My name is Cassis Dark, and I am a Spider Venin. My bite is venomous and can paralyze a man within seconds of exposure, and if I choose, it can kill.
When I was a teenager, my stepmother sold me into slavery. As a newly freed woman, I fight to protect the innocent from a world of pain with which I'm all too familiar.
The evils that stalk the night aren’t all human. Good thing for their intended victims…neither am I.
Cassis has spent time at the hands of the Queen of the hellhounds as a slave due to her step mom. However, when she reached maturity as a spider venin with a poison bite she made her escape. Now that she’s free she’s going back to save her friend who’s still in the hands of the Queen. With the help of her friend Keri who’s a scorpion venin the duo infiltrate her lair and make it out with Cassis friend a snake venin who’s just coming into her own.
Her landlord and friend Charlie’s sister has gone missing and Cassis is just the person to go into the supernatural world to rescue the missing Fairy. Determined to find her she heads to the Circus to speak with a shifter who last saw Finley. Little did Cassis know when she arrived at the Cirus that Jack would have two very attractive traits werewolf and musician. With the help of an alpha werewolf, a scorpion Venin and a little luck Cassis may just find Finley before it’s too late.
I like Cassis she’s a girl with a good heart who’s a defender of the innocent and looks good doing it. I love that she’s not your typical supernatural creature as a spider Venin she has some unique magical abilities besides a deadly bite. I like Jack he may just be what she needs and who doesn’t love a hunky attractive alpha male. The chemistry between these two is sizzling and can’t wait to see how it’s going to play out.
I knew the moment I saw it that I had to read Sweet Venom the cover is stunning and instantly captured my attention. Plus it’s not every day you see a spider hero as most people dislike them so much or even a scorpion. I think Cassis and Keri are both unique bad-ass heroines who totally kick ass in a fight and I love them. The story while it’s not new is very unique it’s filled with supernatural beings that we are familiar with as well as new ones. This isn’t my first book by the author, and it doesn’t disappoint a captivating fast-paced fantasy that was hard to put down. I’m anxiously waiting for the next one as I enjoyed this one so much. I highly recommend checking out this author’s books everyone has been amazing.
Gena has quickly become one of my favorite authors.I loved the Sonnet Vale series and Sweet Venom did not disappoint. Cassis Dark is a Spider Venin, her bite is venomous and can paralyze a man within seconds and can kill if she chooses.I have read a lot of paranormal books and this is the first I've read with a Spider Venin. It brings a whole new and interesting twist to a story. This is a great first novel in the Venin Assassin series and I hope there are many more to come.
Once again in Gena D Lutz books. I'm pulled in by her lure of action and twist.
A Phenomenal read that pulls at your very core. I could not wait to start this book because Sweet Venom was an unusual different twist to the paranormal world. The author gives such a freshness to it that you dint get bored with the sane read after time as avid readers do.
Sweet Venom lures you in, intrigues you, turns your world upside down. Just when you think you have it figured out it changes on you. I was so happy to see a deeper glimpse within a different beings in the paranormal world. It's a definite twist when you get Spiders, Scorpions lets not forget hot Were's and more! It's forbidding, dangerous, yet desirable and luscious. I especially love the hell hounds. These characters are all so different and Enticing. It gets darker and wilder so prepare for a ride!
Cassie shows you a glimpse into her bad ass self but draws you into her web of people she realizes she's connected too. She embarks on an adventure that that will be sure not to disappoint!
The writer flows with her words effortlessly off the pages and is so in depth with characters that you are pulled in and on edge the entire time! Who can you trust? Who do you hate? Who do you love?
The author leaves you with one hell of a cliffhanger making you scramble to grab the next book. It's words flow effortlessly off the page as does any if Gena's books. They'll keep you up for hours soaking in every word like a sponge. Be prepared for a huge book hangover. As usual this cliffhanger leaves you biting your nails. Way to go Gena! That was one hell of a ride when am I gonna read the next! I'm dying haha.
Gena D. has given us another winner with Sweet Venom, the first in a new paranormal series with a wicked, new, species!! Meet Cassis Dark, a Spider Venin and a kick ass, take no prisoners, heroine. I was swept into the world of Cassis, her best friend Keri and Jake, a hot as sin werewolf that well...you'll just have to find out for yourself! Gena D. has a way of making the words leap from the page, a way of transporting you into the world of her characters and leaves you wanting more! I can't recommend this author and her work highly enough!
Fast Paced Anyone else hate auto-correct? (Edited Errors)
I loved this. The characters are different than the typical para groupings. They're bad-a**. A spider, scorpion, and snake try to find a fae. Not a joke. Hellhounds give chase, pulling the past and present together. I'd really like a prequel to solidify the characters' angst. Definitely a book not to miss. Magic, mystery, mayhem, what more can you ask for?
A delightful change with paranormals such as Cassis and Keri. And you also have Rue. What do they have in common that you don't normally see in stories such as this? They are venomous and Hell on the other paranormals who "think" they are bad. You'll be laughing and growling right along with the characters here. Also, though it doesn't happen full fledged, you have the beginnings of a love connection that even the pair hadn't seen coming.
Book Hangover 8 This is a great storyline, was easy to follow but just didn't have a lot of depth to it. I completely enjoyed it & plan to read the next.
I have read the first 3 books in the series. They are short in a serialised format and each are great reads in their own right with interesting plot developments. I could not put them down until I had finished them. They just suck you in and don’t let go. Great characters and entertaining plots. Highly recommended.
Short, but fun read. I really enjoyed this new type of creature, not quite a shifter, definitely not a fae, werewolf or vamp, but still pretty kick ass. Cassis is a spider venin, a mostly human looking woman with the powers of a spider including a very powerful venomous bite, who along with her friend Keri, a scorpion venin, has to find and save a third friend, but this time a snake venin, one who is just coming into her powers. Someone nasty from Cassis's past has her and it soon brings back not so good memories for our heroine.
Not long after that rescue, Cassis heads back out to find another missing girl, this time the sister of her fae friend Charlie and again Cassis finds herself in more trouble than she expected, but she also gets help from an unexpected source as well. A source that may lead to some fun in the future!
A fun book and I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series and seeing how these characters develop and to discover more about their species and powers.
I really enjoyed this first book in the series. It has the fun, exciting feel of the author's other popular series.
Cassis is a fun character with a complicated, dark past. She is a Spider Venin and has some of the abilities of a spider but looks very human. She tries to help other supernaturals who are in need. Cassis has some good friends who help and support her and they have different supernatural abilities. She also has a wolf shifter that is acting very interested in spending more time with her.
This book has plenty of action. It is a very fast-paced story and I was eager to see Cassis in action as she worked to save a young fairy from a violent fate. She is really tough and protective of those she cares for and you really want her to triumph. I can't wait for the next book.
I love when books have kick butt females, and I found Lutz's take on supernatural to be unique! Cassis is the kick butt female, who is a Spider Venin, which is a type of supernatural, which I thought was super cool! There's also snake and scorpion venin! Cassis has had a tough past, she was sold into sexual slavery, but she has gotten herself free, but there are still those that are trapped, so she is going to do what she needs to do, to save her friend and the other's who are still trapped in that world. Cassis also has to deal with a friend's missing sister, but with a little help from some of her friends and a hot werewolf, hopefully Cassis can take down the slave ring and find her friend's sister. The story is interesting and entertaining, and I liked all the characters; I would've like a bit more depth to the characters, but since it is a fairly short book, I can understand that getting a real feel for the characters may be difficult. There was also a part in the middle that felt a little jumbled to me, but I loved all the action and I loved the play between Cassis and Jake; I'm very interested to see where that goes! This is a complete book, but there's still a lot of story to be told for these characters, and I'm really looking forward to reading the next book. There's a lot of depths still to explore!
Ready for an adventure of some kick arse, not so quite human women with a deadly bite or stinger, well then this story is for you. Throw in a sexy male werewolf and you will definitely enjoy this lol.
Cassis is one deadly spider who is out to save a friend or two from what she endured in her past. Keri is her bestie and just as deadly, only in a pointed stinger way. Rue, their fairy friend, has been kidnapped by the Queen and her hounds. Her hounds are evil lol.
Cassis meets Jake while following a lead for a second friend Finlay whose disappeared. Together with Keri they embark on one heck of a saving mission.
I actually give the author two thumbs up for ending it when she did. I sure didn't expect it to end when it did, but it left you will a great cliffhanger ending, haha
Great Read for Imaginative Minds. If you can picture what these gals do with your mind you'll find yourself wondering WOW that's pretty cool. Appropriate for teens.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book by the author. Reviewer for Nook Books and More Blog
My name is Cassis Dark, and I am a Spider Venin. Very interesting paranormal read, with a very different type of breed for the main character that I have ever read. Cassis is a badass assassin, a heroine, helping those in the grips of the night queen. Along with her friend Kris, a kickass scorpion venin, and Rue a newly changed snake venin. Throw in werewolves, vampires, succubus, fairies, and hellhounds, and it's an all around blood bath. I thought it was a unique storyline , with very distinguished characters, the author went out of the normal bounds to write this , and for that deserves 5 well written stars. This is an action packed paranormal read, no steam , but I still thoroughly enjoyed. Received a volunteer copy by the author, reviewed and recommended by Alpha Loving Erotic Book Beauty Blog
What an enjoyable read and how about that sexy cover? This was such a different type of book! I loved that the author gave us a new PNR world to step into. Cassis Dark is a spider venin; she can paralyze a man with a bite and kill if needed. She has made it her mission in life to protect the innocent from the world of pain, a pain she is only too familiar with. With the help of her best friend and a sister venin, Keri, they have one adventure after another. Cassis even teams up with Jake, a sexy-as-sin werewolf that happens to be a musician as well. We could only be so lucky! But you’ll have to read to know what happens. I do have to say I was a little disappointed the book wasn’t longer, but only because I wanted more. If you like quick reads with lots of action, then you should check this out.
***I voluntarily received this ARC for an honest review.***
This is a whole new series for me as well as a twist on the assassin genre by making the girls into whichever snake, spider, arachnid etc tgat can kill with a bite !! Cassis Dark was sold into slavery and she has nade it her new life's work to help those who can't help themselves, while trying to stay one step ahead of the Hellhounds and the Queen who owns them !! Lots of twists, very female empowered. I can't wait to see what tge author shows us in book 2 !! If you like strong female leads, paranormal powers and lots of action , this books for you . 4⭐'s . I was gifted a copy of the book and am voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review.
This book is a promising start to this all new series. It kept me interested and made me laugh which is great! I'll be reading the next book but I feel like we started in the middle of the story in some ways. I would have liked more back story on the characters, the bits that we did get were nice but not enough it just needed a little more...something we can sink our fangs into and go that's who this character is. There is a part at the end that made me a little confused as to what was happening and how it fit in with that part of the story...(it's a flash back) But over all I could follow the story easy and I did like the sarcasm and humour in it.
This book is action pact from the very first page. I love the different take on the shape-shifting concept and those venomous paranormal. Cassis is one kick-ass heroine and Keri oh my, I love Keri character. Keri gives it to you the way it is. If you are looking for something different from the norm paranormal book then you should absolutely pick up this book and hold on to your side because it is indeed a wild and fast ride. I want more Cassis and Keri jobs adventures.
The only thing I enjoyed about the book was that it had a different kind of fantasy breed, the usual suspects (vampires, werewolves, fae...) aren't the main characters but the side characters. The idea is fresh and so much could be done about it.
But the actual plot itself couldn't be saved no matter how interesting the ideas are. Just a hot mess that didn't seem to have a plot, felt like the author just threw in a conflict without building any thought really....very disappointed with the plot, since the idea was so refreshing.
I enjoyed this author's take on some new supernatural creatures (spider, scorpion and snake) mixed in with werewolves, vampires and hell hounds. I enjoyed the story however (SPOILER) I didn't care for how after the main character was shot, she was taken back into her memories to see what really happened before she was shot. I was confused for a moment thinking that I read that wrong and had to reread that part a few times.
I was give this book by the author in exchange for honest review. I truly loved this book I couldn't put it down once I started I love that Cassis (the main character) is sassy speaks her mind and calls people out on their shit! I can not wait till the next book comes out! My only dislike about this book is it's length I wanna know what happens next!
Excellent book! At first I mixed about the book but as I got sucked into the story I couldn't put it down. Casis , Keri, Rue, Charlie, Finley and especially Jacob make an interesting set of characters. You have mystery, action, humor and even romance. I look forward to reading the next in the series.
Gena D. Lutz has done it again- creating a new spin on the paranormal world of writing and doing do beautifully! This story takes off running and does not slow down for a minute. Readers will need to keep up and catch their breathe before diving into the next installment.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's a fairly quick read, but definitely captures your attention. Lots of snark and humor tossed in with the fights and rescues. I'll absolutely be looking for the next book of the series!
The characters are just enough different to make this an interesting read. The story is short, just when it gets interesting, its done. I liked it though
