WARNING: This book contains extremely gory, depraved, disturbingly graphic material that many may find offensive. Adult readers only!
Wait...!
Perhaps you're ready to give it a try despite the warning---maybe even in spite of it. But be fully warned, this story is truly revolting. Imagine seeing a child get struck by a truck. In his last moments of fear and agony, he feebly lifts his head off the ground, leaving the right side of his face upon the pavement. No doubt you feel terribly for the poor child. But does morbid curiosity compel you to watch? Or do you turn to flee, emptying your stomach along the way? Please only read this book if you are able to tolerate extremely vile situations.
You have been warned.
Twice.

I don't want you to curl up and be cozy; I want to take you well out of your comfort zone. I don't want to send a tingle up your spine; I want to paralyze you with fear. I don't want you to read about a character's fright; I want you to experience it. I don't want to take you down a well-traveled path; I want to lead you beyond the shadows into a realm of darkness beyond your wildest imagination.
Because ordinary horror is for ordinary people.

This book opens with a note by the author. In the note, she warns the reader that there will be graphic scenes of violence, and advises that the reader suspend disbelief. I was willing to do the latter and took heed of the former. Having been alerted that a self-performed abortion occurs in the beginning of the story, I knew that there would be extreme gore. But the destruction truly begins with a baby that is born years later. What the child does to the people around him is where suspension of disbelief comes into play. Baby William makes Chucky seem like Raggedy Andy. There is no escaping his desires. His story is descriptively violent, nauseating, and ... compulsively readable. I finished this book in record time. I had to know what would become of William, his family and anyone who came into contact with the child. The author captured my attention from beginning to end. So now it's my turn to warn you. Abandon hope all ye who enter here.
Readers definitely need to heed the warnings of this book as there is an abortion in the beginning of the book and lots cannibalism, torture, child abuse, blood, gore throughout the rest of the book. If you cannot handle it, then don't pick it up, but if you are a hardened gore horror fan, then this book is for you.
A little backstory:
Elizabeth Cotton meets a stranger outside of her church and is instantly mesmerized by him to the point where she lets him take her home. Her one night stand with him leaves her pregnant, and she decides to perform a self afflicted abortion.
Years later she is married to Martin and she ends up pregnant. But after she has the baby, everything kind of hits the fan as the baby is not normal. Actually he is far from normal and the doctors and nurses think he could be a demon baby from Hell!
Thoughts:
What entails throughout the book is what the baby is actually able to do with his mind and as he gets older what the parents have to go through to endure their demonic son.
It is very easy to get attached to the characters and the situations that arise throughout the book involving the demon child as he grows up. The pages of the book are pulsing with evil incarnate and it becomes easy to get caught up in the gory romp through Hell as the story moves at a quick pace. I read this book within 48 hours as nothing was going to stop me from making my way through it! A twisted page turner!
This is a very intense, scary read and there is so much gore in this book that it is a wonder my kindle wasn't bleeding! So grab your gore suit as you are going to need it for this book! Oh and do not forget your gore guard helmet, gloves, and boots as when the gore starts flying you want to make sure you are encased from head to toe in body gear! Five stars for one hell of a bloody ride!
(To Angel: We the readers have endured another gory romp through your mind and we are really liking it! Keep the gore coming as "we" the hardcore horror fans love taking hellish rides into the unknown!)
Ever read a book and think, I really really, really, REALLY want to kick this antagonist’s ass?
But… before you answer, there’s a slight wrinkle: For most of this book, our antagonist is two years old and younger.
Yep. A demonically spawned child that murders, manipulates, creates havoc, and is overall a massive harbinger for really, really bad stuff. And powerful. Oh, so terrifyingly powerful.
Expulsion is a HARDCORE horror novel. Everything I’ve read by Angel Gelique is. She’s amazing and I’m a huge fan of hers. When I wanted to see an exemplar of what extreme horror was, she was the first person I read. And boy, did she sure as heck educate me. Oof. Expulsion is truly brutal. Heed her warnings. This was at least as intense as the Hillary trilogy. Candidly I think this book was more intense. It is nitroglycerin-grade despair in written form.
It starts out brutal with harsh subject matter. No two ways about it. Then poor protagonists, Elizabeth and Martin, go through hell. Especially Elizabeith. I wanted Elizabeth to be okay. I wanted to shake the dad, Martin, and tell him to stop being a dipstick and listen to his poor, suffering spouse who birthed the demonspawn child—who they named William. I wanted the characters to get some relief from circumstances and pain, especially Elizabeth. Gelique walks you through ever hellacious step. And let me tell you, she ain’t holding your hand during this book like your mom or your dad did when they read you a bedtime story. Nope. She’s got you gripped by the throat and dragging your butt through the plot. I found it captivating because I wanted it to be okay for the mother. I wanted—desperately—for her to figure out some way out of this situation.
This story was different than some of her other stuff where the protagonist gets what’s coming to them and it is different than Hillary in its point of view. She has in other works, and in this book, to me, uses just the right amount of omniscient POV to give you the detail you need to amp up the horror.
The middle to me let up just a little tiny bit. At that point, I was thinking, hmmm… maybe this will be just four stars. But that can’t be right. AG’s awesome. Am I missing something? Then I get to 70%. Holy crapballs. She had only loosened her storytelling grip so her plot could chokeslam me to the ground like the literary Undertaker that she is and put her word-smithing foot into my tender neck and stomp. From the 70% stage of the book, the demon-child is really amping up his torture of his mother and the unfortunate souls that encounter him and feed his evil needs. The story totally managed to get me in a place where I truly hoped Look. I am not particularly squeamish. I consider myself as having a pretty high grossness/brutality/horror threshold. But when the , I had one of those light-headed moments where I was really affected by the images being created. And here’s where I think a point needs to be made. It wasn’t just gross just for gross sake. It wasn’t just an isolated, contextless description of depravity. It was integral to really good story-telling in my humble opinion. This type of book is not for everyone. I’m not going to over-sell it. But Gelique, to me, really knows how to get to that cross-roads of touching on something so despairingly loathsome, while still making a point as to why she is telling you that image or event is important from a storytelling standpoint is really golden. The story jerks you around, making you hope that it’ll be okay, then well,
A couple of other points. This book has a fiendishly convincing antagonist in baby William. Even as an infant, he knows how to push buttons and hide behind the physicality of an infant, then a toddler, then a young kid, all the while murdering and torturing. It manages to propel the plot with devices that convince you that no one can actually kill this little brat—despite some characters’ efforts to do so. Being a “baby” was the perfect cover for the demonic intelligence. I thought Gelique created an interesting character in Mike the nurse because I couldn’t quite get a bead on him. And as usual, I found there were quite poignant quotes that stuck with me, such as
The story ends up where I didn’t expect to, where it goes kind of Sucks to live through that, I expect!
First off definitely heed the warning. This book is extremely hard core horror. Revolting, disgusting, stomach turning, graphic gore. If you can't handle that, this is not the book for you. If you can, well you will meet a child by the name of William who makes Damien from the Omen look like a mild mannered lovable tot. William reeks of death and disease and has unholy powers that no one can escape. As he grows so do his powers and it won't be long before he no longer needs his parents, especially considering the special diet he prefers. 3.75 out of 5 stars.
I received a complimentary copy with no obligation to review.
EXPULSION, by Angel Gelique, is an extreme horror, occult/supernatural novel. If you are a reader who is sensitive to graphic descriptions, I highly recommend heeding the author's explicit warnings on this one! For those with stronger stomachs, I believe you'll find this an extremely fast-paced, compelling novel that you won't be able to put down once you begin.
We commence with a young Elizabeth Cotton, unmarried, who encounters a strange man one day. Something about him makes her forget her strict religious upbringing--the result being a painful sexual encounter, culminating into an unwanted pregnancy. Out of "safe" options, Elizabeth takes the matter into her own hands--quite literally.
Four years later, she is married to Martin Howe and expecting their first child.
A child that immediately lets the world know that he is "different", getting into the minds of others and manipulating the environment around him without mercy.
". . . They thought about . . . difficult choice and realized that they, too, would have surrendered the lives of others in lieu of their own loved ones. It wasn't the altruistic choice but it was certainly the natural, instinctual one . . ."
Once baby William goes home with his parents, the nightmare is only just beginning for Elizabeth and Martin: ". . . For sleep was as elusive as truth to a pathological liar . . ."
Angel Gelique creates her characters with such depth of emotion and details their thoughts, fears, and despair so unflinchingly that no matter how brutal and severe the carnage in the scenes, you simply CAN NOT turn away from their plight. Flaws and all, I was able to completely suspend my disbelief in this novel and feel as though I was an actual witness to these horrendous events.
One comment that I felt particularly effective in portraying both a physical and mental image of William's malevolence was thought by a woman, Miriam, who had the misfortune of becoming the subject of one of William's most outrageously sadistic forms of torture.
". . . glared at her with dizzying eyes that rivaled Vantablack, the darkest shade of black known to man . . ."
I could virtually feel the pull of pure evil emanating from this "child"! Perhaps the part I found the most disturbingly realistic is that William never needs to "lie" about the sins of those around him. We, as a species, commit enough atrocities, apathy, neglect, and other callous thoughts and deeds towards each other, on our own . . .
This novel, while certainly extreme in its descriptions, was exceptionally difficult to disengage myself from. I found it remarkably spellbinding from the very first scene, and couldn't help but follow along the author's every word until the very end. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author in the future, and have already purchased another one of her books.
Highly recommended for fans of extreme horror!
*I received an e-copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.*
Expulsion by Angel Gelique, is a good Extreme Horror story. William made his mother and everyone else around him experienced hell on earth, since his birth. I couldn’t stop my listening to the atrocities, that William inflicted upon the unlucky souls that crossed his path. I highly recommend it, if you’re looking for a gruesome, and nightmarish horror story. This story isn’t for sensitive readers.
A very raunchy read for sure1 I like to check out newer horror authors and Gelique has come across my GR feed several times, so I picked this up. Remember Rosemary's Baby and how it ended with the birth of the demon child? Well, Expulsion is something like a modern tale starting where Rosemary's Baby left off. After a brief but very gory intro, where our main protagonist Elizabeth is seduced/raped by Malum, gets pregnant and then bloodily aborts herself with a coat hanger, the main story kicks off several years later. (Not really a spoiler as the author gives a warning intro of this before the first page of the story).
Elizabeth is now married to a nice guy and very pregnant once again; seems fairly normal, but my, does she have some doozy nightmares. You can loosely divide this book into two parts: the birth/hospital and then home sweet home. Gelique has a vivid imagination to be sure and the body horror is as visceral as you might expect given the warnings, but even so, I think a woman reading this might find it more shocking. Squirting out a hissing, biting demon child, then a rotting placenta swarming with maggots, all the while the little baby is somehow managing to induce hate and nastiness into the people all around him. I liked this part, but like the author also states in the intro, you have to suspend your disbelief and just roll with it.
The second part, where Elizabeth and little William finally make it home had its moments for sure, but it felt like Gelique was, at times here, simply patching together a string of nasty, degrading scenes in an attempt to unsettle the reader. I was hoping for some more character development and a twisty plot, but Gelique seemed to more inclined to try to gross out the reader than develop a complex story. Still, if you want some gore an evil demon baby, you could do a lot worse than Expulsion. 3 coat hangers!
This book is not for everyone. I think it's one sick and twisted story. Suspension of disbelief will be required, as it is a supernatural occult horror story. Recommended for hardcore fans of horror who can tolerate extreme gore and mayhem.
OMG...I didn't think it was possible to hate a baby/child as much as I did the one in this extremely descriptive, violent and nauseating story. It was a compulsive unputdownable read. It was so well written and the the words just flowed with ease. The gore just poured out from every page and Angel Gelique didn't hold back on any of it... truly stomach churning stuff.A highly recommended book for those who enjoy the extreme end of horror... But don't take this book lightly...it's a shocker!!!😱😳😲
Truly a great piece of satanic horror reminiscent of events from ‘The Omen,’ and much, much more.
Young William is born Elizabeth’s son, but from there on in things just go from bad to worse, in fact to the End it’s very itself. Death, destruction and complete ruination is the oder of the day for this angry, growling new-born, and woe betide anyone or anything that is unfortunate enough to cross ‘hiss’ path.
A thoroughly enjoyable read, but don’t expect any glimpses of shining light or good news on this journey, just reassuringly black, evil wickedness all the way, and I do mean all!
Great fun with some fantastic moments and an extremely clever, fitting ending that just leaves the whole world teetering upon the brink. Yes, the Dark Lord and Mistress Angel have spoken. I have listened and now pay homage. May God have mercy upon my soul.
Highly recommended for fans that enjoy ‘Dark Arts’ fictional adventure, and a narrative that would make for a brilliant, 18+ extreme, psychologically disturbing, ‘possession’ horror movie, of that I have no doubt.
Now left in limbo, eagerly awaiting the resurrection and re-emergence of William and Malum in ‘Expulsion - Part 2’. Cannot wait to experience the torturing blackness of it all again, which I hope, one day, will become an actual reality.
Rating: 4.8 diabolically good, deathly black stars.
That was chaos from start to finish. Not ONE page of rest. Jesus fucking christ. I honestly couldn't put it down. It's writtem very well, has a good amount of gore and has a storyline unlike I've ever read before.
Expulsion by Angel Gelique Narrated by Jessie Allan 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 This is an awesomely entertaining, extreme horror story!! It’s dark, evil, gory and I loved all of it! At the age of 24, Elizabeth has a strange and traumatic encounter with a mystery man that has scarred her forever. Later in life, she gets married and has a baby, but something isn’t quite right with this baby. This baby has special powers and crazy needs. This book is super intense and sucked me in quickly!! I didn’t want to stop reading/listening until it was done. This book gave me Rosemary’s Baby and The Omen vibes!
I was lucky to listen to the audio version and the narrator did an excellent job! She's quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators!
This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I’m so excited to read more!!
*Check out this excellent and extreme horror story!!* 😈😈😈😈😈
4.5 ⭐️ this is the story of a woman name Elizabeth. She meets a man outside of a church one day. She’s immediately enamored by him , so she takes him home for a one night stand to find out she’s pregnant. Within the first few pages of the story an abortion takes place years later Elizabeth meets her future husband, Martin when they get pregnant, and decide to have the child. Only problem is once baby, William is born doctors and Elizabeth herself are convinced the baby is literally from hell. This is not my typical read, but I would be lying if I didn’t say, I enjoyed it way more than I actually anticipated . I’m not a fan of anything demonic or paranormal, but I could not put this down from page one. There is an extreme amount of trigger warnings in the beginning of this book. If you have any, I cannot stress enough this book is probably not for you. If you don’t, I cannot stress enough to read this.
EXCELLENT NOVEL !!! Angel Gelique knows her stuff , and how to write Gut-Wrenching Extreme Horror Fiction !!! I recommend this book very highly to those who are looking for more than the tame horror fiction and YA novels flooding the market these days and want to get to the heart of True , Dark , Bloody , Evil , Horror !!! If this is you then this novel is your next read !!!
While I don't think anything will ever top MAN CAVE, I thoroughly enjoyed this twisted story of the supernatural/occult.
Elizabeth has an extremely odd encounter with a stranger dressed in black after church one day. When the encounter turns sexual, she finds herself with an unwanted pregnancy that she attempts to abort. After ridding herself of the fetus, we are brought to present day where Elizabeth and Martin are happily married and are expecting their first child. But when the child is born, it's the thing of nightmares. It hisses instead of cries, its eyes are black, and worst of all, just being in its presence causes malevolent thoughts to fill the mind of anyone close by.
The author states directly that you MUST suspend disbelief in order to enjoy the story, and I did exactly that. I was engrossed from the first page, and her story was very much like the campy possession movies of the 80s. Many thanks to the author for the signed copy!
I really enjoyed this book. Yes. There are some graphic scenes but there is a lot more to this book than physical violence and gore. I really became invested in the main character and her plight. I thought the book was well written and fun to read. There were also a few plot elements I didn’t expect. Highly recommended. An excellent and rather unique book in the extreme sub genre. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
I thought Richard Laymon was dead. I hereby applaud Richard Laymon, the Undead, or Ms. Angel Gelique, for penning a horror-thriller that, in all honesty, had me absolutely breathless for the initial one-third of it. It did relent, but only to add a more than generous dose of shockingly original gore that was warned against in the foreword (for the squeamish readers) but, as is the fate of most warnings (think of cigarettes), it went unheeded, thus bringing me into contact with (with no hopes of washing it off any time soon) that mother of all disgusting phenomena: Trypophobia, the fear of holes. Incest, coat-hanger abortions, cannibalism and pedophilia plummet like mercury on the gross-out index when a woman’s body becomes . . . I’ll leave it at that.
Splatter and thrill aside, the book is much more. The demon child with powers that seem to transcend the Prince of Darkness himself and acts of unstoppable perversion that seem to refute the very existence of God, does provide an unlikely commentary on the concept of Free Will. Evil is born and nurtured because humans give in to their darker side, their lust, their greed - bodily or material - not because the seed of evil itself is omnipotent.
Great piece of escapist fiction, but not for the faint-hearted.
Elizabeth and Martin are about to have their first baby and its an exciting time for them! They're in love and happy. And then William is born...
There IS a reason Ms. Gelique put not one but TWO warnings in the synopsis of this book!! If you aren't a fan of terrifying, gory horror stories this might not be one you want to read. Luckily, for me, I love and appreciate those things! I read this book in one sitting. I could not put it down. When I did finish it I noticed my entire body was sore because I had been so tense while reading.
In my opinion, Angel Gelique is one of the best writers of horror there is. As much as I was horrified, I also really cared about the characters. ALL of them! Elizabeth and Martin had so much to look forward to. I HAD to know why "everything" started. Every tragic event that happened afterwards was heartbreaking. I had so many emotions going on and I enjoyed every minute of it. I recommend this book to everyone! Mostly.
My "favorite" part? Miriam... She loves her Scotch!
I read this as an ARC from the author who warned me of its content before I had even downloaded the copy. Angel, you were not wrong. I am a hardened horror fan and still I felt that some of the images and events described in this story are stomach-turning. This is not violence and gore just for the sake of it. This is exceptionally well written violence and gore that is steered by a well paced and engrossing story. I imagine it as The Omen if it was written by Shaun Hutson. Believe me when I say that this is not a bad thing. Being a horror story some suspension of disbelief is required but on the whole Expulsion is a very enjoyable blood-soaked read but definitely not for those with a weak constitution. Now, I'm gonna have to read the Hillary books...
Expulsion is a fucked-up mess of gore and depravity, I loved it. Be advised, this story has more triggers than an NRA convention. Edward Lee sets the bar high when it comes to extreme horror, and Angel Gellique in my opinion has reached it with Compulsion. There are some disturbing parts of this book 'no spoilers' that made my gorge rise, and that is not an easy feat. If you want to read an extreme horror novel that is truly demented, then look no further than Expulsion.
Christ on a crutch! This was twisted from start to finish. Weak readers need not apply. Damien is child's play compared to this sick tale.
The pacing was relentless. While I wanted to feel sympathy for the innocent main characters, I found myself anticipating the next vile act of the demon child.
There are no nice moments to redeem the evil story, and I loved that.
This was my second heinous story by Angel, and she did not disappoint. All I can say is this is The Omen meets A Serbian Film, and that made it an easy 5 star. Absolute extreme perfection.
I absolutely loved this crazy, crazy, crazy book. Did I say it was crazy? I was impressed with the author because she didn’t write in fear. She showed in great detail kids, women, babies being tortured. I was extremely grossed out and knew not to eat while reading the book. I appreciated Angel Gelique not holding back because reading a book about an evil child shouldn’t be sugar-coated.
The setting was Cortlandt, a small town that hardly had any crime. The small town was turned upside down when Elizabeth and Martin, wife and husband, entered the hospital. She was pregnant, unbeknownst to her it wasn’t a normal baby.
Four years earlier, Elizabeth had met a mysterious evil man, Malum. She lost her virginity to him, then did a horrible, horrible, horrible act. The self-performed abortion scene was so sad! I felt horrible when she puked on it afterwards. The author did an amazing job creeping me out with her visual details. Sign of a truly talented writer.
My favorite lines: 1) Yet, something about this particular rainstorm unnerved her greatly. 2) “I can help you feel better,” the man said, his flawless face devoid of emotion, yet irresistible. 3) “Is it dead?” Elizabeth cried out. “It’s dead, isn’t it?” 4) “I am death, decay and deception, disease and disorder. I am lust and greed and wrath and chaos. I am the destroyer of minds, bodies, and souls. I am sin itself.”
I really liked the hospital staff, but I wished those scenes would’ve been shorter. The book really picked up after Elizabeth got discharged from the hospital. I really enjoyed the tension and conflict between Elizabeth and Martin. She was scared of her baby and wanted nothing to do with it. But Martin loved it unconditionally. I wanted him to snap out of his naivety, but then there wouldn’t have been a story haha. I didn’t like Martin at all because of his lack of support. He came around towards the end though and I grew to respect him.
I had to pause and catch my composure after reading two scenes. It really hurt my heart and I wept. The first scene was Elizabeth taking matters into her own hands regarding her first baby. And the second scene involved the aftermath of a dad’s greed of insurance regarding his two daughters. That scene really shook me to the core–in a good way. Once again, a sign of a brilliant horror writer!
Expulsion is one dark and sinister book written expertly. This book is not for the faint of heart and has a lot of gorey parts. Angel develops a unique plot following a great pace. Even though the story gave me the creeps, I had a difficult time putting it down. The author slowly unravels the story leaving you at the edge of your seat. It is like the infamous train wreck, you just can't look away.
Elizabeth, oh poor Elizabeth. She has quite the ordeal and struggles finding her way through it all. Angel develops her character, from your normal person to one who doesn't know the way out. Her mental decline is depicted in great detail. You can't help but wonder how this will all tie up in the end, and I do not give away endings so if this book grabs your attention, you can find out on your own.
I truly enjoyed this book regardless on how gruesome it is. If that is something you can handle, then I can only recommend this book.
I have received this book from the author for an honest review. (LoP, Lovers of Paranormal)
This book delivers on its promise, absolutely reveling in the horrific acts, going into detailed descriptions of gore and violence. There is no softening of the blow with any kind of happy ending nonsense. It is nasty from end to end, transmitting a story that is loosely about some kind of demonic fiend-child bent on destruction of life and humanity. I doubt I will ever recommend this book to anyone, but I did read it in one go on my trip back home from the Pacific Northwest, so it wasn't boring.
This was a highly imaginative story. Lots of evil surprises. The author took one of the most innocent of beings, a baby, and turned it into a horrifying demon. This is a twisted but classic story of the past coming back to terrify you and drive you insane.
This book is incredibly disgusting and horrendous and I couldn't put it down. It's fucked up and paints a vivid picture that you want to immediately get out of your head, but it's intoxicating and overall an addictive read.
Well you know what...I don't even know what to say about this book and it's ending...other than that it was gory insanity wrapped in the fires of hell worth the read for the real horror lovers out there but NOT for the light of heart AT ALL! I read a warning by the author before reading this book and thought perhaps...PERHAPS....she was over exaggerating....I tell you though...they couldn't have been more right. Definatly will keep that as part of my collection.
I got this book from the Goodreads First Reads Giveaways.
Overall good story, has a lot of potential. Seems like it left off in the middle however, could have been a lot more to the end. The end could have been the middle, really. Also, for all the warnings, it's pretty tame; nothing even made me cringe. Descriptive and well done, but I've read gnarlier. Sequel, please!
