Daddy, What Is Love?

Rate this book

As a father and child walk on the beach, the father is peppered with questions. Would you love me if I kicked sand in our lunch? If I swam out into the high waves? If I dropped my paddle in a big race? This gentle story reminds parents and children of the enduring power of unconditional love. Award-winning illustrator Don Robinson’s captivating artwork depicts the fascinating world of old Hawaii.

While I can see people from Hawaiian culture connecting with this book culturally, for people from the mainland or elsewhere it can only establish or reinforce stereotypes about Hawaiian people and their culture for children who do not live here (Hawaii).
