Bound and determined, Chase tries his best to run his newest partner, Landry Malone, far and away from his family’s dude ranch. This is his family’s legacy and there is no room for gold diggers. Landry, given the chance of a lifetime, thanks to the last wishes of her best friend, does what she has to do to prove that she is worthy of her friend’s precious gift. Thrown into this together, Landry and Chase must work through their personal feelings to see that the ranch doesn’t fail. And somewhere along the way feelings for one another grow. But is it real for either or all just a sham?
I found WINNING OVER THE COWBOY to be such an enjoyable and delightful read. The plot of the story was wonderful and it called to me whenever I wasn’t reading. I have said this before and I will say it again, that alone makes it a wonderful book. You get so caught up in the story and the characters; you just want to run back to them at any given chance. What I loved most about the characters, is both Landry and Chase’s love for their family, friends, and of course the Lord. It is absolutely refreshing to find a story nowadays that openly talks about God. And of course if you throw a cowboy in there, what is not to love? 4 Stars!
Landry's dream has always been to own her own dude ranch. By no means did she hope to gain that dude ranch through her best friends death. According to Eden's will Landry and Eden's brother Chase are now co-owners of the dude ranch and must find a way to work together. The only problem is that neither trusts the other. Landry has just been dumped at the alter by her fiance so she cannot afford to trust another man in her life and Chase thinks that Landry is just a gold digging usurper bent on stealing his family inheritance away from him. Chase comes up with a plan to get Landry to sell him her half of the ranch, but will it backfire on him?
Awww, I really enjoyed Landry and Chase's characters. They were both rather adorable and of course meant for each other. I did get frustrated at their assumptions about each other. It seemed that they would take a step forward in their relationship and then two steps back, but they eventually got there. I loved the whole concept of the dude ranch and the way that Landry and Chase managed to work together to promote their different areas of interest. The spiritual aspect of the story was light with mentions of going to church and a need for trust, but not overly preachy. A sweet story with likable characters.
Perfect blend of humour and angst. Chase is so grumpy when Landry first arrives at the dude ranch and his attempts to scare her off turn comedic as Landry shows him up every time. Love her confidence and determination in the face of such blatant disregard. Anger turns to grudging respect as the days go by and Chase has to admit that Landry's not only fit for the job but has a lot of innovative ideas that could help the business. He just can't figure out her angle -- sure she's a gold digger or con-artist. I loved watching Landry prove him wrong and then their hearts become entangled and the sparks start flying and Vannatter leads these two on a merry chase before their happily ever after becomes a reality. Awesomesauce from beginning to end!
I recently discovered Vannatter and her books are quite good. I love a cowboy story and she tells them quite well. I could identify with the characters and the plot was good. I'm looking forward to reading more.
I loved this book. Landry Malone inherits half of a dude ranch. Chase Donovan is not happy. He tests her everyway he can and Landry meets his match.
They argue about what to do but come up with ways for the ranch to make money. She works to business side and he work to rides and tours.
He starts feeling attracted to her. She is getting over Kyle her financee leaving her at the alter. Then finds out he is engaged.
She is hurt and angry. She face her cousins wedding and people begin to think that her and chase are a couple.
They continue to work together when she over heard part of a conversation and is going to leave.
It is then that Chase tells her that he loves her and wants to marry her. She is not sure until she looks in to his eyes and see what she has been wanting all her live. A man who loves her for her.
Winning Over The Cowboy by Shannon Taylor Vannatter a Texas Cowboys series. Chase Donovan's sister passes away. She owns a dude ranch she got from her grandparents. When she passed away she left half the dude ranch to her brother and half to her best friend Landry Malone. Chase thinks Landry is only after the money. At the beginning Chase test what Landry knows about a dude ranch and what she can do. A romance story with some conflicts.
This is a book of suspicion, overcoming grief. Love and happiness. The main characters are brought together after the death of a best friend and beloved sister. She has left the family ranch to each equally providing they work together for a year. Suspicion of motives, sharing of memories and friendship with the help of a faith based relationship with supporting family help the couple during this journey. Past relationships resurface and the outcome is a happy ending.
Landry Malone’s fiesty determination keeps Chase Donovan off-balance in his efforts to regain full control of his family’s Texas dude ranch. As much fun as it is to watch Landry rise to his every challenge, the real surprise in Winning Over the Cowboy is the supporting cast of characters. From Chase’s parents, Elliot and Janice, to the Fletchers to Resa McCall - these characters bid you to unpack your bags and settle in at Chasing Eden Dude Ranch. Stay a spell. You’ll be so glad you did!
A heart-warming romance between two people who never dream they're made for each other. Although tragedy brings these two unwilling business partners together, their story is still a great mix of lighthearted banter and sobering reality. I love this story!
A fun romance with the theme of letting go of the past, learning to trust and changes that brought smiles and tears while reading. The characters were well developed with flaws and strengths. Nothing is impossible when faith is in the equation as the beloved characters and family experienced.
This is a sweet romance with a few twists and turns. Set in Texas on a dude ranch where two characters finally find what each have been looking for, but didn't know it. This story has elements of mystery, humor, romance and faith. The characters are both easy to love. They show both real and raw emotions. For me this was a quick read, but the characters stayed on my mind even after reading the last page. Landry weaved her way into my heart quickly. Landry Malone is a little broken, but she is determined to pick up the pieces. She was happily engaged and never in her wildest dreams did she expect the groom to walk out before they spoke their vows, but that's exactly what happened. Is she heartbroken, maybe a little, but more embarrassed than anything else. Her unexpected inheritance of half a dude ranch could be exactly what she needs right now. Her character really impressed me with the fact she had been dealt two blows in a short period of time, but she didn't let that control her life. She is very determined to let her actions speak for her character. Chase Donovan traveled abroad for years, but returned with the death of his grandmother. He enjoyed being a guide at the ranch, but dealing with an inexperienced partner was not what he had signed on for especially when her knew she had ulterior motives.
