Special Agent Jada Alexander has a great life working for the ATF’s S.E.E.K. unit, but she wishes her nights were filled with more than just Netflix marathons with her fur babies. She yearns for companionship, and while her quirks and fandoms keep her utterly entertained, it’s not the same as having someone to come home to.
When a blast from her past comes back into Jada’s life, she’s thrown for a loop, especially when both Dali and Poe act nothing like the dog and cat she’s come to know and love. They immediately accept the irresistible Nicklaus, and she begins to wonder if she has found her soul mate, her very own Viking god to warm her dark nights.
Until Klaus shatters her heart and tells her that he only wants her as a friend, that he’s not ready for a relationship. The problem…she’s already half in love with him, and now their lives are so intertwined, she might lose more than just the guy she was hoping to have forever with. She may lose all of her friends from Dallas Fire and Rescue, as well.
Jada’s life becomes much like the movies and songs constantly cycling through her head, but the question is, will she get her happily ever after with the matching ballad soundtrack, or will it be a tragedy with a death metal score?
BIO USA Today Bestselling Author, Tigris Eden loves reading and writing. One of Tigris’ fondest memories, was in the sixth grade, when her teacher read her story, “The Case of The Missing Pepperoni”, out loud to the class. It was then she decided she wanted to be a writer when she grew up. But like all childhood dreams, reality has a way of crashing in and disrupting plans. But her imagination and the voices inside her head never stopped talking. Every dream she could remember was jotted down in her dream journals.
When she’s not writing Tigris marvel’s at life’s gifts. She likes to take pictures of beautiful things. She openly admits that what she may find beautiful another person might not, and she’s perfectly okay with that. She enjoys her music and doesn’t leave home without it. Long pillow conversations with LL about nonsensical things, and hanging out with her boys, when they deem her “cool enough.”
Tigris is a military brat who’s done her fair share of travelling, thanks to her Army father. She’s married to the infamous LL and has three boys. She currently resides in Houston and is actively seeking a book-buddy for the end of the world.
You can find Tigris on Twitter, Facebook, and at her website.
10 Stars Mere words cannot express how much I loved this book. I will be re-reading this book over and over again. For me, Tigris hit this one out of the park. I loved this heroine, though there were a couple of pivotal moments I would have handled quite differently if I were in her shoes, hey ... different strokes for different folks ... I still loved this book.
This novella is a contemporary story that is part of the Dallas Fire and Rescue kindle world project but I had no trouble in understanding what was going on. I liked Jada, she's dedicated , compassionate and such a cool heroine with truly funny internal monologues . Her life is lonely though and if it wasn't for her much loved pets ( who at times seemed almost human!) Jada would be well and truly stumped! It's ok though she's settled in a home she loves, working hard to find out who keeps mounting the recent spate of arson attacks and now all she really needs is her own Prince Charming ! Well how about a seriously hot Viking? Oh yes the reappearance of Nicklaus whose now working for the fire service certainly sets Jadas heart ( and other things!) fluttering . Yet it's one step forward and two steps back! Add in a seriously weird connection that they share and it's getting more complicated by the hour! Yet in spite of all the emotional baggage Klaus brings Jada out of her shell but that happy ever after is slipping further away! Well you just know that a sexy Viking type gets my vote but there's an intensity to Klaus that's only revealed when his tragic past comes to light. I wanted so much for this couple to find a way forward but Klaus oh you silly man I couldn't believe your later actions! Well Jada is more forgiving than me and that's a fact! Stars of the show though are definitely Poe the cat and Dali the Labrador as they steal every scene they are in. I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review
The gloriousness of Tigris Eden never ceases to amaze. Yet another book where Tigris Eden has just blown my expectations for how good she is out of the water. I swear with every book her writing just becomes better and better. So much love. I will try and refrain from gushing for the entire review, but no promises.
Special Agent Jada Alexander works for the fire department with her dog to detect how the fires were caused. She’s spent a good portion of her life working and hasn’t had a lot of luck with men. Especially since her cat and dog won’t let anyone other than perfection touch her body; and that hasn’t happened yet. When she’s about to have a very hot one-night stand with the yummiest man she’s ever seen she finds a wedding ring and busts butt to get out of there. Now a while later Jada is running into her sexy Viking of a man yet again and this time he’s intent on keeping her. Becoming more than friends with benefits with Klaus seems impossible, especially after he shares a secret that connects them to each other.
Wowza I was just blown away by Affinity. Such a great story.
Jada is such a cute sassy character. She’s hard working and so funny and always honest. I love how she stands up for herself and owns her inner girl power throughout the book. I also love that she wallows in sadness when she has a break-up and wants to avoid Klaus. So realistic.
Klaus and Jada’s relationship is so cute and super complicated. Klaus has a lot of baggage and sadly that comes out for a bit in their relationship which ends up hurting Jada a lot. I just love them together. I like that it wasn’t only about sex, since they had dates and actual conversations.
If you have yet to read any books by Tigris Eden you need to get it together and go pick up one of her books. This one is good. Think about it.
What a rollercoaster! Going by the blurb, everything mentioned is exactly what was in this book. However, I was surprised with the timeline, often jumping months (and years) at a time. I don't know that I got a real sense of either character or their relationship. The focus was more on individual encounters to tell the story, with Jada filling in the blanks in between by breaking the 4th wall and having the character talk straight to the reader. And I'm fine with that most of the time. But because we didn't see much of the couple together between flashpoints, I feel we needed more to support their relationship.
Overall, if you are looking for a fast-paced, "fated" romance, then I think you might like this one ... though the rough edges may not be for everyone.
Jada is one very bad assed woman who lives by her rules. This book is full of tension and passion, the push pull of what she wants and won't settle for. When she meets Klaus, her deceased friends husband, sparks fly. Overall an interesting story but it did leave me with a few unanswered questions. Lots of references to movies, songs and tv shows.
This story sucks you in right from the start. Jada is such a cool person, her internal monologues are crazy and wild and just like mine, I can not only hear her, I can FEEL her while reading her thoughts. She is strong, she is sweet, she is absolutely great and we'd be besties for sure if she was real and we ever met. And I never ever would treat her like her best friend in the book (whom I disliked from sentence one - she was very well written, inspired feelings directly as did Jada but the other direction). Her viking? Oh well. Not my kind of man. But I am different than most women, I am often told, and other readers may absolutely fall for him and his arrogant, dominant, alpha way of dealing with everything, hot and cold within seconds and always so "right". Or so he behaves.
Their relationship is a real rollercoaster, whirls the reader round and round and kept me dizzy but needing to know what happens next and my heart absolutely broke. Broke. Into. Pieces! And see, I already start thinking like her, she captured my heart so completely... But when I read the end I got flat out mad. Spitting mad. Furious. And I know that most readers won't get it and I don't want to spoiler but I had wished for a very different one.
But it was excellently written and really a wild ride!
Affinity was not what I expected it to be but I really enjoyed this story. Jada and Nicklaus have an intense connection when they first meet. They end up getting hot and bothered together but lines are crossed and they go their separate ways. Three years later Jada is stable in her new well paying job when she runs into Klaus at a cookout. Jada is aggravated that she's still insanely attracted to him. He tells her that they should just be friends because he's not ready to be in a relationship after a tragic experience. They start hanging out as friends and eventually start developing feelings. Klaus decides to end everything because he feels he isn't emotionally available or capable to have a relationship. This is extremely painful for Jada. Will Klaus stop being a coward and claim the woman he wants? Or will Jada move on with someone who is ready for a relationship. This was an amazing book and I loved the epilogue
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jada loves her pets Poe and Dali while out she meets this Viking of a man Klaus she is instantly attracted to him and things don’t go well and it’s three years later when she meets him again. Klaus has a painful past and he also works as the mechanic for the firefighters Jada often hangs out with. Jada has had her heart broken in the past and still hasn’t found her Prince Charming when she finds out Klau’s past she knows they should not be together and he only wants to be friends. This is my first Tigris book and Jada and Klaus I just loved them. Jada is a digging kind of girl she loves Thor and action movies and some of the things she comes up with in her head. There is something Klaus did that I didn’t like and it took him a while to get his head out of his butt. Jada should have made him work for forgiveness . But other then this this novella was a gem and I loved the ending I voluntarily received an arc copy through Booksprout for my honest review.
Affinity is a short book that spans a longer period of time because there are jumps in time. It tells the love story of ATF agent Jada and mechanic Klaus. I liked Jada. She was pretty self-aware and unapologetic about herself and her desires. I am surprised by how much I disliked Klaus. He has a tragic backstory which would usually tug my heartstrings, but his actions negated any sympathy I felt. Jada’s pets, dog Dali and cat Poe, were a definite highlight of the book. Dali is a service dog and Jada is her handler. The epilogue is told from Dali’s POF and is very sweet.
I listened to the audiobook. I did not realize it was AI narrated when I bought it. I have listened to another AI narrated book and it was okay. This one was not. It pretty much sounded like Alexa reading the book. I recommend you skip the audiobook and read the eBook instead.
Jada, an ATF agent, meets Nicklaus, a fire department mechanic, on her last night in her hometown before moving to Dallas. As the story progresses misunderstandings are cleared up, a closer connection is discovered, and learning to let go is harder than it seems. Tigris Eden’s Affinity is a heart wrenching read about love, loss, and moving on. Throw in some intuitive animals, new lifelong friends, and a mystery and you’ve got an exciting romance read.
I received a free copy of the book from the author via Booksprout. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Affinity is the first book in the Soulful Hearts series. Jada is an ATF agent who needs to get a life outside of the one she has with Poe the cat and Dali the Labrador (the funniest creatures ever). Nicklaus is a fire department mechanic who has lots of baggage in his past and has no interest in a permanent relationship.
This is a very well-written story with drama, humour, hot chemistry, and love and loss. I cannot wait to read more by this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book with no obligation.
Let me begin by saying that although this particular book had items in it that I questions that everyone would know about their best friend and especially if they are both from a small town, I was able to look past that in reading the book. I love a story where the characters have to go through some stuff and this book delivered emotionally on that for me. I truly enjoyed the connections and the conflicts between the two main characters and watching that play out on the pages.
The start of the series called Soulful Hearts and also part of the Dallas Fire and Rescue series a well written story. This is Special ATF’s S.E.E.K. Agent Jada Alexander and Nicklaus Ingels the mechanic with D.F.and R. I enjoyed her cat Poe and her dog Dali part in the story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Oh. My. God. I LOVE JADA! This book had me laughing so hard, Jada is so crazy, so perfect. Fell in love with this story. I'm a fan of Tigris, she writes amazing characters. Highly recommend. A steamy, funny, heartwarming, awesome book!
I just loved this book Jada is a fantastic character that had me laughing out loud at times and while I did like Klaus I think he should think himself lucky I would have taken a lot longer to forgive him. This was a super book and I will definitely be looking for more from this author.
This is a cute story with some angst and humor. It's a very good and fairly quick read that really sucks you in. The dialogue is great! Nicklaus, also known as Klaus, and Jada are great together until they are not. I thoroughly enjoyed this well written story. Love the characters!
I absolutely loved this book. I like that the heroine speaks to herself and the reader which really gives an insight to her character. Full of humour and sexual tension. A worthy read.

First the form. All this internal rambling was exhausting. It made it hard to concentrate on the story. I love animals but this trend of children/momma is really weird to me. We know what Klaus looks like but not Jada, Amelia or Nico. It was really frustrating. As for the content too many things were missing. We know Klaus is from Iceland but how did he turn up in the States, in Dallas? How did he meet Amelia? The meets with her ex seem to come out of nowhere and weren’t really helping the story. Her best friend basically disappeared after the night club and that’s strange. Tasha came across as really boring, never doing anything and we didn’t really get an understanding as to what her job was. The worst though for me was first of all how after 3 months he basically destroyed her by telling her all this stuff about not being Amelia. To be fair I don’t understand why she made a scene about his flirting because she insisted they were friends. His behavior was crude but she shouldn’t have reacted. The dust up in the grocery store was cringe worthy. There’s no way after someone basically humiliated that I would tell them that I love them. Them to have him come to her house 6 months later so a whole 9 months after the big blowout and tell her she’s his and for her to just be ok was insane. There was no real apology, he didn’t even know if she had someone else, he didn’t make it clear that he wanted to build something. It was all to quick for my liking and frankly disrespectful. The ending was also very abrupt. We got to read a bit more of their relationship viewed by the dog and wow too much and kind of silly.
Overall, I enjoyed this story. I'm not used to shorter ones from Tigris that don't have an additional story following for the couple, so it felt a little rushed to me at times. I liked Jada's quirky personality and Klaus's playful, yet sexy side. The animals were a cute addition even though I am not an animal lover. I do think that Jada forgave him almost too quickly, but it was months later and she understood what his issues were. I know there are more stories to come, so I hope these 2 make an appearance.
Special agent Jada Alexander is in the ATF with her sniffer dog. They have been working with the Dallas fire service. She owns a farm with no animals on it yet, just her two fur babies. Nicklaus Aegir is a mechanic with the Dallas fire service. He also has a very heavy load of emotional baggage. This is part of a kindle world series that I have been reading. Unfortunately it's not really my flavour. It's a contemporary romance. Very sexy book but not quite enough story for me.
Affinity is a fun, yet emotional read. Jada and Nicklaus have an intense connection even with his baggage. This book is well written and Jada's pets Poe and Dali were a great addition to this story.
This is a nice story. I liked the characters you feel their emotional pain, while hoping they can work their issues. I was left wanting to know more about their journey.
