In a setting with such flexibility in gear and in-game changes, the starting characters matter and this work does a good job expanding those possibilities. The four additional races are distinct and relatively unique. Each also expands the political / diplomatic aspect of the setting by establishing complex and interesting dynamics between the races rather than just "we need to cooperate to survive the post war era."
