The Church Murders became a bestseller in its categories throughout the summer and was nominated as Book Of The Month in three different Goodreads groups. DEATH OF A BRIDE was the third Greek Island Mystery to be released. Released in April, 2016 it followed in the footsteps of its successful predecessors. From its first week in release it hit the number one spot for books set in Greece. It was BOTM in the group Mysteries and Crime thrillers and chosen as one of the best mysteries for 2016 by ReadFreely. MURDER ON DISPLAY came out in 2017 and enriched the series. Luke Christodoulou has also ventured into ‘children's book land’ and released 24 MODERNIZED AESOP FABLES, retelling old stories with new elements and settings. The book, also, features sections for parents, which include discussions, questions, games and activities. He is currently working on the fifth book of his planned Greek Island Mysteries book series. He resides in Limassol, Cyprus with his loving wife, his chatty daughter and his crazy newborn son. Hobbies include travelling the Greek Islands discovering new food and possible murder sites for his stories. He, also, enjoys telling people that he ‘kills people for a living’.
How do authors come up with these fantastic ideas?
Great central characters, but way too many family members to keep track of! That said, I have purchased book #4. I spent two weeks in Greece in 1985 and still have great memories!!
These books easily qualified for there five stars each real!y. The main characters Iolli and Costa's Papacostas. Were full well bodied individuals. Committed cops partners proud to be lead homicide cops in Greece, Athens and tne Island's. The meat and bones fictional wonderful stories. The extremes of the seasons the love pride beauty and honesty reflected in the lands and its people, was divine. The books cheered me. They were thoughtful funny and playful. Loved it all. Am off to find more. Certainly worth having a look at, I think you will also love this author and his works. I'm hoping Luke Christodoulou is as avid a writer as I'd love to be of reading many more his stories's.
Terrible proofreading/editing. Many many wrong words: ‘expects’ when it should be ‘experts’, for example. Some odd usage of punctuation. In the Bride story, is the father’s name Cosmas or Cosma? No clear majority. And WORST: he got the book 1 genetics wrong.... two blue-eyed parents can only have blue-eyed children. Brown-eyed can have either brown or blue. (Sorry, book 1 mystery NOT solved.) Worst part: the author is an English teacher!
I found myself yearning to visit Greek island after reading these books. Very descriptive writing. The author has a great writing style and got right to the story. I was drawn in right at the first few pages can't wait to read the rest of the series. Highly recommended!
I got through 2 books, but will not read the third. The plots are fairly entertaining and engaging, but there are just too many editing mistakes. Sometimes it felt like it had been translated into English from another language, which is forgivable. But, unfortunately, this is just sloppy editing.
I grew up reading Agatha Christie, the words painting scenes in my mind. I've missed reading her, but think I've found something that reminds me of her work!
Great series! The first three books by Luke Christodoulou..
I thoroughly enjoyed this series of mystery books set in the Greek Islands. The series reminded me of the beauty and culture of Greece when I visited Greece. Books tend to be rather graphic at times. I definitely would recommend the books and author.
