The Exception
So I'm giving this book 10 stars, screw just 5! It's way better than that!! I'm going backwards with Adriana's work reading her first series last but let me tell you, it was worth the wait!! I picked this up and couldn't put it down from the very beginning! I'm a sucker for the alpha male and let me just tell you, Cane Alexander, he is amazing! But what makes him amazing is this sweet and amazing girl named Jada. Life throws you curve balls sometimes and Jada definitely was for Cane, in the best way possible! Jada is beautiful, sweet, and I wish she was my best friend! With those qualities and so much more she carves herself a spot in Mr. Alexander's heart. There is love, there are tears, there is so much happiness, so much love, and add in a little suspense. Adriana has the whole package here and im just as excited to read more about Max and Kari after meeting them in The Exception. I want a man like Cane Alexander, and to be the exception to every rule in his life! That my dear people, is true love!

The Connection
I wasn't sure I could love Cane, Jada, Max, and Kari anymore than I already did.... I was completely wrong! So, so wrong! This novella was short, sweet, and to the point and Adriana rocked it! There is so much love in this story it's impossible to put into words! I knew when I first read about Cane he was going to be special, and is he ever! But Jada id a special girl to get Cane to where he is today. I've so enjoyed the ride of Cane and Jada and this novella solidifies my love for these two like nothing I've ever read before! These are two of my favorite characters and I can't wait to continue the journey with Max and Kari and hope for glimpses of Cane and Jada along the way!

The Perception
Omfreakingg!!!! I didn't think anyone or any book could get much better than The Exception and Cane Alexander..... And Adriana proved me wrong! The Perception and Max are just as amazing!! I was so ready for this book because I already loved Max and Kari from The Exception! I'm not sure there are 4 characters out there that I love as much as I do do Cane, Jada, Max, and Kari! They're a family and they love each other and no matter what nothing is going to get in their way! Even when something does seem to threaten Kari and Max. And let me just tell you, Max is perfect! The perfect gentleman! Kari is one lucky girl! You have love, happiness, tears, and some suspense in the amazing book! It's the whole package! Not to mention the author, Adriana, is pretty kick ass and always keeping me on my toes while reading! She did it once again and it was amazing!

***THE EXCEPTION***

The Exception is a debut novel by Adriana Locke and it was amazing! The writing style was great and the characters came to life and it was a wonderful ride. It is also told by dual POV which I love.

Jada's divorce was just finalized and she was ready to move on with her life. She is back home with her sister, 2000 miles away from her Ex and would be working as a real agent agent with her father. Her Ex-husband was a liar and a cheat and she might not be completely sure what she was going to do in the near future, one thing she did know was that she would not go for the bad boy again....

Cane Alexander was the ultimate bad boy. He was not the type to cuddle after sex, he was the type to F- them and get them out as soon as possible. He vowed to himself to not get involved in a relationship ever again after what has happened in his past, he just didn't trust them. Cane knew he could get any woman he wanted and was never turned down until he meet his best friend Max's girl's older sister Jada.

When Jada met Cane heads were turning just as he was walking to the table and she knew exactly why, he was sex on a stick and he knew it. He was arrogant, hot and the exact type she had to stay far away from but knew he would be around because of his friendship with Max. Cane was shocked that his usual ways were not working on Jada but he was not going to give up, he wanted her and had no idea why. Was it because she turned him down or was there more?

Cane could not stop thinking about Jada, she was a firecracker, a sweetheart and he wanted to get to know her. Jada was thinking the same way but fighting it with all she had. She still wanted the white picket fence, the happily ever after but knew that would not happen with Cane. When Cane finally figured out what was happening he tried his best to convince her to at least try. They both knew it wouldn't be perfect and when people from their past come to the surface, it is even harder. Jada is not sure if Cane is only with her to protect her from the past or with her because he wants her for the future. Will Cane step up the the plate and be that man? Can Jada even trust him? They go through so much in a short amount of time. Is it worth it?

Cane and Jada make up a great love story. They both have trust issues and don't know why they are so drawn to each other, they are both stubborn as hell and it makes you want to slap them both. Jada gets Cane to show all of his sides and he hates it but loves it at the same time. He wants to protect her give her what she deserves and he is not sure if he was good enough for her but he wanted to be.

This was the perfect combo for me...there is suspense, humor, awesome secondary characters, romance, a swoon worthy man, a kick a- woman and it made me cry. I can't wait to see what is next for Adriana Locke! Amazing job.

Quotes:

"You shouldn't try to play games with me because I am not a player. I am the coach."

"I want to feel like the only girl in the world to somebody. I want to be their priority, their everything. I don't know what that feels like."

"What's the matter, Cane?" A small grin slid over his face, his features easing. "A little bit of everything and a whole lot of nothing."

"Words were messy, remember?" He winked at me. "And they are not necessary for what I have planned later. You will only need one, actually. My name, on repeat."

***THE CONNECTION
5 hearts

This novella was a surprise to me. I found out about it today and one-clicked it fast. I read both The Exception and The Perception and love this characters. The Connection is in between the two books and it was a perfect fit and build up to Max and Kari's story.

Kari wanted to go to Vegas with her sister Jada but the men in their lives wanted to come along for the ride. A trip to Vegas with these two couples turn into a fun trip of shopping, spas, sexy times and romance!

Cane and Jada are such an amazing couple. Cane is cocky and alpha but in a very sweet and protective way. Jada is laid back, bad ass and so in love. Then there is Max and Kari. They don't know where their relationship is going but Max wants more while Kari is scared of the future. You will fall in love with Max and Kari if you haven't already, that is for sure.

You would definitely need to read The Exception before this novella. I would recommend reading it before The Perception but if you have already read it, it's still a fun and sexy ride.

P.S Read the Bonus Material!

Quotes:

They say you can’t judge a book by its cover. I’ve learned that you can’t judge a man by the one before him, either.

But she’s emotional tonight and I don’t want her to ever feel less than . . . my everything.

“You’ve given me everything I didn’t even I know I wanted, Jada. You give me a reason to stop being the coach,” he winks.

***THE PERCEPTION

4.5 Hearts

I met Max and Kari in The Exception and loved them even then. Max is Cane's best friend and Kari is Jada's sister. I swooned over Max then and even more now and I thought Kari was sassy and when I found out they would be getting their own book I was very excited.

Max and Kari have been in a relationship for about a year and a half. When they first met Kari was not looking for anymore than some fun or a night but after that first night she had a feeling she would not just walk away. She actually spent the night. Even after over a year of staying at his house most nights she refuses to move in, she loves Max and that is why she doesn't want it to go further. There is something from her past that she thinks would change their relationship forever, if there is one after it is revealed. She wants Max to have everything and she believes she can not do that.

Max has wanted Kari from the moment he met her. He knows she is holding back from some reason and he will not give up on her. He will not push her but will keep asking her in a subtle way to move in and move forward with their relationship. He is serious but he keeps it light knowing it will happen one day. It has to. Can Max convince her that she is the only one for her?

There are also some complications beyond their relationship that try to get in the way. A family friend that doesn't believe in their relationship and wants to prove it. There are some twists in the story. I liked that we get to see how Cane and Jada are doing and the side stories intertwine into the book.

I, so swooned over Max! He is sexy, loyal, sweet and giving if you know what I mean :-) and Kari is sassy, fun and doesn't take s- from anyone. They are one beautiful, sexy feisty couple. I laughed, I cried and wanted to slap someone more than once that was messing with them. Can't wait to see what is next from Adriana.

Quotes:

“I’m Max Quinn, the man that can service any and all of your needs.”

“You’re the perfect storm.” His voice was rough, his breath hot on my skin through the thin fabric of the t-shirt.

“Sweetheart, you and me—we’re permanent. You’ll see one of these days. I’m just waitin’ on you to come around.”

~ The Exception (𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 #1)
I absolutely loved The Exception by Adriana Locke when it debuted and was totally captivated all over again with this fabulous, revitalized audio featuring narrators Connor Crais, and Samantha Brentmoor.
Locke catches our attention right away with a scene with the arrogant, cocky bad boy Cane. You were just rooting for him to be brought down a peg and Jada is just the woman for the job. Jada had just moved home to start over after ending a bad marriage. She is out to dinner with her sister, Kari and they happen to meet Kari's sexy f@*# buddy, Max and his friend Cane. Cane can tell that Jada is attracted to him and since he always gets what he wants he just expects that Jada will be another easy conquest. Jada is not that woman and so the fun and games begin. This book has it all, fun and sexy banter, emotional and painful moments, mystery and suspense, but also love and loyalty. Ms. Locke takes the time to develop strong relationships and makes it interesting and unpredictable. I loved the way Locke slowly uncovers the different layers of Jada and Cane and you find they are both not what they seem and their character growth is very satisfying. I really cared about both of them as well and all the secondary characters who really added depth to this book. Kari and Max are so wonderful together and I am excited to listen to their story next!
I loved listening to the way Connor Crais, and Samantha Brentmoor developed and expressed these characters and their struggles so intimately, making them their own. Crais and Brentmoor made me feel all the turmoil, excitement, and sexual tension that Cane, and Jada felt, keeping me completely engaged, and making me care for them, along with Kari and Max, even more this time around.

~ The Connection (𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 #1.5)
I thoroughly enjoyed this novella that 'connected' the time between The Exception and The Perception. I am usually not a fan of novellas but this one was well thought out and executed. The trip to Vegas with Cane, Jada, Max and Kari was filled with fun banter, wonderful bromance, lovely and touching romance and some hot steamy moments as well. You will laugh and maybe shed a tear while reading this totally satisfying Vegas adventure!
Connor Crais, and Samantha Brentmoor continue to narrate this heartwarming and romantic novella. They are so talented, and work so well together as they convey so much emotion in their short performances, that it made my heart completely happy!

~ The Perception (𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 #2)
Well, I think I finally am able to breath! This was such a beautiful, captivating and thrilling story that I was fully absorbed in it from beginning to end. We first met and fell in love with Maxwell Quinn and Kari Stanley in The Exception. Max was the charming, handsome, loyal friend who would do anything for Cane and Jada and Kari was the loving, supportive sister who had a cheerful, carefree air. Max and Kari were already together in The Exception so in this book we were treated to how they met and started dating and then move to after The Exception ended. Kari always keeps Max at a distance but Max is undeterred by her attempts, he just needs to figure out why she is so gun shy and fix it. Max is the ultimate loyal, protective, honorable man who wants to do right by everyone. He is the perfect mix of southern gentleman, devoted son, brother & lover, and sexy alpha-man. We see that Kari is intelligent, loving, and kind and is unable to resist Max. I love the witty banter between them and their chemistry is off the charts. But we learn that Kari has a secret tragic event in her past that stifles her from opening up fully to Max for fear he will not love her anymore. But this is not the main focus of this story but part of the story that makes these characters so genuine and believable. We meet new secondary characters who are great additions to their lives but also those that are unscrupulous as well. This is such a well rounded story that flows so naturally from one scene to the next. There are so many sweet moments but so many intense, heart pounding, and thrilling events as well. I wanted to yell at some points but melted in others. We also had more of Cane and Jada which was wonderful and the bromance scenes with Cane and Max were priceless. I loved that Ms. Locke did not create angsty moments to drive her story but created a clever and exquisite adventure that I didn't want to end. Bravo, Ms. Locke, Bravo!
This heart-pounding and steamy romance is brought to life beautifully by talented narrators, Lee Samuels and Stella Bloom. They did a terrific job capturing each characters personality, and expressing their strength's and vulnerabilities. I was totally lost in this world as they made me feel all the doubt, fear, heartache, joy, and passion of this story.

I loved these fun, exciting, and sizzling romances that captivated me and held my heart long after the closing credits!

Exception:
I definitely enjoyed this book overall but I can't give it 5 stars just because I didn't like how Cane acted at some points. He was a total douche bag.

Cane is a bad boy alpha male all the way and he doesn't let much of anything deter him from what he wants. He only wants Jada at first for the physical but then he realizes a little into the book that nope he needs more. He can't get her out of his mind. It was nice to see him fall in love and see him share about himself. So he redeemed himself for me overall but I can't give it 5 stars because the way he acted at some points was such annoying as all get out.

Jada has been hurt by her ex-husband who was a total bad boy. She meets Cane and you immediately know he's total bad boy so she tries to ignore him. He pursues her of course. I loved in the book where Jada told Cane “I want to feel like the only girl in the world to somebody. I want to be their priority, their everything. I don’t know what that feels like.” I would think that's how most girls feel but it put it into perspective for Cane a little.

They face many road blocks along the way and I was definitely wondering a couple of times who was causing issues. I wound up knowing but I couldn't help but wondering as well in a few spots. Overall a great book and happy to see them work it.

I will have to say though that probably some of my favorite parts of the book where about Max. I love him and watching him date and love Jada's sister Kari made the book even better. I can't wait for their story!

The Perception:
My, oh my! What an AMAZING book! I absolutely LOVED Max Quinn and I want a Max Quinn. I started this book late last night and I should have known better because I knew I loved Max already. The good and the bad for me is that I got to experience even more greatness with Max throughout the book but it caused me to stay up until 4 a.m. and then I had to work at 7. Oops! Oh well, Max is worth it.

I have been in love with Max since we saw him first books of this series (The Exception and The Connection). I just loved how he loved Kari and was always there for her no matter what in those books but I still had no idea just how amazing Max was and would be. Max is literally a perfect Mr. Right if there is one. At least there can be in books and he's it. He literally won my heart over in this book.

I also loved Kari and felt sorry for her to a degree in this book. In the first books, she seem liked a laid back and almost party type of girl. In this book, we saw that she has carried deep hurtful issues that she didn't have anyone at all to talk to about. She's kept them locked inside so long and is so worried about what it means to the future that she just stays away from commitment. That is until Max who she knows she loves but yet she can't open up and tell him her past because she's afraid of the consequences. I can't blame her in one way but in another I wanted to just tell her that can't you see Max loves you and you just need to open up to him.

There was some mystery in this book, as there was in the previous book. I personally saw it coming and was just waiting to see how it would play out. Thus the staying up to 4 a.m. to see how it ended.

This was by far my favorite book of the series. I absolutely loved Max and so glad to see him find his true love and this amazing couple get their happy ending in the epilogue.

Great series! Adriana Locke is becoming one of my favorite authors!

Book 1 and 2 in this series is about Jada and Cane. Cane is your typical bad boy that is "never" going to settle down. Jada is fresh out of an abusive, unhealthy marriage. The attraction is immediate at first meet, but Jada just isn't ready for a relationship. Cane, Mr. I Always Get What I Want, didn't take no for an answer. After many attempts, Jada finally gives in. Their story is full of drama, suspense, danger, sweetness and love. Read it today to find out the full ins and outs of Jada and Cane.

Book 3 is my favorite. It's about Jada's sister, Kari and Max (Cane's best friend). Kari and Max have been "together" for months, but Kari will not call it a relationship or even seriously talk about settling down. I love how the author tells their story. She explains both their past, why they are the way they are, she pulls old flames back into the picture (which of course causes lots of twists), and in the end you get a shocker involving Cane and his past. I just really like the story line of this story. Read this series today!

Jada and Cane were such a rollercoaster of emotion! Cane made me want to throw my kindle more than once but - gah! The way he loves her and is an absolute caveman to protect her makes my book loving heart swoon.

“I haven’t seen the sun shine since you left … Because my future doesn’t exist without you.”

Their chemistry is scorching hot but it’s also raw and primal and so delicious! I also loved the element of suspense in this story. Cane needs that boost to support his alpha personality so the balance is perfect.

I loved seeing Jada’s growth throughout this story and watching Cane’s arrogance bolster her confidence. They definitely compliment each other in the best way. Seeing them find their happily ever after was everything!

Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor are perfect as Jada and Cane and totally bring this story to life.

I also loved seeing Cane and Jada’s Vegas adventure and all their steamy-swoon worthy moments!

“It’s like you had my heart my whole life, and it’s just now that I’m put back together.”

3.5 stars overall for the 2 novels and novella combined in this set. I recommend reading them all and in order.

The Exception is Cane and Jada's story. She's just gotten a divorce and moves back to Arizona to live with her sister. Cane happens to be best friends with the guy her sister is seeing, but he's a player. The story was good, but there was quite a bit of language and some violence.

The novella is like an extended epilogue to Cane and Jada, and it is sweet.

The Perception is Max and Kari's story. Prologue tells how they met, then the book picks up a bit of time after the novella. Max and Kari are already together, and their book is about whether he can get her to take the next steps in their relationship.

All three dive deep into the bonds of family, friendship, and love. Cane and Max work together in addition to being brother-like best friends, so there is a lot of all four characters in all the books.

Exception wasn't my favourite book by this author. I know a lot of people are obsessed with Cane Alexander, but he just didn't impress me in this book as much as some of the other characters Ms. Locke has written. He matured/evolved in the other two books in the series and I enjoyed him more in Connection and Perception.

Jada and Cane ultimately prove to be a good fit, but I wasn't sold on it at the beginning. Their wedding in Connection was very sweet.

Kari and Max's story in Perception was very interested. Max is an adorable guy and he was so patient as Kari finally came to trust him enough to tell him what was holding her back from fully investing in the relationship. The suspense with Samantha was interesting and creepy - well-written.

They ultimately all have their HEAs and the epilogue in Perception lets us see how all the main characters from the series are doing. Very nice ending to the series.

This book has all 3 in 1

This book had all 3 novels in it. I loved Cane and Jada's story. It started as tolerance, to like, to lust then to love. When Cane told Jada that "I always get what I want... " she had no idea that it was her..

Then in Max and Kari started with lust that grew into love. A true story of love at first sight... But an internal fear kept it from growing.

Both are stories of facing your fears and battling the internal demons that keep you up at night. Love will always find its way through the darkness.

I didn’t remember

I didn’t remember getting this box set, I was scrolling through my kindle in a slump looking for something to read, I came across this book and said, she never fails to deliver awesome reads I’ll try it. I was quite surprised and excited to see I’d gotten the box set, not only did I get Cane and Jadas series, but I also got to read Max and Karis book. Both series in this box set are amazing!!!! I give every book in here 5 stars each... must read as books alone or the entire set. Happy reading ;)

LOVE LOVE LOVE

Adriana Locke is by far the most amazing author out there. Her mix of family love and a bit of drama are outstanding. I have read every book of hers I can find and will continue to read all of her work.
These two books had me missing sleep to see what was next. They prove family isn’t always blood but also that blood runs deep. Cane and Max will make you drool. All these women will make you want to join the family and Sam will make you want to strangle her. Multiple love stories with lots of twists and turns.

Cane and Max, what an amazing combo. Jada and Kari were perfect for these men. I'm not sure I could have held off as long as Kari did....Max was a gem. For a debut novel, The Exception was perfect. Adrian Locke writes nothing but unforgettable books. Wish Connor had a story. He sounds as amazing as Cane and Max. Almost to the end of everything the author has written! Looking forward to future books!

Cheating

I should’ve checked the reviews before reading this book. My penance is to write a review so that readers who are wiser than me can avoid the same mistake. The hero is not just a player who disrespects women, but a cheater. The heroine just got out of a marriage with an emotionally abusive cheater, and the author stuck her with this loser. Not nice. I will no longer read books by this author.

*AUDIO REVIEW*

I read this series some years back which was a roller coaster of emotion! Listening to it was another experience within itself and I'm so glad I did!! If you literally want to go through every emotion that is known to mankind, then this one's for you haha. If you're not afraid of a LOT of drama and passion, then please know this is your series.

Also thinking of Cane as I'm writing this, loved him. I'm literally afraid of people who don't.

The Exception series

Omg 😲 😱 😲 this series was amazing. I couldn't put it down. Read the 2 stories in about 3 days! Cane and Jada were off the charts hilarious and Max and Kari were so awesome together. The pain she went thru, to have Max in the end, was heart breaking, but so beautiful.
***** 5 stars for sure Adriana

So freaking good

I loved Jada and Kari’s stories and the men who made them. Max and Cade are swoon-worthy book boyfriends who know how to treat their women. The plot line of the story intertwined beautifully and while I saw some things coming, I was surprised at the end.

This is a compilation of a few stories involving the same characters. Very fun and easy to read. A lot of romance and swooning. I liked the believable ‘danger’ aspects and thought it kept the story moving at a good pace. Technically, I should get credit for 2 books with this one. Lol

The Exception Series

I have to go back ad do each book separately, but if you can't fall in love with Cane Alexander and Max Quinn, then I don't think you can fall in love at all. Cane is the epitome of the large and in charge alpha male and Max is the best country raised gentleman around! I love this series and this story line!!! Awesome read!!! All 3 books

I've heard so much about this series and I wasn't sure how it would go. I'm mad at myself first not reading these books sooner. Oml. They are so amazing.

Read this series. Don't listen to anything that may alter your views (like I did). These heroes are so different from one another but best friends. There heroines are sisters that truly love one another, Burt things get in the way. I loved them all. READ THIS SERIES. I PROMISE YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!

The Exception

I enjoyed this series. I liked Jada and Cane but I have to say Cane made me want to smack him at times. I feel like they fought against falling in love way too hard.

As much as I liked Jada and Cane, Kari and Max really stole my heart. I was able to relate to her insecurities which made to story believable for me. I love how strong Max was emotionally and didn't give up on Kari.

I just can't get enough of Ms. Locke. After re-reading Sway and finishing WITS, I discovered this gem. Max is a sweetheart and Cane is on the book boyfriend list (with Barrett, and Ty, and Cord-if only). I liked the mystery around this series. Although slightly predictable, it played out well. This was a good read.
