Great little quick read. Romance, mystery and humor. I figured out who was to blame but never would have guessed how and why. Insight into living a life in the spotlight with the paparazzi and body guards day in and day out. I really enjoyed it.
Lady Annabelle is a princess, whose uncle is the king of the island of Mirraccino. She's staying at the king's palace trying to figure out the circumstances that led to the untimely death of her mother, since this is the island where her mother grew up. Lady Annabelle was trying expand the tourism so she set up a meeting with Grayson, the CEO of successful cafe's that cater to a younger crowd. Grayson has things in his past that haunt him. He and Lady Annabelle begin a friendship, let down their guard and open up to each other. This book is a fast paced page turner and I couldn't put it down. Jennifer Faye is a fantastic author and I highly recommend this book!
Welcome back to the Royals from Mirraccino. Lady Annabelle DiSalva is out to solve the mystery surrounding the death of her mother. She is surrounded by bodyguards all of the time and just wants freedom to do what she wants to do. Greyson Landers, millionaire is doing his best to hide out from the paparazzi that is hounding him. He is in Mirraccino to check out a possible business venture. I loved this book. Jennifer Faye has added to her love story a little mystery that made the book even better. I was intrigued to see what the mystery was and how it would play out. . And was immediately drawn into the story. the mystery, and the clues found had me thinking back to my childhood and the secret messages and secret codes I used with my friends. And I did try to solve the code before it was done in the book. This was a great mix of love, mystery, and keeping the reader engaged through out the whole story. I was left with wanting a little bit more. Another great read from Jennifer Faye.
This is what I would call a typical 'sweet and fluffy' Harlequin romance. I struggled to get into it a little bit. At times, the descriptions were amazing; beautifully detailed, lavish descriptions of scenery; and at others things were just skimmed over. The example I'm going to give is when Grayson and Annabelle had to 'mix chemicals' to try and regenerate some faded ink for an old document. Some more detail here would have been really interesting; maybe a little scene where they both joked about being bad at chemistry at school (cue personal chemistry).
Perhaps the oddest omission was the book's one and only love scene. At least, I THINK it was a love scene. We seemed to skip straight from Grayson deciding to give in to Annabelle's attempt to seduce him, to the following morning and them both being angry with each other.
It's perfectly OK to write explicit, or gently skimmed-over, or even fade to black love scenes. Leaving your reader uncertain whether it actually happened, and if so, what happened in the aftermath (was it bad? did she ask him to leave? did he storm out in a rage?) is just strange. I had to flip back and forth a couple of times in the e-book to be sure I hadn't skipped a page accidentally.
The plot was intriguing, the characters well-drawn, but I have to admit that I ended the book with a slight sense of frustration because it seemed like there were things missing. I don't know if the author needed to get in under a certain word count and made the decision to cut certain scenes, but I felt like this book would have been greatly improved by fleshing-out a lot of things that were just skimmed over.
Enjoyable, but should probably have been about 20k words longer.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for review through NetGalley.
What a sweet read, it did start a little slow for me but when it took off it was a great read. The author gives you lovely details in some areas which really make it easy to picture the scenes in your mind. There were places I thought more detail was needed that let a few things unanswered and the reader guessing, for the most part it was a good read. I really thought the plot was intriguing, with wonderful characters. The writing was good just needed more detail in some areas which I have already said. ****************
I found this a quick read - and totally enjoyable. I loved the characters - even if they do live in an exalted world. But that's why I read books - to escape. So I found Lady Annabelle and Grayson Landers fun to get to know - and enjoyed watching them solve the mystery together. I always enjoy books by Jennifer Faye - and this one was another lovely story.
This is a very enjoyable quick read that I would definitely recommend. These characters are very likeable and you want them to find their way. The storyline isn't anything new but I did like the mystery and suspense elements to the story. Royals, romance, and mystery are blended perfectly in this one. The writing is excellent and for a relaxing afternoon read this one fits the bill.
THE MILLIONAIRE'S ROYAL RESCUE left me breathless! This captivating story, set in the beautiful Mediterranean, has danger, intrigue and for Lady Annabelle and Grayson they find love. I loved it and highly recommend! Ms. Faye is a favorite Author. I can always count oh her for a feel good read.
This was a quick read with likable characters, but story-wise, not very original. There are a lot of same-theme stories these days that is difficult to differentiate. For that reason alone, I guess I was expecting something more creative & original in keeping to this type of storyline. Still enjoyed it however.....
Mysteries, I love them. Jennifer Faye's The Millionaire's Royal Rescue was that and so much more. Humorous, romantic, and intriguing, this book had me with a pen and paper trying to decipher the coded mystery before it was revealed. Absolutely one of the most enjoyable and entertaining books I've ever read. If you're a fan who loves trying to solve a mystery before its revealed, this is the book for you. Very well written and superbly executed.
Definitely a buy book........ Another royal modern romance however, with a few surprises! This was not just a romance, it had crime as well as mystery. A modern day life romance with twists and business as well as other surprises. I was impressed by the authors way of writing. The book has good characters and plots and pulls you in before you know it. I kept reading because I wanted to know what would happen next. It was hard for me at times to relate as this type of romance is not usual to my reading genre. However, that did not stop the enjoyment of it. I give 4 stars due to my own opinion of strength of character for the heroine as well as the hero. I was only disappointed in one thing...... That it did not wrap up to my way of liking for the heroes life as it did for the heroines. it felt like a few strings were left. That is why I took off one star. Maybe not fair... but that is why. Otherwise this was a very good read! Totally enjoyable. I was given this book in return for an honest review. Anna Swedenmom
Jennifer's books always want me to never have them end and this is another one to add to it. It has a touch of suspense with love on the side, which makes for a great read. Millionaire Grayson Landers, who is headed out of town to the Island of Mirraccino to escape the paparazzi, he than meets Lady Annabelle DiSalvo and he gets thrown back into the photographers cameras, which he was trying to avoid. Annabelle asks for Grayson's help to solve the mysterious circumstances regarding her mother's death. As they get closer to the answer, they find that instead of being friends it turns in to love.

Harlequin Romances have always been right next to Harlequin Presents as soft, gentle stories with very little romantic encounters. Although this one was lighter than usual. The flow was stuttering at times, but it did give a complete story with interesting characters that with time will solidify. As the beginning to an opening for a multi-author series "The Millionaire's Royal Rescue" is not bad. With different styles being in involved maybe Miss Faye wanted to leave them a little bland.
Give her time and she'll improve.
My rating of "The Millionaire's Royal Rescue" is 3.75 out of 5 stars.
In full disclosure, I was part of Jennifer Faye's review crew when I was originally given this title for review. I read the book almost immediately and then life happened and 6 months later, I'm re-reading the book to write this much overdue review.
The Millionaire's Royal Rescue is set in a small fictional Mediterranean nation. Annabelle is the king's niece and has been under strict guard most of her life. When we first meet her, she's attempting to assert her independence. She's taken on a revitalization project in a older section in town and she's also attempting to learn more about her mother's murder. As part of that revitalization project, Annabelle is expecting to meet with an executive from an internet cafe company. But imagine her surprise when she's face to face with the CEO, Grayson, and he just caught the thief that snatched her purse. Then there's Grayson... He decides to go on this business trip to get away and doesn't expect to be back in the limelight or attracted to Annabelle. So how is this all going to play out?
I liked both Annabelle and Grayson. They both had issues that they needed to overcome before they could really act on the attraction between them. And throw in the murder mystery and the fact that they are potential business partners, and there are a lot of forces working against them. We know there is going to be a happily ever after -- it is a romance after all -- but the journey to that point kept me interested and turning the pages.
I originally gave this book a 4 star review and even upon re-reading, that rating stands. This is an enjoyable read for those that like their romances in exotic locales and a little light mystery thrown in.
Lady Annabelle has been tailed by her security guard since her mothers death. Her father is convinced it isn't just a simple mugging and now her father wants guards. Annabelle just wants freedom from being under the watchful eyes of everyone and wants to prove herself. In comes Grayson who can help her, things get a bit complicated when Annabelle finds some messages from her mother and shes getting threats. Now shes and Grayson are on a mission to solve the mystery that is her mothers notes and what really happened.
I really liked this book I just thought that it was a romance book but there was a bit of mystery to it as well. I enjoyed the characters and learning a bit about them. I thought the backstories where interesting as well, I loved that bit of mystery aspect and seeing Annabelle and Grayson work together. I loved that when Annabelle was starting to focus a bit to much on negative things Grayson helped balance things out to keep her grounded and to live a bit. If you are looking for a clean romance then this book is for you. Overall I thought it was sweet and interesting and I love a bit of mystery.
The book was my first experience with this author. The plot and characters are well written. Even though the romance felt a little rushed, the Millionaire’s Royal Rescue is everything you would expect from a Harlequin romance. It was quick and sweet. The connection between them did feel a little rushed, but it was still an enjoyable read. I’m looking forward to checking out more reads by this author.
The cover plus the author plus the story equals a wonderful book. Everything the plot of the book is just so good. It will have you wondering what is next and there are just so many twists it is one of the hardest books to put down. I couldn't I read it cover to cover and found it to be a grand slam of a book!
I found this to be an easy read. I found it lacked on sub-plot building. The character building was mostly there but the plot regarding the murder of her mother was lacking.
Grayson Landers, is a millionaire geek who happens to be in Mirracino checking out a possible location for his gaming enterprise. While visiting he is hoping to escape from all the paparazzi that always seem to follow him around.
Before he realizes it, he is a hero by coming to the rescue of Annabelle who is the niece of the King of Mirracino. When her pocketbook is stolen by a thief in the streets he runs after and tackles the man and gets the pocketbook and also the thief.
Annabelle is trying to be an independent women but her father is afraid for her safety and has her protected 24/7 which is something she does not want. Unfortunately, since her mother was murdered her father feels it is his job to protect her. When Annabelle finds a cryptic type note in her mother's belongs she feels maybe her mother's murder was not an accident as her father has told her all these years.
Thru the help of Grayson they embark on a journey to try and find out if her mother's death was planned or an accident. As we know from Ms. Faye's previous books sparks fly between the two and more is at stake than just the possible opening of his latest gaming site but is love a possibility? The book is an easy and very enjoyable read and one the reader will find hard to put down.
Welcome back to the Royals of Mirraccino! Lady Annabelle DiSalvo, niece of the King, daughter of the Duke, only wants her freedom from her security detail that has been with her ever since her Mother was murdered eleven years earlier. She is hoping that if she shows her father she is capable and responsible by handling some of the South Shore Project, he will give her her freedom. But, she also wants to solve the mystery surrounding her mother's death, she just has a feeling it was more than a mugging. Grayson Landers is trying to get away from the paparazzi after an incident he wants to forget back in the U.S., so he decides to handle the decisions of where his new shops will be himself. How do they meet? Grayson stops a thief from stealing her purse, a purse that contains her mother's journals! After introductions are made and they get Grayson a place to stay at the palace, the adventure begins! Annabelle finds a strange note among the pages the journal and Grayson helps her find the meaning of that note. I loved this story, it has everything, friendship, romance, intrigue, adventure, a little danger and of course, Love.
A royal rescue sets the stage for two unlikely hearts find each other! A fun read with a little bit of intrigue mixed into the romance.
Millionaire Grayson Landers thought escaping the United States for awhile would end his need to hide from a pack of reporters, but the next thing you know, he's in the middle of another media blitz because he just rescued the king's niece from a thief!
Lady Annabelle Di Salvo is very thankful to the handsome stranger, and when she realizes he's the man she's supposed to be meeting with for some possible development in the country, she's happy to get to see him again! As they enjoy each other's company, Annabelle comes across some clues that might lead to information in her mother's murder. She can't turn her back on trying to figure out if there's something to it, and Grayson agrees to help her.
He is reeling from some past trauma himself, and her infinity to not care about the consequences and place herself in danger again and again doesn't sit well with him. Will they be able to overcome their differences when sparks fly and see where this attraction might lead?
I really enjoyed the suspense that evolved in this story around how Lady Annabelle DiSalvo's mother died. Throw in the sexy Grayson Landers who Annabelle is trying to convince to build a gaming cafe in Mirraccino and you have a romance filled with intrigue, mystery, and desire. What more could a reader ask for? I received an advance copy of this book for my honest review.
I love Jennifer Faye's books but this one took me a little bit to get into. Once I did, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Lady Annabelle has had bodyguards around her ever since her mother was murdered. The police said it was just a mugging gone wrong but her father feels differently. In spite of the guards Annabelle wants to prove something to her father. She has her sites set on bringing Fro Shizzle, a gaming coffee shop that caters to the younger crowd, to Mirraccino. This would be a feather in her cap and great for Mirraccino if she can achieve this.
Grayson Landers is the owner of Fro Shizzle. He has come to Mirraccino to tour the area where he may possibly build. He meets Annabelle when a young thief grabs her purse and makes off with it. Grayson goes after him and Holds him until the police arrive. This is just the beginning. You just know there will be an attraction between Grayson and Annabelle, but can it go anywhere?
You will just have to read the book to find out. A few twists and turns but all in all an enjoyable read. I always look forward to Jennifer Faye's books.
Excellent book. Start to a new series by Jennifer Faye. I couldn't put it down. Lady Annabelle DiSalvo wants to be under the protection of her father and her uncle no more. That's a little easier said then done. When your uncle is the king, and your father is the Duke of Halencia. There was a murder out there. She wanted to prove to both with bringing something new to the island of Mirraccino they would see she didn't need all the bodyguards. It would all count on the deal she had with Millionaire Grayson Landers.
When Grayson first meets Annabelle he finds her nice and pretty. He doesn't have time for it. Soon things take a turn that become dangerous as she can't leave alone what happened to her mother. He doesn't know why but he helps her.
Annabelle has to get Grayson to build his cafe in Mirraccino. She finds herself trusting him in the mystery of her mothers death.
See what happens between Annabelle and Grayson. Will get make the deal with her? And will she have the answers she's searching for?
When I purchased The Millionaire’s Royal Rescue, I didn’t realize it was part of a set of books by Jennifer Faye called Mirraccino Marriages. This is definitely a standalone but it is book 1. I enjoy those kinds of surprises! Lady Annabelle DiSalvo and Grayson Landers definitely have a different sort of first meeting but their immediate connection and subsequent “dance” are so very enjoyable. Annabelle is a sheltered Duke’s daughter from a principality in Europe and Grayson is a high powered CEO of a company looking to expand worldwide. Both Annabelle and Grayson have deep, dark things in their pasts that truly affect their present lives. To watch these two grow closer, and work on their trust issues, makes for a wonderful love story. I really liked Grayson, sometimes wanted to make Annabelle stop to think about other people (rather than pursuing her own agenda) but her motives were pure. When they eventually get to their HEA, it is truly sweet. I’m looking forward to the next book, about Annabelle’s brother, Luca.
A touch of suspense is entwined with a lovely romance in this enjoyable new book from Jennifer Faye. Millionaire Grayson Landers needed to escape the paparazzi in America, so he headed for the island of Mirraccino. When he meets Lady Annabelle DiSalvo he's thrust back into the flash of a photographer's camera. Annabelle enlists Grayson's help to solve the mystery of her mother's death. As they get closer to a killer, their friendship grows into a love that could last forever.
