Rate this book
We cannot choose our parents, but can we choose our destiny? Her faith in God and her love for her children kept Lorie Williams sane while she was held captive by her biological father for twenty-seven years. Her story broke in 1995. read this for school; the fact that this happened 30 minutes from where I go to school and only 30 years ago is insane. A prime example of how the system fails people.

This book was really hard to read in a way that breaks your heart. If you think the system is broken now, reading this book confirms that it has been broken for a very long time. So many emotions run wild while reading this book. But, a happy ending is the end result, as her Faith in God is shown throughout the book.

This is a rough read. Incest and rape…and of all the public services in place, the multitude of times she reached out for help why does the system fail. Why? 😫
