Three wayward souls. Two angels. One inn of mercy. Sarah Rose walked away from fame and fortune at the height of her country music career after the death of her husband twenty-two years ago, but when she begins to feel the desire to create again, one fear is stopping her. Will she face it or return to hiding? Brad Hamilton chased his dream of playing major league baseball to the detriment of everything else, including his family. Deep down, he knows he doesn’t deserve a second shot at love, but when he finds himself drawn to Sarah, can he get past his guilt to pursue her? Megan Cahill has never allowed her wheelchair to stop her from living the life she wants. But as a sophomore in college, financial problems are limiting her options for the immediate future. Will she let her guard down to let people know she needs help? As all three strangers travel on a lonesome Colorado highway at Christmastime, they are forced to take shelter during a snowstorm at Mercy Inn—a place that only a limited number of people can see. Will the two innkeepers, who just happen to be angels, be successful in helping Sarah, Brad, and Megan to face their respective roadblocks and set them on a new course? Or will fear, guilt, and pride win the day? “Mercy Inn” is the first book in “The Mercy Inn” series. If you enjoy character-driven Christian fiction, then this series is for you.
Three people, all in need of shelter from an unexpected snowstorm, end up at the Mercy Inn. They're warmly welcomed by the owners, Ray and Alma, and have no idea that their lonely lives are about to be changed in ways they never expected.
Good character development and dialogue gives you the feeling you are right there with them as you read this clean/Christian Christmas tale. I'm going to add Lee Warren to my list of favorite authors.
This was beautifully written . The scenery . The people . The themes of mercy and protection and inspiration made this a wonderful escape that brought dreams to life again. Thanks !
Mercy Inn is a very good, heart warming novella; I very much enjoyed this book and hope for more from this series. Highly recommend giving this a read.

I love stories about human interaction with angels, like Debbie Macomber's Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy Series. Warren added to my list of newly-loved authors. This book was so good, I couldn't put it down. The innkeepers are a wonderful old couple, who haven't aged since they received their "assignment" in 1947. They continue to help people who find themselves in their inn. This is a wonderful concept, and the Mercy Inn series is sure to become as popular as Macomber's.
Favorite quotes: "The chosen guests could elect to stay in their cabins for the next two days, watching movies, reading, or Skyping with friends if they wanted to, but the human spirit cries out for community. After all, the Father himself is three-in-one."
". . .loving someone is less about a momentarily romantic feeling and more about choosing another person’s needs above your own. And I suspect it’s more about wanting to stick by somebody, maybe even in spite of his or her flaws."
As good or better than Macomber's angel stories - I believe this series is destined to be a colossal hit.
The characters were flawed enough to be relatable, and the story had so many twists and turns, with several main characters that I didn't stop until I finished it.

"Mercy Inn" is the first book in "The Mercy Inn" series. If you enjoy character-driven fiction with a spiritual undercurrent (think: "The Mitford Years" by Jan Karon), then this series is for you.
An unexpected Christmas blizzard traps three strangers in a mysterious inn whose caretakers aren’t what they appear. The (seemingly) chance encounter proves life-changing for the stranded travelers. Can Sarah, a reclusive former country music superstar, move past the pain of her beloved husband’s death . . . and betrayal? Megan, a wheelchair-bound college sophomore, carries internal wounds that far exceed her external ones. If she opens her heart will she find more rejection, or the acceptance she pretends not to need? Brad, an ex-ball player, faces tough choices. Will his past mistakes prevent him from accepting the love in front of him? Trapped together over Christmas, the travelers all must decide to either reclaim their lives, or fall deeper into their self-imposed voids. If you enjoyed Jan Karon’s “Mitford" series, you’ll love Mercy Inn. Note: I’m a huge fan of Lee Warren’s books. This is his first fiction offering, and my favorite so far. I’m eager for the sequel.
What a sweet Christmas story, set in southern Colorado during a snowstorm. Three individuals are stranded at an inn, whose owners love having "stragglers" at Christmas time. One tradition is asking each other a series of compelling questions from a set of cards used from year to year. Of course, they lose electricity and all have to stay in the lodge, deepening friendships and gleaning insights into their own lives. Sometimes you just need to slow down enough to find truth and a more positive way forward.
I read this book awhile ago but I still remember this book and feel a sense of happiness thinking of Mercy Inn. That is how I know it was a great book!!
