My job is to recruit him. Not have his baby…
Holden Cade is the filthiest, wildest, most hard-partying quarterback in pro football. A crude, rude, arrogant jock, and the only thing bigger than his ego is his-

Ugh, at least that’s what the tabloids say.

I’d prefer to have nothing to do with a self-obsessed prick like that. But as a talent scout for my father’s football team, I’m about to have a LOT to do with him.

But I’m the best there is in this biz. I don’t take crap from inflated egos like Holden Cade, and I am always in control.

That is, until I hear that filthy voice right in my ear, and until I feel his hands on my skin.

Until I let go for one night, and it ends up being the hottest one of my life.

Technically, I’m his boss now. Technically, continuing this dirty little secret is a breach of both our contracts.

Technically, there’s no way this could get more complicated.

Well, that is, until I find out I’m carrying his baby...

Whoops.

Holden Cade thinks he can make me his.

He might be right.

I liked this angsty, over the top drama at times, with a "forbidden" written all over it...between a "dirty player" quarterback star Holden Cade, with the "issues" and a smooth, sassy badass negotiator/talent scout for the Houston Bulls football team, the Texan fire, London Jacobs...

What they have is a seduction in making...the taste of forbidden only makes it hotter...and then just a tip of a complication stirs the waters into a whirpool of cluster...
The cocky, arrogant jock. The player. The prospect; the acquisition deal. The man I never wanted anything to do with who ended up being my everything.

The man I'm walking, running, and flying away from.

Yeah, well she's not going anywhere cause it's about god damned time for both of them to face up, man/woman up and pull their shit together! But not before, we see him grovel a bit! *smirk*
I got a second chance, and I got a new lease on life.

Life's about listening to your , and let me tell you, finally shutting up and listening to mine is the best play I ever made.

Amen to that!

*wink*

Aubrey Irons has really knocked the Contemporary Sports Bad Boy Romance out of the ball park with her book “Jock”. She grabs your attention at the beginning of the book when London (LJ Jacobs) a feisty female talent scout literally catches Holden Cade the arrogant, but extremely handsome Pro Quarterback with his pants “DOWN” or should we say “OFF”? Then the fight is on between the two of them. Holden is pissed that she got the better of him, but he can’t keep his eyes off her “ass”! So in order to keep her from walking out on an offer to join her father’s (Archie Jacobs) pro football team he agrees to a work out the next day so that she can see him in action. The banter between the two continue and then WHAM London is pregnant with Holden’s baby. This book is never runs out of drama to keep you glued to it. You have an arrogant Pro Quarterback who loves to party, a very good talent scout, a one-night stand, unplanned pregnancy, back stabbing wife, lust, and one cannot forget the panty melting sex scenes. This book is recommended for mature readers 18 years of age or older.

“HER JOB IS TO RECRUIT HIM, NOT HAVE HIS BABY….” (direct quote from book synopsis)

Holden Cade is an arrogant Pro Football Quarterback who loves to party and is the filthiest and wildest in pro football. It is also said that he has the biggest “Johnson” in the league as well. He is looking to leave his team in Denver to play for the Houston Bulls so that he can leave his demons and guilt behind him. He never expected to be put in his in place LJ Jacobs, who just so happens to be a female. He never saw that one coming, nor that she was very good at what she does.

LJ (London) Jacobs is a talent scout for her father’s football team of which she actually is co-owner. London is the best talent scout in the business and she is in Denver to recruit Holden Cade. What she wasn’t expecting was for him to be so damn handsome. She was already prepared for his being crude, rude, and arrogant. She didn’t want anything to do with him, but being a talent scout she had a lot to do with him. Her biggest problem to encounter will be finding out that she is pregnant after a one-night stand Holden Cade. Will Holden and London be able to work out their differences? Will they be able to become a family?

No spoilers. ARC free book given in exchange for an honest review.

The story was very good but there was so much “in my head talking” fluff that I actually skipped at least a quarter of the book. The first ¾ of the book was slow but good but the last ¼ was exciting and I couldn’t stop reading. This would have been a 5-star book without the fluff and with excitement and dialogue throughout most of the book. This seems to be the way Ms. Irons writes as Player was about the same, with a lot of fluff and only the last of the book really grabbing you. I felt like there was so much more to tell since I really only got into it in the end. I feel like I missed an entire story somewhere and it is still there to be told. Again, not really any football in this “football” book. The sex was hot and the chemistry between Holden and London was great. I just needed more.

I feel duped when it comes to this book. I wanted to quit this book at 1%. I was ready for a confident, assertive woman with a backbone after the h's initial run-in with the first football player. I was like yes this is the type of woman to read about in a predominantly male world of football recruiters. Then she met the H and it took the fast track to a one-star book as the h dashed all my hopes for this book.

This book has turned into a chore to read as I am not enjoying it at all and it will probably take until well into next year for me to finish it I find nothing good about it and just keep getting more and more disappointed as I go.

If this was a paperback book it would probably be lying in a parking lot somewhere, I can't wait to finish it so I can delete it to free up room on my Kindle.

Freaking Awesome!!

I just couldn't get enough of this book. The characters were uniquely written and so original. I loved the storyline of a off the charts QB with his reckless lifestyle and a scout from a rival team who is actually a hot as hell lady. With all the fireworks and drama this book was addictive!

Great sport romance read

What a great story about how the wrong situations and supposedly the wrong type of people can prove everyone, including themselves wrong and find what truly matters in life

Funny, sweet(ish), *and* sexy

Even though the subtitle is "secret baby sports romance" this isn't really a secret baby story - so if those bug you, but you like a football romance with potential to reform in your bad boy, give this one a shot. The baby doesn't even really become an issue until ~80%, and is only a secret for ~4% (so, pretty realistic for an unplanned pregnancy). The "relationship" between the MCs is more of a secret than the baby. My first Audrey Irons' - looking forward to checking out more.

Surprisingly enjoyable! JOCK centers around a talent scout, London Jacobs, who looks into recruiting pro football star, Holden Cade, of the Denver team for her hometown Houston. They hook up, and get swept into a push-and-pull 'relationship' that threatens to undo their lives. I mostly really liked this. It definitely sets itself apart from other sports romances because of the author's unique insight into the world of pro football. Not only that, the characters are amazingly brought to life. We see and understand them because of their personalties; it's all there on the page. I appreciate the female lead, London. She's a cut above all the other types of romance heroines I read these days. Spunky, go-getter, tough as nails, but also completely relatable - you name it. Holden is a funny character, riddled with his drunken frat boy ways.

However, the actual plot leaves me unsatisfied. It ended when things were still sort of unresolved. The blackmailing, and yeah the pregnancy even, were kind of hanging by the threads, and I did not get the closure or HEA as you call it. There was a lot of set up about the whole transferring thing and contracts and London moving but it gets swept under with a throwaway epilogue. like....? And the pregnancy! I feel like the resolution was not earned. We had so much build up of London's character finally choosing a life for her own, but thennnnnn she gets pulled into domestic life/motherhood. And after that revelation, we never got to read about her side of things post-proposal. The drama with the board voters, her position in the company, the supposed conflict of getting knocked up by your employee... There was a significant chunk of the book about those things, so to just not resolve that and opt for a quick domestic marriage happy happy joy joy kind of ending felt very unfair. LJ deserved better!!! I wanted to know more about her career trajectory, instead of Holden's - thank you very much, since realistically their relationship should have been controversial and unfortunately damaging to her career, b/c double standards etc etc. IDK did the author just run out of time to resolve this or what?

Life's about shutting up and listening to your heart..., October 30, 2016

This review is from: Jock: A Secret Baby Sports Romance (Kindle Edition)
Holden Cade didn’t see London Jacobs coming. He was expecting to be wooed and recruited by legendary hard-a$$ football scout LJ Jacobs, not the beautiful woman he just propositioned in the locker room.

London, professionally goes by LJ, because the cocky, alpha football players and management need not know ahead of time that they’re going to be dealing with a woman. This way, she shows up guns blazing and catches them off guard – immediately gaining the upper hand in the meeting/negotiation. She’s a no non-sense, super successful recruiter for her father’s professional football team and her reputation is the stuff of legends.

She’s come to try to lure Holden Cade away from his current team and to offer him a fresh start. His popularity is waning locally and he’s dealing with a personal tragedy that he can’t escape in his current town. It just doesn’t feel like home anymore.

London is used to dealing with arrogant football players attempting to seduce her and trying to make her blush with their dirty talk, but she gives it back as good as she gets it. Holden is no exception to this. There are fireworks between London and Holden from the start and the bitter banter, the flirting and the one-upmanship builds the sexual tension to an almost unbearable peak. The chemistry between them is hot!

London indulges in one incredible night of fun and freedom with Holden. And it’s a night to remember. But they end up with a little souvenir from their explosive night, which turns everything upside down.

Can London learn to loosen up and enjoy life with Holden? Can Holden settle down enough to be the man he needs to be for London and their baby?

Super sexy, football romance standalone with a HEA. I love Aubrey Irons’ books and this one is my favourite so far!

The "Jock" who changes more than teams...Hoooootttt!!!!!!

First off, this kindle edition I purchased actually contained four books in total. Each one as maturing as the other. In "Jock", the author wrote London as not your typical fawning female fan who wants to get next to the rich star bad boy quarterback who thinks nothing of losing himself in mindless and meaningless hookups for sex like a sport. Of course Holden Cade is that quarterback. Yet, there is an undeniable attraction sexual and more between London, the hard driving talent scout and the emotionally damaged Holden. The story delights the reader as we watch these two come together and pull away. Their interactions are sometimes funny sometimes precipitating a disassociating state from fire hot so hot sex scenes, sometimes tender and as they discovered their love, beautiful. As Holden grows in his characterization, he becomes less of a cliche and more of a team and community treasure. Is it enough to begin again with London, or has that ship sailed? Finding the answer to that question will bring each new reader a sense of satisfaction and meaning in this story. The three other stories have a similar literary arc ! All three have men who act like clichés or are severely stunted in their maturity. The women in the stories are strong. Even if they led with a mistake they fixed it. This kindle edition is a treasure trove of delightful storytelling. All of the "R" rated scenes are delightful and smoking hot! Gives one hope if their significant other is a complete opposite from you. For hours of fun, I recommend this package of stories.

**I Voluntarily review an Advance Reader Copy of this book****
Firstly I need to say that I am a Massive Aubrey Irons fan, secondly I am NOT a fan of Jock/Sportsman stories and I was a little bit trepidatious about a sports story BUT Aubrey Irons Jock I AM a massive fan, I loved this book the story was awesome. It has the right mix of LOL humour, romance and Aww style sweetness. I also like the fact that it is centred around the NFL but as someone who knows nothing about the NFL I wasn’t lost in the technicality of the sport.
Holden the hot young gun quarterback is looking to move from Denver following the death of his best and the unwarranted but soul crushing guilt following the tragedy that has been impacting him on the football field as well as his life ever since. He feels moving away to a new team a new city will give him the fresh start and help alleviate some of the guilt.
London(LJ) is a famous ball busting recruiter for her families team in Houston. London has her eyes set on Holden to help out their flailing team and get them winning again.
I loved loved loved this story. I Loved that Holden could see that he was different with London and wouldn't give up his mission to make her his. I loved that London wasn’t falling at Holden’s feet every time he looked in her direction and that she fought for what she wanted in the relationship, that she was not afraid to stand up for herself in a very male industry and that she and was not willing to compromise her morels to make a name for herself.
Once you read Jock (and if you haven’t already) do yourself a favour and read the other books by Aubrey **Swoon-tacular!**

Another really enjoyable story by Aubrey Irons. I loved London from her first introduction, especially when she puts down Holdens teammate so spectacularly at the beginning of the book and from that moment I was hooked into the story and even more so after Holden and London first meet, which kind of surprised me as I wasn't expecting to like Holden that much to start with at least.

However there was definitely more to Holden than I first expected and I loved that London didn't take any shit from him, and vice versa. There was also plenty of hot moments, a storyline that kept me engaged and left me really rooting for these two to finally figure things out, not to mention a few fun moments mainly thanks to Holden's friend and former teammate Max who was always on hand to offer advice or threaten bodily harm if and when the need arose.

Overall though it was a great story and one I would certainly recommend to others, especially if your a fan of the author or other authors of this genre.

London loves her life, she loves that she gets to shock people nearly everyday, she loves that she's got the dream job as a recruiter, in her dream field, Football. London's in Denver to try and tempt the brilliant, but troubled Holden Cade to join her and her Fathers team, the Houston Bulls, as they try to rebuild from a seven year losing streak. When Holden sees a woman in his PT session, he instantly assumes she there for him, and what he can give her. Holden just never dreamed that LJ is actually a woman, the woman standing in front of him doing things to his body he never dreamt of. Both London and Holden start to feel things they assume the other wouldn't appreciate, and as London's world falls apart, her discovery and then bombshell she drops on Holden that she's pregnant brings up a whole new range of emotions, and the reality that Holden is not the man any child needs as a father.
I totally loved this story, I loved the epilogue, and I must admit, that despite how romantic I am, I liked that it wasn't all perfectly rosy for Holden especially as he spiraled out of control.
I received an ARC for an honest and fair review

A great sports romance. L.J. is a great recruiter, and her team needs all the help it can get at the moment, and Holden Cade fits the bill just right. He's going to cost them a lot, and he's an arrogant, crude, party animal. Well that's what the tabloids say anyway, but he's also a great player. Can I convince him?

I loved the interaction between L.J. and Holden. She's a strong business woman working in a mans world where she knows any fooling around with her employees will seriously injure any management credibility she had worked for. And Holden is also completely thrown of his game by his boss.

If sports romance are up your street, don't miss this one. You won't be disappointed.

This is the first time I have read a book by this author and was very pleasantly surprised at how well the book was written. I found the book to be very interesting and entertaining to read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. What you will find in this book is a arrogant hard partying Quarterback Pro Football Player (Holden Cade), a feisty female talent scout (LJ Jacobs) (aka London), her father and owner of the Bulls (Archie Jacobs), Archie's second wife (Joanne), London's friend and secretary (Serena), drama, suspense, intrigue, attractions, verbal banter, a one night stand, dirty talk, father - heart attack, hospital, an offer of employment, a unplanned pregnancy, a wife's betrayal, wants sell business, father better, getting rid of wife, leaving, airport, calling her, a proposal, acceptance, lust, emotional feelings, love and erotic scenes. I found the story-line to be well thought out and written. The characters have emotional feelings according to the situation they find themselves in. I would recommend this book to people who like to read a well written secret baby sports romance with a HEA.

I received an ARC copy in exchange for a free and honest review

This book you have Holden the arrogant quarterback with a history of partying and women and some demons to go along with it. He is looking to move on to a new football team the recruiter is LJ. a.k.a London a smart witty, no holds barred women from Houston whose father owns the team, she is known for being ruthless, the two end up going toe to toe, but it may be more then just over contracts, and what should be just a one night stand could lead to some disastrous career results for them both.

I really got into this book. I loved the flirty banter between them, even the conversations the had with themselves, it was entertaining and felt like a more real life experience, in my opinion of course! So couple that with some good descriptive story line, not over the top drama, humorous quips, some very sexy scenes while watching some romance and love unfold in the mix and I had a good afternoon read!

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

Another great book by Aubrey Irons. She is the absolute mastermind when it comes to sports romances.

Jock is hands down one of the best books I have read. Holden Cade is the epitome of the bad boy star quarterback. He had demons and he's drowning in them. It isn't until he meets LJ Jacobs that he finds his light and purpose again.

London (LJ) had one job and that is to recruit Holden Cade to her daddy's football team. What she didn't expect was to fall for this wild play boy, let alone end up carrying his child.

This was a very fast paced book. Both characters were well thought out and developed. I would have enjoyed getting more into Holden's demons. I highly recommend this book to anyone. Especially if you have not read one of Ms. Irons books before.

**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**** This story was great! Just the right amount of humor and sweetness. Holden is a qb looking to move from Denver where he is dealing with unwarranted guilt over his best friends death and and how that is impacting him on the football field as well as his life. He feels moving to a new team will give him the fresh start he needs. London(LJ) is a well known recruiter for her families team in Houston. London is sent to recruit Holden for her flailing team. Hoping that with him they can win. I loved their story. I liked how Holden wouldn't give up on London on his attempt to make her his. I loved that London knew how to hold her own and not let Holden bowl her over. Their story was sweet and I loved the banter between them. All in all this story was great! I look forward to more books from Ms Irons!

Good read, footballer and boss's daughter

This was a good read. The story was very detailed. The characters had a good growth. I did wish there was more details about her father and his health stuff before the big drama stuff but it made up for it later. I would of liked more detailed ending. But all in all a good story with some hot scenes. I would read again. (Arc for honest review/ bought book too)
Overview: London (girl) aka known as (LJ) in the footballer world, was a big football scout. She approaches Holden Cade from Denver in hopes of getting him to sign with her and her dads team from Huston. But Holden wants more than a contract, he wants London. London doesn't mean to fall for the biggest player in football, but she does. How will the playboy settle into his new life? Will London except that her heart wants Holdon no matter how much she tries to fight it?
