Monsters exist. Yep, it’s okay. I’ll give you a minute.

Better?

Awesome. Now let’s talk about a particular government agency with a global and interdimensional reach that combats those monsters. Yes, sir. If it bites, claws, sucks, shrieks, flies, haunts, or curses - you call us. Okay, you don’t actually call us, but you get my point.

My name is Skip Conway and I’ve recently been reinstated by that particular agency after an 18 month hiatus. Why? I’m afraid we can’t share those details right now.

Who are we? We are Supernatural Paranormal Otherworldly Operatives. Better known as S.P.O.O.k.

P.S. Wondering what the “k” stands for? You’ll have to read to find out

P.P.S This book contains Volumes Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie.

Your pal,
Scipio “Skip” Conway

Great action and horror story

This is not only a great horror book but a great science fiction, adventure, suspense, action, and fantasy book. Lots of stuff I like in one book one packaged just right.

Not Sure

Maybe a 3? What I do know is character development was a bit lacking. Really didn't know much about anyone, and found myself 'wanting' to like the MCs. Thought characters would be developed along way and NO. Besides, they were the good guys! And the bad guys were evil, no brainer, right?

But for any book to work, as 'entertainment', you want to feel, relate, empathize w MCs and other than me wanting to like them, just nothing there for me to grab ahold of. Just calling and showing some super hero stuff w MCs ain't good enough.

Lots of action throughout but I thought plot could have been flushed out more. Action with loose plot kinda didn't work for me. Evil for the sake of evil with cliche purpose, ? Read the 'Monster, Inc' books, a few, and if you compare and this genre is your cup of tea, then you'll see what I mean.

BTW, taping magazines together is the NOW, cool, 'professional' thing. A long time ago and far away, infantry types were taught load sequence -- you knew where your first 5 reloads were coming from, standing to prone. I know, very unprofessional, especially w today's super soldiers. But, 2 mags affects weapon balance and weight, cumbersome , bottom mag picks up dirt and other stuff(which was big no-no w rifle that barely worked), screws up shooter profile. Although unprofessional, some tried doing this taped thing and were discouraged or learned hard way. Go prone w 20 rnd mag, then do it w 2 30's taped. Why they did 30 the way they did stumps me. Oh, and under fire, any position, reload w taped vs right there mag. See who's faster.

Overall, throwing super hero soldiers w author using some reasonable military acumen, knowledge against pure evil(obviously evil by some of their actions) with lots of action is what this is about. If that's you're thing, this will work for you. And, don't worry, this is politically correct story -- MCs were a white guy, a Muslim, a Hispanic and a female. I think we're missing something here?
