From New York Times Bestselling author Tracy Wolff and International Bestselling author Katie Graykowski comes a sexy tale of love, laughter and lingerie …
Lyric Wright is an off-beat astrophysicist whose life is falling apart around her. After losing her fiancé to a hula dancing astrologer and losing her dress to an ill-fated leap of faith, she’s sure there’s nowhere for her life to go but up. At least until she sits down on a trans-Pacific flight next to the one man she never wanted to see again—the boy she’d lost her heart and her virginity too back before she’d learned that friendship and football don’t equal true love.
Broken down quarterback Heath Montgomery is on a plane ride to nowhere. Dodging the phone call he’s certain will end his professional football career for good, he might be Texas bound, but he knows there’s nowhere for him to go but down. But that’s before his childhood best friend and confidante plops back into his life wearing nothing but duct tape and a bad attitude. Determined not to lose her again (especially since he isn’t sure why he lost her the first time) and desperate to outrun his own shadowy future, Heath sets out to take Lyric on the ride of her life. Too bad she only dates men who actually know what her butterfly nebula is … and can find it without the help of a star chart.
Add in one passive-aggressive flight attendant with delusions of couture, a cherry red car with a crush on Neil Diamond, an over-protective sister with a black belt in Krav Maga, two parents determined to marry their spinster daughter off to the hometown hero no matter the cost, and a whole lot of lingerie popping up in all the right places at all the wrong times and you’ve got an unforgettable love story that fans of Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Rachel Gibson won’t want to miss!

This book pissed me off in a very personal way that going into would open a can of worms I'm not interested in getting into on GR. I've always loved Tracy Wolff's books and I'm hoping my issues with this particular novel were because of the other author with whom she collaborated.
SG Ladies, I've still got you covered. My problems with this book had nothing to do with the Deets below so don't let my issues stop you from reading it. My rating is, as always, personal and my opinion...I'm sure many will differ strongly with me on this rating.
Safety: This is a bit fucked up. H was BFF's with the h when they were growing up. But he was in love with her IDENTICAL TWIN...who didn't feel the same, cuz obvs...her sister was in love with him. But low and behold, the h was the one he fucked when they were teens and he thought she was her sister. Let that sink in. They got drunk at 17, he took her virginity, and he thought it was her sister. Both girls are furious and cut him out of their lives. 12 years later the H/h reconnect and he still thinks he did the sister. Many Rom-Com chapters later and he figures it out after the H/h have been intimate multiple times. H finally says: “I was a mixed-up hormonal kid. You were the one … always the one, only I had you confused with Harmony. She was always the bright, shining star, and you were in the background. I should have noticed that sooner.”
No OW/OM drama through 84% where I DNF'd.
PS - Who the fuck names their kids Lyric and Harmony and have absolutely no fucking connection to the music industry...or music in general???

4 "...the same stardust." Stars
I had so much fun reading Lyric and Lingerie. Coming off a couple heavier stories this light, rom-com, contemporary romance really entertained me. I laughed and swooned alike for a really great reading experience. Without ever diving deeply into heaviness or angst the story, told in the 3rd person POV, reads quite fast and easy.
Hero and heroine, Heath and Lyric, are two seriously funny people. They're full of puns, sharp wit, and so openly forthcoming truly endearing themselves to readers. After not seeing each other for twelve years the two randomly end up on the same airplane after a seriously absurd but laughable crisis-upon-crisis Lyric is in the midst of having. Their antics are zany, goofy, and wild as the story breaches over the top territory but never falling over the edge because you quickly realize how over the top just fits these characters so perfectly. The genuine honesty of each character coupled with the writing makes it refreshing and fun rather than ridiculous. The hero is hot, charming, smart and although he provides a couple of cheesy moments he's so sweet and lovable you'll easily forgive him. His quick reminders of why he adored Lyric so many years ago resurface and enable you to share in the adoration. And Lyric. Quirky, goofy, sweet, do-anything-for-anybody Lyric gives you so much to admire. With their references to football and astrophysics proving they're completely different yet showing us how well match they are because they understand each other, these two give good romance. The secondary characters help provide the arcs for the plot and leave you wanting some stories from them as well.
Fun. That's the bottom line. As romance readers we often delve into darker, angsty themes. For me personally, it's entertaining and a nice change to find something that just makes you laugh and smile. Tracy Wolff and Katie Graykowski through their lovely, romantic, tandem writing (you couldn't tell it was two different writers) charm romance readers quickly and painlessly through Heath and Lyric's outrageously adorable love story in Lyric and Lingerie. A must read for rom-com lovers.

Well this was something else... I was really in the mood for a light and fun read and this was it. With moments a little bit unrealistic but great! This is the fun story of Heath and Lyric. Best friends when they were children. Heath was in love with his best friends twin sister Harmony. Twelve years ago he lost his girlfriend and his best friend and he never new why. Years later fate brings Heath and Lyric on seets in the same airplane. Heath with his sports carreer shattered and Lyric litterally taped together on the way to her father who had heart problems. Heath has missed Lyric all those years and doesn’t want to loose his Lyric again. He even plans a fake engagement. But how can he make Lyric see that this is real and NOT fake. Can he get her to trust him? Can you build a relationship built on little white lies?
I’m giving this fun read 4 stars. I would love it if the next book was Harmony’s story because she’s really a tough, wonderful woman... What I missed is an Epilogue. Maybe we’ll read more about them in the next book...
Lyric and Lingerie, co-written by Bestselling author Tracy Wolff and International Bestselling author Katie Graykowski, is the first book in their Fort Worth Wranglers series. What A Fun Read! A love story with quirky characters and many laugh out loud moments. Outlandish Lyric Wright, a "Double D" astrophysicist and Heath "Deuces" Montgomery, an 8-pack NFL quarterback were best friends when they were young. A misunderstanding leading to heartache resulted in 12 years of separation. They reconnect, by accident, on the same flight and although initially awkward with each other the sparks quickly ignite. A well-written story full of romance, passion, laughter and zany situations. I am looking forward to the next book in the Fort Worth Wranglers series.
3.5 stars Lyric is trying to get on an emergency flight back to see her dad, who’s just had a heart attack. A running dive later, she ends up wrapped in duct tape and seeing her first love Heath (who didn’t know she existed that way). See, Heath slept with Lyric twelve years ago. Except he thought he was sleeping with her twin sister. Ouch. Mental trauma, hijinks, and eventual romance ensues. -Duct tape dresses are a sure hook, who knew? Now, my TBR list (aka the Mountain because holy jeezus) is insane, but I’m a book hoarder by nature so I figured, hey why not grab this funny book and just skim it? Before I knew it, with that opening chapter I was sucked in, so I have to give props for an engaging and funny as hell setup for this romance.
-Definitely a screwball comedy with heart: Physical humor. It’s all in the eye of the beholder, but I think it’s a very difficult thing to make work in a romance. Too often it’s easy to dive straight into slapstick insanity and then it ceases to be fun, and it’s just exhausting. I think Ms. Wolff and Ms. Graykowski managed to pull off a decent balancing act between the funny and the love stuff.
-Easy flow and good chemistry between Lyric and Heath. I think the authors did establish Heath and Lyric’s prior relationship well and really delivered on the little moments that made their childhood friendship seem genuine. I think the characters had good humorous banter and the supporting players all had their little scenes that made me smile.
-Huge obstacle that I’m not sure was overcome. Heath and Lyric are emotional morons at one time or another. Heath’s blunder is huge but that’s an obstacle I expected going in. Lyric was in denial herself and this lead to some completely selfish moments by both. Most of those I could get past, though the way the major one (um, oops I thought that was your twin) was kind of resolved by the end as an “it’s in the past, let’s move on shall we?” felt shortchanged. I know Heath had an inner monologue about his regrets, etc. except that doesn't mean as much to me as when the characters actually share those feelings with each other. It felt more show vs tell, and that's not my bag. That kind of blunder deserved a bit more page count with fallout.
-Continuity issues and simple research issues: I’ve read a fair share of grammatical errors and typos in ARCs, so I can usually gloss over those. However, it’s harder to ignore general continuity errors that pull you out of the moment. For example, Heath starts off at about 240 pounds then gains 20 pounds by the end of the book. Also, a new offensive coordinator (even a “famous” one) to be making that much money would be unlikely.
[3.5 stars] Enjoyable funny read with writing that has potential for more, once the rough spots are ironed out.
The story began with a bang. The plane ride was hilarious. Heath, famous NFL, now injured, quarterback is trying to dodge his fans and questions he doesn't want to answer. Lyric is embarrassed because she is going commando under a dress she just ripped to shreds trying to literally jump on the plane. So her dress is hanging on by a prayer and some misplaced duct tape. Next, we discover that Heath, Lyric and her twin sister, Harmony, have history together. Then the story just slows way down. Very disappointing.
Lyric & Lingerie is a light, fun read featuring a stubborn woman and a broken man. Lyric is highly intelligent, she's a quirky astrophysicist who's more comfortable on her own than in groups. Having recently lost her fiancee she receives a call about her father and rushes from a party to the airport which is where the misadventures of Lyric begin!! Heath is hiding out. He's on a flight home but is hiding his identity. He's not ready for the questions nor to autograph yet another set of boobs. He's about to get a shock.
Heath & Lyric have a history. Only thing is there's a major part of that history he doesn't know about.
Being reunited under the worst of circumstances with the man who destroyed your world isn't exactly at the top of Lyric's list but that's what she gets. Finding out Heath really doesn't recall the truth of what happened years ago pisses her off, but the fact that he's broken calls to her inner care taker and they end up taking care of each other. Once their back on the ground fate seems to push them together. One sick father + the love of your life from the past + one faked engagement changes both of their lives forever.
This was my first book by the authors and I adored it. Lyric & Lingerie is well written, the story flows well and while it has a romantic story it's full of snark and fun. 4 stars.
After staying up way to0 late reading this one my cheeks were literally hurting from smiling and laughing so hard. When you're looking for a lighthearted fun read to lighten your mood this is the perfect book! Lyric and Heath are wonderful together. Great banter and quick wit is their way to communicate but both are brutally honest and true. She's the brain and he's the brawn and together they are one hilarious couple. Add in the crazy flight attendant Tre, Lyric's gun toting twin Harmony, and Cherry Cherry (you'll just have to read the book to get this one) and you have one unforgettable book. Even with all the zaniness and laughter, in the end you have a wonderful romance as well.
This is different from any other Tracy Wolff book but it's one you don't want to miss! I highly recommend it!
OMG I loved this book. Right from the very beginning where Lyric is desperately trying to get through airport security screening. I loved Tre the male flight attendant with attitude, and his interactions with all the passengers. Heath is a lot to handle and I had a little trouble believing that 15 years ago he couldn't tell his best friend apart from her twin sister who he was dating. Apart from that he is an interesting character who goes all out. I have to say that Cherry Cherry was one of my favourite parts of this story and had me laughing out loud. Lyric is still in love with Heath and wants to pretend that she doesn't have feelings for him but is failing and falling more in love with him everyday. You can see the heartbreak coming. Harmony is a whole other story and I just know that her story will be an interesting next book.
This book had me laughing all the way through, especially the conversation about STDs. Lyric and Heath has been best friends growing up until something happened when Lyric was 17. Heath never knew what happened that drove a wedge between them. Fate brings them back together on a plane ride from Hawaii to Texas. Lyric is going back because her father is in the hospital while Heath is going back to contemplate his future after football. By the end of the plane ride, Heath is convinced that Lyric is the one for him. He just has to convince Lyric. Only problem is, Lyric thinks everything is fake, regardless of what he tells her. She can't understand how someone like him could truly be interested in someone like her. There were a couple of touching moments in the book but I really enjoyed reading it.
Lyric & Lingerie is the first book by either of the authors that I've read and I’m so happy to have found my way to them. Why? Well simply put, it’s an amazingly FUN read! At times it’s fabulously silly and I felt positively giddy. The main characters, Lyric and Heath are very authentic feeling, so much so that I felt an immediate affinity for them.
Due to some unfortunate circumstances and crazy good coincidence, Lyric and Heath end up back in each others worlds after a decade of being incommunicado. The reasons for the fall out stems from a pretty epic mistake that Heath makes when they are 18 and both Lyric and her twin sister Harmony shut him out. He’s clueless, but he knows that years with Lyric in his life left a great big hole in that soft heart of his. Following some hilarious first couple of chapters and as they venture to their hometown together in the 1980’s “Sweet Cherry Cherry” cadillac, they rediscover their connection. So while their friendship was interrupted, Heath now finds himself feeling oddly protective and somewhat responsible for Lyrics happiness. He takes this very seriously *wink wink* and he almost manages to convince Lyric that this is more than a friendly attempt to be back in her good graces.
Heath is the perfect balance of sweet and sexy hero and Lyric is a smart (astronomically) and sassy heroine. There’s a little angst in an unrequited love aspect (which is my very most favorite sub- genre) and boy oh boy, did that tug at my heartstrings. It was easy to see why Lyric has her doubts about Heath and his feelings for her. While he seems genuine, the situation is one where he manages to muck things up a bit.
Lyric & Lingerie is one of those reads that will have you giggling and simultaneously sighing in contentment. The story line is well paced and Lyric and Heath find themselves surrounded by a crazy cast, including her family, a few nurses, a wedding planner, and a crew from ESPN. I found that I didn't want to put it down, but I also knew that picking it back up gave me something to look forward to and that made me oh so happy. L&L is a 4.5 star read in the romantic comedy genre and has firmly placed Tracy Wolff and Katie Graykowski on my list of go to authors!

REVIEW: 4.25 stars--LYRIC AND LINGERIE is the first instalment in the contemporary adult THE FORT WORTH WRANGLERS romance series co-authored by Tracy Wolff and Katie Graykowsi. This is astrophysicist Lyric Wright, and professional football player Heath Montgomery’s story line.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Lyric and Heath) LYRIC AND LINGERIE is a romantic comedy that follows the rekindling relationship/ second chance (of sorts) for former childhood friends astrophysicist Lyric Wright, and quarterback for the Fort Worth Wranglers professional football team Heath Montgomery. While at a convention in Hawaii, Lyric gets a call to return home following the news of her father’s heart attack but a wardrobe malfunction finds our heroine wrapped in ‘duct tape’ lest her significant ‘assets’ be exposed to the entire plane. Enter Heath Montgomery, Lyric’s seatmate and the man she has detested for a number of years. What ensues is a comedy of errors, a humorous seduction of Lyric Wright by the man who has loved her for most of his life.
Heath Montgomery has suffered a career-ending injury and finds himself contemplating a future without the sport that he has loved but rekindling his friendship with Lyric puts a different spin on his life when to appease her father’s anxiety Heath announces his plans to marry his scientist daughter much to the annoyance of Lyric herself. Their ‘fake engagement’ becomes real when Heath realizes that the woman he pretends to love is the one with whom he wants to spend the rest of his life-now only if he can convince Lyric of the same.
Lyric is a scientist with a brain for numbers, and a body that doesn’t stop but Heath Montgomery broke her heart years before, and in the ensuing time she has never forgiven her best friend for destroying her soul. Her last relationship ended when her fiance of 2 years announced that ‘Mercury was in retrograde, and it was time for a new direction’-with a hula dancing astrologer.
We are introduced to Lyric’s parents, and to Lyric’s sister Harmony-a rough around the edges woman who takes no crap from Heath Montgomery and sees right through Lyric and Heath’s deception. After Lyric’s wardrobe malfunction aboard the return flight home, Tre the steward is a snarky breath of fresh air as he continues to command the ‘runway’ with his over the top attitude and designer ‘Luminous Steel’ duct tape invention.
LYRIC AND LINGERIE is a lighthearted, fun read; an entertaining and enjoyable story about two people lost and looking for a direction in life. The premise is amusing and delightful with ‘laugh out loud’ moments; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are colorful, animated and energetic. Give yourself a break from the over the top angst-ridden romances and pick up a copy of LYRIC AND LINGERIE.
I loved this book, it was funny and flirty. Lyric is a twin and she is the square in a family of circles but she has always been herself and Heath has always loved her for herself. She was his best friend until about ten years ago with the twin he was in love with, Harmony, broke his heart; then they both stopped talking to him and he has no idea why, just that Harmony broke his heart and in one night he lost both his best friend and the girl who had his heart. Now Lyric is literally jumping into the plane and ripping her dress trying to get home to see her dad who has just had a heart attack. In the process ripping the only article of clothing she has with her, her little black dress. The funniest flight attendant every decides to help her with some duct tape so she is literally duct taped together. As she is sitting she finds out that Heath Montgomery is her seat mate and she cannot believe he of all the people is sitting beside her.
When he finds out that her father is in the hospital and that he has had a heart attack he decides to help her get there. He was also the father figure in Heath's life. But their journey to the hospital is full of interesting events and it gives them both time to remember what they liked about each other and the fact that they missed each other. While he still doesn't know what happened and she still loves him with all her heart, they both laugh and have a good time in what is a very bad time in both of their lives. He has just found out he will no longer be able to play football ever again.
A fake engagement later and learning to own who she is, Lyric is confused and wondering how this happened. Heath is loving being with her again and wondering if he fell in love with the wrong sister all those years ago. He is hoping that this fake engagement becomes real.
You have to read this! It's a fantastic, fun and flirty read.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Lyric and Lingerie is filled with humor, sex and shows the creative imagination of Tracy Wolff and Katie Graykowski. Lyric, the heroine, has a twin sister named Harmony. In a twist of irony Harmony can do no wrong in her mother's eyes. She's the cheerleader, social butterfly and in general the popular girl when they are in high school. Lyric on the other hand is the bookworm and quiet one, the one that her mother belittles every chance she gets. Both girls grew up with the hero, Heath. Heath is the popular football player who goes onto the pros. Before he leaves his hometown he does something that upsets the twins so much that neither one will speak to him. Although he still thinks of Lyric and Harmony he never understood what he did wrong. Each twin goes on to make successful careers but their careers are as different as their personalities. Lyric lives far away from home but has to make an emergency trip home when her daddy, whom she adores, has a severe heart attack. This is where the book begins. On her way to the airport everything possible goes wrong and when she finally boards the plane things just get worse. It's also when the hilarity begins! Sitting next to Lyric is the one man she hoped to never see again....Heath...As the book continues the more absurd things become between Lyric and Heath. The authors take you on a journey that is comical but also filled with drama and renewed heartbreak. Oh, and a lot of sex! I truly enjoyed this book and recommend it to all romance readers.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Thanks to the authors for an ARC of this book. I loved this book!!! This story has so many laugh out loud moments in it and the characters are just so easy to love. My favorite part of this book is the whole airplane and airport scenes, HYSTERICAL!!!! This just sets up the rest of the book to have some serious parts but enough comic relief that you just can't put the book down. Let me just say you will be burning the midnight oil to finish this page turner! Every time I hear a Neil Diamond song I will think of Cherry Cherry!! HAHA Great book, great writing and the characters are just wonderful and complex.
Kitty's 5 star review I really wasn’t sure what to expect with Lyric and Lingerie. Tracy Wolff and Katie Graykowski are both “new to me” authors and, I have to admit, I was completely stunned and thrilled that I was asked to review this book. It’s laugh-out-loud funny, it was a wild story and it was definitely worth the read.
I really had no idea who was funnier … Lyric or Heath. They each had their own quirks and way of dealing with life. She calmed her nerves with prime numbers. He calmed her nerves with pulling the prime numbers up on his phone. Heath did everything in his power to get Lyric to believe that she was the one to finally land THE Heath Montgomery. Lyric did everything in her power to just laugh it off – what would a football star want with a clumsy astrophysicist? It takes a hell of a lot, a life changing phone call, a night in a tree house for Heath to finally face the feelings he’s had since he was 5 years old. Now, he needs to find a real way to show Lyric that he can be trusted again to hold her heart.
Too much happened to truly review this book, to give it a synopsis that is fitting. I don’t even know where to start with everything that had me losing it while I was sitting in my recliner. Duct tape, Tre, Cherry-Cherry, volcanos, Gregor … you have to read this book to truly understand and appreciate everything that happened. I seriously wanted to go back and read it again just to make sure I didn’t miss anything that had me smiling and giggling.
Honestly, if Lyric and Lingerie is the kind of book that Tracy Wolff and Katie Graykowski write, I will always read them. This story was cute, funny, original and fantastic. I can’t say there was much romance in it because Heath just had his own way about getting Lyric’s attention, and it wasn’t romance. It took them a while to get there but, when they finally hit the sheets, it was electric.
So, if you can’t tell, I loved this book. I love the storyline. I loved all the characters. And, I loved that it had a happily-ever-after that totally fit this story.
Lyric Wright is an off-beat astrophysicist whose life is falling apart around her. After losing her scientist fiancé to a hula dancing astrologer and losing her dress to an ill-fated leap of faith, she’s sure there’s nowhere for her life to go but up. At least until she sits down on a trans-Pacific flight next to the one man she never wanted to see again—the boy she’d lost her heart and her virginity too back before she’d learned that friendship and football don’t equal true love.
Heath Montgomery is a pro football player at the end of his career. A knee injury last season has left him facing the reality that he may never play again and he’s busy dodging phone calls from his agent and the team owner in the hope that he can put off the painful truth for as long as possible. When a scantily clad Lyric falls into the seat next to him he’s determined to get a second chance with his childhood love and to try and figure out what he did wrong fifteen years ago.
Ignoring the cringeworthy title this is a really fun story. The characters are solid with more to them than your average romance novel. As well as Lyric and Heath there is a fun supporting cast in the flamboyant and acerbic flight attendant Tre and the pot infused Cherry Cherry - the car with a personality of its own. I love the idea of a car being obsessed with Neil Diamond – the scenes with the car had me laughing out loud. Honestly the only thing that bugged me about the whole book is that Heath goes on about 9 being his lucky number and his jersey number but the cover photo shows a shirt with a 32 on it!
This is the first in a new series (Fort Worth Wranglers) from these two authors so it’s a really promising beginning.
Supplied by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Insanely funny moments. I mean, this is stuff that would happen to me if I was in those circumstances. Possibly possessed car obsessed with Neil Diamond.... (I may secretly want this car because it's weird. lol) Second chance romance. Fake relationships. An amazing flight attendant that you will love on the spot. A twin sister that doesn't take anyone's crap. So many swoony scenes, you'll fall for Heath. Amazing chemistry between Lyric and Heath. Friendships that become more. And football. Well, there isn't a lot of football. But Heath is a football player, and 'tis the season. Also, a hilarious duct tape dress scene. Seriously, funny. Oh, and it takes place in my home state, so I love reading books that take place here.

I've been a big fan of Tracy Wolff for quite some time, and every time a book comes by way with her name on it I always make sure to grab it. This is the first book I have read from her that was basically a romantic comedy, I don't know if that's because she has a co-author on this one, but either way this book definitely was a bunch of laughs at every turn.
So when the book starts we have Lyric trying to catch a flight back home to Texas from Hawaii after finding out that her father had just had a heart attack. Which is basically how she ends up going through the TSA line in anything but travel wear, think corset, mini-dress, and big huge tall shoes. She almost missed her flight, but manages to get on board thanks to a helpful airport employee, only as she leaps onto the plan, her dress basically comes apart and she ends up basically naked. Enter the world's funniest flight attendant, who promptly makes her a dress out of duct tape. And of course did I mention that the guy she used to be best friends with and in love with is on the flight too.
The stuff in the air plane honestly was really funny, and it was nice to get a POV from both characters. Of course it gets even funnier once these two finally make it off the plane. I mean getting Lyric out of the duct tape dress so she can use the restroom, well that was a seriously hilarious scene.
I liked Lyric a lot, I liked how smart she was, I really do. I love science nerds, they are the best, and I wish her podcast was real because honestly I would totally be listening to that. I did feel pretty bad for her in a couple of spots, I mean her mother seems to be overly critical of her, and that totally did bum me out. I also wish Lyric did have the amount of doubts that she did, but I totally understood why she did.
Heath is a fun character. He was a pretty funny guy, especially for someone who is going through such a big lifetime change. Heath hurt his leg and suddenly he is never going to play professional sports ever again. That has got to be a hard thing to go through. But it seems like having Lyric back in his life gives him the kind of purpose he needed following his bad news. Being around her really starts to give him the calm he needs and shows him what he had been missing all along. So when he comes up with the idea to fake and engagement with Lyric to make her father happy, I have to admit I was excited to see how this was all going to blow up.
I really did like this book, I totally laughed out loud more than once. I think the reason why this book doesn't get a five star from me is because I thought everything happened just a little too quick for me, it definitely wasn't insta-love, but in some spots it felt like it was. Other then that though I really did enjoy it.
If Goodreads had half ratings I would have gave it two and a half but oh well.
This is one of those “have I been reading the same book as everybody else?” books for me. Apart from maybe 3 or 4 negative reviews, the reviews for this book were pre-dominantly five star) and I know every book comes across differently to each reader and that not eveybody likes every book, popular or not. But Lyric and Lingerie had some glaring problematic aspects that I’m amazed so many people could ignore. There are problematic views on (and jokes about) disability but the book also calls Travellers, as they prefer to be known (correct me if I’m wrong please), Gypsy/Gypsies in one scene.
Yes it had it’s laugh out loud moments but they were not only overshadowed by what I mentioned above but it the chapters were REALLY long and the pacing became really slow (almost immediately after they arrived in their hometown). To be fair, the slow pacing was probably down to the length of the chapters though.
To top it off, Heath never really apologises for the reason why Lyric stopped talking to him instead saying something along the lines of Harmony and her personality eclipsing Lyric (and Lyric always being the one in the background). A simple one line sentence to the effect of “I’m sorry I should have known it was you.” would have sufficed but no apology was ever given.
It seems as if I the next book in the series is more of the same so I won’t be reading it (even though I really want to see Harmony get her own happy-ever-after)
This story started great and then it took a turn. Not sure if that was because there were two authors, but if so, they should've let whoever started the book end it. I absolutely had a blast reading the airport scene and then the plane ride. The flight attendant was everything. I liked Lyric and Heath and even liked their journey to HEA, even if Lyric didn't know it. But once they got to her family, the book took a turn and not a good one. It wasn't bad, it just was a letdown after the plane, airport, and road trip.
I enjoyed the story, particularly the first couple chapters. It's quite clear from the beginning why Lyric is not interested in pursuing a relationship with Heath so its hard to understand why he can't figure it out (although I know this is important for the plot line) and its also hard to understand why Lyric's father is so crazy about her mother when the author paints her as a vacuous bitch. But overall its a good read and I recommend it.
This was such a fun and delightful storyline and one of my favorite books by this author. The writing was exceptional from the first page and I enjoyed all of the characters and how they were incorporated into this storyline. The romance between the two main characters was written with lots of good emotions and I found myself smiling a lot while reading this story. Definitely a five star rating for this book, it was wonderful.
Laughs from the beginning all the way through. I really appreciate it when there is humor weaved through a good story line. This one had teenage misconceptions, miscommunication and a decade of separation. It gave us time to for the characters to perl back the layers and show us who they really are. Wrapped up in a HEA. Enjoy!
Heath and Lyric are friends since childhood but a misunderstanding (she have a twin sister ) broke her heart. Years later they reunite and the sparks is there. Heath is funny and QB hot, Lyric is smart and beautiful hot. Together they told a great story. I enjoy reading this book and recommended it.
Laugh out loud funny! From Hawaii to Texas, the laughs are non stop. From getting on the plane to the Cherry Cherry car to getting her quarterback. I laughed out loud reading this drawing a look or two. A great read, can't wait for the next book.
