Stag and the crew of the Varnish are on a mission, responding to a distress signal of a freighter that has been attacked by the Markus Models. Instead of finding the enemy, they discover one sole survivor. Nala’s a human, and having suffered at their hands during his time on Earth, there’s no species Stag despises more. But when the petite woman confuses him for an android and tries to order him around, Stag decides she’ll live—and pay for her slights.

Nala Vestria has lost her freighter, her crew and her father, only to become personal maid to a cyborg. Stag is surly, short-tempered, and completely untrusting of humans … not to mention intense, commanding, and maybe the hottest being Nala has ever seen. When she finds him temporarily at her mercy, Nala isn’t sure if she wants to kill him or kiss him. Then again, life is short. She opts for the latter.

Nala swiftly becomes a distraction Stag can’t afford, especially after he’s had a carnal taste of what the woman has to offer. He’ll take her back to Garden, his home planet, and be rid of her — as well as the emotions she evokes. But as their journey home becomes harrowing, Nala may prove to be more of an asset than a liability. To both the ship … and the lonely cyborg who commands her.

I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books, always have been.

No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.

I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.

This was a decent addition to the series, but I didn't love it.

description

There were a lot of scenes which focused on Stag captaining the ship and the ins and outs of intergalactic space battles.

Like a LOT of scenes.

description

Which would have been fine.

If there was an equal or greater amount of romance....

But there wasn't.

description

And I was sad.

What was there was seemed a little...rushed, especially at the end.

Stag's "Oh my God, I have feelings for the "Earther" moment felt a little contrived and out of the blue.

Like I said above, it was a decent addition to the series, I just felt like it focused a bit too much on the intricacies of space battle and a bit too little on the story line and romance.

description

But oh well. Moving on...

Stag (the jerk) & Nala

Okay, hands down, without a doubt, Stag is the least likable Cyborg so far.
I could not even put him in the tortured/scarred hero category. He could not make himself a bit redeemed by his actions. He is making one mistake after the other with his human, he is too easily forgiven and he does not really grovel besides a few paragraphs in the end.

Nala on the other hand is plain and boring. There is this forced seduction scene which is a bit interesting, but for the majority of the book she just stays in the background waiting for Stag to bring her lunch.

Nala’s ship was attacked by the Marcus Models and she was the only one who survived. Consequently she ends up a prisoner in Stag’s ship and more accurately in Stag’s cabin after she gets recued by Stag and his crew.

I think I mostly missed the humor in this book, the funny moments. Dohner’s characters are usually excellent in producing giggles and laughs out of some impossible difficult situations and they don’t let their self pity take them down. For the majority of this book, I was just angry with the main characters and their actions. I wanted to slap both of them.

I am still giving a good rating, because the action scenes are excellent.
I love a good sci-fi adventure and Stag may be a jerk but he is also a good pilot and an excellent leader. He just has to work a bit on his attitude towards the other gender.

So before starting this one i was really excited, because when we met Stag in the previous book i wanted his story immediately and was looking forward for this grumpy hero, who will find his heroine between Earthers and fall head over heels in love with her. Well... Didnt exactly happened.

The main plot is not even romance between main characters, at least it didnt feel that way. It was mostly foccused on Stag and his problems with Pirates/Markus Models or whatever they were running from. I was skimming and Im not feeling like i really missed something.

I was also expecting more from Stag. He was pushing away the whole book, he changed his mind just two chapters before ending which was just too much. He didnt even tell heroine that he loves her, just some "you have my heart blabla". I really wanted for him to admit his feelings because heroine is telling him that she cares about him the whole book.

Seducing Stag is book ten in the Cyborg Seduction series by Laurann Dohner.

Most of the books I’ve read in this series can be read as stand-alone, but I don't recommend starting here or reading this one as a stand-alone.

I enjoyed the story on certain levels. We are treated to surprises, action, and some sweet moments. I will say I really enjoyed the crew. They where a lot of fun and add some laughs.

As for the romance it came close to forced seduction. Stag and Nala kept to their ideals far to long to really give them a full romance. Theirs very little time with them in a relationship. It’s a lot of pushing and I don’t like humans attitude. The story ended up feeling rushed in many areas and even the ending was rushed to me.

Seducing Stag was an ok read. I’ve been enjoying the Cyborg Seduction series and learning about these Cyborg’s, but this one is my least favorite in the series.

Actual Rating 2.5 stars.

It's ok , I liked it.

However, I am very disappointed with this writer. I used to love her books, I couldn't wait for the next one to come out. I loved all her series. Now the situation has changed, in the last couple of years her books have lost so much. It really is a shame. I don't feel the excitement I felt before when I first started one of her books, lately I am founding all her new releases disappointing.

This really surprised me, I did not expect to love this book as I did. Stag was super grumpy in the other books, and he still was in the book but we got to see other sides of him and I was really pleased. But it was really Nala who stole the show, she was great. The perfect balance for Stag. Can't wait for more from this series!

3 1/2 stars. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I love this series and I couldn't wait for Stag's book because I love a jerk who turns into a great hero. I am so torn I honestly don't know how to rate this book or review it. So lets start with what I liked. I loved the writing, but I always love Laurann Dohner's writing. She always sucks me into her stories and thats just what happened with this book. I loved the heroine she was smart and a way better person than I would have been in her situation but I think I maybe I'm too stubborn some times too :} I really loved the crew on this ship, and this book made me really want their stories. I liked the story in this book it was action packed and it was really interesting, and I never wanted to put this book down.

Now lets go to the not so fun part and thats what I didn't like or wished was different or just didn't work for me. As I said I loved the story but there's another side to that coin and thats the fact that this book felt more like an UF than a romance. While I loved the story I really wish more time had been spent on the Heroine Nala, and the hero Stag. In a perfect world this book would have been longer keeping all the great elements and adding more time with Stag and Nala to boost up the romance. I didn't like how long it took Stag to make a decision when everything after that was so little. I would have been ok with him taking awhile to come around if we had more after so we could have really scene their romance bloom and grow.

I also really missed Garden, I kept waiting for them to land so she could see the planet and we could see her adjusting and it almost felt like that was all missing. Also I'm going to be nit picky here and I already said I liked Nala which I did and still do but her idea of revenge I didn't like. I get it for the story but I wished it had went down differently. I don't want to sound all negative because I liked this book and like I said I didn't want to put it down and had I not been gone all day I would have read this in one sitting. I just think some things were missing from this book and I needed more time to see Stag as not a jerk, really the end felt way too rushed. We get a great glimpse of Stag being possessive at the end but I wished we had more of that.

I can't wait to see who gets a book next in the cyborg series because I love this series and I don't at all regret reading this book. I can also say that with each book I read the list of heroes I have in my own mind that I want grows longer and longer. So even after all that I still don't know what to rate this book it kept me riveted and I loved the flow and writing and I liked many aspects of this book but I wish there was more so I could have felt like this book was completely completed(if that makes sence).

Did the pendulum swing too far?

I had wildly ranging opinions about this book, depending on where I was reading at that point. It is rare I feel that way about a novel. Here are some reasons why I felt like I was sitting on a pendulum:
1) It was overwhelmingly crude (yeah, Stag did that right next to her), then it ended with one of the sweetest, most romantic lines you'll see in any book anywhere.
2) Nala was one of the bravest, most selfless ship captains I've read about, trying to save total strangers. Then she sexually assaulted Stag. "No" means "no" no matter who is saying it. The circumstances made me cringe and I was this close to a DNF at that point.
3) I was at turns disappointed in and cheering Nala.
4) A lot of people didn't like grumpy Stag, but I found him to be one of the more believable cyborg characters, more robot-like in his outlook. I especially thought it funny that he kept telling the cheerful cyborg, Hellion, to turn off his emotion chip. Made me chuckle.
5) The action-adventure quotient was way up on this book compared to the last one, Loving Deviant, which is always a profit in my accounting column.

Since I was on such a pendulum, I guess this book gets three stars. Some things were great, and some things really were not.

3+ "Space Adventure" Stars!

It was ok. Stag was a jerk, but I didn't care all that much for Nala either. The sex was hot, but the romance seemed to be missing. This one was more syfi adventure rather than swooney romance. Lately LD has been a little bit hit or miss for me, this was more miss than hit, but it was still entertaining; and I'm a big LD fan. Looking forward to the next one. Happy reading!

On another note, all Laurann Dohner's New Species series (one of my absolute favs) have new covers. I personally like the older covers better, but the new one are not bad.

If you started the series here, I am not sure you would keep going.

There needs to be much more complexity for most aspects of the book.

I read the whole thing and enjoyed it on a certain level with the surprise action, the crew, the heroine's backstory and skills, and the moments of sweetness.

Other parts were not good. The heroine comes really close to forced seduction of the hero. They both hold on to stereotypical ideas for too long to give a full romance and the end is just rushed. We get very little time with them in a relationship which I like especially in a Science Fiction Romance where there is culture shock.

Kobo book
I should of skipped reading. Book had more substance than Loving Deviant but had a lot less romance. The book is almost over before the H admits he cares for the h & wants to keep her.

There's not a lot of emotional depth to the characters. The story wasn't fleshed out enough.

Outside of being the H I would of liked Stag. He is loyal to his crew & cares about them. I'm not discounting he's reasons for not liking earthers but his behavior didn't work for me. I liked the h. She wasn't a doormat.

I probably would of liked the book if it was 100 pages longer since I would of gotten to read about the H/h loving each other & their happiness.

I just didn't like this as much as the other books in this series. The whole thing takes place on a spaceship and although there is action, there's a lot of boring arguments and downtime. I didn't really like the H, Stag as much as the previous guys in the series. Nala was ok, but I thought her tragedy was too easily forgotten.

I really like the stories that incorporate the planet, Garden, and this was totally left out in this book.

A fair amount of typos, too, so minus 1 star for those.

I kind of feel like I wasted my money on this one...

Oh this was a pretty good book.
We met Stag in the previous book- he's the head of his crew and hates earthers. When Markus Model invades a ship they're passing, he finds everyone dead bar Nala, the captain of that ship.
What follows is him capturing her and her melting his heart..
He is pretty stubborn and shut off, but he does come around.
The book ends abruptly and no epilogue..i did want to read more but they got their HEA..(?)
Safe read

This was a less than ok edition to the series. Nothing horrible except it totally lacked in romance and was boring! I did not like either MC. They basically fucked each other for the heck of it. No friednship, no relationship. No unbelievable sexual tension. Or desire. When he decided to keep her...color me shocked. Why? Neither seemed to give a shit.

Stag the belligerent earth hater and Nala the hot blond who can roll with the punches.
I was not sure from time to time if I was going to like this one or not. Stag is just so unremittingly distrustful of humans that it's like 'cut your nose off to spite your face'.
The story starts out in the midst of action, and I gotta say, the author's ability to write action was always pretty good, but now it is spectacular! And I don't particularly like action. LD has also been putting a lot of thought into her world building in the last couple books.
Stag rescues Nala but only after she calls him a sex bot. Now he's pissed and he's gonna teach her a lesson. But don't worry, imho, LD doesn't push things too far or for too long.
The story is about Stag learning to see Nala as a person and not an 'Earther' and to admit his attraction to her. All this amidst great action and intrigue of ALL kinds. Then there's the quirky cast of side characters that populate Stag's rag tag crew of misfits.
The ending reminded me Too funny ; )
Absolutely loved this one and I'm getting it on audio too as soon as it comes out!

I enjoyed this book, just like I've enjoyed every other book I've ready by Laurann Dohner. Her writing style feels unique and the stories are easy to fall into. Once I started reading it, I had to finish it.

In this story, we have Stag, who doesn't like humans. I worried the book would be similar to Zorus's book since he also was a character who didn't like humans, but the stories were nothing alike, which was great.

I liked both Stag and Nala, but I think Maze and Hellion were my absolute favorites! I really hope Hellion gets his own book because he's so different from all the other characters Laurann has created.

The story jumped around a little bit too much, though. First the Marcus Models, then something else, and again something else instead of following a red thread throughout the whole book. This didn't bother me much. Overall, I found this book entertaining, funny, and not too emotional. So if you're looking for something to relax to, then I highly recommend this book.

3.5 Seducing Stag Stars

I really enjoyed this series, but I think I wanted more from this book. Its good don’t get me wrong but being this far into the series I guess I was hoping for more actions maybe.

Nala was perfect for Stag he needed someone who could stand up to him. Which I liked a lot, and Stag wasn’t easy to like but he grows on you. I very much liked this about both of them.

Loved the narration as always. <3

Ah, no, me corrijo a mí misma, Maze estuvo genial.

Meh...
Stag was a bit of a jerk.
A few of the events in this book just didn't sit right with me and I found it hard to really like Stag or Nala.
But that said, I read the whole thing in a few hours and wasn't bored - and I'm already hoping for Yammer's story.

Nala has lost everything, her ship, her crew, her father. And now she is tied to her bed waiting to lose her life as well. Until the cyborgs came and rescued her. Of course “rescue” may be the wrong word, capture may be more accurate. She’s stuck with Stag, he’s surly, uncommunicative and completely distrustful of everything she says and does. He’s also the sexiest man she’s ever seen, and beneath his hard and gruff exterior she senses their might be more.

Laurann Dohner is treating us at the moment we have had two new books in the Cyborg Seduction series this year and these fabulous new covers. I love the concept of this series, of cyborgs having escaped their cruel Earth Government masters and are now surviving on their own on a new planet. At the moment their nemesis is another type of synthetic human, the ruthless Markus models, androids that function as a hive mind and are using the destruction of the cyborgs to further their own agenda.

Which, is how Nala and Stag meet, Stag saves Nala…but only because she manages to piss him off enough that he wants to keep her as his own live-in maid. To teach her a lesson about how to treat a cyborg. I loved the contentious relationship between Nala and Stag, the fighting between them just serves to build the sexual tension between them and allow them to break down each others walls. This leads to some great sex scenes between them.

This book was vastly different to the Loving Deviant which was a sweet romance, the relationship between Stag and Nala is much more fiery and I really enjoyed the slight change of pace from the previous book. As always, this was a fun and sexy read and I can’t wait for Dohner to write more in this series, fingers crossed for another two books coming out next year!

3 got a bit boring stars..

Though I LOVE those guys, this truely wasn't up to par.

description

Had high hopes for Stag 'cause I kinda fell for his arrogant a$$ during the last book.. this didn't contain half the 'kind of action' that was expected..

I mean, Stag is an intense guy! He should get more action than that!

Also, more than half the time, those two were away from each other, even though they didn't leave the ship!

Unfortunately, especially in the beginning, it waskinda boring and that killed, because it got me to drift off towards the end! Seriously!

I usually devour Ms. Dohner's work, and this wasn't one of those cases.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys second-hand cringe in the first chapter

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

Full disclosure, I jumped out of this book VERY quickly so I really can't comment on the story. I read this as an audio book, it was roughly 5.5 hours long and I jumped ship at 23 minutes, just to give you an idea of how long I lasted.

My reason is simple: the cringe factor. The "wtf" factor.

The book opens with Stag and his team boarding a ship that has been attacked, humans have been tortured and bodies are everywhere. They find our heroine tied to a bed (naked of course). Several things bugged me here. First, the writer was very vague on HOW she was tied up and seeing as she spent quite a while tied up and chatting away, it was hard to picture. She was tied to the headboard, but also hanging and in pain...idk.
Next, the bed had a bomb attached to it so they couldn't cut her down...I didn't really get why they couldn't get her down or why the bad guys had attached a bomb in the first place especially as they were planning on coming back to the ship. It made no sense.
Finally, Stag (who comes across as a total jerk) sends his men off to strip the ship or whatever while he stands there having a conversation with this unnamed naked woman strapped to a bed bomb. The conversation they have is ridiculous. I don't know how else to describe it. This woman's entire crew has been slaughtered, including her own father who's dead body is lying mere feet away. She is butt naked in front of strangers and about to die, yet all he can think about is her "pert nipples" and all she can do is call him "gorgeous" and say that if he was a sex-bot she would have totally rented him for the night. This is where the wtf factor came in. Her Dad's dead body was literally right there!!! It was so laughably stupid that I had to bow out.

Sorry Laurann, this one just wasn't for me.

This book really cracked me up during the scene where Stag saves Nala.....she thinks he is a sex bot, the entire scene was so damn funny. Of course Stag is offended, because he is an ornery pain in the butt. Either way, he ends up being her "sex bot" and she his......so win, win. These two had a shit ton of chemistry, loved it. His crew I found quite entertaining, especially Hellion, whom I adored. Love this series.

3.50 / 3 Stars

This story revolved more around The Markus Models, Pirates, EG (Earth Government) and Stag's mistrust of Nala. Most of his paranoia regarding Nala was a big over the top. The romance was pretty tame and not really center, but I was okay with that. Sometimes the sex scenes become so repetitious (sounding like all the other Cybor stories) that it was actually refreshing. I know...I'm in the minority here! LOL!!

These books are getting shorter and less interesting every time :/
Maybe it's time to end this series? Or stop "backing" these books so fast?
Just a friendly observation.

Peace,
A.

Much better than the previous book, but very short. I actually don't understand when the main characters had time to fall in love. The book had a lot of action and Stag's crew members were interesting. I hope next book is Hellion's story.

Definitely enjoyed this one more than the last in the series - more depth in story & characters - I sincerely wanted them both to find their happy ending!
