Hey, Kae here! After confronting my feelings and Mutsumi-senpai reassuring me to take my time, things have calmed down again.
Shima-chan and I are super pumped to meet the voice actors of our beloved Akane and Master. But at the event, something shocking happens. It turns out that Akane is none other than my childhood friend, Tah-kun!
Though we haven't seen each other in forever, he transfers to my school and asks for my support. I don't see why he can't join in on the fun! The others don't seem too happy, though. Before long, I'm worried, too, because Tah-kun is weak and gets sick almost every day.
I'm ready to do whatever it takes to help a friend, but why does everyone else seem so wary of him? Even Mutsumi-senpai is on guard! Is there something I don't know about Tah-kun?

Omg!!!
I really feel like spamming this review with shocked-reaction-face gifs, but I hate when people do that so I will spare you, dear reader.
But like for real though!!! Your girl is shook! Both me, and Kae!!!!! Oh my god!!! I can’t handle it.
Okay, breathe. I’m freaking out about the end of the volume, but let’s go back to the top.
The volume starts off after the ending of the last volume where a new character was hinted. Well we find out who he is!! I really can’t say anything more without entering hard spoilers so, see ya! But I’ll leave you off with this: DON’T READ THE BACK COVER!!! It spoils who the new character is so you don’t get the shock of finding out yourself. I was actually so lucky I literally stopped reading the back cover like two words before it spoiled me, just because I got bored, lol. I was like, “Whatever, I’ll just read the manga to see what happens, I don’t need to read the back cover.” BY GOD WAS I RIGHT.
I need the next volume SO BADLY. It’s literally already published in English so it’s not like I have to wait for it to be released or anything, it’s just that, yenno, I’m not a money dispenser. Soon!!!!!!

I reviewed the first book of this series, so if you want to know what it’s about, read that. But basically, Kae is a chubby fangirl who ships guys together (in life and in fiction) and in japan this type of fangirl is called a fujoshi. When her favorite character dies, she attracts the attention of a couple of guys (and in a later volume, a girl!) it turns out all these characters have more genuine affection for her than just attraction to her superficial appearance, even straying out of their comfort zone (and into her fandom) just to hang out with her. While it is at times heartwarming, the series thus far has shown many of the usual tropes and any hope of having real non-fujoshi queer representation is almost nil.
This book enters another player onto the scene, and I am so very done with this manga. But I’ve read 10 volumes, even at volume 9 I felt like I was in for a penny in for a pound, so I had to keep going. That really took up the whole volume, the new guy. Considering it starts out really sweet and then starts to get melodramatic, I think how you feel about the series thus far defines how you feel about this entry, because there’s terribly little development for the established cast. And honestly, it is a weird friend group, and if it weren't for Kae, they wouldn’t hang out, but I kinda like them as a group.
In sum, this is another shady entry into the history of this ‘reverse-harem’ manga. Nice to see that a pretty-face from Kae’s past doesn’t care how heavy she is, only the content of her heart, but SPOILERS he’s a creep and the gang will have to come together to save her in the next volume! So I guess the final book will deal with her finally choosing (or not choosing) this guy entered too late in the game to be a real threat, I guess.

I laughed and my heart-warmed when Shinomiya tried his best to defend Kae- such dedication! :P

El manager del man me hace dudar de todo, pero igual consigue la atención y cuidados de Kae, y aunque incluso Igarashi pasa por alto la situación, mi precioso Senpai nooo y lo enfrentaaaa, cuestiona su disque enfermedad, y le hace saber a Kae qué esa amabilidad es lo que le gusta de ella y le afirma que cualquier cosa que necesite, él siempre estará para protegerla, amooooo.
El man fuerza a su manager a llamar a Kae a un evento y post, el perro la droga, pero el bonito manager contacta a los chicos para pedirles ayuda, aunque todos se preocupan, obvio resaltan mi Senpai e Igarashi, emputados xmil, la encuentran, pero el man volvió a engordarla sjsjaja y aunque intentan llevársela, ella se niega hasta que Mutsumi interviene, convenciendola y haciéndola seguirlo, pero se topan con unos matones, Shinomiya logra llevársela, pero el ogt los separa y amenaza a Kae con los matones, se trasladan, pero los chicos los siguen, pues Nana también hizo amistad con el manager y este le avisa de todo ajsjja, Takeru le dice que es el único que la quiere por lo que es y no por como se ve y planea una boda, WTF.

New character, same old situation. I dunno, sometimes I feel like this series is getting kind of tired, and the end of this volume kind of goes off the rails. Still, I always like seeing Kae and Shima getting steamed up over whatever thing, and Mutsumi nerd out about history and he's starting to...kind of mature a little? Although sometimes the protectiveness bullshit in this series still pisses me off.
I'm still bummed out that I didn't see I had the 11th and 12th volumes on hold before I left work yesterday though! Volume 10 coming in was a great birthday present, even if it didn't end up being as hilarious as I had hoped. :/

Uh.... This got a little weird... I can appreciate the choice to put in a new character, but I kind of missed the adventures with our usual boyz. And I feel a little bit like we're losing the plot. Everyone is still in love with Serinuma, which is fine, but I want something ELSE to happen now! Like... it's called Kiss Him, Not Me! so... you know...
Anyway, whatever. I still liked this one fine, but how long can they follow her around without anything else happening except them saving her all the time? HOW LONG?!?

The story arc in this volume about Takeru went into a bit of a weird direction, but I found it all very interesting and entertaining, even if it was a tad on the cliche side. My favorite part was definitely when Mitsumi became all fierce and protective over Kae; he rarely gets that way, but when he does... everyone better watch out! Lolol

Things are getting more exciting! Just when you think it couldn't get better, a new character/competitor suddenly appears!
I'm always suspicious of new characters from the MC's past suddenly popping up out of nowhere acting all goody-goody and what not without even being mentioned in the first 9 volumes. And low and behold, my intuition was right! Can't wait for the story to unfold!

There is SO MUCH drama in this volume!
I really hate the voice actor kid and how he went from childhood friend to a yandere creep. Why can’t one outside character like Kae-chan as a friend and not romantically? This is getting on my nerves a bit and I really hope that Kae-chan stands up to her childhood friend.

This one was disappointing, especially because I loved the last volume so much. I hope the introduction of this new, unlikable character actually leads to some sort of other development (like with the last side character introduction) or it'll all feel like a waste of time.

This series is my guilty pleasure. I always laugh when reading it’s such a funny story with really great characters. This book has such an intense cliff hanger that I am really worried about Kae and hope that she will be safe again soon.

I am loving this arc with Tah-kun! He felt like a real winner character to me and now we see his true intentions. I love how the guys are all coming together to protect Kae and how one of the guys in particular is running the defence. So so cute and I am dying to see where this series is taking me!

Well...I can honestly say...I did not expect this to go where it did...I don’t know if I like that either and what the author used as plot devices in this instance. Also not too sure what the overall point was aside from shock factor. Anyways, onto the next one 😳
