My love for writing started young. Luckily I had a family who encouraged believing in magic and embracing imagination. From stories quickly scribbled in bright pink diaries, my love of storytelling developed. Since then my characters may have evolved and my plots may have grown decidedly more steamy but I never lost my love of the written word. Writing is not only a way to silence the wonderful voices in my head, but it also allows me to share my passions with my readers. Hope you enjoy my titles!

Victoria Davies is an author whose writing always works for me and having enjoyed her paranormal romances I grabbed this without hesitation. I loved it: sexy, romantic and witty, it ticked all the boxes of what I look for when I pick up an Indulgence.

description

Before I continue, I do want to mention that there are comments being made over the hero being unfaithful. As always, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and here's mine: he's not. He's a commitment-phobe with a history involving a few women but there is no cheating to be found here.

"We need to start having no strings attached sex on a regular basis. Friends with benefits, as it were."

The tropes used in Right Billionnaire, Wrong Wedding aren't new, but the author has taken them and brought a fresh, well paced story that grabs from the start. I loved Ali's confident, determined nature and the fact that she very much has her own mind, and I adored Darian for the sweet, thoughtful, frustrating and slightly dirty man he is. And having known each other for several years, there's that natural but awkward feel as they cross the line from business into the very personal.

description

It's not a bed of roses for this couple, but their journey is one filled with heat, fun, discovery, feeling and moments that will make your hurt for them; they aren't perfect, and for that reason, they were in many respects. My only minor grumble is how quick it ended; considering how the story played out, I think Ali let Darian off the hook a little too easily, and I think they would have benefitted from an epilogue, but that aside Victoria Davies really does know how to write a easy-going sexy romance with likeable couples, and if that's what you're after, then you can't go far wrong with this.

"At work we need to focus on business. Outside the office we can play."

Opet, ništa naročito posebno, sve već viđeno u ostalim knjigama ove tematike o seksi milijarderima koji se upuštaju u vezu sa sekretaricom.. Ali sam ipak uživala čitajući ovu priču. Šta reči, obožavam takve klišeje i beznadežni sam romantik.

Synopsis:

Darian King has never met a challenge he couldn’t handle. Running a billion-dollar corporation? Piece of cake. Hostile takeovers? A walk in the park. But when his little sister begs him to plan her wedding, Darian finds himself less than prepared for the task. Luckily, he knows just who to ask for help.Allison Reed wants nothing more than to leave King Enterprises behind. Being the personal assistant to a man like Darian is a 24/7 job. Asking her to help plan a wedding is simply the icing on the stress-filled cake but to leave she needs a glowing reference and will do anything to get it. Even plan a wedding with the man of her dreams.

Stepping outside the office has unexpected consequences. Darian doesn’t believe in relationships, yet he’s starting to see Allison in a whole new light. But he doesn’t know her secret, and she fears that by the time the vows are exchanged, she won’t just be leaving her job behind but her heart as well.

My thoughts:

I really enjoyed this story.
The characters were wonderful and well-developed, and the story had me engaged and eager to see what would happen next.
I was cheering for this couple right from the beginning.

I really enjoyed Allison's character. She was strong, intelligent, and loyal (almost to a fault).
She was a great partner for Darian.
Darian (her boss) is brilliant in the boardroom. He's smart, strong, and would do anything for his sister, who he's looked after since his parents were killed when he was a teenager.
At work and in his personal life, he's totally focused and in control.
He doesn't do relationships, nor does he let anyone get too close to him.
He can't risk losing anybody he cares for, so he keeps everyone at a distance.
That is... until he starts planning his sister's wedding, and begins to spend time with Allison outside of work. He's beginning to see her in a new light.
The attraction is mutual.
Allison has been in semi-in-love with Darian since she first started working for him, but being on call for Darian at work 24/7 , and living and breathing work made her realize that she is just a shadow to him.
She's fed up and wants more.
She wants a life.
She wants a partner.
She wants a family.
Her last project before she resigns from Darian's company is to help plan a wedding for Darian's sister.
She decides to take a risk and give into her attraction to Darian because even if it doesn't work out with him, she'll still be leaving.
What she didn't realize was how much she truly loves him.

Their chemistry is off the charts, and they can't seem to get enough of each other.

photo Right Billionaire Wrong Wedding Teaser 4.png

I was the edge of my seat towards the end, and I couldn't seem to read fast enough to see what would happen.
Loved the ending!
Kudos to Ms. Davies for a wonderful start to a new series!

Hold it right there, folks. Reluctant to love doesn’t even begin to describe Darian King, the hero, in this book. If you don’t mind a frustratingly stubborn, doesn’t want to acknowledge true love when he’s already found it, former king of casual/too numerous to count, meaningless encounters with beautiful models/actresses that are frequently referred to, at times hurtful hero just to prove his point, who ultimately ends up pushing the devoted/loyal heroine who’s been infatuated with him for four long years completely out of his life after she confesses her love for him, then by all means, keep reading. This book is definitely for you. If what I said isn’t appealing, well, what to do is pretty obvious. Lay the book down, put your hands up in the air, turn around, and walk away, before your romantic heart gets hurt.

**spoilers possible**

Darian King is determined never to commit/love any woman, because he doesn’t want to risk losing anyone close to him again. Well, isn’t that just too bad for him, my fellow romance book-loving friends, because whether he realizes it or not Allison, his personal assistant, has slowly but surely become the one woman he can’t live without. It literally takes him until the very end of this book though for his heart to convince his head of this very important fact. In the meantime though, he’s quick to use loving type endearment nicknames like “Angel” and “Sweetheart” and get smexy with her in their month long no strings attached final fling. Only Darian doesn’t actually know she’s leaving yet.

Allison has been infatuated with her boss pretty much from day one. I must admit it didn’t sit well with me to discover she’s had to witness Darian’s revolving office door of gorgeous blondes over the years, who have never got him to break his golden rule of no relationships. At least no graphic details are given. When she decides she’s tired of Darian’s 24/7 constant work demands, she finally has had enough and plans to resign. Our doormat heroine though is too afraid to actually turn in her resignation letter. Instead, she allows herself to be roped into helping plan Darian’s sister’s long distance wedding. Upon heeding some advice from her fun loving friend, she decides to throw caution to the wind and offers herself up as a one night stand. After all, what does she have to lose, right? Well, personally I think her dignity and self-respect, but that’s just me, folks. Allison knows she’s leaving soon, and Darian likely won’t even miss her once he’s hired a replacement, so she wants to create a few steamy memories to take along with her.

At 34% into it, with both of them declaring it won’t mean anything and everything will be back to normal on Monday, they give into temptation. You see, he’s been noticing her for some time, as well. With him expecting this to be a one shot deal and her constantly thinking, “I’m not worthy of a rich guy like him”, they end up not being able to keep their thoughts or hands off each other.

At 43%, he admits he still wants her again but is quick to remind her he still never does relationships. In fact, he openly states he won’t ever be her boyfriend. She doesn’t help matters by admitting she can sleep with him without falling in love. She’s the one who suggests a friends with benefits arrangement, btw.

Well, how well does that end up working for her? Not so great. I actually deliberately deleted the rest of this review, because I didn’t want to give away too many spoilers. Let’s just say, if you can endure one sided romantic angst, can put up with a very hurtful at times hero, and don’t mind waiting until the very end to see him grovel, you likely won’t be disappointed. But be warned. He pretty much rips her heart out, stomps on it, hands it to her, then shoves her out the door. At least he gets served a heaping plate of regret and has to somewhat fight to get her back. Not surprisingly she’s forgives pretty easily. Here’s to hoping this fictional character has to spend the rest of his life making it up to her. What can I say? She may not have a vengeful heart, but I sure do. (lol).

Title: Right Billionaire, Wrong Wedding, Author: Victoria Davies, Pages: 216, HEA, some VERY steamy scenes that don’t hijack the storyline, stand-alone, reluctant to love hero, no love triangle, no OM drama, implied previous numerous OW, hurtful at times hero who pushes heroine away, no cheating, heroine feels she’s not worthy to be around rich people.

If you’re looking for a fun, funny billionaire/PA romance look no further - this is a great one!

Darian King is the billionaire CEO who had to grow up quickly after the tragic death of his parents and was responsible for his younger sister. He not only did a great job but also made his fortune in his own company. Now she’s been in touch, asking him to make the necessary arrangements for her wedding and Darian knows just who will help him make it a success - his personal assistant, Allison Reed. Little does he know that she’s planning on leaving her role in his employ for something less stress filled and less time consuming, she wants a life away from the office, even if it means leaving the man she’s secretly loved for years.Wedding planning, however, involves the two interacting more outside the office and on a more personal basis and so this entertaining romantic read commences!

With great characters and a light-hearted story this is a highly entertaining read. There are a few twists and turns along the way so you’re not quite certain how everything will be happily resolved, making this a lovely, heart warming romance to escape into.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this novel without any obligation to read or share my review.

Before I go into my review, I gotta say I'm a little shocked at all the reviews I see that mention Darian's lack of faithfulness. Did I get a different copy than everyone else? Honestly, I have no idea how you can cheat in something that is more a friends with benefits, let's see where it goes than a committed relationship. I may have missed something, but that's what I read ... but I digress ... let's talk a little about this very romantic and sexy read.

This is my first read by Victoria Davies because I don't read PNR and I have to say that I pretty much enjoyed every aspect of this book. It's not anything new and exciting, but her style made it witty and fun. You have the boos/employee trope but somewhat of a twist because they've worked together for years before these feelings arose and the awkwardness of that put a smile on my face. Very low on drama and angst which allowed me to just enjoy these two stumbling from professional roles to friendly roles. YES, the entire thing is predictable, but it was FUN and it was FLIRTY and it was SEXY and I just enjoyed the heck out of it!

Allison has been billionaire Darian’s assistant for four years and her entire life has revolved around being there for him 24/7, with no chance to do anything else, including a personal life. As she decides to quit and find another job, Darian’s sister asks her brother to plan a last minute wedding for her and of course, Ali is there for him. They grow closer, sparks fly and finally, romance happens.

-The Good: As the first Victoria Davies book I’ve ever read, it was a a pretty straightforward boss/assistant romance between Allison and Darian. It’s a trope I thoroughly enjoy and this hits all the right notes and was a relatively quick and easy read. There is some good chemistry between Ali and Darian and there are some good emotional moments, especially when Ali owns up to her feelings and the conflict kicked in.

-The just ok: While not precisely bad, I’d say that it needed a bit more attention paid to building the characters up and fleshing out their little ‘verse. I was never really sure what Darian did to become a billionaire, or what the business (a big part of their relationship) involved. It was a pleasant read, but it could have been even better with a little more depth.

I enjoyed it. If you’re looking for a simple, uncomplicated romance and you have a soft spot for the boss/assistant trope, it’s a decent read.

I REALLY liked this one! It's my first Victoria Davies read and will not be my last!

I've seen reviews that she he cheats on her and I'm here to tell you THERE IS NO CHEATING!!! His previous dating is mentioned, but they are exclusive - even before they define exclusivity.

Darian and Allison have worked together for the last four years. He's the boss, she's his personal assistant. They work long hours together, and not just during the week. He tends to call her on weekends and in the middle of the night. Ali has decided she's had enough and wants a job that will let her have a life outside the office. The thing is, she has a crush on Darian and knows when she leaves the job she will be leaving him. As they plan his sister's wedding, she finally goes for it and kisses him. What follows is a wonderful relationship that he denies is a relationship. When he finally finds out she's leaving the company, he takes it badly and breaks her heart, and his. He makes up for it though and I loved the ending :)

With that catchy title I had to check this one out. I'll be honest I wasn't sure what to expect with this one when I first start reading, the intro sounded like Two Weeks Notice seemingly carries out the same way sort of but with twist. I like this trope and it's done in a straightforward no frills way which is great.

I liked Ali she knows what she wants, goes with her heart and sees the best in people. She's a hard worker, capable and efficient assistant but wants a different pace. Damian successful business man, workaholic, commitment phoebe, good boss. Aside from that he is a caring brother, thoughtful, dirty talker and well stubborn. Having worked with Damian for years, they know each other more than the superficial. They did have chemistry and got along well. Somewhere along the way it gets a bit more than that lines cross and it won't be the same.

Suffice to say when the conflict comes in there was some angst and tension in that, the emotional parts come into play. Their road has a lot of steamy and sweet moments as well. I read some comments that there was cheating and there was none. I think it was explained he had no strings attached, not a player, just good with the ladies.

Something minor things that did bother me was after all that it just wrapped up too fast. All was forgiven after all that heartbreak. I would've liked more fleshed out details but for a quick easy read it's enjoyable enough. It had fun moments, wit, sexy times and romance. This is my first book by Victoria Davies and will sure to watch out for her future works.

Right Billionaire Wrong Wedding by Victoria Davies

After four years working for her slave-driver boss, Allison is working out how to resign. Sure, Darian the Venture Capitalist is sexy hot and they have a great working relationship and she gets to touch his arm and sniff his hair all she wants, but all he ever does is work. And all he ever wants her to do is work. And she is in DEEP DENIAL that she wants him to bend her over the desk and cuddle. And dates: she’s in deep denial that she wants to go on dates and hold hands and have all the romance.

She’s typed up a resignation letter, but it’s still not worded precisely the way she wants, so Allison shoves it into a drawer so that it can be later used against her when the plot reaches its highest point of dramatic tension.

But that’s far in the future, for now: Darian has another job for her. She’s to help him organise his kid sister’s wedding in four weeks. And it’s to be a big proper posh wedding too, with all the trimmings. Won’t that be fun?

I’m not really that interested in wedding planning. I’ll tolerate it more than the bafflingly modern trend for heroines to get incredibly pregnant incredibly quickly, but venues, flowers, food and dresses are deeply unsexy. I only like wedding stuff when the bride is being horrible, on the off chance that the heroine will end up stealing the groom. I both like and am outraged by this plot. Women should have good friendships and men shouldn’t be prizes and all that, but it can be really satisfying when the good girl destroys the horrible one and steals her shiny pretty groom.

There was mention of a binder in use to plan the wedding. This is sexy for anyone with a stationery addiction, but there was no mention of tabbed sections, sticky notes and colour coding, which is a missed opportunity.

This is one of those books where both the heroine and hero are extremely pleasant and likeable. Allison immediately proves that she isn’t a doormat. I like competent people, and while (thankfully) the work itself is kept pretty vague, it’s clear that Allison is actually very good at her job.

And Darian immediately demonstrates that he has a gigantic amount of respect for Allison’s talents. Sure, he’s selfish and driven, but he’s not the usual cranky scary alpha boss. He’s charming. He just forgets that there are hours after work that aren’t actually work hours. And Allison can’t quite complain: she likes being around Darian. They have this really close working relationship and they get on so well.

None of this is particularly ground breaking in the office romance genre, but it works. There’s the moderately slow build as the sexual tension between them comes to a head. Davies handles it really competently. Allison is very insistent that she’s not in love and having sex with her boss is all about physical gratification and friends with benefits and she’s totally down with it, and why is anyone suggesting otherwise? And Darian’s got the nice ordinary commitment phobia stuff to get over because of the tragic family loss in his past.

I like a romance where the couple are clearly and obviously meant for each other, and these two are totally in sync. Probably the only fly in the ointment is that Darian is a workaholic. It’s acknowledged in the book, which if you’re optimistic might indicate that he’ll solve that too. I wasn’t so sure, which meant that the book story didn’t feel completely finished for me.

This was a quick read (which means I finished it in one go and didn’t realise how late it actually got), with charming characters and a competently handled plot.

***ARC Provided by the Publisher and NetGalley***

Sometimes predictable is ok. Sometimes it works. And, when it does, it is because there are characters you like and relate to...as let's admit it, something that seems predictable in a story is sometimes that way because that is how life works.

In this case, life does work that way. I think we have all found ourselves in a friendship, a work relationship, something that we rely on too much. That we give more weight than it should have in our lives. This is exactly where Darian and Allison find themselves. In a work relationship that feels a lot more like a dating relationship. The issue? One of them wants out.

The story opens with Allison writing her resignation letter, she wants a life that is outside of work, one that is not just her boss. Darian can't figure out what he would ever do without her...and he doesn't even know she is resigning.

Is this predictable? Yes. Is it fun? Yes. Is it well written with likable characters, believable situations, and excellent chemistry? Yes. It is a pretty normal office, relationship with the boss, kind of story. The writing and the characters, as I said earlier, set it apart and give it that little something extra,

I recommend this book.

4.5 stars - Boss / executive assistant romance turned friends with benefits romance

Right Billionaire, Wrong Wedding by Victoria Davies is a boss / executive assistant romance turned friends with benefits romance. It is a sweet style romance with a witty undertone that is relatively simple but thoroughly enjoyable for a relaxing kind of read where you know exactly what you will be getting from the book.

Told from dual points of views, Darian and Allison have a strong connection that has developed during their previous four years of working closely together. Using the dual perspectives gives the reader a wider understanding of both characters and their feelings, especially Darian who is still being shaped today by scars in his past. Darian is portrayed as typical billionaire male who enjoys life but isn’t looking to settle down, reasons which become clearer later on in the book, while Allison, on the other hand, is quiet, strong and confident when dealing with Darian but also re-evaluating her life and what she is missing out on with her commitment to working so heavily with Darian. After finding themselves having to work together to help Darian’s sister, the two grow closer and as things heat up in and out of the office, it’s clear that the feelings they have for each other run a lot deeper than originally thought and temporary might just not be enough. The interaction between the two really added to seeing their strong attraction and respect towards each other.

The book has a good witty writing style and steady flow. Yes, it is a little predictable in terms of the plot but, like I said before, sometimes that isn’t a bad thing if you are looking for a more light-hearted read. The book can be read as a standalone with a HEA ending that ties up Allison and Darian’s story.

This is a fairly enjoyable light hearted read with some hot scenes that is the perfect kind of book to read on a lazy day.

Loved the slow burn love, hated that the heroine begged the hero to love her. NO WOMAN should ever have to beg a man to love her. Either he loves her, or he doesn't. Ali should have said her piece, given him the choice, and when he said 'no', she should have moved on without saying another word. Hold your head high and get the hell out of there!

Other than that, the story kept me reading, I enjoyed the playfulness between the H/h, and how the hero slowly came to realize how he felt about Ali. One of my pet-peeves, beside Ali's neediness, is how completely cock-whipped she was. Come on woman! Have some damn self-respect! Sure, the sex is great, but that doesn't mean you need to get wet when someone mentions his name. Ugh.

Anyway. Good story. I enjoy a fun Victoria Davies read.

I loved this book, and then I didn't, and then I waffled between the two. Then I loved it again. It's a great book and a great story.
The story starts with Allison who has worked for Darian King, self made billionaire for 4 years as his executive assistant; right and left arm, on call 24/7. It opens with her trying to write a letter of resignation. She's done, she wants normal. Summoned to his office with the command "office, now" she goes in and handed an email from his sister announcing her upcoming nuptials and since she's out of the country hands it off to him to prepare for her. Cue hire a wedding planner. Darian being who he is, cannot do this alone, so he gets Allison involved. She warns him that with only a month to prepare they would be hard pressed to find a planner much less the perfect venue all the elaborate details a wedding entails. After going through the motions he decides "they" can handle this, which means mainly Allison. So added to her normal overburdened work load, she's planing a wedding. He's agreed to help, as so she does enlist him to do so. He's involved and they make some of the major decisions together. Gillian is a co-worker of Allison who helps her in the office and also likes to offer her unsolicited opinion on how she sees Darian and Allison, which I might add changes from day to day(according to Gillian) I'm not a fan of Gillian. She's antagonistic to the point of being obnoxious and not in a good friend way, and gets involved when and where she doesn't need to be.
Things heat up between Darian and Allison. Darian doesn't do relationships, in part which he uses his history as an excuse. He and his sister Jenny lost their parents when they were young. He raised Jenny. He refuses to get involved at risk of losing, and that's only one of his excuses. And while he tells Allison this and she agrees, the internal dialogue from both of them speaks to the contrary. We see the internal dialogue throughout the book, which I also liked. Great insight, especially with him.
And as a every other story has it's moment of "oh hell no", this one does as well. A week before the wedding Darian is looking for something on her desk and opens her drawer and finds the letter. He's enraged. When she returns back from getting them snacks, he blasts her. Then fires her. She leaves, with the words, you've made the biggest mistake of your life. Yup buddy did you ever. His behavior toward her, not even allowing her to get two words in and when he did he went in for the kill shot, just frosted my fanny. All the nice things about him throughout the story were wiped off the board in one simple paragraph. True colors fly above all else. I can run through my list of adjectives that describe him but won't waste the time. I loved Allison, I felt bad for her, yet she seemed to be okay through most of this. His sister tried to intervene at this end and Allison held her ground refusing to discuss Darian but was still onboard with the wedding. This was a woman who followed through with her commitments.
She does decide to go to the wedding, just to make sure things go okay and in hopes to speak to Darian to at least salvage their long term friendship. She also knows if that's not possible she's good with it. She was an interesting character I must say and Victoria did a great job writing her. She had depth and a maturity, while also having a sharp wit and very bright. I really liked her. Darian as I said was also a likable slob until the last bit. Was he redeemable? That's for you to decide. What happens at the wedding? You have to read the book!
The story was well written, we get some backstory, the internal dialogue was perfect and the witty banter rounded it all out. We see this trope a lot, but this story was so much more than the typical billionaire wedding story that has been way overdone.
Well done Victoria! I highly recommend this one.

For four years Allison has been Darian King's personal assistant. Her entire life has revolved around Darian and his business. There has been virtually no "personal" time. Late office hours, calls on the weekend, and three am pow wow sessions are the norm. Allison is through. She wants out. She decides to start looking for another job. Then Darian's sister asks him to plan her last minute wedding while she's abroad. Allison has always been there to help, so she decides she will do this and then leave.

As they are planning the wedding, Ali's feeling intensify. She's always been attracted to Darian, she just would never acknowledge it. Darian finally see Ali in a different light. One night Ali decides to take a chance and kiss Darian. What does she got to lose? She's going to leave anyway-why not indulge. At least that's what she tells herself.

Darian is surprised but then wants Ali. They decide a one night stand will sate their hunger. Wrong. They then morph into some type of friends with benefits arrangement. But that's not really what's going on either. Darian is reluctant to give them a label. He is afraid of losing another person so he tries to keep Ali at a comfortable distance. But then he can't keep that distance himself. He wants more and more of her.

Well I am not a real fan of Darian. Ali put herself on the line over and over for him and he never really gave her the accolades she deserved. Then he does this whole push me pull me thing with her feelings. Yes I want you for myself-but I can't have a relationship. He was in a freakin' relationship! It took till the very end for him to have that light bulb moment. I just wanted to slap him silly!

Now Ali was also a little naïve about what was really happening too. She's pretty much been Darian's doormat the whole time she's been with his company. Gosh girl! You deserve better that's for sure. She slowly changes his idea of them and she's at least honest with him when she needed to be.

This was an ok read for me. It seemed to wrap of rather suddenly and I thought Ali needed to make Darian work for her a bit more. I also felt it would've felt more finished if we were treated to an epilogue.

3 stars/ 3.5 flames

This sexy office romance did everything I wanted it to. Darian is rich, smart and a little oblivious when it comes to romance, while Allison is capable, competent and smart enough to run his life and steal his heart without either of them noticing.

Darian is driven and determined, has a no commitments rule and is devoted to his sister. He takes Allison completely for granted, knowing that she’s an indispensable part of his life, without ever really showing his appreciation for all she does. Despite occasionally feeling a spark of attraction towards her, he’s also keen not to step over the line because he doesn’t want to lose her. Then comes the request that he organise his sister’s wedding and, well, you can guess where things head from here.

Allison is determined to leave Darian because she wants a life beyond work, but she can’t find the courage to tell him. She doesn’t want to lose him from her life, but she knows outside of work they have no relationship. So she agrees to organise the wedding as one last favour, without telling him that she’ll be leaving after.

Their relationship is pretty hot, and they make an excellent team. But of course things are far from smooth between them. Darian has issues and Allison is keeping a secret. This book is not full of surprises, you can probably guess what happens, although I do feel there could have been a few more apologies on both sides.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this. It’s everything I’d expect from this sub-genre with plenty of heat as well. If this sort of office romance is your escapism-fodder of choice, then you should definitely find plenty to enjoy here. I’ll be keeping an eye out for more from this series of sexy billionaires.

Thank you Entangled Publishing for the ARC copy!

After all the heavy reading that I've done for the past week, this book was exactly what I needed! A perfect light reading to go with a fun, bubbly mood, but can also induce slight tears if you have a weak, emotional heart like mine :p

Allison has been working as Darian's personal assistant for four whole years, she knew him like the back of her hand and vice versa. As much as she loved her job, she decided that it's time for a change. Through the years, her never ending responsibilities (Darian) had demanded her life. Countless late nights and living on takeouts was not the kind of life that Allison envisioned for her future. Just when she decided to tender her resignation, she was handed with an impossible task - planning for a wedding in under a month! It will be her last project, but would it also be her last chance to convince Darian of love?

For a light read, I really loved the underlying theme of the story. Allison was such a refreshing change! What I expected was a sappy romance, but Darian and Allison surprised me in the end. I loved how dedicated Darian was towards making a living for his sister, I also loved how Allison has the courage to choose what's best for her (God knows how tough it is to leave our comfort zone). The romance was steamy, the conversation was funny, this is a contemporary romance at its best.

Aside from the plain cover, the book was a 5/5 for me. Such a sweet, romantic read!

This is a simple and straightforward storyline - he's the boss, she's his assistant. She's about to resign when she's asked to help plan his sister's wedding. Without telling him her plans, she thinks of it as one last task and then she can find the slower paced life she wants with a less demanding job. They give into their attraction and feelings and start a friends with benefits "relationship." He doesn't do relationships because he's afraid to lose people he's cared about (his parents died when he was young and he raised his sister). Some of the other reviewers mentioned OW, but it is a monogamous friends with benefits arrangement. Since she's worked for him for 4 years, there is a brief mention he's dated women over those years, but no details and nothing surprising since they weren't involved or heading that way at the time. Basically, nothing that triggered anything for me. Of course, she has deeper feelings for him and he's not ready to give in to his for her. You know where it's headed and the climax was satisfying for me. He's bitingly hurtful, but struggling with his emotions while she puts herself out there and takes a chance. He later comes crawling back and I was satisfied with the ending. Overall, I enjoyed the connection and friendship between Darian and Allison the most.

Allison Reed has been working as Darian King’s assistant for years. She is on call 24/7 and while she loves her job, she also wants more out of life. She is ready to quit working for King Enterprise the only problem is, how will she tell her boss? Darian is given the ultimate challenge in planning his little sister’s wedding in a little under a month. He knows that the only way to make that happen is with the help of his ever loyal assistant. Allison makes a deal with herself to help Darian this one last time and then tell him her plans to leave. Allison knows that Darian isn’t the commitment type and she’s harbored a crush on him for years, so with know she will be leaving soon she can’t help but want to cross those professional lines. Things between Darian and Allison heat up and plan to have a friends with benefits arrangement. Though when feelings get involved then it starts to get messy. What makes matters worse is then Darian finally finds out Allison is leaving Kings Enterprise and in his eyes leaving him too. I really enjoyed this book and I would give it 4.5 stars. It was a well written story with the right amount of build and intensity. I love when a book makes me feel invested in the main characters story and this book definitely did that.

Allison has been billionaire Darian’s assistant for four years which meant she was there, on call for him 24/7 when she wasn’t working for him. She didn’t have a personal life and she finally decided enough was enough and realized it was time to move on and find out what it was like to be happy. As she decides to quit and find another job, Darian’s sister asks her brother for help in planning a last minute wedding for her- her last minute wedding which means Alison helps. As the story progresses you can see how Ali has this crush on her boss and how she feels it’s unrequited . During their time together planning the wedding, I can pick up on the vibes they have around each other and I feel how her boss wants her yet he is afraid to take that final step to admit that need, that want. Oh the path to love and happiness in this romance book was paved with angst, heartache and pain but the end result, well it has happiness, love and passion. I really enjoyed this story and the MC interaction and word play around each other.

My rating: 4.0 stars ****

I loved this one! It was refreshing to read a story with a very successful powerful man who didn't dictate to his employees or walk around with an air of entitlement. Darian King was a self made billionaire who cares deeply for the ones he loves. That's not say he can't be tough and ruthless when the need arises. He's a commitment phobe to the core but when his sister asks for his help organizing her wedding what can he do. Well, call in his already overworked assistant of course. Allison Reed knows it's time for a change. Late nights working and having very little time for a social life is not what she had planned for her life yet that's exactly where she was. She intends to quit as Darian King's assistant but just hasn't found the right way to tell him yet. Then the last straw is pulled. He wants her help planning his sisters upcoming rush wedding. She decides that's enough. She'll complete this last task and that's it. Or is it????

This was a fun relaxing read that was filled with humor, passion, and love. An excellent read that I recommend to everyone.

Darian King doesn’t know the first thing about organizing a wedding, so when his sister asks him to plan hers, the only person Darian can turn to for help is his very trustworthy assistant, Allison Reed. The thing is, Darian knows mixing business with pleasure is wrong, but there’s something about Allison that attracts him to her. But what happens when he learns the secret she’s been trying so desperate to hide. Will their love survive, or will Darian ruin any chance he has at happy ever after? Read More

I really enjoyed this book for the first half. But by the second half I felt it began dragging and getting repetitive. I don't *think* it's just me - but I wanted to know HOW they get together - to see HOW THEY'LL *WORK.*

I know they're office compatible, and sexually compatible, but how will the RELATIONSHIP work. They keep saying how yes they've worked together for four years but they only know each other in a professional capacity and how there are so many other aspects to their personality they don't know.
Which ... true.
They have spent a LOT of time together in close proximity - Allison and Darian work pretty much all hours. I'm glad Allison has decided at the beginning of the book to leave her job and find one that allows her to have a better work/life balance. Or you know, a life at all.

Darian is quite sweet albeit a bit clueless ... and it takes his sister to set him straight - which thank goodness cuz otherwise like ... geez his sister is kinda (super) shitty? Like I get she appreciates her brother but damn him having to plan HER ENTIRE WEDDING while she's ~galivanting overseas...

Anyway Allison and Darian clearly have had chemistry and finally Allison feels free to act on it - but like I said after the ~50% it was like "ok more sex but - they're only physical. Show me the emotional." Like when Darian goes to wait for Allison outside the club to explain things.
They do really try to push/keep the "we're friends with benefits and nothing more - no love."
(It doesn't seem that Darian was ever in therapy and ... really, he needs it. Hopefully Allison realizes that and convinces him to go - but will she? Who knows.)

The ending was O_O ... fitting for them, but O_O

So ... overall I liked it but I felt it kinda petered a bit. I'm definitely interested in reading more from Victoria Davies though.

C- overall

Darian King has the attitude of in it to win it with anything that he comes across. It's stood him well while running a billion dollar corporation. But when his little sister begs him to plan a wedding for her, he finds himself a bit challenged, but he knows just who to ask for help. Allison Reed has been Darian's assistant for years now, and it's been a consistently 24/7 job. She's at the point to where she wants to branch out and do new things, but she hasn't worked up the nerve to give him notice. So when he begs her to take his sister's wedding, her guilt has her doing one more job for him. Although she would never allow herself to go there, as they start really spending time together planning this event, Allison finally realizes that she's in love with her boss, and the kicker, Darian is falling for her. Will Allison's giving notice ruin everything that is developing?!

This story had a different twist to the rich hottie love stories that are everywhere, and I enjoyed it. The character development is good, with an entertaining cast of secondaries. I did have some issues bonding with Darian at the beginning, but the more the story went on, he seriously grew on me. Victoria Davies' talented writing style is attention grabbing, provided all the girly girl dramatic emotional feels, and will have the reader rooting for the couple's HEA. Plus, she did with an original twist. This is the first story that I've read by her, and it certainly won't be my last! Bottom line, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this sweet, original story!
