Putin: The Truth Beyond Media Headlines

Rate this book
The facts and knowledge in this book are powerful enough that it has been under attack. Some angry individuals have left numerous fake one-star reviews. Many are missing the words "Verified Purchase" and the reviewers make claims that have nothing to do with the book's actual contents. In all likelihood, they didn't read the book.

Unfortunately, there are still those in our great country who cannot accept an opinion that deconstructs the common, agenda-driven, media-controlled narrative about Russia. Some are too driven by Cold War stereotypes to tolerate rational intellectual discourse on Russia. Today it's time to put hurt feelings aside and talk facts and pragmatism that is vital to American national security and prosperity.

This book's growing popularity may even be frightening some people as they see their power slipping. The American public is hungering for a different perspective on Russia, globalism, and foreign affairs. More and more people are waking up to see a different reality than the lies that have been broadcast to them for years on CNN, the Washington Post, the New York Times, etc.

The elites are losing control of the narrative, their media has next to zero credibility, and now they are scared. The "Russia election hacking" claims (still backed by zero evidence as of January 2017) reflect the newest attempt to ruin a potential "detente" between the United States and Russia. Will the war party succeed in their efforts to demonize Putin's Russia so that Trump's hands are tied (all at the expense of American national security)? They certainly get an A for effort.

With the Donald Trump election, the game has changed and time will tell what his presidency will bring about. However, for the bulk of 2016, the United States and Russia had been drifting towards nuclear war. In fact, many experts contend that 2016 brought our countries closer to war than we had been at any point in history (including the Cuban Missile Crisis).

According to Vladimir Putin- as well as numerous international experts- a global nuclear showdown is becoming increasingly likely. A lack of cooperation between US and Russia in safeguarding nuclear materials is also increasing the risk of terrorists like ISIS conducting a dirty bomb attack in Europe.

Is it all because of Putin and "Russian Aggression?"

You’re about to discover the reality about Russia that goes against popular opinion. You will learn the truth about Vladimir Putin, President Obama, Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, defense contractors, NATO, Ballistic Missile Defense, the Ukraine crisis, and much more. This book will do something our government-media complex rarely does- analyze and describe Russia’s side of the story. So it will provide you with an alternate perspective than you are used to. Thus, some of the content will be controversial.

Too much is at stake for you and your family to continue being told exactly what to think by the people in power as a war with Russia becomes more and more likely. It’s time to act like your family’s future depends on understanding the truth. Because it does.

The author takes great care in sourcing his facts. This is a very responsible approach. The author's overall opinion is pro-Russia, pro-Trump, with a pall of disappointment toward the Bush and Obama administration's refusal to work with Putin. However, he does not approach the topic as a partisan pundit would- with insults, excoriations and rhetoric. Instead, he presents his case in a calm, measured and largely dispassionate manner with sources cited for all the facts he uses to make his case. Even if one does not agree with the author's conclusions, there is no inclination to react defensively to a perceived indoctrination attempt. He does a great job presenting the information in a clear and concise fashion. I applaud the author for this. It is probably one of the least provocative pieces I have read on the subject.

My only criticism would be that, while Atkins gives himself a lot of room to scrutinize the motives behind Bush's and Obama's actions (a factor that clearly contributes to the formation of his conclusion), he does not subject Putin's or Trump's motives to the same degree of scrutiny. He takes the actions, reactions, and statements of Trump and Putin at face value (apart from the obligatory yet casual "Can we trust Putin?" remark.) The actions of Bush and Obama, on the other hand, he spends considerable time chewing over, speculating on alternative motives to the ones presented by each administration. This ultimately led me to see this book as more opinion-driven than exploratory in nature.

Still, one learns a lot about the significant events involving Russia, Putin, Bush, Obama, NATO, and Trump over the past two decades. It is definitely worth the read if only to enrich one's understanding of the principals involved. The book also offers meticulously curated references to relevant news topics. If there is intentional bias in the author's presentation, it is not at the forefront and can safely be ignored if the reader's opinion should come to differ from the author's.

I agree with just about all of what is said in this book on Putin and Russia. The author has a lot of information even though the book is very short. I do hope Trump is successful in having better relations with Russia, it is about the only thing I agree with him on. If he means what he says, who knows with Trump. He will have an uphill battle against McCain, Graham and Democrats and Republicans as well as the military industrial complex. I feel it is vital for the US to have better relations with Russia for our own security let alone the rest of the world. I gave the book 4 stars instead of 5 only because of the last chapter which was about the election and the media, I felt the chapter was very opinionated and not based on fact. Other than that I highly recommend reading this book with an open mind. There are very few voices out there in the US with this opinion on Russia. The media is not allowing this opinion or even debate to be heard. Another voice is Stephen Cohen, you can find occasional interviews with him on You tube. Also Cohen is coming out with a new book on this subject soon.

This is Russian propaganda. I am sorry that some feel that there are facts that are well sourced. It is particularly disturbing that both the authors and reviewers seem to feel we would be safer to engage with what the rest of the world and most of America recognizes as a state run Kleptocracy masquerading as a government. Yes, it would be nice to live in a world with reduced tensions and our government is far from perfect but comparing the two would be a flawed moral equivalence. Our government is based on a constitution designed as a liberal democracy (look it up before you freak out over "liberal"). We are flawed but work hard to maintain those constitutional freedoms and the framework provided. Russia is no such animal. There are no freedoms in Russia. The state owns everything and has a say in all and Putin runs the state. On the day I write this another enemy of Putin, someone who was in the "legislature" and fled for his life was assassinated in the street in Ukraine. A previous member who voted against Putin was murdered this year and another who was due to testify against his oligarch friends was thrown from a window. Many "dissidents" have been put in prison only to never return. He has had journalists murdered and the press turned over to state control. There is just so much information and evidence here including from people who lived it I can't understand people who are so far removed making such certain value judgements against the facts. This is not a government that you just trust and cozy up to. You can spout "Fake News" and ignore the overwhelming opinion, testimony and witnesses or you can ask yourself where the disinformation exists. Do some real diligence and check sources and original stories. Does it make sense that institutions of independent journalists with a tradition of integrity and transparency (not perfection) and a mandate of the press given by our constitution are all wrong in their reporting? Are all these institutions independently wrong or corrupt? Or should we have believed comrade Putin that there were no troops in Crimea when we watched tanks, planes and Russian soldiers on TV and heard from residents? Perhaps we should just blindly trust the very few, suspect and admittedly biased sources in the US that put out pro Russian stories such as RT (which is Russian funded state media), or Brietbart and Inforwars, Twitterbots, Facebook news links? It is your responsibility as an American to do your due diligence. Don't cozy up to a dictator and put down your own government because of an escalating effort from Russia to spread dissension, nationalistic fervor and disinformation. It is not always easy but follow the "sources" and look for other stories and facts on the subjects presented. I made my opinion clear but I only ask that yours is based on critical thinking and effort.

Everybody should read this

This book discusses the potential benefits of a complete rethink in US policies towards Russia and the benefits are many. It is a little out of date (before the Trump presidency) and if there is one, perhaps surprising, conclusion to be drawn from it, it is that it is a really good job that Hillary lost the election. Read for yourself. You will be amazed.

Great Alternative Look to a Global Problem

Everything this author says makes amazing sense. Facts are stated but opinions are left for the reader. It encompasses several items I was not aware of. A quick and enlightening read.

Working together for the good of all

This book enlightens its readers to necessary information which allows us to understand the importance of developing a peaceful relationship with Russia. It helps us see how greed infiltrates this process. Thank you Jordan Atkins for writing this book and hopefully reaching enough people with some truths which could save us all and our children. This is a must read. I'm going to read it again and plan on discussing it with every one possible. We can only pray that enough people have the awareness necessary to keep us all afloat in the rough seas coming at us.

The book states the U.S. citizens have a distorted view of Russia because they are presented with propaganda. It makes a compelling case and I will have to do more research before rating it higher than 3 stars.

Highly honest and informative book, backed by credible references.

My fellow Americans would do themselves a favor to read this short tome and follow up by checking the authors references. They would come away with credible information and be a more informed voting populace. Thumbs up!
