Finding Adam

Rate this book

"I never expected to find someone like you."

"I need to know who I am on my own."

Adam Grant is ready to take charge of his own life. Instead of the corporate internship his wealthy, controlling father secured for him, he's going to spend the summer working in the mountains of British Columbia. He'll be outside his comfort zone and beyond the reach of his father's influence, the perfect environment to find himself. But he'll find something else while he's there, too... love.

"I don't rely on anyone but myself. I can't afford to."

Jase Miller expects life to let him down. Fighting against odds that have always been stacked against him, he's learned some valuable lessons. Don't trust anyone. Keep your feelings hidden. Look out for yourself first. But stuck in close quarters with a new trainee up on the mountain, Jase is about to find out that there are some things he still has yet to learn.

"We're better together... no matter what they throw at us."

Each man will have his world turned upside down, but when outside forces work to tear them apart, can they trust in the love they've found to pull them through?

Wow. There's so much door slamming going on in this book it's like reading about two twelve years old girls.

Jase is not a likable character and he's so angry all the time, and mostly is completely unjustified.
Having started off trying to get Adam fired, Jase does a complete u-turn with no explanation.

There's absolutely no connection between Adam and Jase, the characters and dialogue are immature and lack development.

Unfortunately this didn't do it for me at all. DNF at 65%

Finding Adam: I love books about young men fighting their way out from under their controlling parent's influence to be independent people and this book about Adam and Jace didn't disappoint.

“I feel like I’ve waited all my life to hear those words…”
I loved this aptly titled novella, Adam and Jase may get off to a rough start, but the underlying attraction between them was impossible for me to resist. With Jase struggling to help his sister and under pressure to push his boss’ agenda, and Adam standing on the outside looking in on an entirely new world to him, once they do manage to get themselves on the same page, there’s a sweetness that stands in such contrast to the gruffness of the work site that I couldn’t get enough. I also loved Adam’s perseverance when he arrived at the job, and found myself rooting for him to remain defiant towards his domineering father, who played every card at his disposal to keep his son under thumb. (It took me a while to warm up to either Jase’s sister and Adam’s mother, while both Jase’s boss and Adam’s father stayed firmly on my list of characters to scowl at.) Quick paced and entertaining, with an epilogue that addressed all of my lingering questions and left me smiling, Dillon Hunter has once again given me reason to look forward to his next offering…

I was given this book in exchange for a honest review so here it is.....This was a great story. The story line was strong and the characters are well developed and believable. This is a story of two men living their own lives who were brought together almost by fate. Adam had always been under his father's thumb and control. His parents not happy with his lifestyle, trying to keep him away from other men, demanding he come and intern in his father's consulting business as he is going into his last year of college. Adam is ready to break the control his father has and takes a summer job in the mountains of British Columbia. Once there he meets Jase, his new roommate and mentor, who at first is rude and not so nice. Jase has been ordered by his foreman to make Adam's life miserable which would make him quit and go home. Evidently Adam's father had called with his power and money to encourage the foreman to make this happen. As time goes on, Adam and Jase become friends and eventually more. But Adam's father is determined to keep him under his control by threatening Adam that he would no longer have their support financially as he goes back for his last year of college. Confused as to what to do, Adam and Jase have fallen in love and Adam doesn't want to leave Jase. This is a journey you will want to go on with these two amazing men. A love that causes the pieces to fall together and a future that is meant to be. Loved this book and the characters. Don't miss it.

Finding Adam was such a sweet story of two young men who find one another when they least expect it. Jase, working on a logging crew, had to become a man when he was barely legal in order to care for his sister after their mother died and Adam, still in his last year of college, is trying his wings out for the first time, in direct defiance of his father's iron fisted rules concerning his future.
Adam shows up at the logging camp, ready to try something totally out of his realm of experience, not realizing that his father has already attempted to sabotage the chance he has there. Jase was told by his boss Mac to attempt to bully or force Adam into leaving because Adam's father has offered a significant sum of money to anyone who can make Adam go home again in failure, so he can continue to live under his father's thumb.
Jase had his own reasons for agreeing but he hated doing it, especially once he met Adam, his new roommate. As they got to know wone another, Jase was unable to continue with the plan, and things changed considerably for them both once Jase admitted what he was told to do and once Adam was aware of his father's attempted manipulation. So began a road full of bumps and detours on the way to true love and happiness.

****4 Adam Finds Himself Stars****

This is my first Dillon Hunter story and I really enjoyed it! It had everything I look for in a MM romance! Adam goes against his rigid, controlling father and takes a job for the summer in the mountains at a reforestation camp. He meets Jase who is in charge of making sure Adam quits right away, on orders from Adam's father. But things don't always work like that. As their friendship turns to something more emotional and they become lovers, Adam discovers a lot about himself and what he wants out of his life. Nothing ever seems to go right for Jase, but that changes when he meets Adam.

It had been good. Really, really good. And Jase wasn’t ready for it to end. He closed his eyes, breathing in the scent of his sexy man, lying with him in Jase’s favorite place. It was truly his definition of paradise. Safe, quiet, tranquil paradise.

He’d found his voice and stood up to his father. He’d found Jase, and then found love. And finally, after years of searching, he’d found himself.

I will be looking for more from the talented Dillon Hunter!

¸.•*´¨)
(¸.•´ ★An easy read. 3.5 stars.

A lowly bet. Get rid of Adam and Jase could earn the money to help his sister out. Should have been easy, right? Wrong. Adam was nothing like Jase had expected, and after getting to know his new roommate, he found Adam to be more than a little distracting.

Proving his father wrong, that was all Adam wanted to do. He was too controlling and Adam just needed to escape for a while. Taking a logging job for the summer was his means of gaining back some semblance of his life. However with threats from his father disinheriting him, Adam had to do what was best for his peace of mind.

Six weeks was as long as Adam needed to make a point. But with temptation in the form of Jase, will either man be able to make it? What started as a campaign to get rid of Adam turned out to be a story about finding Adam and saving him.

I'm voluntarily reviewing a free advance reader copy I received from the author.

I really enjoyed the character of Adam, and I loved seeing him find his own way out from under his father's thumb. Jase was described as someone who was a jerk, but that didn't really ring true underneath it all. Jase was so worried about his sister and almost worked to make Adam's life miserable, but he tends to tell things like it is. He had a hard time lying to Adam, especially after he began to like Adam as a friend. The full on switch of Jase from jerk to loving, doting guy seemed a bit of a stretch near the end, but I can believe that happiness could do that to a guy. I enjoyed the story. 3.5 stars

Too much anger and negativity for me.

From the very beginning of the story, the anger Jase had about everything turned me off. Honestly, he didn't have a positive thing to say about anyone. I really did not feel any connection between Jase and Adam. And then to go from trying to get Adam fired, as he was told to do by the foreman, his feeling changed in the blink of an eye for no reason I could understand. Oh yeah, enough with Adam rolling his eyes. I counted 14 of them from Adam in a story of 76 pages. After a few chapters, I just had to skim the book to see if it got better, but for me it did not...but make your own judgment...this was just mine.

Good Tale

This story is well told. Two men find each other and fall in love. One needs to stand up to his father. The other is asked to thwart that. The innate goodness of the one wins out. It's sweet, touching, and romantic.

Happy ever after

The book was OK it was kind of slow at the end but it was good. It needed more Humph for Jase at the end the story would've more of a hit.
