If anyone can resist a man in uniform, it should be Becca …
As the young widow of a Soldier, the sister of a Navy SEAL commander, and the business partner of a handful of tempting SEALs, Becca Shey-Corridan knows all too well that those sexy-as-sin uniforms can come with a lot of heartache.
Now, she prefers a simpler life, focusing on raising her son and running the ice cream shop she and her late husband once dreamed of opening together when he retired from the military.
She has no interest in falling for another Army officer... until a chance meeting in the woods with Delta Force squadron commander Liam Carter changes her life forever.
As the snow falls on her first holiday in her new home, will destiny give Becca a second chance at love?
When Kate Aster was in fifth grade, she wrote her debut novel on a spiral-bound notebook–a science fiction which ended with the tragic destruction of all humanity.
Fortunately, she’s gotten a lot more upbeat.
Now preferring romantic settings and blissfully happy endings, Kate just released her eighth book available on Amazon.

This book made me laugh, cry, smile and say finally . This book was great from start to finish. I couldn't put it down. I loved how this author portrayed the hardships military families face with deployments. I know it's hard loosing a loved one,but it's even harder knowing they went willingly to war. The fear, dread, and the pride families feel. I really was rooting for her throughout to take the plunge, just didn't figure literally lol. I know for a fact, ladies love a man in uniform and who wouldn't,strong men who make the military their life. This book has it all tragedies ,humor, and fate. Can't fight fate. This author gives you it all with this book can't wait for the next one.
Kate Aster can write a military romance like no other. I just adored the premise of how Becca and Liam met the first time and then to be reunited 2 years later. The characters were fantastic, and I really couldn't get enough of Liam. He was just perfect and everything I love in a book boyfriend. Becca is a strong character as a widow and single mom, and I loved when she took Liam out in the snow to be a kid again. I absolutely loved the ending! Overall a fantastic read and I can't wait for more!
We were introduced to Becca in the first book of this series and this is her story. She moved to Annapolis to open a business with some SEALS as investors and to be close to her brother. This is a story of overcoming the fears that come with not just being a military spouse, but losing her husband. Her ten year old son is wise beyond his years, and he comes across as a good kid who loves his mom.
If possible, would've finished reading in 1 sitting
5 stars because I was into it enough to stay up way past my bedtime. No cliffhangers either like the 1st book, and I liked all the characters. Is the story perfect, free of grammatical errors, and completely plausible? I guess you'll just have to read it for yourself.
Becca was married but her Army husband was killed leaving her to raise their son. She has not moved to Annapolis to open an ice cream shop as that had been their retirement dream. She is renting an apartment with her son. Unbeknownst to her the adult son of the owners is a current Delta Force officer who she met a few years earlier. Liam was attracted before and is attracted now but Becca is scared to fall for another serviceman both for herself and her son. This is the story of how Liam hangs in there and Becca learns to overcome her fears.
First book by this author I’ve read, can’t believe I’ve not discovered these books before! Loved the story and writing style and a few gripping moments too! Read it as a standalone and was easy to follow although not first in series but I am definitely hitting the back catalogue now! Should see me through the dreary winter lockdown this year ...
Two thumbs way up for Kate Aster. I absolutely adored this book. Liam and Becca are oh so right for each other. The writing is fabulous and the plot is divine. I'm definitely reading more from Kate Aster IMMEDIATELY!
Becca and her son Brandon have moved across the country to open an ice cream shop. Once there she is surprised that the landlord's son is Liam; the soldier that did a huge favour for her son years earlier.
When you survive losing your spouse you realize just how strong you are. Becca is strong not just for herself but also for Brandon. Can she be strong enough to love again? Can Liam be strong enough to show her she can take the risk in them?
Becca and Liam meet then go their separate ways. When two years later they are brought together again, will they find their HEA? They have some very sticky situations to get through to find out. Can't wait for next book
I couldn't be hard on Becca for her feelings and reasoning. But as bad as I felt bad for Liam, I also had to admire his honor and respect. A wonderful story and great characters ...... BUT, I hate snow and cold weather!
Two lovable and relatable, adult characters and one incredible kid fill out a terrific story that encompasses love, fear, frustration, and more love. The emotions are palpable, the sex is hot and the story is wonderful.
I have thoroughly enjoyed these books as evidenced by the fact that I have paid for the ones that were not offered free ! Never having been to Annapolis, it is now on my bucket list.
I really enjoyed this book. It truly brings home the struggle any military couple deals with on deployments as well as the struggles of loss. Truly excellent read.
I loved this story so much. Becca and Liam fated to be together. I believe that happens. I was so emotional at the end. The story moved me from the first time they met. Good for them!
I wanted to scream in frustration at Becca, the heroine. But it all works out well in the end. This is a well written, well edited, intelligent book. I recommend it highly. Read and enjoy!
Quite charming - a young army widow meets gorgeous guy whilst out with her son, he helps them then they go on their way. A couple of years later they meet again. This is a typical love story but it's well-written and makes you smile and feel good as you read. Both characters are well drawn so you feel you know them and the plot rides along well.
