced the absolute WORST of human depravity. Horrifically used and abused for the pleasure of others.

Grim and Misha are well developed characters. Wounded in very different ways and stumbling around trying to figure out how to communicate with each other. These were my absolute favorite parts of this story. The communication!!!

Misha explains how he feels being objectified. It takes time, but Grim slowly begins to see him as more than just his disability. Misha has been an object for others for many years, so this is a giant step for him feeling safe enough to be honest. Grim has also been objectified, for reasons most men would love to have. Although, there is such a thing as too big.

I really LOVED these two together.
They were a perfect match. They understood one another and mended each other’s wounds in a way no one else could.
There were some slight issues here and there, but overall, I really liked the character growth and development. The end almost broke me! Grim was THE BEST and everything he did was for his Misha.

* Rambly thoughts with slight spoilers below*

This story made me think about why we are attracted to certain people, and is it ok if that attraction is based on a purely physical attribute? What if Grim had met Misha before he was an amputee? Would Grim have even looked at him twice? I sympathized so much with Misha and his internal dialogue and struggle with his relationship with Grim. He’s been abused for so long, how can he trust anyone ever? Was Grim's kink and attraction to amputees only because of his childhood? Was he a psychopath? Is his behavior something he was born with or some thing that grew from a horrific tragedy?

Oh my god, you do not even want to know how much Grim aggravated me. He was dumb as rocks, manipulative as all hell, deluded to the point of no return, pushy in a way that was definitely close to being rapey, incapable of any sympathy whatsoever, and he was generally just a majorly selfish creep.

And don’t even get me started on the weird fetish he had for helpless amputees, because I definitely didn’t like that one bit either.
His affections for Misha never seemed to truly get past the point of his fetish, and he constantly acted entitled to Misha’s body merely because he “saved” the boy.

Grim was unfortunately nothing more than an over-dramatic and narcissistic boyfriend, whereas I was hoping he would be a selflessly loving or genuinely devoted one.
All in all, I can honestly say that there wasn’t anything between these two other than ‘sex and mayhem’.

Also, why on earth did this need to have the dead ex-boyfriend trope again? When will authors finally learn how freaking awful it is?

The best thing about not reading blurbs is that everything is a surprise. Yesterday, I just checked the genre or what this book is shelved as to get a picture on what I'm reading. Boy oh boy, I wasn't ready! I don't want to sound ableist but I feel off and iffy with what was presented before my eyes in the earlier chapters. Then I researched things about it because I can't stand myself being not well-versed nor somehow educated and then eventually made peace with it.

The whole story was dark, gruesome and twisted. I could say that it pushed all of my buttons and my tolerance to certain things. Romance was unusual to me but learned to love and yearn for it anyway. These author duo gave me something that I wouldn't come up on my own. Reading this was an experience.

This book was amazing! Sometimes it was scary AF, but I loved it!!!

Misha is a tormented young man who's been scarred beyond repair. He cannot trust anyone. His life seems destroyed for good, BUT Grim is changing everything for him. He gives him confidence and what he needed the most: REVENGE!
He is such a broken character. I ached so much for his horrible past and all the years he was abused! But Grim saved him in so many ways!!

Grim/ Logan is a blood thirst assassin, with a very different kink. He's attracted to a specific kind of men and he isn't afraid to admit it. Everyone knows his particular taste in men.

What a disturbing plot! I must admit it took me by surprise.

I am not sure I can write a good review for this book. I don't think I can do it justice.
Not sure I can describe everything this book made me feel. One of the things I have to admit is that I am in love with the authors Kate and Agnes AKA K.A. Merikan. Their writing it so amazing!!! You get to LIVE each story, each moment as the action is revealed. And this book has some soul wrenching scenes.

This is the bloodiest I've read by them. It made me ache for the characters, but it was way more than I expected. Better! So much action and suspense!

I've read this right after the ninth book in the series, Heart Ripper: Coffin Nails MC and that one was sweeter then I expected. It left me with dreamy eyes. But then I dived right in this BLOODY thriller. To say I was not ready, it's an understatement!

I'm sure this book is difficult to digest, so read carefully all the POSSIBLE SPOILERS in the book's presentation.

Nope. This one was just not for me.

I can do with some fetishes in the world. I can think “No judgement, dude!”, and move on.

But this one got me REALLY disturbed. I just wanted to skip some scenes.

I have to admit, Kat and Agnes Merikan have f*cking twisted minds though. Holy sh*t. How can you even think of something like this? Amazing!

Buddy read with Ele! Glad I don't have to read this one alone....

4.5 Stars

Well, if that wasn't one of the most creepy, unsettling reads I've had in awhile. I was more than a little apprehensive to read this, but let's be real -- it's KA Merikan; I'm gonna read it. These women made me love Dom and Seth, in Guns n' Boys, in spite of the blood, gore, and a certain flexible morality. I trust them to take me on a journey that I will ultimately enjoy, as uncomfortable as it may be. I'm not entirely ok with this. But, I have accepted it. And, yeah, they succeeded.

Grim is, hands down, the creepiest MC I've read. It's like he isn't quite human, but rather wearing a human suit. He seems so uncertain as to how he should act in normal interpersonal situations. It's kind of cute watching him struggle. Give him someone to kill and he is in his element. Give him someone to love and he practically flails like a drowning man. Grim is a man of very singular tastes, when it comes to sexual partners. He likes them incomplete. Helpless. Not because he wants to hurt them, mind you, but it's the only way he can really feel useful and needed. As much as he enjoys violence and killing those that deserve it, he also has a massive protective streak when it comes to the helpless. Oh, he doesn't eat mammals, either. He is a study of contradictions.

Misha was taken captive several years ago and sold as a sex slave. He's spent years being forced to make porn for a particular niche market - those whose kinks include amputees. I just can't even. He's rescued by Grim, but when Misha doesn't automatically want to fall into bed with him, Grim doesn't know how to handle it. Misha doesn't trust easily. He knows that there are "freaks" out there that only see his disability and that some people get off on it makes him ill. He just wants someone to see him.

In fact, wanting someone to see and like them for who they are is something they have in common. Grim is used to being seen as someone who has a big dick. Abnormally big. No one sees him. So, though it takes a bit of time, both Misha and Grim start to really see each other as more than their physical uniqueness. And they are, interestingly enough, quite compatible, because they are both also a bit nuts and both more than determined to see each other through to the end. And with someone very powerful still after Misha, they have their work cut out for them.

And, like with other KA Merikan books, His Favorite Color is Blood is smokin' hot. I was uncomfortable with Grim's particular kink - not because amputees don't deserve love - it was just weird to me to be so turned on by the amputation rather than the person. But to each his own. Grim wasn't exactly a normal guy.

So, buckle up, kids. His Favorite Color is Blood will be a bumpy and uncomfortable ride, but if you like these authors and their gritty, no-holds-barred writing, you won't be disappointed with this one.

Before I continue with this review I want to make it clear that this book contains explicit scenes of rape, sex slavery, torture, murder, violence and sexual acts involving an amputee. If any of these are triggers for you or you may find the subject matter offensive, you should not read this book.

However, if the above only peaks your curiosity and you enjoy darker reads, you will be treated to a beautiful, if a little twisted, romance between two men with deep seated issues.

Misha has been mutilated by a man only known as Zero and sold into sex slavery. He spends his days in a closed off basement performing sexual acts and being violated by strangers for devotees on the internet. His entire world view has been warped from only knowing fear and survival for most of his young life. It’s in this basement of depravity where Grim finds him during a raid.

Grim has a fetish for amputees and when he recognizes Misha from his show on the internet and realises under what circumstances he was kept, he takes Misha from captivity and vows to give him a better life. But nothing goes as planned as Misha still has a lot of issues to overcome and the threat of Zero is ever present.

This is my favorite K.A. Merikan novel to date. I absolutely ADORED these two characters. Misha was endearingly scared and vulnerable but also had an inner strength and sense of independence which I found admirable – he certainly had no qualms about putting Grim in his place. Grim is a sadist who enjoys torturing and murdering his victims but he is also capable of great emotion and watching this stone cold killer being turned into goo by this broken boy was highly enjoyable. Their connection was epic and I thought these two polar opposites were absolutely perfect for each other.

As is their style, K.A. Merikan does not shy away from the more disturbing details and although some of the sex in this book had me slightly uncomfortable and more than a little weirded out, it was still very hot and extremely erotic. The authors did a fantastic job of exploring the emotions of these two characters and I quickly grew to love both of them.

Misha slowly comes into himself and secrets from Grim’s past are unveiled and while their relationship only grows stronger, so does the threat from Zero. Zero is sick and rotten to the core. A singularly hateful man who had me channelling my inner Grim with fantasies of how this disgusting human being would meet his untimely end.

The action came hard and fast and with plenty of violence. His Favorite Color Is Blood had me glued to my seat until the nail-biting finish. If you enjoy darker, more disturbing reads, I highly recommend picking this up.

Argh, I typed a review that summed up everything i wanted to say and then the bloody tablet froze and I lost it. Grrrrrr!!

Take two.

Amazing! I absolutely loooovvvvveeeedddd this one!! I think it was so much more than I was expecting! I started reading this knowing it would be dark and kinky, which it absolutely was, but it was done in a way I wasn't anticipating. It was also very sweet.

Grim is absolutely devoted to Misha and is absolutely Mishas hero in the story, he just happens to do his rescuing through maiming and torturing the bad guys, all with a smile on his face. Really Misha was just as twisted as Grim, but at least it was formed through being a victim for 5 years, not a 'natural' characteristic.

One of my favourite aspects of this book was Mishas development. I was not expecting Misha to find the amputee fetish so disturbing and by extension Grim, there was a fair amount of trust to overcome to love Grim. It was quite amusing watching how Grim developed *ahem* grew up, he was like a child throwing tantrums when he couldn't touch Misha in the beginning. He got better as he understood Mishas past and started seeing the 'real' Misha.

As true Merikan fashion the sex is extremely hot and kinky, I won't go into detail, but if you're prepared for an eggplant sized dick and stump licking, you'll be just fine ;-)

Definitely one of my favourites of the series and a definite reread!!!

Wow! Still trying to put my mind back together after that ending!

 photo image_zpsiqdctxe0.jpeg

Grim is an assassin. A really Hot assassin. He's also really quite creepy and a bit of a narcissist.

I think I might be a psychopath.

He longs to find someone to love that will love him back. Someone with (without?) certain attributes.

Misha has been through Hell! He's been aided in escaping after being locked up and used for years. Grim is his savior in a leather skeleton mask. But is he just like all the other devotees? Not seeing the person behind the imperfections?

The attraction between them is undeniable. Both are finally getting a shot at something they've never had. Trying to work through all the shit in the past.

You don't want my cock. You want me, don't you?

This book was a topic that I can honestly say made me feel creeped out at first. I felt strongly for both characters. Their histories and feeling were so well written that I was crying at times. Crying for an assassin you say? Hell Yes!!

The ending? Nail-biting on the edge of my seat high quality action!!

I want to thank the authors for giving me the chance to read and review this book before it comes out.

tw: dubcon/non-con, torture, human trafficking, violence, abuse (past)

“Grim nodded, pressing his nose into the crevice between Andrey’s eyes and nose. He’d wear Andrey’s hide on his body if it didn’t mean that Andrey would suffer and die because of it. He’d glove his hands with Andrey’s and experience every fragment of that soft skin from the inside.”

— m/m dark romance, thriller
— kidnapping
— disability kink
— dubcon/non-con
— hurt/comfort
— redemption arc
— steamy

This is not your typical romance. Prepare yourself for some really dark material. Amputee kink. Abuse. Trafficking. Torture. Violence. Gore.

Characters
Grim is an assassin for an outlaw motorcycle club. He loves killing and gets a rush from torturing bad guys while at it. Misha aka Andrey is an amputee who’s been held captive for five years and forced to perform porn.

Plot
Grim meets Misha when the Coffin Nails (MC) orders a hit at the compound of an organized crime syndicate where Misha’s been held captive. Grim is a devotee of amputee porn and Misha’s number one fan. He rescues/kidnaps Misha who is traumatized after suffering unspeakable brutality.

Relationship
Grim’s and Misha’s relationship reflects a jarring power imbalance. Captor/captive. Assassin/amputee. Big, powerful, lone wolf Grim. Small, vulnerable, dependent Misha. I won’t provide any spoilers but their relationship is not a case of Stockholm Syndrome. Grim is obsessed with Misha’s stumps and his fetishization makes for uncomfortable reading. He’s oblivious and insensitive to Misha’s discomfort at the beginning of their relationship. But his obsession and possessiveness morph into more as Misha’s disability arouses a sense of protectiveness and tenderness. With time, he becomes Misha’s savior, avenger, and fiercest, sweetest guard dog.

“You’re very sweet for a man who flays people.”

Misha wants to be seen as a person and not just an amputee. He’s been an object of lust because of his stumps, which are a daily reminder of his past abuse. I liked Misha. He’s resilient and unbowed despite his trauma and living in constant terror of Zero (psychopathic leader of the syndicate). Misha’s feisty attitude and snarkiness lighten what could otherwise be an unremitting case of victimhood. Their sexual relationship evolves slowly since Misha is not surprisingly gun-shy. The smut is hot, but I couldn’t get into it because of the kink.

“You’re mine now. I’m not gonna let anyone else have you.”
The warm brush of Grim’s breath on Misha’s nape felt comforting rather than threatening, and Misha let himself forget that he was so incomplete and that he would never walk. When they lay down next to each other, it didn’t matter. He could see himself wanted for his smile, his pretty face, even for his cock, ass or a lean, flat stomach, but not just the stumps.”

So was I glad I read it? Yes, because it pushed my boundaries. It’s entertaining and gripping if you can handle the trigger warnings. The middle of the second half dragged a bit, but things picked up again at the end.

“So you’re saying that you domesticated me? My boys would have a good laugh.”
Misha moved his hands to Grim’s nape. “Still a wolf.”
Grim looked at Misha with a tenderness taking hold of his throat. “And a wolf will always protect his bitch.”
Misha swallowed and pulled him down for a kiss. “I shouldn’t like hearing that, but I do.”
“You’re not just a bitch. You’re my bitch. There’s a difference,”

*** Shocking ! Sexual ! Amazing ! *** These two authors are amazing when they write a story of this depth. The fabulous characters leap off the pages, they bury themselves in your heart, and then take you for a rollercoaster ride. Whew ! I can't start another book, because I need to keep soaking the intensity, rethinking the scenes and breathe. Grim opens this tale with a flashback from his youth. It's crucial to this tale.
Big, badass, Grim, is tough, deep, full of mayhem and torture.

His kink is new to me; amputee devotion.

Misha was kidnapped, maimed and placed in sex slavery.
He's been locked up, performing for computer porn sites.
In a Coffin Nails raid, Grim finds beautiful Misha and claims him.

This tale is deeply emotional, brutal in it's details, yet caring and loving when it comes to these two men trying finding peace in each other.

An evil lurks, pasts are revealed, and the future seems hopeless. The books in this series each stand alone, but we do get to see past people from the Motorcycle Club again. So well written, totally interesting, extremely violent, but heartwarming in its own way !
I highly recommend this book. You will be stunned and amazed. ENJOY !!
======================================
Be sure to read the book synopsis, hard violence, hard sex, explicitness, raw and powerful characters, an exceptional tale for this series. HEA.

Nice and twisted, with less of the obnoxiousness that was so prevalent in #7. There were things I liked about the last one, but it was almost too much at times. This one struck a different nerve, and the characters were endearingly weird.

4/5.
"Grim looked up at him and slowly rose, leaning inside the car as he nuzzled Misha’s face. “It probably will.” Misha swallowed, put his hands on Grim’s cheeks, and pulled him into a kiss he so desperately needed. “But you will be with me.” Grim’s breath trembled as he pressed his lips against Misha’s. “Every step of the way, my sweet bird.”

His Favorite Color Is Blood is the Grindhouse-film bloody-and-hot book from Merikan's talented hands. They weave together a tale of obsession, dependency, and devotion between Grim and Misha. Grim, an older biker who kills people for a living, and Misha, a trafficked and abused Russian man who was tortured, including the loss of his legs.

The relationship between Misha and Grim starts out rocky - Grim's lust and fetish being the focus, and Misha having to depend on him for survival although all he wants is his own autonomy. He realizes he can't do it alone for multiple reasons, and Grim is always there to help him. Grim has no problem being the only person for Misha to rely on, to fulfill every role he needs to, devoted to him from the moment they meet. This has to deal with no only his unique tastes but his own past and attachment. Both Grim and Misha are damaged people, and yet they find their way in slotting together. It isn't easy - from mixed messages, sexual endeavors, the push and pull, and Misha struggling with his PTSD. Yet they get through it and figure it out, coming together through thick and thin. I love how obsessive, yet gentle and devoted, Grim was to Misha. It's dark and it twisted yet they exist for each other, with Grim being Misha's hero. Misha excepts every messy and broken part of Grim, and Grim gives his bird the wings to fly. This entire journey is stained with blood but it is worth it.

As far as the story itself, it was definitely a gory action movie, with immoral and morally ambiguous characters and filled with tension and outside angst. Misha's situation doesn't end with a rescue, and they both work together to reckon with mistakes made, and take down someone sadistic and dangerous, saving others who are impacted as well. There is a lot of uncensored violence in this, so if you aren't prepared for that, this might not be the book for you. However, there is no sadomasochism between the MCs. Merikan works well with a formula where things seem to settle around 50% and then roar back up again with tension and new developments. Hang on with the journey, because the epilogue gives you everything you need to assure that Grim and Misha are alright.

4.5 stars for this gritty gem ! I really enjoyed this. It was dark, harsh and not for the squeamish 😮. I actually would’ve loved more of these two, they deserved some happy. There was a unique twist to this, I haven’t read any amputee fetish before and it would have never have interested me, but hey, KA always have a twist to their storylines and this was no exception. Loved it

Wow.....the kink...there was a lot in this book....new stuff that I've not come across before and I've read a lot of kinky books. What I really love about K.A. Merikan is that they never ever hold back, some of the stuff is really cringeable at times and my eyes were popping out of my head but after a while you sort of become used to it, although to be honest I wouldn't have wanted anyone looking over my shoulder while I was reading this book.

It was great to catch up with Tooth and Lucky, they were always my favourite couple, although Grim and Misha have definitely pipped them to the post, they are such an amazing couple of guys. Very very hot but also really sweet with each other and willing to do anything for the other. After everything they have both been through in the past I'm glad they found their happy ending, they deserve it.

Possibly the best one yet

This book is an adrenaline rush through some of the more horrific parts of life - the darkness which unfortunately exists to fuel sick and twisted desires.
Misha was kidnapped and forced into a life of horror when he was only 17 and has been in a living Hell for five years.

Grim is the Coffin Nails assassin, a Nomad who carries out the jobs the various chapters of the motorcycle club want doing when there's trash needs cleaning out. He's hard and powerful, dangerous, gay. And he hates homophobes.

Grim also has an unusual fetish, he's an amputee devotee, he finds people with missing limbs fascinating and when he inadvertently rescues Misha during a Louisiana chapter raid on traffickers, he finds his own little broken bird.

This book is as brutal as all the others in the series but, bizarrely, it also has some of the most tender and loving moments. I've been waiting for Grim's story since he was first introduced and it didn't disappoint.

I loved this book, I loved how Misha slowly learnt to trust in Grim, that he loved him and not just his broken limbs, and how Grim realised that it was more than just his stumps that made Misha perfect for him.

But it's not for everyone. It has some truly horrific moments, the subject matter it deals with is beyond revolting to even think about and the knowledge this world is real makes my stomach turn.

These are not hearts and flowers romances but they are love stories and these two authors are masters of their craft.

Gritty. Raw. Intense. Bloody. Unrestrained.

Overall: 5 stars
Performance: 5 stars
Story: 5 stars

Written by K.A. Merikan
Narrated by Wyatt Baker

In His Favorite Color is Blood , K.A.Merikan explores a kink that isn't frequently talk about it ; and it's done in a respectful, interesting and loving way.

I enjoyed reading and listening to this extraordinary dark tale. In a world of cookie cutter approach to Motorcycle Club romance , these authors give you the uninhibited, unadulterated and violent , real deal.

Wyatt Baker delivered a brilliant performance. He nailed Misha's Russian accent. He personified Misha snarkiness, vulnerability and resilience. His portrayal of Grim was creepy as well as touching. He brought to life a semi-aware sociopath with a conscience.

This book isn't for everyone and IT WILL make you uncomfortable. I strongly advise to heed ALL the authors warnings before you read/listening to this book ; so later on you don't complain of being offended by the nature of the story.

Not enjoying something others liked doesn't give anyone the right to kink shame and/and call perverted those who do. On the contrary, it makes one a hypocrite and intolerant . I mention this , in response to some reviews. Yes, it might not be your thing yet each one their own, right!?

Re-read/listen: Yes
Recommend: Yes , to open minded , think out the box readers with no triggers.

I'm not sure if this didn't bother me because I read this hours after I was done with the Hades Hangmen Series (that shit is crazy) or because I imagined Grim waaaay more creepier.

Grim was total care bear. Yes he is weird AF but It didn't bother me. I tried to see his weird tastes just like everybody's weird sexual kinks. He has issues but if you don't fuck with him he's not gonna fuck with you just for shits and giggles.
He can be ruthless and enjoy a bloodbath but he loved Misha unconditionally and it was beautiful.

Misha was a broken bird, poor thing suffered so much. I understood his attitude through out the story perfectly because everything was too confusing for him and people fucked with his life. He didn't know when to trust.
I liked how Grim's devotion to him made him love himself and try to be ok with his situation.

I loved their HEA! I couldn't stop smiling.

3.5 stars

I read this one with a shield up. I always felt like I was watching a movie instead of being IN the story with the characters. It was heartbreakingly disturbing. But the tender moments were great too. Could I say I enjoyed reading this? No - I didn't enjoy it. But I appreciated the writing - I always do with Merikan. Dom and Seth remain my favorites.

This is definitely the most intense book of the series. I don't even know how to describe what I read. Bonnie and Clyde have nothing on Misha and Grim. Grim is probably the craziest and most consistent character I've ever read. His love for blood is no joke. Do not read this story if you have a weak stomach.

10 AMAZING STARS

“You perv on blood?” Misha raised his eyebrows.
“No. I just like how it smells and feels on me,” said Grim.
Misha stroked the bat. “So if I was bleeding, you’d be happy to see that?”
Grim shuddered visibly. “God, no. That’s a messed-up thing to say.”
“You’re the one to talk. You said you liked it.”
“Yeah, but if a person says they like meat, it doesn’t mean they will eat, say, a cat. I’d never drain a broken boy.”
“Misha frowned, not sure if he should slap Grim or ignore the comment. “‘Broken boy’?”
Grim slouched. “You’re gonna hate me again now, aren’t you?”
“Oh, so you do learn.” Misha pouted and looked out of the window to the forest...”

This is the latest installment to KA Merikan's biker series and I am beyond words with it. It is BEYOND exceptional and by far my most favorite of the series. We have Grim the nomad assassin of the Coffin Nails, in LOVE with everything amputee and blood. And Misha, an amputee porn star who's actually been held against his will and has gone through some seriously crazy torture and abuse. One who should technically be dead.

Grim is out on a job and by chance ends up finding his little broken Birdie as he likes to call him, Misha.
Misha is skeptical at first cause him, of all people know that nothing comes for free o with nothing in return. But in the state he was in, he has no other choice then to accept the big scary mans help. So he takes the chance.

This book was just so amazing to me. I actually read it more than once cause it was just so damn good and both character we both very interesting. Grim with his fetish, his gifted-ness and above all else, the love for the blood he spills. Yet beneath all that, all he's ever craved for, is a broken birdie he could fully commit to, cherish and pamper. Have someone totally and completely dependent on him.

“I’ll cover you so thoroughly everyone will be able to smell me on you,” he whispered, leaning forward and pushing his knees against the sides of Misha’s legs.
“I’d have you brand me if that’s what it took to be yours.”
Grim’s mouth opened, and he gave a trembling moan.”

And let me tell you he met his match in Misha. I loved Misha. He was my favorite. He was just so damn strong willed and independent, even when it wasn't beneficial to him. It took him a while but he saw just how much Grim was willing to do for him. It was so great to see him ask Grim for self defense lessons and anything else to help better himself and become a better side kick. Anything to get himself as evenly matched with Grim as he could as an amputee. After all the torture and abuse he had been through, he wasn't willing to just roll over and wait to see when his captors caught up to him.
He had so much in common with Grim, they could not have met better partners. I even loved Misha's tantrums. Of corz Grim not so much lol but it was good to see how patient he was with Misha regardless of how mad he got with him and didn't understand Misha's mood swings.

This book had the most epic first date I had ever read. Most memorable one too. It was one of my favorite scenes. And I say one cause there was just too many. By the end I had a freakin ton of highlights and books marks.

So towards the end we also see Misha and Grim connect on a totally different level and we see just how they were so meant for each other.

“Once Grim melted into the hug, even Misha’s legs joined in as Misha curled around Grim. It was a safe cocoon of affection Grim had never received in this magnitude.
“Does the blood feel good on you?” whispered Grim.
Misha looked to his own hand. “Yes, because it’s his blood. It’s like I get to hold his life.”
Molten heat spread over Grim’s chest, and he petted the red-stained fingers. “You understand me so well.”
“Because you’re mine.” Misha smiled, never taking his eyes off their entwined hands. “I pay attention to my property.”

And shocked Grim was, him, Big Bad Biker Assassin, no one would dare to even speak of him in such ways was being told just who's property he was.

One little note... Lucky was really freakin irritating in this book. I had liked him before but I honestly felt like Misha should have dealt with his ignorant stupid ass.

Anyways totally RECOMMEND this book to lovers of everything dark and taboo. Not for the feint of heart, most def. Then start with book one. That's my second favorite. Can't wait to see where this series goes next.

What did I just read ? Why did I read it ?

4 Stars because it's well written , and despite all it's dubious moral content , I desperately wanted to see Misha and Grim get their HEA .

Maybe , this was a weird gruesome palette cleanser from my normal fluffy reading !!

Speaking of which , immersing myself stat in cupcake , manny , baby dragon , shifter , negative angst books for the foreseeable future .
