*** THIS IS A RERELEASE OF A PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED BOOK ***

Dr. Trisha Norbit is flat on her back in a hospital bed, pinned under a really big New Species male. Though drugged out of his mind, he promises her ecstasy and is determined to deliver—but hospital staff intervenes. 215 is a man Trisha will never forget. But, when she meets him again at Homeland…he doesn’t even remember her!

The nosy new doctor wants to know all about the breeding habits between humans and Species. Slade proposes a hands-on education but she’s not interested in a one-night stand. He can’t offer more because he’s haunted by the memory of a woman he once tried to claim. He’s shocked when he realizes they are one and the same. He’s blown it—she’ll never give him a chance now.

But, when her life is in danger, he’s the only one who can save her. As they flee through the wilderness, their desire ignites and cannot be denied. Hot sex, on the run, has consequences that are even more dangerous and will change their lives forever.

I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books, always have been.

No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.

I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.

Slade snorted. “Women.” “Men.” “Smartass.” “Dumbass.”

When I read a shifter book I expect a fated soul mate kind of love. That bam! your are mine and I knew it the minute we met kinda thing. The I am never going to let you go thing . I got that kind of love in the first book with Fury and was looking forward to some more in this book, but what I got was Slade!

 photo giphy 5_zpscwn2jwjx.gif

“You’re mine, Doc. I’d fight anyone to get you back and I’ll kill any man who touches you.”

Slade:

I didn't like Slade . He annoyed the shit outta me! he was wishy washy, jerky and kind of a chicken in this book . I thought he would get better in the book, but by the time he comes around I already didn't like him and he didn't do anything redeeming to make me soften to him. I didn't hate him he wasn't such a asshole that I couldn't stand him or anything , he was kinda like the little boy in 3rd grade that pulls your hair and flings mud at you because he likes you, and he never grows up! Then at towards the end he just sees the light and loves her, is never letting her go and all is good. I don't think so! He also called her sweet thing all the time making me picture him in my head like this

 photo leon-phelps_zpsxw1dojxg.jpg

This is my impersonation of Slade.
"I love you and I will be with you forever and I will fight anyone to keep you safe and get you back your mine!" " Sike!!!! Ha I was just jokin I'm out bitch see ya. " " Okay wait a minute I think I do want you after all. Yes , yes I do! Your mine again!!!"

“Bend over for me, Trisha. I’m going to fuck you the way I’ve wanted to since I saw you. I’m going to drive so deep into that wet little sheath of yours until you don’t know where I end and you begin. I bet you’re going to be so tight that you fist around my dick and I have to fight to move inside you.”

“I missed you,” he breathed against her skin. “I won’t ever leave you again. Ever, Trisha. I’d rather die than be away from you. I swear to protect you with my life and I won’t mess up again. I learned how much you mean to me.”

Trisha:

 photo 861f1c83fe60800f9e4ab353d43dc65811_zpspkljx9d9.jpg

“Make me forget. Please? I want you.”

Damn I loved Trisha, she totally made this book for me! She made up for what Slade lacked and she is the reason the book got 3.5 stars instead of 2! She was Brave, smart and Sassy. She fought for what she believed in and even in the face of death and rape she was brave and strong. I love that she didn't hold back and just told you what she thought! I don't think I would change a thing about her!

“I’d rather die. Just kill me!” she screamed at him. “You’re a fucking loser. You’re nothing but a fucking asshole rapest.” She hoped he’d snap and kill her. She’d rather die than live through him touching her. “And that’s fucking pathetic by the way. I’m a doctor and I’ve seen a lot of them,” she taunted him. “Pathetic!” she screamed.

“You mean ‘bastard’, don’t you? Go to hell, Slade. Yes, the baby is yours in the biological way. In every other sense the baby is mine and mine alone. Don’t worry though. In the last weeks I’ve learned exactly what to expect from you so stay away from me just the way you have been. I waited a week for you to call or come see me. When you didn’t I was even hopeful for another week. Then you took this job and didn’t even have the decency to tell me you were leaving. You just left. I hate you for that, I really do, and I will never forgive you. You lied to me and you just blew me off. Well, I can do that too. Leave me alone and stop beating up my friends, because they actually care about me.” She took a ragged breath, fighting the urge to cry. “They don’t make me cry. They don’t abandon me or break my heart.”

 photo 10410896_1557776124492019_8854553213671600625_n11_zpsktacwh47.jpg

“I love being inside you.” Trisha turned her head against his chest. “I love you being there. Wow, Slade. Just wow.”

Even with Slade being a immature asshat for a good part of the book. It was still a pretty good read. There wasn't enough romance, but the sex was hott, and the friendships between Trisha, Brass, Moon, and Harley was too cute, and of course there is the baby. I am a sucker for babies!!!!!

Here is my favorite moment in the book:

“Oh God,” she moaned.
His mouth withdrew from her sensitive flesh. “I told you I was going to kiss you.”
“I thought you’d aim for my mouth.”
He tilted his head, regarding her. “Do you want me to stop? I have to admit I don’t want to. I’ve been dying to taste every inch of you. Don’t deny me, sweet thing.”
“Do you want to die? That’s what will happen if you do stop. Please continue.”

Slade at the beginning of the story:

Slade after the accident:

Slade when he lost it:

I had an amazing time with this hot, adventurous and decidedly entertaining story. Slade began as a cocky, sexy deviant but that changed after the accident mostly because he had to protect Trisha!

Trisha was a great heroine, very put-together and absolutely in love with Slade.

The story used the same narrative style as the first one: past-huge thing happening-slow built-up,-semi huge thing happening-great ending.
I was totally fine with it and it was very nicely handled. The writing seemed more tight and the on-going plot thickens significantly.

The main story helped the background plotline to flourish and become sturdier than in Fury, it was also pretty funny on so many occasions and with a few exciting twists and some new very likeable characters.
Oh and i forgot the incredible surprise around the middle that really transform the future of the N.S.O. for good.
All in all, a great story, a unique series and a great example of the pretty incredible writing skills this author has. I recommend it of course!

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- I liked Slade a lot more on the first half of the story towards the end he seemed a little distant.
- Moon, Harley and Brass were exquisite..i gave it 4 stars absolutely for their sake.. no i'm kidding, but they are a great reason to do so.
- I liked Trisha.
- I will read the next book.
- The last chapter is so funny with Valliant and the deer.. I can't even..
- We saw some glimpses of Fury and Ellie too.. AWW!
- The sex was out of this world.
Me having fun, while reading this book!!

As I mentioned in my review of the 1st book in the series https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... , I was a bit apprehensive continuing reading the next book. Fury reminded me a lot of Lora Leigh's Breed Series, but I decided to read the next story and I was, despite the similarities, quite impressed.

I did enjoy Slade's story more than Fury.

- they do a lot of this....geez, these new species guys are totally sexed!!! And of course, totally protective and domineering... photo download2_zpsaf515b4b.jpg
We get to know more about the New Species and the atrocities committed to them, we meet new characters and we get to know more about the ones we met previously and I am kind of getting "lured" into their world.

Loved the banter between Slade & Trisha and between her and the guys guarding her...some hilarious moments and some of the things Smiley & the gang said and did....funny and cute...how they learn new sayings and more about us humans!!

Genetically altered humans!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 🙃🥹☺️🤭🥵

The heroine: Trisha - A child prodigy who graduated high school, college and medical school at a young age, she was working at a hospital when the nationwide news about the existence of the New Species came out. She was working the ER when 215 was brought in with a gunshot wound after the lab he was held at was breached by the law and the human/animal experiments were liberated.

The Hero(es): Slade (a.k.a. 215) - After surgery for a gunshot wound, he comes to in a hospital with a beautiful redhead bending over him. He immediately turns the tables and loves the way she feels underneath him. She is in his dreams after that encounter.

The Story: After their initial meeting, Trisha and Slade don’t see each other for many months until she gets a job working for the New Species at homeland, the compound that was originally built for the military but is now the home of the New Species. Trisha knows Slade, who is now working for the NSO as an enforcer, is the same man she can’t stop thinking about, but she is disappointed that he doesn’t seem to remember her even though she has since gone back to her natural honey colored hair.

Slade is now a huge flirt who often makes racy comments to Trisha and hits on her often. She is disconcerted by the fact that he not only doesn’t recognize her, but only seems to want a quick fling with her and is not seeing the connection they had at their initial meeting when he looked into her eyes and called her beautiful.

After it all comes out that she had met him before, Slade now knows that Trisha is the woman he can’t seem to forget but thinks he blew his chances with her since she now seems to hate him. Though as the enforcer assigned guard to the ‘human’ part of the compound, they are thrown together daily.

Like with the first book, Fury, this one is narrated by Vanessa Chambers, who does a great job. I like the fact that she does so many different voices for the different characters. The book is told in dual POV, though mostly in Trisha’s, and I wish it was dual narration.

I liked the fact that this took place before, during and after the events in Fury and I really liked the characters. Slade is arrogant, cocky and a smart aleck, but he is also always in a great mood and is a tall dominant male with good looks to go with his attitude. Trisha is intelligent and a bit of a social misfit since she was a child prodigy focused on her studies and never had any real friends.

The main plot that ran from Fury into this book has to deal with the many bigots that feel all the New Species should be put to death because they threaten the fabric of America, or what they think America should be. So there was some social commentary on ignorance and prejudice against groups of people. There was also a lot of action in this book which I really liked.

Not what I expected… It wasn't bad but wasn't amazing either. The first half of the book was so boring that I almost DNF'd. Slade and Trisha kept running away and hiding from the bad guys who came to hunt them down in the woods. They were in the woods half the book! And there was almost no story here! Slade had repeatedly ticked me off when he kept giving her hot and cold treatment. I don't understand what was wrong with him that he kept calling her Doc. Yes, she's a doctor but she has her name, and her name is Trisha. Jerk!

The second half was much better. There was drama about Trisha’s pregnancy that helped pull me out of my bad mood. Thankfully, Slade could redeem himself in the last quarter of the book, otherwise you might see me ranting on about him much more than this!

And about the heroine, Trisha, there was not much depth to her character. I knew she’s a doctor, graduated from medical school at a very young age, and that’s it. There was no mention of her personality or background so I felt like I couldn’t connect with her (as a character).

I found the story was overly long and the sex scenes weren’t appealing enough to hold my attention. I skimmed through some of them just to finish the book. The best thing about this book is Brass. He is very funny and caring. He really should be a hero!

However, I liked the second half and it was nice enough to make me want to continue this series. And that was the reason why I gave it 3 stars.

He would have gone days without food or water just to know her body.

description

Slade, the second book in the New Species series, features Dr Trisha Norbit and Slade, an NSO officer. They meet at the hospital, right after the New Species are freed from Mercile industries. An intimate meeting experienced like no other, stays with the two long after their separation. Seeking a way to learn more on New Species, Trisha applies and accepts a job at Homeland, where New Species currently live. With the memory of her encounter with Slade always haunting her, Trisha is surprised and disappointed to find Slade doesn't remember her from the hospital.
description

Slade previously known as 215, can't forget the sexy redhead he woke up to at the hospital. She haunts him on a nightly basis with thoughts of their encounter and fantasies of finding her again. He makes a fool of himself by acting like an ass towards Trisha with his crude come-ons and rude comments. Seeking a way to redeem himself, Slade works to seduce Trisha and to retrain his intense need for her by giving her what she deserves. Only not all plans are followed through when planed by a horny New Species male, with the female of his dreams ready for the taking.
description

These two are intimate in the least expected places and at the most inconvenient times. But...its still sexy as hell. Especially all the dirty talk growled by Slade *sigh*

"Bend over for me, Trisha. I'm going to fuck you the way I've wanted to since I saw you."

I'm usually all for a romantic setting, on a bed cuddling, but with these New Species males and their love for 'mounting', mate I've found my new preference there.

description

Trisha, a doctor at Homeland, wanted Slade from the moment he touched her. A trip out of Homeland brings Trisha and Slade to great danger, with the two fighting for survival. Dependent on Slade, Trisha forms a close bond with her protector. But will all be the same between them after they return to Homeland? Will her feelings be shared by Slade, or will all be forgotten? Well, go read it to find out people!!

Suspenseful, heart stopping read, that's full of surprises that shocked and pleased me extremely. But even saying that, I will admit to loving Fury, book one in this series more. It just didn't hit the "OMG I love this book" mark for me. From the relationship formed, to Slade's thick-headedness, at times I was left a tad disappointed.

I will definatly be continuing this fantastic series and recommend it HIGHLY to all my PNR lover mates, who love a bit of animal in their men xx

Comparing this book to the first one is like comparing carob to chocolate. Sure, carob looks and smells like chocolate, but it doesn't taste even half as good.

That is a cruel trick, mom!

The New Species world is really cool. We have these science experiment people who are half animal/half human trying to simply exist. They aren't trying to mess with the humans, interact with them much, take their jobs, or hurt anyone. They have their own compounds to live in even. So, what's the problem?

The problem is that anything new and different = fear.
Fear = anger
Anger = kill them all!!!

As far as the back-woods dumbass hillybilly hunter boys are concerned, it's open season on New Species. They want to get them some of those there animal heads to mount on their walls. Cuz, there's nothing classier than a room full of animal corpses.

So, in the last book we met Trisha, the human doctor for the New Species, and Slade, one of the New Species police officers. She was very smart and cool, and he was a little bit of a jerk. So, it shouldn't have surprised me that he was a much bigger jerk in this book. And, he was! He jerked it up, baby!!

They are traveling together to a location that the leader is looking at to buy more land for their people. But, word gets through to a hate group and they are run off the road in the mountains and then it's redneck hunting time! Git yur guns, boys! So, Trisha and Slade are running through the woods, trying to not get killed.

So, being the gentleman that he is, Slade informs Trisha that she can lay close to him that night to stay warm only if she gives him a handy. Really? That's our hero?

"Want to keep warm, Doc?.... either rub me or move away."

"Release my hand."

He didn't. He moved it against him.

I don't know about you, but I think this is pretty rapey behavior. He pulled that crap on me and I'd put his balls in a vice grip until he cried like a girl. But, of course, she ends up having sex with him in the dirt. After running for their lives and peeing in the woods all day without food or water. Romantic!

That was my problem with the book. Slade was all "I love her, I'd do anything for her" in his thoughts, but he was rude, crude, and abusive in his language towards her. I just couldn't like this guy. He is on my I-wish-I-could-kill-this-book-character list. I'm tempted to join one of the hate groups that is trying to hunt him. I can buy some camo. I can learn to spit and scratch myself.

There are good parts of this book, too, though. Trisha has three guards that have become her best buddies and they are fun and hilarious. Harley was my favorite. He was constantly cracking jokes.

"A friend? I thought we could elope to Vegas and have Elvis marry us."
...He lifted up the material on his arm. "I had a spot picked out here to have your name tattooed on me and I thought I could have my name tattooed across your ass. That way I could actually say I owned your ass."

The other two guys, Brass and Moon were also really funny. They provided the personality that I wish Slade had.

Oh well. On to the next book, but I'm nervous because the guy it's about was a huge alpha in this one. Maybe he'll be nice and sweet in the next one..... it's possible...

GIVE IT TO ME, SLADE. I'M WORTH IT.

He gave it to me, alright, but I was nowhere near impressed.

To start off, this is the second installment of New Species where it has showcased Slade and the nosy Doctor "Doc" Trisha Norbit.

Their first encounter was a sizzle and it got me REALLY excited, however as I continued on, my excitement and focus wavered.

So did I like their story?

I am a big fan of teasing and Slade was a big tease. But I HATED IT! I detested him. He was crude and a jackass.
The words that came out of his mouth were just wrong.
I imagined his mouth sewn shut like this

And I'll be like

But of course that didn't happen in the story.
*TSK!*

So, the story grabbed me then?

On two occasions only.
1. Slade and Trisha's survival scenes. The action was great and the author injected small doses of violence. Both have satisfied me right to my core.
2. Valiant. This big hunk floats my boat. I WANT TO GET TO KNOW HIM. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT TICKLE HIS PICKLE.

So, would I give this a higher rating?

(Coz) Apart from Slade being an asshat and his untimely innuendos, banter between the New Species and Trisha didn't sit well with me. It was annoyingly silly (ESP poking a tongue out - really? TSK!) and didn't fit the characters.

Also, their names! Their. Names. Should. Be. Changed. Into.
Slade - Wink 1
Smiley - Wink 2
Brass - Wink 3
Moon - Wink 4
Harley - Wink 5

Wink wink wink wink wink wink wink wink wink wink wink wink wink wink wink. More wink wink wink wink wink. And one more WINK.

Gah! Stop already! No sh*t I was desensitized through and through.

To be honest, a lot of scenes made my eyes rolled but there's something in this series that makes me wanting to reach for the next sequel.
I do hope Valiant won't disappoint.

Rating it 2.5 I-dislike-wankers-err-winkers Stars

Another ridiculous installment, but I loved every page!

Some of the amazingly ridiculous things that should have made me hate this, but instead I ate right up:

~Our two main characters are in life or death survival situations, but they can't seem to do anything but bang.
~The good old tropey "I nearly just got raped but want you to touch me now"
~Lots of growling
~Lots of "mine"-ing
~Plenty of miscommuncation
~And a surprise!

Slade is an asshole who has no idea about anything. Trisha actually had some brains, I liked her a lot more than Ellie. And the supporting cast in this one was actually my favorite part. I liked the semi-love triangle that happened for a while there, Brass was a dude, Moon and Harley were cute and their banter with Trisha was lovely. Justice was even less of a douchcanoe in this one. Bonus!

Oh and we got to meet Valiant and I am super excited to read his book next!

I was on the edge of my seat reading this, the action and excitement in this was excellent and the writing was better than the first one.

This series is mind crack and I am addicted and will be needing another fix very soon.

¡¡¡Plop!!!

3 Stars! In my humble opinion, not as good as the first!

I'm in the minority, I didn't care for this one as much as the first book in the series, where everyone seems to be of the opposite opinion. Slade got on my nerves, his sense of humor rubbed me the wrong way and it got old. I felt like I was watching a bad comedy routine. It didn't care for the first half of the book, and I came close to setting it aside, but the second half was much better, and eventually Slade won me over.

Vanessa Chambers rocked the narration again.

RATING: 1.5-2 Just Meh Hearts.

Well, the rating kind of speaks for itself. I really enjoyed the first one in this series, and for all the right reasons too. Slade, in comparison, did not gain any brownie points from me. I'll make this simple, since this entire series is a guilty-pleasure venture for me.

What I Liked:

1) Dr. Trisha Norbit. It seems the women in this series are just plain old awesome, and full of snark and backbone . No clueless, dumb, or naive women in here, and lets just say, that goes a long way in making me one happy reader. So, for putting up with Slade's stupidness and for her great personality, Trisha gets a full star.

2) The concept. Again, I can't help but be drawn to the concept of this series. The animal/human fusion is interesting, and different. I'm always craving different, so this is my wish come true. Applause for that Laurann Dohner. And I have no doubt, this aspect of the series will keep getting better and better. Hopefully. :P

3) Secondary characters. There are so many potential new men being introduced and I am beyond excited for some of there stories, especially Brass, Justice, Tiger, Moon, Harley and Smiley's. They are such a great, humorous bunch, and I can't wait for them to find their own mates.

And, that's about where all the good ends, unfortunately.

What I didn't Like:

1) Slade. This guy I could not warm up to. He's an asshole in the worst way possible. He thinks he's funny (you are not, I assure you!), and he is just annoying. Did I mention he is rude? Well he is. I did not like his character, and the way he treated Trisha for most of the book, didn't sit well with me. He left her, and then when something major happens, he was beyond rude to her, blamed her without even asking questions. Idiot. Then all of a sudden at the end he loves her and wants her after everything clears up. Umm...how about no? There was nothing redeemable about him. I was angry at Trisha for taking him back...but...a story's gotta have its HEA, right?

2) The ending. Wait...what ending?? There is none. A sudden clearing up of a situation, and cliff drop. The book just ends. I actually was not expecting that. Simply, it was just a bad "ending", there was no lead up to it. I can't describe it any better way than that. Not my thing.

3) The plot. I actually did not like the storyline in this. Its so generic and it kind of felt pointless, in my opinion. Majority of the book is Trisha and Slade being on the run from the bad guys in the freakin woods until they can be rescued?? Are you kidding me? You'd think a big, strong beast-man could out run humans, but apparently not. *eye-rolls* By the time it actually kind of got interesting and worth reading, I was past the point of being generous.

Overall, not my favourite of the series, but I am hoping Valiant will redeem itself.

SLADE & TRISHA

Slade, Slade... deep sigh
"Are you still interested in learning something about the breeding process between our two species?"
The worst line he could find to make a pass at Trisha.
But he is so cute and funny. Especially, when he was promising one thing to himself and in the end he was doing the exact opposite.
The forest scene was pretty hot.
My second favourite NS after Fury.

Ella me deseaba mucho

—Te amo, Slade. Te amo con todo mi corazón.

Woof.

Review
Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad to quote Meat Loaf.

This "New Species" book did not do it for me at all, and it's all due to the hero.

Apparently, since being released from wherever, Slade has been reading Harlequin Presents on the sly as he is channeling Greek/Spanish/Italian/Sicilian tycoon behavior with slut-shaming, abandoning her after ONS, running after ONS, martyrdom, protecting the heroine by hurting the heroine, assuming the h is a slut on the basis of such meaningful actions like who she's standing next to, accusing her of infidelity and mind-numbing guilt among other things. Toss in his magic penis which excuses him of the necessary grovel, and HP H.

The h is okay, but another blonde?

Sidenote:

What a bummer that New Species guys can detect when you've had sex! Awkward. It's going to be interesting when their little New Species daughters start dating, and the uber-alpha, over protective instincts go into overdrive.

Way too silly at times. I had to DNF this one because I did a lot of eye-rolling while reading it. SUV tumbles down a ravine, hero & heroine are on the run from the bad guys trying to kill them but hey, let's stop and have some sexytimes even though said guys are still looking for us. If that's not bad enough, heroine is captured by bad guys the next day, is almost raped by one of them and hero saves her at the last minute and THEN, after she has a crying fest about the would be rape, she's wants to have sex with hero immediately after that scene. Color me confused. They went tumbling down a ravine, in an SUV, where neither was wearing a seatbelt, heroine actually ended up landing in the back of the truck when all was said and done and yet neither is injured to the point where sexytimes was the last thing on their mind? I couldn't keep going with this.

5 Slade Stars

I love me some Slade, I love his cocky self-assured ways. I love how he seems kind of like a guy you want to punch in the face. His wit. I just love Slade.

I am not a huge fan of Trisha though; I feel like she should have just listened a lot more and stopped questioning everything Slade said. He has the heightened abilities. She doesn't so she needed to zip it and trust in him.

I have to say I also loved the banter between the other New Species and Trisha of all the things about this book I really enjoyed that. Also when Trisha goes to Justices and talks to him and she finally tells him to shut it so she could talk... Yeah, favorite scene right there!

Vanessa Chambers again awesome, like I said before she does a great job with this series.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

He groaned against her throat, his mouth releasing her. “I can’t wait to taste every inch of you. I’m going to bury my face between your thighs and fuck you with my tongue until you beg me to make you come, beauty. I know you’re going to taste as sweet as you scent.” He growled louder. “Then I’m going to flip you over, put your ass in the air, and mount you until you come again.”

He was on his knees and he’d turned her until her back was to him. She shifted and fit both of her legs between his, which were spread apart. Her feet tangled with his pants at his ankles but she lifted them to hook over the material. One of his hands left her hip and his other hand slid to the front of her body. She tensed, her breathing increased, as he unfastened her pants. His chest pressed against her back as he lowered his head until his breath fanned her ear.

“I’m going to fuck you, Trisha.” He growled when he stated it. “I’m going to sink so deep into your pussy that you will want to scream out my name but you can’t. Do you think you can keep quiet?” He shoved her pants down. Her panties were pushed down to her lower thighs next and all the material bunched together.

Slade spun when he reached the door. “I will see you tonight.”
He stormed out and slammed the door. Trisha walked to the couch and threw herself down, cursing softly. She sensed three pairs of eyes on her and she looked back at each of them.
“Why did him saying that sound as if it were a threat?”
Moon grinned at Trisha. “Because it was.”
“Yeah,” Harley agreed. “You’re going to get it tonight.” He removed the popcorn from the microwave. “But I doubt he’d let us watch whatever it is he will be plotting to do to you to get even. I do enjoying watching porn movies though. I’m betting that it would be a good show. Too bad.”

Moon hovered by the window grinning.
“You should see this. There’s about ten of ours out there now and they have the assholes. One son of a bitch is trying to run from Valiant. Oops. He thought he could flee from Valiant. Now he’s a flying…ouch. He was doing a bird impression but now he’s part of a tree. Well, he was until his body hit the ground. Now he’s dead.” Moon chuckled. “That had to hurt. It seems the last thing on his mind was bark.”

Doc Trish and Slade are one of my favorite couples in this series. They find themselves in a survival situation in the woods while being hunted by hate group fanatics. There is quite of bit of violence, and lots of action in this book. Oh and the sex is Amazing!!

orgasm

Trish and Slade are so funny together. They joke and pick on each other and really make me laugh. I enjoy their hummor. Loved this book and look forward to more from this series!

Upon reading this one for the second time 6 years later, I had to update my thoughts on Slade & Trisha. What I thought was lacking with them the very first time I read this book, was actually there for me the second time around. I honestly don't know what distracted me from their chemistry the first time; but it was definitely white hot for me now..

I think maybe Slade's attitude is what killed it for me the first time, but reading him again now, I see and understand him better. His motives. So what I've come to understand about his personality now, didn't take away from them collectively as a couple for me upon this second read. If that makes sense?

So I had to add another star to this one and update my thoughts.
I really loved this one all around this time :).......

The action in this one definitely dominates more so than in the 1st installment. It's alot more suspenseful so it takes on a much more dramatic & serious tone. So I do love that about this one.

But Slade & Trisha, while cute together, didn't exude that passion, that heat, the unyielding emotion that I got from Fury & his mate in the 1st book. And that is what I think I missed the most in this book.

You will love Brass, he's such a sweetheart & I felt really really bad for him in a certain scene. And you meet alot of new & different intriguing New Species, which is great... And I got a GREAT surprise with this story that I did not see coming. I wondered if it would go there, but I still did not see it happening this soon. So it was a nice surprise.

Once the emminent danger seems to calm a bit, we get a bit more of the lighter, campy interactions between the characters that was very present in the 1st book. So again, I had alot of laugh out loud sweet endearing moments with this story.

I like this 2nd installment and would recommend this read.
On to book 3!

This book is # 2 in Laurann’s new series. Where book # 1 has a more serious feel because it’s setting up the world that the New Species live in. This one has more moments of humor.

Trisha Norbert is an ER doctor. There’s an emergency in her ER. That’s when she meets Slade, who is a New Species. New Species are men made from humans spliced with animal DNA. He is a canine breed, who ends up on Trisha's exam table wounded when he’s rescued from the lab that created him. She can’t forget him and she applies to be a doctor at Homeland, the place where the New Species live. When she gets there she meets Slade again but Slade doesn't recognize her. And that’s how their story begins.

As characters, Trisha is a smart, sometimes funny woman, but at times seems a bit timid. But she’s brave when she needs to be. Slade is at time arrogant, powerful, has a sense of humor and is loyal but he can be a bit of a jerk. He also shows that he can be vulnerable. As you learn more about his background, you understand the reasons for his behavior! His character is very complex and well rounded. Harley, Brass and Moon are wonderful secondary characters, who I hope get their own books.

This was another great story from Laurann. I start one of her books and can never put it down till it’s finished. Now I just have to wait for the next book in this series which I believe will be Valiant’s story, who you meet in this book.

He couldn’t put her in that much danger or ruin her life. She meant too much to him.

I’m in the minority here where I find Slade to be selfless and extremely caring. Leaving Trisha almost killed him but he honestly thought it would be best for her. Was it? Of course not. Jeez. He could have asked her what she wanted to do. But of course the book would have been over so the miscommunication must continue. The only complain I have is that it wasn’t emotional enough for me. I feel like it was a huge missed opportunity. There was so much to work with. I remember crying in book one. I didn’t cry at all reading this one. Maybe the funny guys helped. Even though I didn’t really like their jokes. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Again, minority here.

That ending was so abrupt too. I thought there was a glitch on my ebook. Lol. But that just means I need to start book 3 ASAP. Which, gah!!!! Valiant!! I can’t wait to read about the lion man. Even though I want Justice’s story now. I’m willing to wait if I get lion man. I am wondering if some of the really savage New Species have antlers though.

4 stars!

I love the world Laurann Dohner has created! but most of all, I love those sexy-possessive New Species males.
Slade was an ass at the beginning but he made up for it later.
What can I say? I like these guys. Oh! And I'm so happy they can have offspring *-*
I would recommend this series to all paranormal romance readers.
Looking forward to read about Valiant & Justice!
