When was the last time a Christian hurt you? The demonic trio of slander, gossip, and offense has gained huge momentum both in our society and in the church. They ruin marriages, relationships, destroy churches, and discredit those in spiritual leadership. Even worse, instead of fighting them, believers daily aid these spirits. And daily, other believers fall victim. The church's main problem today is a lack of love, forgiveness, and unity. Satan's favorite lie is that spiritual attacks always come from outside—that Christians can't hurt each other. But when Pastor Kynan Bridges rips the mask off of the accuser, the truth is Satan's spirits of slander, gossip, and offense are determined to tear the kingdom apart, and they use believers to do it—leading to bitterness and spiritual disease. With a careful study of the Word of God, Pastor Kynan shows a way out. In this book, you will learn how
I believe that EVERY person should read this book. This book deals with the effects of gossip, slander, and offense. It doesn't just deal with the surface layer but addresses a lot of unspoken issues. I know pretty much everyone would say that they don't gossip, slander or cause offense. And if you are like me and think you don't think you need this, then you are the very person that needs to read this book. This book has challenged me to take ownership for my actions. It pointed out the subtle ways that we can be involved in gossip, slander, and offense. There are a lot of things we do and see as innocent. Prior to reading this book, I did not think anything was wrong with how I dealt with people and addressed situations, as a matter of fact, I was perfect. (SMILE) However, this book exposed how the devil uses so many people (yes, Christians included) to advance is agenda. Do you advance his agenda? I was and didn't even realize that I took his bait. This book challenged me to change so that my actions so that I can begin to foster healing and not hurt. I challenge you to read the book. Get you friends and family and read it together. Let's change how we deal with others.
I am 88 years old and I can honestly say that this is one of the most thought provoking books I have ever read. I have read and I am rereading this book to make sure I didn’t miss anything the first time. This book has made me even more accountable of my conversation. I am thankful that I came across this book because I can teach my grand and great grandchildren. They don’t have to wait to get my age to learn it. They can learn early how they play a role in how they view the world and are shaping the world around them with their words. Thank you, Dr. Kynan Bridges, for writing this book. I recommend this book as a must read for everyone, not just those in the church.
"It is time for the church to recognize that the Accuser of the brethren is our enemy. It is time for us to rip the mask off of his sinister plot to destroy the church from the inside out. It is time for us to put on the armor of light and be the illumination that this dark world needs." (Kynan Bridges, Unmasking the Accuser)
Satan is using slander, gossip and lies to cause countries, churches and people to destroy each other. God has called us to build each other up and not to tear down. If you are slandering and gossiping against your leaders, you are being used by Satan and don't know it. We are to not let any corrupt communication come out of our mouths (See Ephesians 4:29).
More than ever, we need to be careful what we are allowing into our hearts. We must guard it diligently for out of it flows the springs of life (See Proverbs 4:23).
Don't let the enemy use you for his purposes, but let God use you for His great and awesome purposes.
Aside from the Bible itself, Unmasking the Accuser has got to be the single most influential book available to Christian's today. This book is entertaining and intriguing, but it's practical, too! The author does an incredible job of illustrating how it was slander and gossip that led Adam and Eve to sin in the garden. Not only does this book show to how to be aware of slander, gossip, and offense, but Kynan Bridges has an excellent way of teaching you how to stand up against Accuser of the brethren. I never realized how vital it was to restain my tongue and how "break room banters" were more like spiritual "words of war." With each chapter, I found myself more and more identifying with the anecdotes he shares and came to realize what a vile poison slander and gossip really are.
Page by page, I found that the book got better and better, so I got a copy for my wife and a copy for a family member! This is a book everyone NEEDS to read! Not only is it easy to read, but the stories in it are very relatable, and the discussion questions and prophetic prayers at the end of each chapter set you free in so many areas of your life!
If you have a friend or a family member, you two should read it together, chapter by chapter, and discuss how the subject has opened your eyes to how you conduct yourself, and the behavior you observe around you. This book has already had an undeniable impact on my marriage and has improved our communication towards each other, and everyone around us.
You should read this book to see just how that crafty serpent is still trying to spoil the fruits in your garden...
The author debunks one of the most popular lies ever, which is "...but words can never hurt me." As the book points out, nothing is further from the truth. Unkind, negative, and slanderous words are worse than sticks and stones because they hurt the one talking, the one listening, and the one being talked about. No one is exempt from "word wounds". After reading Unmasking the Accuser, I realized that I have been tricked by and at times willingly in agreement with the devil and his plans very often, when it came to how I dealt with myself and reacted to and spoke about other people. I was actually saying things that in NO WAY supported God's agenda. This book made me do personal inventory on a whole other level, and I have been constantly conducting investigation and examining MYSELF since reading it. I've read it through twice, and am on my third run. I am learning how to easily, yes, easily and consistently overcome being offended, say "NO" to gossip and refuse to participate in slandering others, no matter what. I want my words and my life to help bring healing to others, not harm them in any way. This book helped me remember the importance of that. If you know you want to think, live, and be how God intends for His for His children, then you need Unmasking the Accuser in your life! I know I do. Grateful to God and Dr. Kynan Bridges for this contribution to the world. Highly recommend this!
This book Unmasking the Accuser is really an eye opening for me. Every time I read a chapter I was repenting and decreeing. I will have to be more accountable with my conversations. This book exposes the schemes of the enemy; slander, gossip, and offense. There is power in your tongue. That's why it is very important to think first before you speak. I have been offended and got hurt through gossip and it's ugly. This book teaches you how to fight the lies of the enemy and to walk in your victory. I love that at the end of the chapter there are prayer, testimony and discussion. I recommend this book to everyone. This book is so good you don't want to miss it!!!
If you ever what to know how to fight Satan and win, you need to read, Unmasking the Accuser by Dr. Kynan Bridges. Dr, Bridges uncovers Satan's agenda and shows how he uses people to promote his agenda - people including the church. The church is in a struggle for its very existence and the threat has been planted from within. Unmasking the Accuser provides keys to the weaponry needed to unmask and dismantle the works of the enemy. Don't take the bait; Do not hesitate to learn what Satan's favorite lie is.
A must read for the Body of Christ. Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Yet many in the Body are experiencing death from the tongue and not experiencing life. Dr. Bridges gives us a detailed look at the power of gossiping and slander and how it is being used by the enemy to cause discord in the Body. A must read for everyone.
Unmasking the Accuser is an excellent book to read, individually, or as a group. It challenges any audience of people. The revelations are compelling, It helps to discern who is really behind these three ugly words, gossip, offense, and slander. Its a reminder that we already have the authority to stop the lying enemy. Unmasking the accuser helps me take an inventory of my motives. Example, I use to think having a conversation with a coworker about the manager who I may have had an issue with was ok, you might say I was only venting, instead of confronting that person. That is called gossip. I was reminded death and life is in the power of the tongue. I never thought I would be one of the many that would indulge in gossip, slander, and offense. Now my natural and spiritual eyes are opened to the accountably of the roles I played a part in . I refused to be an instrument of the enemy, after reading this book my life will never be the same.
Believers who have been (or are discouraged) by the Christian community and their churches should read this. Unmasking the Accuser is not just for those who have been hurt by or in the church but for others to recognize the signs of what they might be doing to offend others. Unlike a job, where we see that we are getting paid and will deal with co-workers who are imperfect or not living up to our expectations, some people will leave a church at the drop of a hat because they are offended. Instead of letting the enemy win, we should realize that the enemy wants to steal the great gifts God has for us. This means realizing that the enemy wants to use people, perceptions and situations to distract us and cause rifts in the body of Christ. Even if you haven't been offended, you may have unknowingly offended someone. This is a great book, thought provoking and worth reading twice.
This book takes you on a life transforming journey. It pushes you to do what is difficult; to look at self and assess where you are and what you are doing. It makes you uncomfortable as you are asked to do better and to come up higher. It points out the 'little things' that we get bogged down in every day, fighting against flesh and not realizing the bigger picture which is the agenda of the enemy to cause as much strife, destruction, disillusion, hurt and despair as possible amidst the people of God. In reading this book I was able to move past 'church hurt' and adjust my thinking and behavior. It transformed my life in a tremendous way and I am sure that it will do the same for numerous others.
Dr Kynan Bridges is an anointed man of God, who has an ease as an author and a gift for broaching difficult topics and bringing the peace of God to them. What I love about this book is it's use of bible verses' to reference the voice of the topic, that it shines a light and exposure on some common challenges being dealt with in and out of the church - but especially I think the use of personal stories that ties the narrative together makes it very relatable. And if that was not enough to pack into a great read, there is more. Discussion questions, practicum and power prayers as a gift at the end of a chapter. What a blessing. A read that will not leave you in the same place that it finds you, and is practical enough to teach from.
This is one of those books where it is very difficult to write a simple review and make it meaningful and influential to others. Words are just not enough to suggest, persuade, or to simply tell anyone person how life-changing this book has been for a once broken person as myself. There's not one person who should not read this. As I have heard time after time, and I will scream it to you loud and clear, THIS IS NOT JUST A BOOK, BUT A MOVEMENT AND A MESSAGE! The words inscripted on the pages possess a sense of freedom and healing from the wounds you may have caused in the lives of others or vice versus. For so many years, I walked under the shadow and shame of being hurt at the hands of others who I looked up and some maybe not so much but there were and are individuals I sincerely cared for and loved. Realizing I first had to admit that I walked under the spirit of offense and needed to deal with me and that I shouldn’t take the attacks personally, reading through the pages of “Unmasking the Accuser” I have literally found the courage to begin the healing process and drop some of the dead weight I have been holding on to as my security blanket. The examples and testimonies given throughout the book, made me realize that I am not alone and this is a spiritual war we’re fighting when it comes to our tongues. The other major component (and I may sound repetitive here, but let me remind you, words aren't enough to tell you just how much you absolutely should buy this book) is watching what I say and including myself in conversations about others with a listening ear. I realized that I am just as guilty of slander if all I did was listen. Also, how contamination from people who thrive off of gossip and slander is so dangerous in my walk to pursue Jesus Christ. I now find myself shying away from wayward conversations (and people) who have no real motive in their words or focal point outside of gossip. I live in an area in the United States where gossip is so common and our society thrives off of gossip. And so unless someone brings to your attention how much of a problem you have, you won't always notice. For me, this book (coupled with the Word of God throughout) gave me the spotlight to shine light in some of the dark areas in my life I need to deal with, specifically pertaining to offense. All in all, take my advice and the advice of others to heart…YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS BOOK IN YOUR LIFE! I have to admit, not everything "feels" good as you are reading, but it will definitely make you a better person. Thank God for Dr. Kynan Bridges and his obedience in listening to the voice of God pertaining to these issues that reach far beyond our churches, but our homes, workplaces, and everywhere we look around.
Dr. Kynan Bridges has created a narrative of redemption, a spiritual journey through healing and restoration. The author asks the reader to confront his/her current state of living below what God intended for each of us. One must see that the struggle can only be remedied by the grace of God. The enemy must be identified and his name is Accuser (the devil) and he seeks to separate each of us from God. The author lays out the fact that we must expose the lies of this enemy. In doing this and embracing God, we can be made whole again by God. But the healing begins with each of us choosing to be whole again and uniting with God. Healing, deliverance, restoration, and wholeness are only possible with and through God.
I was particularly taken by the author's call and leading the reader to admit bondage and broken-heartedness as the first step. In doing this, one can clearly see the root of the sin, the causes that led to one's dreadful state, and the specific sin (gossip, slander, condemnation and lying) that is real. The next step is choosing forgiveness over feeling offended. The author scripturally teaches that forgiveness as modeled by Jesus, our Savior includes forgiving of others and ourselves. The extent of forgiveness is infinite in number for the variety of sin is endless. The rebellion of one fuels the sin of unforgiveness and it is this which gives the devil an in. We must close the door to our ego and embrace humility.
Dr. Bridges also spends a considerable portion of his book on the church which often feels the toll of slander, gossip, condemnation, betrayal and apostasy. The author lays out the attributes that true churches are empowering, scriptural, focused on the ministry work, inclusion, impactful, and humble. The leaders must reflect and embrace these truths. Ultimately, the church must embody the blessing that comes from God, alone. It is the blessing that heals and delivers the whole church from bondage. Making this choice bonds the church community and blesses the individual.
In closing, I recommend this book for it teaches one that if we embrace God and His blessings, we can overcome all. We are not enslaved but free. We are free to carry on the work of Christ.
This book breaks down a biblical/spiritual basis for how and why people get offended and gives you methods of handling those situations. I felt that there was a tad too much focus on the author's experiences so as a reader (and non-pastor) I found it hard to relate. It definitely paints a picture of what church politics looks like in some churches and the importance of forgiveness.
With that said (mini-spoiler) 2 quotes in particular stood out to me. A brief story about a broken crayon, that "broken crayons still colour" meaning people that are facing difficulties that have deeply affected them (they feel broken) do not lose significance, value or purpose in the eyes of God. If you have lived that painful experience, then you now have the gift of helping someone who may be going through that same experience.
"It doesn't matter what happens in the Whitehouse, it only matters what is going on in the house of God."
This makes sense to me because I believe that the only way anything will really change in society is when people self-educate, observe and question things that suggest that something is missing from the full picture. What would be the point of voting if you aren't aware of the entire system and the patterns of looking to leaders for our solutions? Leading takes courage, and everyone is capable of having the courage to choose what's best for them. Leaders are taught to never show pain or fear or weakness, so automatically we are setting ourselves up for disappointment when we refuse to look at the human factor that everyone is made of. Their ties, their motives and values can remain hidden in the public eye as they repeatedly tell us all what we want to hear. If people were able to elect themselves, I wonder how society would change.
"Hurt people hurt people" This is true. I've noticed that repeatedly with certain kinds of people. If all you know is abuse, how would you interact with others?
Overall, a unique and insightful book for the discerning believer and clearly well thought out prayers were written and available for practical use.
One of the many things I learned from reading 'Unmasking the Accuser' is that offense is a trick from the accuser (devil), and I don’t have to fall for it. I do not need to be stuck in a prison of offense. The devil wants people to be offended because offense is the opposite of forgiveness. God sent his son to die on the cross to FORGIVE sinners. Believers are meant to follow Jesus’ example, and to show forgiveness to others, so the accuser uses offense as bait to lure believers down a wrong path.
This book uncovers the lies and tricks of the enemy; demonstrates how to fight against the lies, and how to break out of bondage; and it illustrates how to apply God’s Word to your every day life to avoid listening to the lies of the accuser of the brethren. Once you begin to read ‘Unmasking the Accuser,’ you will not be able to put it down. If you want to learn how to fight against the lies of the enemy, and if you want to be empowered to stay in God’s will for your life, I recommend you read this book.
I appreciated the straight forward address of gossip and slander in the church and believe God genuinely inspired the theme of this book. Nevertheless, there were some comments, particularly on the subject of curses that I believe were based more on opinion than biblical teaching. I would highly recommend this book to others who feel hurt by the church or have been accused of having caused hurt in the church.
I find Unmasking The Accuser to be a very revealing book. The book has many personal stories from Pastor Kynan Bridges and others. There are numerous examples to help us identify when we are unknowingly engaging in gossip, slander or offence. Did you know that an offended person can perpetuate slander and gossip and cause offence to others? It spreads! We need to have a greater awareness of this evil and how it has infiltrated into our lives. It tears churches apart, tears small groups apart too.
The book provides believers the tools and weapons we need to steer clear of gossip, slander and offence. There are reflection questions at the end of each chapter for self-reflection. This is useful for both individuals or for small group. You know what the best part of the book is? Prayers!! Yes...pray them over yourselves to be set free. This book is truly a weapon for believers to have.
Gossip, slander and offence are the gates into which the enemy gets a hold of us. The book has caused me to repent for behaviours that i have knowingly or unknowingly engaged in. Now, when someone wants to talk to me about someone my alarm bells go off and I realise that I can choose to walk through that nasty door or slam it shut. I have become more sensitive to whom I am entertaining in my ears and am more mindful of what kind of conversations I engage in.
I think our tongue can either be our greatest weakness or our greatest weapon to turn darkness away. We either open the door to darkness with our tongue or invite God's Glory into our lives through our tongue.
EVERY CONVERSATION IS A SEED THAT PRODUCES AN EXPONENTIAL HARVEST.
AGENDA, MOTIVES, IDENTITY, TRUTH…. Who ARE our words, our hearts, and our thoughts truly working for? Dr. Kynan Bridges does an astounding job of bringing us to and through the truth of our intentions, agenda, motives, identity, authority, and responsibility directly affecting our God given destiny. This book brings you a true understanding of the power we possess in our words. It takes the blinders off and unfolds the covert agenda of Satan subtly being advanced in the unknowing, unaware, and unguarded believer. We have been working for him bound and entangled in gossip, slander and offence. Now it is time to be free. This book teaches us how to guard ourselves from offense through self-examination, and everyday application. The testimonials and prayers within each chapter allow healing to overtake you and transform you right where you read. This book will transform the lives of all who read and apply its teachings. If you have ever been hurt or offended, this book is for you. If you are ready for a new empowered season in your life filled with more insight into the schemes of the devil and you need a strategy to overpower his every plan, this book is for you. If you are ready to let God win in your life, this book is for you. This truly is a God inspired word for everyone. From clergy to congregation, from student to teacher, from friends to family and peers alike, this book is for you. As the Holy Spirit convicts, corrects, and heals, Unmasking the Accuser by Dr. Kynan Bridges does exactly that.
