My guess is that Ray Comfort is a Jew with Christian doctrine, and so his understanding on Law seems to come from a Christain perspective slightly more than a Jewish one. However, I thoroughly enjoyed his insights on Law as related to evangelism, especially his research/quotes from the famous historical evangelists/teachers - Spurgeon, Finney, Whitefield, Pink, Edwards, CS Lewis, Tozer, etc. who agreed that the Law MUST be used in conversation with sinners. He emphasizes, as did others historically, that until the sting of sin and eternal damnation is felt - and felt as sin against God and not just man - then the grace message is inappropriate to bring forth. So not only is the love message in itself incomplete, but it's secondary to the message of the wrath of God in chronological order to how we need to experience God and His Word. May we each see the reality of our own humanity, and potential for sin to fall away from Him and into eternal damnation, in order to prevent an arrogant undertone when discussing Law/sin/hell with unbelievers.

This book by evangelist Ray Comfort has an important message for the Church today. In a day and age of seeker sensitive churches and the Emergent Church movement, this two hundred twenty page book does a good job in warning the need for biblical evangelism. Revival’s Golden Key is simple to read yet deep in its impact if the Church at large were to seriously follow what Mr. Comfort has to say.

For those who are cautious of revival fever and the all too often emotion driven conversion that is coined ‘revival meetings’, do not let the title fool you. This book is not preaching health/wealth nor is it about the happiness gospel. Rather, it concerns about how to truly evangelize to the unsaved with the correct Gospel where sinners can be made righteous in the sight of God through Jesus Christ. The book argues and provides insight from the Scripture that the key to preaching the gospel effectively and biblically is to use the law to convict the sinner’s conscience of their guilt in the sight of God.

The book gives startling statistics of how modern and unbiblical forms of evangelism today have resulted in many false conversions. The root of the problem is identified as the lack of using God’s Laws to convict and convince the sinner’s need for a Savior. There are many illustrations from the book that would make the readers think, which would be useful as analogies to persuade other Christians as well. Moreover, readers will also appreciate Ray Comfort’s humor and antidote throughout the book yet soberly accept the serious message and the biblical method of evangelism taught in this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and message. I’ve often thought they don’t preach and deliver a a message that can make a difference in church anymore. You definitely have to find the right church home and understand we are all called to win souls to Christ.

I purchased and read this book after seeing Mr. Comfort preach at a chapel service in college. The book is very practical and easy to implement. Every Christian who takes sharing their faith seriously would do well to have the information of this book in their tackle box.

This title is misleading and was filed in our church library under End Times. It is simply an evangelist book using the Law of God as a testimony of our need for God.
