Paige Turns out he was everything I ever wanted-charming, loving, and super sexy. But I knew being with Levi, the gorgeous MMA fighter every woman wanted, was going to be difficult. Especially since he's so far away training a beautiful up-and-coming female fighter, teaching the very thing he thrives on. I just didn't realize how damaging and strenuous this would be to our relationship. With so many twists and turns, unfortunately, we both got blindsided by the unexpected. Levi I'm everything she wants and surprisingly, she was everything I needed. Quickly she became my very existence-my heartbeat. Everything around me faded as she became clear in view. And just because I'm affectionate toward her doesn't mean I've changed. Don't confuse my being in love with weakness. I'm still pretty damn perfect. I knew distance was going to be hard, but hell, this is agonizing. ***UnExpected is a continuance of Blindsided (The Fighter Series Book #1), beginning right where book 1 left off. It's highly recommended you read Blindsided first.***

Book 2, UnExpected, was not perfect, there were some issues, but it still gave me just enough of the angst and drama I was looking for. I plan to reread this in the future.
Cheating: once, physical- drunken kiss w/ some groping. On-page, we get one short paragraph.
Grovel: it was so, so. I think he was way too arrogant and cocky in his approach. She forgave him like in a day or two. Lucky for him, he also convinced me he deserved a second chance.
Main issue for me: the H tells us how miserable he was w/out the h during the separation (a few months), but we never actually see it. It's off-page, skipped over, so we're only told about it. I needed to see it. I believed him, though, so there's that.
HEA: it felt rushed and I wish the epilogue had given us a glimpse of them in the more distant future, instead of just a month later. I think that would have solidified their HEA more.
We ended the last book with Levi and Paige finally settling into a relationship, but Levi being given the opportunity to coach an up and coming women's fighter out in Florida, thus setting Levi and Paige on a long-distance relationship path. In this book, they're struggling with it. Levi keeps trying to convince Paige to travel with him and Paige keeps trying to assert her independence. Paige doesn't even realize she still has major insecurities about Levi's ability to be faithful until he keeps having "This isn't what it seems" moments. Enough of them and Paige lets her insecurities run wild. Meanwhile, Ryker is stirring up trouble and messing with Levi's trust as well.
Lot of OW/OM drama happening here. Levi is working with Katie out in Florida and he knows she's crushing on him, but she's not getting his "leave me alone" vibe. He's attracted to her and definitely willing to look, but determined to keep the professional relationship between them. She just keeps pushing him, and he's missing Paige and she's getting upset because he keeps getting caught in these suspicious circumstances that "aren't what they look like" and then he and Paige have a fight. Then he does the worst thing possible to shatter Paige's trust and he confesses to her and ends it. To Levi's credit, he is completely and totally remorseful, guilt-ridden and rides his guilt train right on back to the station. But he ends all contact and basically abandons Paige who is left in a limbo...which is why she starts up a friendship with Ryker which becomes physical for a hot minute (before she runs away disgusted with herself). And when Levi has earned Paige's forgiveness (most of this is off-page, but their reunion isn't), Levi learns what Paige and Ryker were up to and has the gall to lose his temper over that. But I can kinda see it...if she loved Levi THAT much, and she's hooking up with another guy that soon when she isn't the "hook-up" kind of woman, then that says a lot about her feelings for Levi. But then, that wasn't what Levi was upset about...he didn't like that his enemy knew what his woman tasted like. SMH.
This has a lot of good parts and was definitely more enjoyable than the first one. I think, although I was frequently annoyed with just about every character at some point in this story, I liked them more as a whole. I can completely see where Paige is coming from and why she's suspicious (Levi does not have a great track record...this is the guy who slept around while trying to get Paige into bed in the last book) although her constant suspicion was a bit much. I understood where Levi was coming from - she keeps suspecting him of cheating and not trusting him and he keeps begging her to come along with him where she'd see the truth, but she keeps refusing.
The angsty drama was also highly entertaining even if it did make me roll my eyes at how back and forth and soap opera-ish it felt at times.

I was bored, it might’ve been my mood. It had all my tropes...just not a hit.
The reveal to H of the OM/h (we read kiss on page), made me uncomfortable. He’s a MMA “badass” on the verge of pro. He’s so angry he strikes the wall by her head. Rage violence is not dark-erotica sexual violence. I’ve read it with other H’s and been cool with it. This H made me nervous...and I LIKE him. The OM is his rival so that was shit done by the h. The H had broken with the h. So I don’t blame her a make out session, but not with this guy. Starting the drama was the H kissing an OW on page and it was so sudden I never felt like I understood why it happened. He told the h, broke up with her, then ghosted her.
What-the-fuck-ever...it’s a duet, and I can’t believe I wasted 2 days reading them both.
UnExpected is the second book in the Fighter Series by TC Matson. It's the continuation of Levi and Paige's story.
The book started off well for me. I like the way Levi was committed- it's a different vibe from the first book. I still think Paige is too whiny. However, Levi's commitment still leaves room for improvement and is the cause of much heartache. That said there still wasn't much substance - the entire book focused on the relationship without much depth.
Matson continued her style of writing from both point of views. I enjoyed Levi's version. He was humorous as well as conversational and a great story teller.
Similar to the first book, there are still a few editing issues. Nothing earth shattering, but enough to notice.
Lastly, Matson continued to develop the supporting cast of characters adding to the storyline. I'd still like to see Blain and Ryker with their own books.
All in all, it was an enjoyable read. We heard more from Adam and his story will finally be fully revealed in the next book of the series, Awakened.
3.5 stars. Definitely better than the first one, and I would have given it an extra star if not for the h Paige. I hated her. Sorry. Again this isn't for the Safety gang. Levi of course messes up by cheating. Before that, he was caught in compromising positions. The way he was training the up and coming fighter Katie was very unprofessional. Sorry, but we don't train like that. He for sure was giving her mixed signals. You couldn't even be mad at her whe she threw herself at him, and later when he finally succumbed to kissing and groping her. Look the author did a good job with him talking to the readers each time a woman presented herself in front of him. He wasn't trustworthy. The way he touched and whispered into other women's ears while in a relationship was disrespectful. So I wasn't sure what the author was trying to do here. I may like reading these kind of angsty asshole stories, but I would never date a man like this. But what really pissed me off was how the author tried to make Ryker, the next opponent of Levi a bad guy. Newsflash he wasn't. Paige tried to make him sound rapey and gross, and he was neither of those things. I hated Paige for saying he was taking advantage of her. He actually liked her, and I'm not even sorry to say Ryker was a better person than Levi. Though I'm sure the author will completely change his character in his book. He's the one who brought Paige out of her pity party. She was giving him mixed signals. In her POV she was feeling it between her legs every time he looked at her. And if you're wondering if Levi was celibate during their several month separation he was. And he told her straight upfront. SHE lied about what happened between her and Ryker, and then tried to make it seem like he was the bad guy. Of course Ryker used that to his advantage before their fight. He was pissed and disappointed at Paige for taking Levi back. She's definitely the type of woman you don't want hanging with the band. She'll break the whole damn band up! So yeah, she irritated the f*** out of me. I can't be the only one. Now, did Levi redeem himself? Yeah, I think so. Is he going to mess up in the future? Definitely. Is Paige going to run off and do something idiotic? Most likely. So by the conclusion of these two books they were perfect for each other 🙃. Oh and they have another book about them, but it's later on in the series, so I have to read the others first.
Overall it was ok. Got my heart pumping because it was an angst trainwreck 😅.
At the end of Blindsided I was hoping that Paige and Levi would get their happily ever after and everything would fall into place. But that would have been too easy and nothing worth having is ever easy.
When Levi agrees to train a new, female fighter out-of-state, he knows that it's going to put a strain on his new relationship with Paige. The distance alone would make it difficult but when things start to get a little too personal with his new fighter he knows he's in deep sh*t. Paige tries to accept Levi's past for what it is and wants to believe that he can be faithful to her while away. But when the media starts to expose cracks in their relationship, she begins to have her doubts.
Things are always darkest before the dawn and Paige and Levi have to hit rock bottom before they realize what they mean to each other. However, when Levi's competitor Ryker decides to make a play for Paige, all bets are off.
I thought this was a fantastic follow-up to the first book and I love seeing the emotion between these two characters. I would highly recommend this series.
What I liked: I liked how Paige(h) told Lexi(H) how she felt about the pictures (and also about her insecurities) I also liked her relationship with her brother.
What I didn’t like: I didn’t like Katie(ow) and how she threw herself at Lexi. I also didn’t like how Lexi took a couple of months before he came back for the h and how mad he got at Paige about kissing Ryker when did what he did first.
How hot was it: 3 out 5
Triggers: H is a fighter who is away training a female fighter. Some flirting goes on and one night after fighting with the h, he gets drunk and kisses ow with some hand action.
Final thoughts: This was a good book. I think what stops me from giving it 4 stars is the fact that we really don’t see him work for her forgiveness (he tells us she is moving at a snail pace but we didn’t get to read about it). Also, I wanted more of a grovel :/

Unexpected is the continuation of Blindsided and picks up where it left off. A rival comes into the picture and months later the hero decides he wants her back but there should have been a NO and where were was the groveling?! Team Ryker is who I'm rooting for but...
Paige is learning to live her life for her and moving on. Ryker, Levi's rival takes an interest but as soon as Levi calls and demands to make things right she's back on that train.
Levi wants Paige to give up everything for him and goes ballistic when he finds out who she hung out with when he was living his life.
Can these two who are complete opposites turn this rollercoaster ride into something less bumpy?
3.5 Stars - Worth A Reader's Time I have to confess that if I had to rate this book by itself, it wouldn't be a 3.5 star book (it would be closer to a 3), but when combined with Blindsided, the whole story deserves the higher rating. UnExpected is very well written and good conclusion to Paige and Levi's story. But, I will say that I wonder if this really needed to be a two book set. Both books, but especially the beginning of UnExpected seem to have a fair amount of repetitiveness. I sympathized with how both Paige and Levi felt, but it felt like we were more than 1/3 of the way into the book before anything of real import had happened. If you have read Blindsided, then you will definitely enjoy seeing what happens next for our fighter and his lady. If you haven't read the first book, then I suggest you hold off on reading this one because it plops you right in the middle of their relationship. Ms. Matson is a newer author to me and I am looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next.
Unexpected was the perfect title.. I went into this thinking one thing, I never seen the unexpected coming..
With Levi the sexy as sin MMA fighter being so far away from Paige in Florida training a sexy female fighter, will their relationship stand or crumble...
After all the chasing Levi finally caught Paige, their relationship is still new and fragile and now he has to leave her to train Katie the sexy new up and coming women's MMA fighter..
With Levi's championship in a few months he wanted to spend all his spare time with Paige, however his manager had other plans for him.. Florida..
In unexpected you can feel all the emotions rolling from the pages, when Levi loves he loves hard, he's a fighter, he's going to fight for his and Paige's relationship, he's bound and determined to make this work until.... The unexpected..
Will they jump off the angsty emotional roller coaster that is their relationship with both feet or will they crash and burn?....
To my book buddies, you know who you are.I know your triggers & this book is a bullet.I still got a headache from the head shot.I'm not feeling up to any detailed analysis here because I'm going to end up hurling up words if I start but to those that do enjoy 'too cocky for their own good men' & where that cockiness leads to their eventual downfall then you are going to eat up this book as it is very well written.
I greatly anticipated this second in the series since reading the first one in 2015.It went exactly as I expected it to go so for me there was nothing really unexpected as the title would suggest. After you have been reading books for ages you somehow 90% of the time intuitively guess the journey & I'm sad to reveal I was spot on.I wish it had gone unexpectedly in the other direction but despite that & my heartache the writing does deserves 4 stars.
Once again the author kept me intrigue and completely in awe!! I love Levi and Paige's relationship!! Just like every great relationship there a roller coaster, things that will test our loyalty and most importantly ways to overcome and allow love to win!! Gosh I hope there's a finally that will tell us what will become of these two. It's a great read and I definitely recommend this to anyone who loves an crazy no holds barred alpha male and a woman who just knows what she wants and deserves.
This story continues from where #1 left off. Paige and Levi are struggling to keep their relationship going as Levi is away in order to train a beautiful new female fighter. The media are certainly not helping the situation by exposing cracks. Will their relationship survive? You need to read this for yourself to find out. No spoilers from me. This author has done a great job in this storyline, and I felt as if I was on a rollercoaster of a journey. I was certainly hooked and captivated throughout. Looking forward to the next book!
I was so happy there was another book about Paige and Levi!! The struggle of life that those two went through in different times was really hard for me but I absolutely loved it. Great book by a great author!!
couldn't put it down from the second I picked it up. my emotions were all over the place. Great story. loved finding out what happened. T C Matson is the best. definitely recommending
I didn't read boon one but from what I can tell I would have even less faith In the h had I started there. Regardlesss, It was obvious from the start that the H was gonna cheat. He kept going on and on about how he loved his girl. How he was faithful. Etc But any man who pats himself on the back each time he turns down another woman or doesn't act on his attraction is not a trustworthy dude. Generally, you don't have those kinds of thoughts regularly when in love.
It was obvious he was attracted to the girl he was training from day one. Their training and behavior with eachother was very unprofessional and he WAS flirting with her constantly. Openly. Then he admitted he fantasized about sleeping with her, in detail to his buddy. About how he wanted to make her scream his name. Etc. I'm frustrated this little bit if info never reaches the heroine because for me. That's the deal breaker when all is said and done. He had those thoughts before his gf even had her suspicions. His feelings were inappropriate and he never thought to remove himself from the temptation out of respect for his gf. Again, not the kind of thoughts you usually have when you're in love and definitely not professional thoughts to have about a girl your training. When she showed up at his apartment to fuck him and he turned her away - That definitely should have been the end of their working relationship. Period. Full stop. But no, it continued with all the angst little play fights and sexual tension. All the while gaslighting his gf about her insecurities and fears when she catches on. Making her feel crazy for not trusting him.
He never once confided to his gf she had made a move on him, despite expecting full transparency on her end when it came to her interactions with other men.
And when he finally does kiss the other woman - after a particularly bad night of gaslighting his girlfriend and getting himself shitfaced. (because how dare she not trust him right? ) No one is shocked. It's the entirely avoidable ending to the stupid game he has been playing since day one.
I'm the aftermath the pour heroine pours on and on about how she blames herself and her insecurities for basically driving him away. When - in reality - everything she felt was valid and she was NOT the problem .
That brings us to the 70% point of the book.
That's not a lot of space left to make amends .
So the grovel is expectedly short, and her forgiveness is quick. None of the above really gets addressed or resolved.

So I was really disappointed with this book so let me get this straight ,she has trust issues because her ex boyfriend cheated on her so she takes a while to trust Levi and finally let him in and what does he do ? He cheats on her with the girl he’s training and tells her she has nothing to worry about basically gaslighting her ?even if Paige was feeling insecure with all the pictures and her running away and everything he still cheats on her with Katie and then he breaks up with her over the phone and then what he treats her horribly when he finds out she was seeing Ryker oh and she forgives his infidelity come on 🤷🏼♀️I really disliked Levi’s character didn’t find him redeemable and in this book made Paige look like someone weak with no spine I wish I could get my time back and sleep that I lost over reading this book 😒 I was almost rooting for Ryker in the end 🤷🏼♀️
TC Matson has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Book 2 in The Fighter Series does not disappoint. Levi and Paige are hitting a rocky place in their relationship where insecurities take over Paige's mind. With her best friend Holly by her side and her brother Blaine Paige eventually realizes she needs to let the past go. With Levi being gone to train another fighter and incriminating reports of him it is not easy for Paige to look past. When a premonition becomes reality Paige is left heartbroken. Can their love survive? This is truly a great series. I'm just glued to the pages. The characters are well developed and the story is not all over the place. Definitely a must read.
Holy moly!! I thought book one kept me on my toes, but this one gave me whiplash, heartache and had me shouting at my kindle!! All in all, I loved every bloody minute!! Unexpected kicks off where Blindsided finished *my heart sighed.....but I suspected things wouldn't stay the same. I mean, this couple have chemistry, like crazy chemistry and fire and then Paige's insecurities that linger still? It was not going to be plain sailing for these two and when THAT happened my heart splintered a little. I don't want to say much more because I am afraid of giving spoilers! I loved this book, can't wait to catch up with more in this series!
This book blew me away! I'm so seriously addicted to this series. I love Levi even more. A brutally hot, professional fighter, who oozes arrogance...yet he's totally under his girl's thumb. Fantasies just don't get better than him. I'm happy to say I now like Paige way more than I had in the previous book. She's actually very down to earth, and struggles hard to keep her independence. She has a wicked sharp tongue and demands respect. I admire a leading lady who makes no apologies for having dignity and integrity. Together they are so combustible! I can't wait to start the next book.
This book seemed to drag out. I'm not sure why Levi & Paige needed two books. The little bit that was added could have been added in the first book.
I didn't like Paige in the first book, and my feelings never changed for her. Her character was was either insecure or confident. It just didn't make sense. I'm glad her & Levi got back together, but she really made me not like this story as much as I wanted to.
Levi the Leveler finally get's his woman, but it comes with a price, loyalty. Paige finally gives in to Levi's constant romantic gestures, but it comes with a price, trust. Can Paige and Levi find the common ground in their new relationship or will Paige insecurities put everything on hold? Something happens and its UnExpected.
This fighter story of Levi and Paige had me flipping the pages. Their tumultuous relationship had me simultaneously crying and screaming at their situation(s) that they put themselves in. I loved the dual point of views (especially Levi's) and I really enjoyed the secondary characters. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
I was really looking forward to reading this book and continuing paige and levi's story but I was really disappointed. I just felt this book although continuing on from book one was just more of the same and found both paige and levi to become to annoying. The book was just a little too samey samey and at times just a little too predictable.
