“I need her in a way that won’t take no for an answer.”

JUDE

When Catalina walks in the door, my heart stops.
She’s my best friend’s little sister, Etta’s babysitter,
and hot as hell.
The timing is all wrong.
She’s too young, lost, and doesn’t know what she wants.
I have a baby and don’t need another person to take care of.
But then I take her against the wall and she finds her way into my motherf*cking heart.
The truth is, I’m the lost cause, and Catalina might be the one person who can save me.

CATALINA

I came to LA needing to escape an a-hole who was using me.
Six months later I end up at Jude’s house.
I’m a hot mess … but Jude? He’s hotter.
And walking into his home, seeing that Etta’s mother skipped town,
I realize I’m not the only mess around.
It starts as a one-afternoon stand— two people craving connection.
But quickly becomes more.
Trouble is, my past is catching up with me.
We might not have forever — but we have today.

3rd bust in a row. I couldnt exactly tell what this book was about since the author did that annoying look at characters inner thoughts thing rather than a real blurb telling me the basic plot outline of the story. It sounded like h fleeing an abusive ex though which is quite possibly my favorite trope, and the dude on the cover was hot and tattooed so I decided to give it a shot. Almost immediately I realized this wasnt going to go well. The book has shifting 1st person POVs, which can occasionally work but it more often fails than flies. The author nicely tells us at the beginning of every chapter whose POV to expect. She puts little hearts around their names....this was a sign to me that this book was gonna be a bit too juvenile for my tastes but I already quit one tonight so I really wanted to give this a shot. My fears began to be confirmed when the h though "he's a total douche, but he's not that big of an asshole" wait what...that makes no sense. Then she feels the need to tell us this isn't the opening chapter with a girl with stepbrother fantasies...because you know thats the first thing that popped into my brain when she says shes living in her brother's guest house (because that was the first mention of him being her step not real brother). Then her brother volunteers her for babysitting duty. She's been moping over leaving her ex...HIS NAME IS YURI WHAT EWWW who hooks up with someone named yuri. And apparently he was a crime lord (shocker) didnt seem that abusive so far but was controlling. So she left and had been moping so long her brother felt the need for intervention. And hey she was ok with this because Jude is just soooooo dreamy *gags*. Jude leave his child with her but is relieved to return and see that the house hasnt burned down because she's a flake but hey at least she's "a hot flake" so its ok that he left her to babysit without actually making sure she knew how to take care of a child. Then they idk share a look and are ready to hump like bunnies. We then learn why sex scenes are better off in third person.
"I didn't put on a bra this morning because...it's stupid to wear a bra when my breasts don't sag"
She apparently knew his cock was 10 in just by looking at it. 2 things: I've literally never met a woman in real life that desired a penis so big being inserted in to her because that shitll hit your cervix and that fucking hurts. Second, is this like a magic superpower she had? the ability to measure a penis using nothing more than her eyes? lolol
"Don't be a dick tease" he tells her...despite the fact that she's already mostly naked. I loathe that term its always a pejorative and i'm not gonna be into any dude that says that to a woman.
He calls her "girl" doing sexy times...not the end all be all but super creepy to me
"Part of me always wondered if my pussy is broken because i like to be touched so much-and when i am my pussy drips in pleasure. More than drips. My pussy gets sopping wet when turned on. I gush, and if i get finger fucked nice and hard, i start squirting." At this point i was laughing so hard i dropped my nook and knew it was time to quit. I even tried to look up the author to see their gender because this sounds a lot more like a male authors writing than a female's.

Bottom line: this was a dnf because every part of it was ridiculous esp the sex scenes. hopefully tomorrows book goes better

Saint Jude (Los Angeles Bad Boys #3) is by author Frankie Love.
Published: September 19, 2016
Read: February 1, 2017
Kindle edition: 158 pages
My Rating: 5
Cover: 5
POV: Told in first-person dual perspectives
Standalone
Series: Los Angeles Bad Boys: #1 Cold Hard Cash, #2 Hollywood Holden #3 Saint Jude
Genres: Romance Adult, Erotica, Light Suspense.

Where to start.......
Ok, so there were a lot of mixed reviews on this book. Not all good. All I can say is I'm glad I went with my gut and read it. I really loved it! Of course I have always been a fan of sexy bad boys with babies. In addition, I have been anticipating Jude's book since he was introduced in Cold Hard Cash. There was something very magnetic in his persona that appealed to me. I couldn't help but love him.

Jude and Catalina.......

Jude has a dark and devastating past. His past has shaped him into the man he is today. Jude can't help but to 'take care' of people. He never wants to let anyone down. Never again. But who takes care of him?

No one, really...But now Jude is taking on his most important task. A baby. By himself, Jude has to take care of his infant daughter. His ex-girlfriend just took off.

Catalina is Holden's younger sister. (We meet Holden in Hollywood Holden.) Catalina has her own demons to deal with. She is staying with her brother instead of dealing with her problems. I have to admit for the first part of the book, I didn't like Catalina very much. I understood that she was dealing with something dark but I just found her very immature and lazy. I mean that literally. Luckily through character development, Catalina matured and was finally able to find her place in life.

With Jude.

I liked Jude and Catalina as a couple. There were several bumps on their journey; his ex, her problem and that fact that Holden was being a brat.

But thankfully though, Catalina earned respect. From her family and from herself.

The end of this book was angsty and yes, I panicked a bit. I won't give away details but I will say I was thrilled with how everything turned out.

Of all three Los Angeles Bad Boys books, Jude's was my favorite.

disclaimer: excuse my language please

okay so... This book got everything I love:
Horse d*ck
Insta lust/love
Plus babies (that you don't know if are yours or not!) *throws confetti at your face)... Not really I hate that, which made me hate this book because you know what else I hate? The constant rambling and this book is full of it. It's also full of the pity parties and "woe is me! Woe is me" from both the H and h AND the worst part of are the side characters!! *inserts Jesus take the wheel gif* I wanted to slap everyone in this book! Evie is a b*tch, cat's brother is an arsehole like full on arsehole and his gf is a brainless b(itch) Barbie! And I'm not gonna talk about the supposedly "bad guy" because... *facepalming* just no.

And... Do I hate an female mc in any other book I've ever read as much as I dislike Catalina... no, I don't think so! The author tried to make her appear as cute, sexy and a little lost but sassy when she's plain and annoying af! (See above "woe is me" part) and like, Dude, I don't care how cool you think you are just... Do not swear in front of babies! Their little brains remember everything they hear, you know (my baby cousin's first word was "fuck" because he heard his brothers saying it! They're little sponges they remember that shit!) And even if they didn't, DO NOT FUCKING SWEAR IN FRONT OF CHILDREN!  What pissed me off the most was that "saint jude" didn't say anything like wtf? #parenting101
And don't get me started with Jude... omg, he might have a 10 inches dick but but he's so darn boring... bad boy? Where? He didn't even defend Cat when Evie basically humiliated her on in the street like... wtf?

Their "sexy times" made me laugh my arse off. (Also seriously Cat needs to go to the gynecologist asap because I don't think that dripping "juicer" you have down there is normal GIRL lol)

overall... This book was such a disappointment. Smh.

This was a struggle to finish reading.....the characters totally sucked. Jude, the tatted up bad boy, yeah right made me want to cringe....Evie was a bitch, Holden was an asshat, and don’t even get me started on Cat. This book just didn’t work for me.

When Catalina sees Jude and her reaction ... you know your baseline is a pretty hefty suspension of disbelief. [And then the archaic view of how a person can/would get custody - of course the birth parent is important but it isn't and hasn't been the end all be all for a long time.]

ANYWAY. Cute story overall, I like how sometimes the heroine just had no fucks to give - which made her more mature and stable - but other times things just didn't make sense.

It was nice though that Jude had the backstory as to why he was so drawn to "lost causes" and was a white knight.

2.5 points. Max.

I am torn.

Seriously, this book just wasn't it for me.

Why?
Well, I can't really say, probably mainly because of the characters:

I liked the main characters, really did.
Jude's a great dad, doesn't care about blood and all that, he just loves his daughter.
Cat? Well, I had my difficulties liking her. She did nothing for six months. Literally nothing but Netflix and chill. And I mean, yeah, she had a reason for that but come on, that reason wasn't that good! Plus, she never figures her life out! In the end, the only thing she does with her life is being girlfriend and a mom. Wow. Way to go, girl! And yeah, I know how that sounds like but come on, she really has no idea what to do! No inspiration, no idea, no clue and that just annoys me.
I think it's perfectly fine if you want to stay at home with your kid but do you really want to only do that for the rest of your life?

Anyways, the main characters weren't my main problem: the minor characters were.

Cause they are just poison. And I mean, all of them.
Jude and Cat might call them family or friends. But they are direct. No, you're right that wouldn't be a problem but the thing is they are cruel and insulting. They hurt others with their words and that's just not awesome when they say they're your friends and want what's best for you.

And then there's Cat's mom. I don't have any words for that woman. In the book it's like: oh, she is so nice and super awesome. Ahm, no, she's not. She guilt trips her daughter after she is nearly being . How dare she do that? How dare she blame her daughter?

I really had NO POSITIVE FEELINGS AT ALL towards all the side characters and that's just disappointing.
In this book, it was like: No matter what people do, they still love you so it's okay if they do it.
Ahm: NO! NO IT'S NOT!
If my friends talked to me the way the so-called 'friends' in this novel did, I'd walk away from them.
Abuse isn't just physical - it can be verbal as well and that's what's happening in here.

What I also thought about was: Am I mad at the characters or the writing style? Because the characters appeared to be so cruel because the dialogues were just not from this world. Seriously, who talks to their friends like that? Insulting them like that? Blaming them?

So, yeah, the writing style did the rest... I wouldn't say it was a boring read but it was just short and seemed a bit rushed. Plus, not everything was resolved and I don't like that...

2.5 stars.

This was a quick and sweet read. But there are some issues, that I just can't overlook and that bother me really.

I liked Jude. He was sweet and 100% there for his little daughter. He tried to save his baby mamma, but she wouldn't have it. And you can't help someone, who doesn't want to be helped. He was sweet with Cat and didn't treat her like a ONS.

Cat, well, this girl has problems. I know that what happened to her was really cruel and sick. And I can understand that she needed a new beginning and just left her old life. But, we don't know anything about her old life, like her friends and her job and how she made her decision to just run away home to her brother. We don't know any details about her abusive relationship. And somehow I didn't really feel sad for Cat because I couldn't take it serious. Nobody in this book took her abuse seriously, it was just a passing thought. No one offered her safety, peace, a shoulder to cry on, or lend an ear. Nothing was done! What a crap family!

I had issues with Rachel, the mother of the baby. I don't like when woman are portrayed as selfish, crazy, immature, drug addicted and so on.

The heroines mother was just over the top. I hated her. She receives the news, that a man has abused her daughter for more than a year, and that said man assaulted her that night in her own home. What does said mother do? Not one fucking thing! I got so worked up. It was so sad. But the saddest part was, that everyone thought it normal. No one questioned her response.

I hated all the side characters. They were mean, bullies, self-centered, "omg-I'm-so-beautiful-and-rich-and-famous". No one of the so called friends and families were helpful, protective or just "there" for either Cat or Jude.

Then here was my issue with the dialogue. No one in real life speaks like that to their friends and families. It was just so wrong. That's not conversation. I don't really know how to describe it.

The villain in the story was just laughable. Seriously? And then Poof, the whole "I'm so afraid, he's texting and stalking me and I don't know what to do" is resolved with one single phone call from her brother? Unbelievable - and not in a good way.

The epilogue was well, I don't know. I hated the idea of a tripple-wedding. Because they weren't "friends" at all. So phony.

Well enough about my ranting. I loved Cat and Jude and how they were with little Ettie.

SWEET READ!

Title: Saint Jude
Series: Los Angeles Bad Boys
Author: Frankie Love
Designation: Standalone Novella, No Cliffhanger
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Four Sinfully Sweet Stars****
Great Read! This is my first time reading Frankie Love's work but it certainly won't be my last. Saint Jude is a cute, well-crafted, fast-paced, easy to follow contemporary bad boy romance with a clearly defined his and her first person narrative. There were a few minor boo-boos but nothing that distracted me from the story. The dialogue is smart, well executed, at times seductive and witty with loads of little innuendos and flows effortlessly. The characters aren't complex but they are realistic and completely engaging. Did I like this story? Yes, very much! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Was I entertained? Totally! It was a very satisfying feel-good read! No spoilers from me but if you're looking for a quick, sweet read filled to the brim with a little danger, some heartbreaking angst, a whole lot of heated attraction, fiery passion, dreamy romance, and steamy sex, along with two young adults finding forever love with someone when they expect it least, but need it most, then Saint Jude is definitely the book for you.

Twenty-eight-year-old Los Angeles indie film producer Jude finds himself in quite the pickle. His drug addicted model girlfriend has just with another man. Now that in itself might not be so bad but she left him with their six-month-old daughter, Etta. Oh my! What's a guy to do? The best he can, of course....because he loves his little girl, which incidentally, may not actually be his little girl. Oh no! He certainly doesn't want his business spread around town but he needs a babysitter fast so when his best friend Holden volunteers the services of his wayward twenty-two-year-old college dropout sister, Catalina, he knows he has no choice. But Holden's sister Cat is so much more than she seems with problems of her own, but she definitely seems to be good for him and his daughter, and not to mention she's absolutely beautiful and very easy on the eyes. It wouldn't be too terribly wrong to have a quick hook up with his best friend's younger sister, would it? After all, it's not like they would fall in love with each other or anything, It would just be a one-time thing, right? We'll see!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Frankie strikes again! I think I was most intrigued with Jude's story while reading all of the LA bad boys books. How can you not love a guy that wants to help everyone. He and Catalina were two broken people desperate to be put back together. Loved it!

As with the other books in this series a pretty good story. Jude is a fixer. When he sees someone broken or on the road to self destruction he has to step in. This is all due to something from his past that he feels responsible for. He wasn't there for someone when he should have been. He is also rich and produces great movies. Cash Flow, Hollywood Holden and he are like three Amigos. After his girlfriend Rachel leaves him with a 6 month old daughter he needs help. Holden's sister Caitlyn is running from boyfriend trouble in New York and is staying in her brother's guest house. Holden volunteers her to help Jude. She has always thought Jude was good looking and would like to get to know him better but because of his now ex-girlfriend has never tried to get closer to him. They are thrown together and chemistry takes over. The love he has for his little girl makes him a very special guy. I like these two together. Very enjoyable.

This series has probably been my favorite by this author. Jude has appeared in the previous two books so I was excited to finally get to know him and hear his story.

Jude has never forgiven himself for his little brother’s death and as a result tries to fix everyone in his life earning him the nickname Saint Jude, who is the patron saint of lost causes.

Catalina is Holden’s little sister and comes to LA running from a bad situation which happens to follow her. She has no direction in life and isn’t sure what she is looking for until she meets Jude.

This book actually pulled some tears out of me. I loved Jude and Catalina’s story. They are very relatable characters and that makes you root for them from the beginning of the story.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 kisses on both cheeks stars.

Saint Jude and his bff little sis

This was a quick read. I wouldn't quite classify Jude as a bad boy. His baby-momma walks out on him and their 6mo daughter. He's in a bind and needs a sitter. His bff Holden sends his little sis...after all, she's just been sitting around his guest house foe the last 6 months. Jude and Catalina share a connection and before you know it, they're friends w benies. But is everything all sunshine and rainbows? Each has an ex rather left in the past...will they stay there? There's a shocking reveal. Felt a bit rushed since the relationship took off in a couple of days, otherwise was a nice wrap to the series

You know, it just got better. I'm used to loving side characters, but these ones sure did piss me off! Seriously, you think since you found a person to love you just decide to go and judge other people's choices? Like be for freaking real!
And you know, being a parent is hard. And they are right to say it takes a village to do it. But having a judgmental village? No, thank you. Wow. I am just at the loss for words....

St. Jude by Frankie Love
I don't want to be mean and bash this book because I am sure that Frankie Love worked very hard on it, but it didn't really do much for me. I think any good book makes the reader either want to be the characters, be with the characters or be friends with the characters, but I don't feel any of that. I found no connection with 22 year old Catalina who has been living in her brothers guest house after running from her ex-boyfriend 6 months ago. She has little to no aspirations and is an admitted mess. Jude has many problems of his own, caring for his infant daughter after her mother has taken off. Of course these two broken people are drawn to each other and save each other. I did not feel that this was any great romance and had many moments I wanted to roll my eyes. I'm sad to say that I even had problems with the supporting characters. They were unjustly rude and I felt many of the scenes were forced and unbelievable. Sadly, equally unbelievable was the sex scenes. I'm all for hot and kinky sex scenes, but these were at times so over the top and completely out of context it made this an even more difficult read. I will not be looking for the rest of the bad boys series. I had difficulty finishing this one and rate it 3 hearts.
