Series: The Bride Hunt, Book 3 - a dragon shifter novel
Blaze has loved and lost before. He’s been down that slippery path before and never wants to go there again. Especially not with a human. It’s a great pity that he has no choice. The problem is that he’s the Fire King, ruler of all four kingdoms. Blaze is expected to have heirs, and the sooner the better. He’ll have to take a human as his mate, one that will bear his young, but he doesn’t have to love her. Blaze plans on handling it like a business transaction. No love, no emotion, no problem.
This book can be read as a standalone but would be best enjoyed as a part of the series (Start with Chosen by the Vampire Kings). No cliffhanger! This Story Contains strong sexual themes/language and is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💚🖤💙💜❤️ Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏 Character development: ☹️🙃☺️😀 Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Roxy - she recently came out of a bad relationship, though she is an optimist who works with her friend in a bakery and still wants to find love. So she signs herself up to date a vampire, but she doesn’t care what species she ends up with, she just wants to find real love.
The Heroes:Blaze - he is the fire King and the ruler of all four dragon kingdoms. He didn’t want to join the bride hunt, because he has been hurt before, but he has to do what he must for the good of the kingdom and that means he needs a mate and heirs. Since female dragon shifters are not fertile, he needs to be involved in the hunt and catch one of the human women.
The Story: Blaze thinks that love complicates things, so he plans to take a human mate in the next bride hunt. Dragon shifters are not known to humans so in the past few hunts, they have abducted women to fill their bride hunt. They no longer want to do that, so they made a deal with the vampires to get some of the women that signed up for the vampire dating program. The women don’t know what is going on when the vampires take them to another place and tell them they have been selected for a new program for shifters.
The story in this book was a bit different than the first two where the women were abducted and kind of thrown into the hunt without knowing what it was all about. This one, the women signed up for it and were told all about the hunt before it happened. They even got to go to a dinner and see the male dragons the night before the hunt takes place.
This book was told in dual points of view via dual narration. The narration was done by Stella Bloom and Troy Duran. These are two of my favorite narrators and they always do a great job. I love Troy’s deep and captivating voice and Stella Bloom always sounds feminine and intelligent and does a great job. I liked both Blaze and Roxy as people. They both had been hurt in their past relationships and take that baggage along with them. The romance good and the intimate scenes were quite steamy.
This is the third book in The Bride Hunt series and I really recommend reading the two previous books before this one. A lot of the world-building and previous character development happens in the books before this one. You specifically get to meet Blaze in the previous books, who is the hero of this romance story. Blaze is a fire dragon and is the king of all of the dragons. In order for dragons to get a mate, they must capture them in something called the Hunt. Human females are released into the wilderness and the male dragons go and hunt them down. Whenever a dragon catches a female, that female is now their mate. Roxy is one of the human females who signed up for this hunt. She had a bad previous relationship and she just wants someone who will fully fall in love with her. She thinks a shifter could be that type of person. But when Blaze ends up claiming her, she realizes that he might be the one shifter who does not believe in love.
This was honestly just okay. It took soooooo long for Blaze to admit his feelings. When he did admit his feelings, I felt like it was too late! Roxy should have left! I do, however, love the world and concept of this book. I plan on reading the rest of the series!
Well, I for sure am, and I must say I find Charlene Hartnady’s storytelling quite entertaining.
It’s fun. It’s light. It’s SEXY! The storyline is dramatic, I love when they fuss and fight. What can I say I do love a bit of drama🤷🏻♀️💕
It’s a bit cheesy at times. I find that oddly charming.
Roxy was a delight. A blue-eyed, dark haired beauty working with her best friend in a bakery deciding she deserves the “never ending type of love” and decides to apply for “The program”. The vampire dating program. How did she end up with a dragon king, you say?
Well... the dragonshifter community is in desperate need of females and the dragon King “Blaze” needs to produce heirs. He just don’t want any love to come with the joining of a human. Then why can’t he stop thinking about Roxy?
I've read numerous books by Charlene Hartnady. She writes short smuttylicious little nuggets of yumminess. This new series features the introduction of dragon shifters to the world of the Vampire Kings. Blaze, the King of the dragons wants to use the vampire mating program to assist his people with finding mates. He strikes a deal with the vampires to trial the process and agrees to take a mate as well. Instead of choosing his potential mate, he's shocked when she actually claims him. What I liked: I started out really loving Julie. She just wants to find love and feels mating a shifter will solve her problems since they're known for loving their human mates unconditionally. She's honest, intelligent, and true to herself. Blaze is alpha-hole and that's typically my thing, but he was a bit too much for me. What didn't work for me: I really enjoyed this until Julie made a decision that wasn't true to character. I won't give away any spoilers, but it did detract from enjoyment. This was all about sexual chemistry. There was a definite lack of relationship development here. Overall, this is a decent read if you're in the market for a short, smutty, read with an alpha-hole hero. This book ends on a cliffhanger, so if that's not your thing wait until the series is complete to read it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by the author.
More like 3,75 stars. Blaze didn't deserve Roxy's patience tbh, but all's well that ends well. And on that note: Let's hope we get to say the same thing about baby Flare.
This is the story of the Fire King Blaze. He Is the King of all 4 shifter Kingdoms. Sort of a King of Kings. He is mated to Roxy Kincaid who works in a Bakery. I must say I liked Roxy, she was written with wit, intelligence and beauty. This is the best Heroine of the entire series. Blaze was pretty well written too. Except for his refusal to say he was in love with Roxy, which by all accounts he was.
Blaze and Roxy had been terribly hurt in prior relationships. Therefore causing them to be suspicious of Love. But the story moved fast its just Way Over The Top Sex too much. Its not erotic sex its just rutting as they call it. Sex scene are a must in a Romance story but they must be written well.
This author is either lazy or she doesn't have much of an imagination. The Premise of this series is a good one. But the author has not created a world in which the Shifters live. Where do they live? What does it Look like? Why don't Kings have servants. The storyline needs some type of depth and dimension which it does not have. The other problem is Women don't lay Eggs that is beyond believable and it is silly for a human women to lay an egg instead of having a baby. Ridiculous but it is different. Dragon King is the best of the 3 books I have read in The Bride Hunt series.
I loved this series but I was not keen on this book. It's a slightly different premise although it's still a bride hunt. We met Blaze in the first book and he obviously had issues but I didn't like that Roxy was more or less chasing him. It just didn't have the same appeal to me as the others.
No disappointment from this book. romance but not romance at first, a bit of a drama and quite some fun after. And I like the fact that not all were perfect characters. can't wait for the next hunting.
There were things I really liked in this book and a few things I wasn’t a huge fan of. This book is mostly Blaze the fire dragon king and Roxy’s story, but of course we get snippets from the others stories as well.
The main reason I felt that this book wasn’t quite as good as the others is despite Blaze and Roxy having some intense scenes I felt like they didn’t have as much chemistry as the other couples. I also felt like we really didn’t get to know Blaze as well leaving me wanting just a little more for them.
I thought it was great that the author chose to bring to light Thunder and Lily’s,other participants of the hunt, story and how they didn’t work out. That made the hunt more realistic in terms that it’s not a guaranteed match making process. Despite the males being desperate to take mates they aren’t so desperate as to choose someone who isn’t good for them or their people.
Blaze is the "brickhead" from "A Mate For Kai". And we get to know exactly what his problem is. But he has a duty to his people. So he must put aside his reservations and do what is expected of him. Only he didn't expect to be attracted to a human. In spite of trying his best to self-sabotage the inevitable he still ends up bringing Roxy home, with no thanks to any effort on his part. By the way, I loved Roxy's character. Brave, bold focused and so clear about what she wants. She is my favorite heroine in this series so far. That said, Blaze is at the opposite end of clear thinking. He prefers to hold it all in and deal with it himself instead of actually asking for advice. So naturally what follows is a whole load more of "brickheadedness" on his part even though Roxy is more than patient with him and has made her intentions quite clear. Aye aye aye Blaze, she has a bigger pair than you Mr. Dragon King.
I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from the author for voluntary review consideration
I think out of all the books so far, I like this one the best. Though Blaze is really a piece of work. Jaded fucker. He's all like "We are super compatible sex wise but I can't fall in love with you. Let's make a deal to not fall in love." Fucking idiot.
Just read the damn blurb. It'll tell you more than what I could since, you know I don't like to get into detail much since, HELLO NOVELLA SIZE BOOK!
Dragon King is the thrilling third installment in The Bride Hunt series. The story follows characters who must run for their lives from creatures they never knew existed.
While each book can be enjoyed as a standalone, it's best to read them in order to fully appreciate the rich paranormal elements and exciting themes they offer. The characters just need to stay alive, but what they discover is more significant than they ever imagined.
I love the strong, sexy alpha males in protective roles!
Well, this was much much better than the first book. This time around I could actually feel the connection between the H and the h. But God! Did it have to end like that? I'm hanging off the edge with no rope in sight! Gah!
CAPTIVATING, SEXY AND SO DARN CUTE !!! Title: Dragon King Series: The Bride Hunt Designation: Book Three of Series, Full-Length Standalone Novel, HEA, NO Cliffhanger (kinda, but there is one heck of a shocking revelation in the final paragraph that relates to the underlying interconnected series storyline) Author: Charlene Hartnady Genre: #ParanormalRomance #DragonShifter Reading Platform: Kindle Unlimited My Rating: FIVE SINFULLY DELICIOUSLY STARS***** **This review may not show up as a verified purchase but I read this book using Amazon Kindle Unlimited. And the hits just keep on coming! Charlene Hartnady has knocked it out of the park again with Dragon King, the third riveting release in her sexy new The Bride Hunt Series, and I have another new favorite! lol... Yeah, yeah, I know I say the same thing every time but this series just keeps getting better and better! I loved, loved, loved Dragon King! It's no secret I've been a diehard Charlene Hartnady fan for years and devour everything she writes. And just why do I love her writing so much, you ask? Well, I'm so glad you asked. First, it's quite evident that Hartnady invests a lot of time and effort into every book she writes, but it's even more obvious that she pours her very heart and soul into each and every story. Hartnady's books are always original, unique, and imaginative as well as exceptionally well crafted, written and edited, and Royal Dragon is no exception. Second, some people are simply born with a natural innate talent as a storyteller and Hartnady has been abundantly blessed. She's also an incredibly skilled wordsmith with a boundless imagination who excels at creating imaginative and vividly depicted worlds with intriguing and highly engaging characters. You know, the kind that immediately draw you into the story, grab your undivided attention, engage your emotions, and completely capture your heart. And third and most importantly, her stories just make you feel good. They make you giggle, snicker, snort, and sob but by the end, you're happy, satisfied and well entertained!
But I digress, let's talk some specifics about this book. Royal Dragon is an exciting, intense, seductive, fast-paced, exceptionally well crafted and edited full-length standalone paranormal romance, beautifully written in the third person with clearly defined alternating his and her perspectives. I became instantly smitten with the two protagonists of this story, hot, handsome, arrogant and very stubborn royal fire dragon, King Blaze, and beautiful, sweet, humble, kind-hearted human bakery store employee, Roxanne Kincaid, known as Roxy to her friends . I immediately fell in love with sweet Roxie and Blaze....well, he kinda grows on you. lol... They complemented each other perfectly and their sexual chemistry was so smoking hot! Blaze may have been a little cocky and stubborn, okay a lot...lol... , but he did have some redeeming qualities along with several irresistible physical attributes. Hubba! Hubba! I could totally identify with Roxy's character and my heart literally broke for her. I think we all know how it feels to want true love so badly, you're willing to do almost anything, including agreeing to be sedated and transported to a secluded unknown location to hopefully meet the an of your dreams. Sigh....so darn dreamy! I truly admired Roxy's strength and convictions, and especially her refusal to settle for anything less than true love and total commitment. She may have been a little timid at times but strong and determined when she needed to be. The dialogue is smart, seductive, well executed and at times, laugh out loud funny. You just gotta love the raw sexy comments that always seem to spew out of a shifters mouth. *Rawwrr* Love it! This story is quite different than the first two books of the series. It's definitely not your typical paranormal tale where beautiful girl meets handsome guy and they instantly fall head over heels in love. In this story, Hartnady flips the whole shifter insta-love making both lead characters being hurt in the past but it's the male who is determined to never fall in love. Roxy has to risk everything including her heart for love and the man of her dreams, and it was fabulous! Hartnady skillfully combines every single one of these elements to craft a deliciously cute paranormal tale filled to the brim with heart-pounding drama, heart-wrenching angst, hilarious humor, heated attraction, fiery passion, heartwarming romance and of course, dreamy sex! After all, this is a Charlene Hartnady story and we all know she writes some of the steamiest sex scenes - ever! Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! I was glued to my chair, white knuckling my ereader with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest while the hours passed as quickly as the pages! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! I giggled, snorted, snickered, snuffled, sobbed and even became downright angry and wanted to strangle several dragon shifters, but by the end, I was happy, satisfied and completely entertained. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
Premise: The Bride Hunt Series is basically a spin-off from Hartnady's earlier series, The Program which featured a captivating cast of vampires seeking human mates. It seems the vampires aren't the only species encountering reproductive problems. All the non-humans are experiencing the same dilemma - no females to procreate their species and the very few dragon births have been all male and apparently it's the same with the other non-human species as well. For no known reason, female children have just stopped being born. Unfortunately, the dragons have been the worst affected. Several months ago, the vampires instigated their 'breeding program' whereby they advertised in the paper and recruited human females to participate in a dating program for their elite vampire males. Of course, the wolf shifters have been secretly taking human females for years. The elves, who seem to be the least affected, prefer to isolate themselves completely, which is pretty much what the dragon shifters have also preferred - until now. In the entire four dragon tribes, Fire, Earth, Air and Water, there are only two unmated fertile dragon females remaining and hundreds of male dragons. Scratch that....there were two but since Ruby, the fire dragon princess, recently mated a vampire (oops), the deal for Blaze, King of the fire dragons, to secure the available fertile female dragons is null and void. Oh no! Ruby was promised to Thunder, King of the Air Tribe, and when their mating didn't happen, Thunder gave his two sisters to the earth and water princes. Uh-oh! Now there are no fertile royal and very, very few unmated female dragons left, and four tribes of unmated males. If their species is to survive, they need a plan...right now! And like the vampires, it seems their future will also depend upon human females. But they have no way of knowing whether a mating between a human female and a dragon of royal blood will produce a royal offspring and there's only one way to find out.....a royal male must mate with a human female and impregnate her to see if the infant will be born with golden markings. But first, they need willing human females. So, where will they find these willing females, although classifying it as willing may actually be stretching the truth just a little, but it's really just semantics, right? And exactly how do they intend to procure them? Well, I'm so glad you asked. First, they will abduct...I mean rescue five human females who are impoverished, abused or in some kind of trouble, and then force...um...I mean offer them a mutually beneficial deal to participate in the Hunt. Wait...What? The Hunt??? As tradition dictates, hundreds of dragon males from all four tribes will assemble for the Hunt and all of them will be vying for a chance to capture, win, and claim one of the five human females. What could go wrong??? Don't ask!
What's the king of all four dragon shifter clans willing to do to ensure the continuation of his people??? He can start by participating in The Hunt, capturing a human female, mate her, impregnate her, and produce a royal heir. Yes, being not only the king of the fire dragons, but also king of all four dragon kingdoms, earth, air, water, and fire, means making sacrifices for his people. Humans may be small, frail, weak creatures, but they're necessary for the continuation of the dragon species. Unfortunately, they're not trustworthy. Blaze knows that fact all too well and that's the reason he will never, ever fall in love... at least, not again! He may have to participate in the Hunt and win one of the females but he would hate every minute of it. He doesn't even care which female it is, preferably one he isn't attracted to at all. He's only doing it for the good of his species. Everything he does is for the welfare of his people and this would be no different. There would be NO romantic crap, no hand holding, no cuddling, and most certainly NO kisses and NO love...ever! He had no intention of ever having a serious relationship with a human female...at least not again. Nope, it would be a simple, uncomplicated, straight-forward business arrangement between two consenting adults who hopefully would be compatible and could maybe even be friends. But that's all.... until he sees the gorgeous dark-haired beauty and then everything gets complicated. Oh my! Nope, not going to happen! No love for him. Just a business transaction with no complications. SUrely she would agree to his terms, right? Hmm... We'll see!
Bakery store clerk Roxy Kincaid has had it with human men. After having her heart broken by her now ex-boyfriend of eight years, at almost thirty-two years old Roxie relaizes human males only want one thing, sex with no commitments. Initially, she'd applied to the vampire dating program on a whim but the more she thought about the possibility of having a vampire or shifter male as a husband, or mate as they call it, the more she wanted it. After all, they mated for life and that's exactly what she's yearned for, a partner who would be attracted to her mind as well as her body. She wanted to be loved, cherished and adored; she wanted to the center of their world. ANd she most definitely did not want a guy who was desperate and would do anything for a girl...any girl. But when they informed her she'd have to agree to be sedated, transported to a secret unknown location in the middle of nowhere, and then be part of a 'Hunt' where she would be hunted by hundreds of dragon shifters who wanted to win her as their mate, she began to have serious doubts. And after almost losing her opportunity, she had actually agreed. What had she been thinking?!? She was thinking she wanted a sweet, kind shifter who would love and cherish her till the end of her days....so it would all be worth it, right? What could go wrong? Hmm.... a lot actually but we'll see! Oh my! Here we go again!
This iteration of actual The Hunt is my favorite. I like how the recruitment process changes and how Roxy chooses Blaze. But almost everything after they got back to the lair felt very bland as far as plot and relied too heavily on the steam. I think after Roxy being incredibly bold during the Hunt, she really becomes a pushover in her relationship with Blaze. Roxy, unrealistically in my opinion, is almost hypnotized by the sex to not have a real conversation and Blaze is too ruled by his dick to have a meaningful relationship with Roxy (partially due to his fear of getting hurt again).
Then when the conflict finally starts to ramp up, Roxy is very manipulative of the situation, and I feel like she should have left to give them space (like in book 2). Also, I don't like how other characters, who she doesn't have a super deep friendship with convince her to make different decisions with regards to Blaze. Additionally, the conflict was a level or two dramatic. I think Lava trying for her and Sue lying about being with Blaze was too much, one or the other could have happened, but both just didn't work for me.
I was really hoping for more info about the Lauren/Lava pairing hinted at the end. We never get confirmation that it's really going to happen, and we don't know enough about Lauren to know if she would give up the bakery to participate. Also, there is no guarantee that Lava would win her. From what I have read of the bios of the following books, this seems like a dropped plot point (which I am scared that Charlene is going to do a lot in this series). We never got a story for 3 of the women from the first hunt, and I am feeling like the second hunt will have 2 women whose stories aren't told.
Additionally, the "epilogue" had the weird point about Coal and Julie's baby not having full markings. I'm not sure what to make of this point because how it was written made me feel like Blaze/the kings would back track or stop the hunts if the human/shifter pairings don't result in full blooded dragon shifters (in which case how can there be 3 books, and 3 spin off series). It feels like its revving up a plot point that the series just doesn't need. Especially since the ones that she is working with in this book didn't land for me. Also, with Torrent and Candy's daughter already being an undefined halfling, it feels like she is just throwing in children as a result of a couple's sexual relationship and not doing enough to explain what these births mean for the dragon shifter community. This is particularly difficult since there are a lot of overlapping timelines in the series.
The next book seems like it involves a different type of dragon that may be unknown to the main kingdoms (since the rules of the hunt are broken) so I am hesitant to believe that I will be getting the answers I want in the next book in the series. If book 4 isn't a homerun, I probably will put the series down even though the world is amazing.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I would want to partner not a child I had to raise, especially considering he's had several lifetimes to sort this out and still hasn't. She is a complete idiot, and Blaze being "hot" really doesn't make up for rude, unfaithful, inconsiderate behavior. Quite frankly if this is what life with him would be like, a male who can't handle his life and issues any better than this, I would leave and NOT be continually throwing myself at him. He is not worth the effort and he's already proven he doesn't think she is either: he's shown her who he is, and she's not paying attention.
Second issue: So, basically the women have no choice. They're just chattel to be hunted, but they don't get to choose a specific male, their choice ends after consenting to be hunted. After that the females have no agency and no choice. Quite frankly the whole statement about shifters being Men of Honor is bullsh*t if they're not telling the women the truth and giving them an INFORMED CHOICE before asking for consent. What is being described here is a bait and switch which is feels like fraud and to me would invalidate any non-disclosure agreement. The lack of real consent and all the lying has worn on me, so even though this is only the third book I'm kind of over it. This particular female lead took the reins but it just seemed more desperate to the point of being somewhat pathetic especially seeing as how he fought it and she just kept panting after him. Can't say he was worth trying that hard and certainly not worth being treated the way he did. Uber king or not, the guy is a complete loser when it comes to being any kind of partner.
This was probably my least fave book in Charlene’s series. And theres only one reason why- the FMC was terrible. I understand not giving up and seeing something in someone and not wanting to give up on them, but theres a fine line between being strong and being desperate.. and the FMC, Roxy, didn’t just cross that line- she backflipped a mile past it. She was.. honestly super freaking annoying. And I felt so bad for the way he was treating her but aside from yelling at him a little bit she just let him walk all over her. Then went back for more. And more. And more. And more. She thought he fucked another girl AND SHE STILL WENT BACK FOR MORE. Like commoonnnn girlfriend🤦🏻♀️
I liked Blaze and was excited for his story even though I figured it was some kind of betrayal by a human. For so much lead up to him i was a bit disappointed in him in general. He was honestly a ginormous dick.. and I was kind of upset that when he finally realized he was in love with Roxy, it came from her POV and not his. Had it been done in his POV I think it would illicit more sympathy and understanding from the reader.
Either way- the book was still entertaining, and i still stayed up way too late to read it so my complaints certainly weren’t enough to deter me. Not to mention Ive read like.. what? 15 of her books so far and this is the first one I’ve kind of disliked. You cant win ‘em all! Onto the next!
Warning: mature sexual content, mature themes, and language.
It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This is book three of six of The Bride Hunt series. (Set in the same world The Chosen Series)
Dragon shifters are a dying breed. There are so few females left that if drastic measures are not taken, and soon, it’ll be over for the species. The threat of extinction looms.
Blaze has loved and lost before. He’s been down that slippery path and never wants to go there again, especially not with a human; it’s a great pity that he has no choice. The problem is that he’s the fire king, ruler of all four kingdoms, and Blaze is expected to have heirs, and the sooner the better. He’ll have to take a human as his mate, one that will bear his young, but he doesn’t have to love her. Blaze plans on handling it like a business transaction, no love, no emotion, and no problem. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. It’s a must read. I highly recommend to everyone.
HERO has been wounded by a human lover before, and after his heartbreak, he doesn't have much to recommend about the race.BUT he is the King of Kings and is required to have an heir. When Thunder allows him first pick of a mate between two females, he finds Himself extremely attracted to the heroine but tries to fight it off, choosing not to choose her instead. However he never expected for her to choose him and with flair I might add. Blaze is stuck with our heroine and throughput he tries to deny her heart. They have amazing passion and all but he's always in denial and tried to offer a practical mating with her without love in the equation. Silly man. You've already fallen for her way before!
HEROINE was a good sport. I loved how she took matters into her own hand and jumped Blaze with a hot kiss and ended up being his mate. Of course, they still had to finalize the claiming so they had a trial run. It didn't take long for our heroine to fall for Blaze but she knows his fear and aversion to love. How Can she convince him to love her and choose them?
OVERALL it was cliche but it was something I could enjoy any day.
Again I feel like this was maybe a little longer than it needed to be.
However, another enjoyable enough story in this world.
Blaze was quite annoying for a lot of this book. We didn't really get to know much about him, other than he had a past and how horny he was for Roxy.
Whilst of course, one of the main draws to this series, is the erotica between the main couple of the story, I did feel like this installment in the series really did take it overboard. There was very little content other than the sex.
I feel like the author may be getting a little lazy in terms of storytelling and just going for the easy sex scenes in the last few books.
I know not to expect greatness from this series, they're just right when I'm in the mood for quick and easy romance story; but I have come to expect a little more. Hopefully, they pick back up again further down the line in the series.
Dragon King Blaze and Roxy have their share of obstacles to overcome if they are to be together. Blaze has a very impersonal business arrangement in mind and, Roxy wants her happily ever after with a loving male and a family. Of course there are difficulties when their conflicting ideas of a relationship are revealed. This story evolved quickly into a completely disastrous situation with Blaze and Roxy's emotions out of control; things were said and feelings were hurt. I found this story absolutely captivating. I admired Roxy's strength and determination from the very beginning of the story, and Blaze's emotional pain was apparent in every decision he made. This wonderful story of dynamic characters learning to trust in each other and share heartfelt feelings was a pleasure to read. More Please!!!!!
The dragon King of Kings is startled when during the hunt for a human mate, one of the females he and his friend have closed in on turns the tables on them by rejecting his friend by kneeing him in the groin. Following that, she runs throwing herself into the kings arms and kissing him royally. The story continues with the king being continuously physically attracted to the female but rejecting any emotional bonding due to a disastrous prior relationship. This amusing and sensual story comes to its conclusion with the couple breaking up only to find they must be honest about their true feelings versus what is the right thing to do.
After a long relationship that ends badly, Roxy decides to give a match service a try. The service matches with paranormals, but Roxy plans to use the trial period to make sure there is potential for a love match before committing. But then finds herself part of a bride hunt where the matches track them and fight for them. In the end she is caught by Blaze, a fire dragon shifter. The next major part of the story is lots of sex. Then we get back to her issue of only settling for true love and the plot moves forward. Still a very simple story but substantially better than the first two entries in this series, so a little upgrade in the rating.
