Darcy Harbinger sees dead people... before they actually die. Art school grad student Darcy has premonitions of other people’s deaths, but when she tries to warn these walking doomed - or goners, as she calls them - the news doesn’t go over too well. She’s getting a reputation on campus as a witch, a psychic, and a freak. Are Darcy’s powers of paranormal prediction a gift... or a curse?

Dead girl walking. A mirror phobia. A murder suspect. In DARK PERCEPTION, when Darcy’s intuition interferes with her painting, she winds up with a gory portrait of a doomed classmate. The girl is livid about her bloody portrayal on canvas - and she’s freaked out by Darcy’s creepy warnings. Despite Darcy’s intention to save the goner girl before it’s too late, she suddenly becomes the number-one suspect in a murder case.

As the evidence against her piles up, so do the corpses. Just one step ahead of the cops, Darcy must investigate and clear her name before she lands behind bars. Meanwhile, a diabolical and clever serial killer gets closer and closer...

Will Darcy find the real killer before she becomes the next victim?

Amazing!! Loved every second of this exciting new page turner. Darcy has a very special gift that can also be a curse. She sees how people will die very close to the actual event. When her fellow classmates start dying she's determined to do everything in her power to find the killer....while trying not to become the next victim. I didn't see that ending coming!!

(I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review)

A fun supernatural mystery

Darcy Harbinger, a protagonist who is easy to relate to, finds herself embroiled in a murder mystery. This was fun in spite of Darcy tripping over red herrings.

I was lucky enough to win an ARC of this book. I really liked it. It was one of those books that I didn't want to set down. Paranormal story with a little horror. Now waiting patiently for the next one.

Nice plot

A good read. Possibly a bit more blood etc then I am used to but a good well conceived plot. Although the more I read the more the culprit became obvious. Good characters but the main character should get better the more we learn about her.
She's always been able to see how somebody dies but the closer they come to the time of death the more pronounced it is. This has kept her isolated from getting close to others and her warning to her fellow student has been a bust. Now she's considered even more of a freak. The death of two students, one after another has everyone jittery. The more she finds out the more she is determined to find the killer as most of the students in her class have now turned against her. Will she find the killer or will the killer make her their next victim? Will she find out why?

Not to brag, but I met Darcy Harbinger two years before her release. By sheer luck, Anne Marie picked me to beta read a chapter of what is now Dark Perception. I fell in love with the story instantly and have followed Ms. Stoddard's progress ever since. She has a knack for bringing humor into even the darkest situations.
The characters in Darcy's life are so richly developed, you want them to succeed--or fail (I'm looking at you two, Jeremy and Tyra!). If Darcy Harbinger's name is any indication, she can see dead people. The catch is... they're not dead yet. She has the chance to save them, but only if they stop calling her a freak long enough to listen! Her best friend Charlie and Grandma Wren provide emotional support as Darcy's first big criminal case unravels. She puts her life on the line and you'll wish you could help her (or at least bring her a cup of coffee).
So as you dive into Dark Perception and allow Darcy's world to twist around you, consider yourself lucky. I may have met her first but Darcy's world has been a two-year, one-chapter-at-a-time journey for me. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.

i met the author and heard abot this book at the Decatur book festival. its a fun read. im not sure why but i thought it would be darker than it is. the supernatural "gift" involved is unique. the mystery part is a bit predictable but still fun.
