When Bradley refuses to take Veronica to his cousin's wedding, she finds herself in the company of the charming and attractive Ian. There is no denying that Veronica and Ian have an intense, mutual attraction which draws them together like magnets. But what neither of them realizes is that their attraction isn't the only thing pulling them together. It is a small world, and it’s about to get a whole lot smaller when an innocent fling turns into an intricate plan to conspire.
J.B. McGee is a mother, wife, and the Amazon Top 100 author of the best selling This Series. Amazon Crossing acquired the German rights to her debut novel, Broken. Heartfall, her coming of age novel about a bullied ballerina, is a #1 best seller in the Teen and Young Adult Performing Arts genre. Skipping Stones, a military romance about a young woman strongly influenced by her faith and her family all the while searching for her true love, is a #1 best seller in Women's Christian Fiction.
When J.B.'s not writing, she enjoys reading as well as watching and live-chatting her favorite television shows with her friends. Her favorite shows are Quantico, Blindspot, Grey’s Anatomy, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, Below Deck, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Scandal (mainly because of her love of Scott Foley).
Born and raised in Aiken, South Carolina, she attended Converse College and eventually earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from The University of South Carolina-Aiken in 2006.
In college, she was told by her children’s literature professor she would be the one student from her class to be an author. McGee shook her head and laughed. But in 2012, over six years after that statement was made and after a love of reading had been reignited, she gave writing a shot. J.B. gladly ate crow when she emailed her first book to the above mentioned children’s literature professor thanking her and acknowledging the accuracy of her prophecy.
In 2011, it was discovered that not only do both of her children, but also she and her husband, have mitochondrial disease. Affecting 1 in 2500 people, it has no cure or treatments. Being a writer allows J.B. to care for her family’s unique needs while also providing a platform for raising awareness for this disease.
She is a hopeless romantic who loves to escape into fairy tales—some she reads and some she creates.
J.B. McGee and her family now reside in Buford, Georgia.
Let me begin by saying that Conspiring is a must read, as it completely adds to the remarkable reading experience of the This series by J. B. McGee. In Broken and Mending, I loved Gabby and Bradley and wanted their relationship to go farther and work, but I absolutely hated Ian, and Veronica was someone I wanted to fall off the pages of the book and never be seen nor heard from again. Well, J.B. McGee managed to turn the tables on this little fantasy of mine by twisting and warping my emotions and every thought I had of Ian and Veronica with the novella, Conspiring. I have entered the Twilight Zone. I can't believe I'm writing this, but I loved Ian in Conspiring, and Veronica managed to win me over quickly...until I didn't like her again. Who do I now dislike? Bradley! Yes, my former book boyfriend has now become my nemesis. Conspiring is the story of Veronica and Ian, and what a story it is! So, what has made me fall in love with the villain and villainess of this series?
We get the entire back story of the relationship (for lack of a better word) between Ian and Veronica as told in Veronica's point of view. All of Veronica's thoughts and feelings are on display to tear at my heart and emotions. The story opens with Bradley, the successful and handsome CEO and architect, meeting Veronica, the beautiful and successful attorney, at Joe's for the first time and both are expecting nothing more than a pick-up to feed their needs of being with someone physically. I connected so easily with Veronica and felt such pity for her as she faithfully continued to attend her semi-weekly "appointments" with Bradley. As the Wednesday and Saturday appointments continue for more than a year, Veronica begins to develop deep feelings for Bradley, but he doesn't return those feelings. In fact, he never makes her feel more like his whore than when he refuses to take her to his cousin's wedding in Charleston. It's not as if he hasn't been up front with Veronica from the beginning, but to make matters worse, he issues an ultimatum to her. Veronica never wanted to fall in love with anyone and quickly denies her feelings for Bradley until she realizes that the pain in her heart truly is the love she feels for this man.
As a woman who thrives on routine, Veronica's world is upset with Bradley's absence while he is in Charleston, leaving her alone. Upon Bradley's return from Charleston, Veronica's fears come to life, and his mistreatment toward her reaches a new level; talk about your wham bam thank you mam...this is it! Thanks to her good friend, Val, she is whisked away for a night of fun, and Veronica finally realizes that she must try to get Bradley out of her heart and mind. Enter Ian.
Ian is the handsome soccer player I first met in Broken. When Ian first sees Veronica at Joe's bar, he is immediately attracted to her and vice versa. He is also the perfect distraction for Veronica, helping to put Bradley out of mind and [hopefully] heart. The chemistry between Ian and Veronica is amazing. They are so good together and the physical attraction is only the beginning. They immediately connect and realize that they have something special, but Veronica doesn't want it to go farther. In fact, neither of them are looking for any type of relationship, but one quickly develops when Veronica becomes sick. During this scene, I see Ian as I've never envisioned him before...even while he was with Gabby in Broken. He is caring, considerate, and kind to Veronica; something she has been lacking with Bradley. In fact, Ian is everything Bradley is not. Ian wants to continue to see Veronica, but she is still having difficulty getting over Bradley, dismissing Ian as a one-night stand....until she needs him and he is there for her as a knight in shining armor.
My emotions while reading this book were all over the place. I am so conflicted! I loved Bradley in the first two books of the This series, so the sudden dislike for him took me by complete surprise. I wanted to slap him so hard for making Veronica feel like the dirt beneath his shoes when she genuinely cared for him. He toyed with her emotions and used her body with complete disregard to her heart. However, I still remember how he is with Gabby and still love him for that. Conflicted? Oh, yes. And how the heck did J.B. McGee make me love Ian?! Well, she did! She has truly taken my emotions and twisted them into something I don't even recognize and am not sure how to acknowledge.
The last chapter of the book is Ian's point of view, and this no-longer-the-villain-but-now-my-beloved-book-hero actually tore at my heart strings. My heart is broken for him, but at the same time I want to shake him and tell him to not give up on who and what he wants without a fight. But he feels so inferior to Bradley, he is like a little puppy dog walking away with his tail tucked between his legs. And the epilogue! Oh. Em. Gee. I recognize the epilogue as one of those pivotal scenes from Mending, but it now gives me an entirely new feeling toward the characters in all three books. It is so fitting to be placed as the epilogue here. What my mind originally believed to be deceit and selfishness on Ian's part has now warped into believing the most unselfish act of love from Ian, bringing about a huge conspiracy that threatens to wreck any happy ever after for all four main characters in the series.
Conspiring is the book that brings understanding to the events of the other books in the series. However, to get the true emotional feel for the series, I strongly suggest reading the books in order. Kudos to J.B. McGee for writing a story that is surely to climb the charts to be one of the best. The writing is fluent, there is a level of steam in this book unseen in the others, and I can't wait to see how the story continues for Gabby, Bradley, Veronica, and Ian.
Thank you to J.B. McGee for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I finished this book in 1 day, I loved it, JB you have out did yourself again, its got sexier and sexier by the minute, I like the fact your gave us Ian point of view nice to see what he is thinking, I really can't wait for your next book forgiven need a Bradley fix now I've read this book :) lol
SO, I feel like I can't give many details about this edition as it could lead to spoilers on what's going on in the story. This book in the series gives evil Veronica and creeptastic Ian's POV's.
I must say getting in Veronica's head definitely made me feel a little sorry for her. I mean clearly Bradley has only ever seen her as a F. Buddy. But since this buddy system has been going on for over a year, Veronica has developed feelings for Bradley and has started to want more. However he only sees her as his Wed/Sat appointment. When it comes time for him to go to the wedding he meets Gabby at, she asks to come along, but he refuses and tell her he doesn't date, and doesn't want to have to answer questions from his family. This breaks Veronica's heart, leading her to decide he's probably hooking up with someone at the wedding so she will too, which in a crazy twist of fate ends up being IAN....
"Do you want to get a cab and go someplace where I can make love to you all night?"
I must say this installment was the first one to actually bring in more steam, and I LOVE IT!!! I liked getting in Ian's head as well. It made me not hate him quiet as much. I mean, he will never be with Gabby again, but I actually like him and Veronica together and....hope things work out. I will say again people, this series has me all kinds of hooked. With all of the twists and turns I'm hanging on every word....
I had the privlidge of seeing this book in the making as a Beta reader and I have to say J.B. McGee has a HIT on her hands with this Novella.
This little book adds so much to the story that you didn't see in Broken & Mending. Gabby and Bradley had their fare share of issues with Ian and Vernoica in the last book Mending. I wanted to strangle Veronica for coming between my beloved couple.
When this book started I had a hatred for Veronica as pure Evil. I can say that I don't hate her nearly as much now at the end of this addition to "This" series. The roller coaster of emotions is endless right up till the very last line of the book!
J.B. has done an amazing job giving us a different side of Veronica and Ian. Veronica is more humble and needy then she comes across in Mending. She has a need to be loved and apprciated as we all do and you really see a different side to her throughout this book. She isn't quite as calculating as I thought she would be.
As the last chapter of the book comes from Ian's POV I even found myself liking him after all he has done I have a new found appreciation for him being someone who wants to change and make things right. As this side of him unfolded, he tugged at my heart in the end...
I have no doubt that this book will delight readers as much as it did me. I know that this will be a big hit in this series!
I loved this installment of the This series! I was nearly tricked into having some actual feelings for Veronica & Ian...almost. Then we were brought back to Gabby's apartment - and the conspiracy to get Veronica's claws in to Bradley and Ian to get Gabby all comes back to you.
I was also so pleased to get a taste of Mr. Banks, oh how I missed him....But this story was that of how Veronica found herself in Joe's that night of the wedding - and then beneath Ian of all people later that night.
Hurt that Bradley doesn't seem to want more than a casual fuck buddy relationship from Veronica she gives in and allows her attraction to a stranger at the bar to develop. You feel somewhat bad for Veronica at this point - I mean ladies, who would not fall in love with Mr. Banks? She spots Ian's blue eyes first, they dance, they rub/grind and then they are in the cab to her place. Their chemistry was mad hot and sexy as hell. He was not an asshat at this point. He was sweet and you actually wanted her to see that he was a good choice.
Fast Forward.....Veronica's pregnant and outside of Bradley's apartment....then we all know the story from this point. This is where any feelings of kindness fade away.
I will be impatiently waiting for the next installment.
Sent as an ARC for an honest review by the author. I loved Broken & Mending and couldn't wait fo this novella because I wanted to know more about Ian and Veronica and how they came to be together. I wanted to know how on earth they met and worked out the Bradley/Gaby connection. And this book did not disappoint, once I started and got past my inate hate for Veronica, which was no small feat mind you, I couldn't put the book down.
Mending made me hate Veronica, pinning the pregnancy on Bradley when she knew it was not his was low, and not something I would ever respect in a character or a person in real life, but somehow, the author made me see past that. Don't get me wrong, I still don't like her, but I have somehow softened my view towards her. She was still in love with Bradley and wanted the life she knew he could provide for her child, she never expected him to do a complete 180 and commit to someone else after telling her he never wanted to commit to anyone.
Ian met Veronica, was hot, sweet and caring, and fell in love with her. After a freak out when she told him she was pregnant with his child, he tried to get her back.
Can't wait until the next installment in the series, Forgiven, which will end Bradley and Gaby's story then Falling, the conclusion of Veronica and Ian's story.
It is no secret that I am a die-hard fan of the amazing J.B. McGee. She captured me with her gentle Southern charm in her first book and has kept me captivated with her This series. I have enjoyed watching her grow from good to great and now amazing, and I look forward to many years of reading her books. If you haven't read Broken and Mending, I can't stress to you how much you need to. J.B. weaves a steamy hot and sexy thread through her books and still somehow maintains an edge of innocence that just grabs at you.
In Conspiring, we learn the story behind Ian and Veronica. I detested these two, for very good reasons but now, to a certain degree, I understand what drives them. Ian is the reason that Gabby becomes Broken. Bradley works hard at Mending Gabby because of the destruction that Veronica sets in motion. These two seem to wreak havoc in other peoples lives and really do deserve each other.
I am looking forward to Falling to see how how Ian and Veronica's story ends. I think I may end up liking them, but only time will tell!
I really enjoyed the first two books and think the writing itself has improved greatly since Broken. I can't put my finger on it, the flow just seems so much more fluid and easy to read. The characters came across really well from the words. J.B. has always given us both Bradley and Gabby's POV, and I've always loved that split seeing things from both sides, but here there's almost a twist which I think is perfect!! J.B. has taken the two characters we've grown to hate and thrown our previous opinions on their head! The scenes between these two had me fascinated by how I was reacting. I was turning tail and feeling a little for those I'd previously decided to hate. I then found I was even liking them as I was seeing their relationship with each other grow. By the end I was dumbfounded because I was hating them all over again LOL My only frustration was I found there were the repeated scenes, but could see why they were needed. You did get another perspective, but the wordings were very close to the originals. So close that it didn't always feel it was from a new set of eyes. I'd like to have seen the scene where Ian found out about the pregnancy rather than just his brief description in the car. Where's the next going to take us? Can't wait!!
This story about Veronica and Ian left me breathless.... I was left with some crazy mixed feelings that kept changing as I kept reading. I loved every minute of it! Wow this book also gets Steamy and Hot, felt I needed a moment or two to myself.... So many questions are answered but boy did it leave me wanting to know so much more too! I still love Bradley yes he didn't treat Veronica right and darn straight he should have contacted her, but he always made it clear to Gabby he had been a player and treated women wrong in his past so I expected no less and Gabby had shown him the light, ask for Veronica I feel sorry for her in some ways but she made me so mad in others, now Ian I hate that he is so sure of himself but at the same time he is caring and realises he did so wrong and I feel for him he wants to do his best by Veronica but not after being a total ass yet I still fell angry with him about Gabby no matter how sorry he feels for what he did, this book will leave you wanting so much more I can promise you that! Thank you J.B McGee x
I finally read it. To be brutally honest what they have Ian and Roni is something really special. And I really think Ian is totally in love with Roni. I won't blame Roni for what he did with Bradley, she really wants the idea of being together but I think her heart really belongs to Ian now. I'm so happy to know their side of their story. I try to re read Mending again for the 2nd time to relive all the things happen when Roni shows up up Bradley that day.
I really hope the upcoming series they will still include Ian and Roni story till the end. I felt bad and happy at the same time for both of them BUT I'm hoping their story will blossom in the upcoming months.
J.B. McGee you did it again!!!! Congratulations! I really hope "Forgiven" will release soon. I wanted to fell in love again or Bradley and Gabby all over again.
Finally! It seemed like forever till I got to read about Gabby and Bradley! Well I am still waiting patiently because this story was a great refresher to help me with my withdrawals. I wasn’t sure at first how I would grasp the idea of reading about Veronica and Ian’s story because I’ve read Gabby and Bradley’s side of the events. However, I must say I really enjoyed about how they came to meet and become a couple! I could sympathize with Veronica’s pain over losing Bradley (or her loss because she never really had him) and her way of coping. On the opposite side, I felt like I was cheating a little bit because I realized how likeable Ian is, despite all the drama he caused for Gabby.
This is a definite must read for those who are anticipating the next installment of the This series! You won’t be disappointed; it’s a short story that will certainly satisfy your cravings!
I started this book a few hours ago and I simply couldn't put it down. I am ashamed to say I haven't read the other two books in the This Trilogy, although they are both bought and waiting on my Kindle. I am blown away by JB McGee's characters Ian and Veronica. I thought I felt the chemistry between Bradley and Veronica but nothing compares to the connection between Ian and her! Ian, ahh what is there to say about him other than he is a picture perfect vision of what a male should be. Sweet sexy and attentive. I am so excited to give her other books a go now while waiting on the second instalment in this novella series! This is a must read people :)
Loved this insight into Veronica, Ian and Bradley. Whilst I hated Veronica in the last book, I could understand where she was coming from, however the person that I could not understand was Ian. How he could he go along with it. One thing that I was confused with one minute was all OK next minute she was 7 months pregnant, it seemed to jump without warning. I cannot wait to see how life pans out for Veronica and Ian though.
I was able to finish the book in one afternoon. I have to admit it took me one day to actually get the courage to read it cause I hate Veronica & Ian but the storyline was cute. Looking forward to reading more about Gabriela's & Bradley's happily ever after & even Veronica's, Ian's, & their baby. Here's hoping they make it right for their baby after all the sex chemistry is already there ❤
Okay, I have to say this HOLY hotness!!! I was provided an ARC of Conspiring in exchange for an honest review! I have to say I was pretty excited about this one cause I heard it got "steamy" Oh I was looking forward to some "steamy"! What I wasn't expecting was to actually end up liking, well kind of but okay I do, Veronica & Ian! I literally was......
Conspiring is again told in two different POV BUT it's all PRESENT! Oh we get to see how Veronica and Bradley first met and boy oh boy, if I was the one that met Bradley that night at Joe's bar I would've done this....
We get the first meeting and then BAM Bradley leaves for the wedding in Charleston! Veronica appears to have some feeling's for Mr. Playboy that weren't reciprocated! She tried to finagle an invite, "date", to the wedding but the ever so honest Bradley flat out shot her down! Veronica was.........................................................
So out Veronica goes to Joe's one Saturday night with her BFF! She's had a few drinks, getting her groove on and who does she meet? Ian YES THAT FREAKING IAN... Talk about shocking but hey Ian is Mr. Hot Pants ;) So we experience Veronica & Ian meeting, leaving and well..........
The next morning we get to see a part of both characters that we don't see in Mending. Veronica bless her heart kinda sorta admitting she doesn't want to be alone, but does she realize WHO she wants to be with? and Ian showing that he can be caring! Bradley obviously returns and we know who he met at the wedding but did he afford Veronica the permanent goodbye she at least derserved? Um, read the book ;)
Conspiring is a Novella so it's a quick, hot, sexy read with a little ~ cough ~ cough Conspiring :) I can't give you the whole book but I can give you a fast trip into my mind! I start by doing this..............
that turns into.......................
oh a little of this................
some of this ................
then a little more this............
and then this.......................
I have to tell you I can't WAIT to see where this all ends up! Who ends up with who? Is it supposed to be that way? Will they learn the error of their ways even if they "kid" themselve's into believing it was for a good cause, sheeshhh!!! I'm hoping Forgiven will answer some of these questions for me but I don't think ALL of them will be answered until later in the series!
JB, girl I'm mighty, mighty, mighty impressed! You've been hiding that smexy writing from us ;) This one is 5 +++ stars! Oh I've seen a side to JB's writing now that I'm certainly going to be expecting NOTHING less from here on out! Perfect amount of description, opportunity to try and redeem those who don't appear to be redeemable and enough at the end to leave the reader salivating for more! Congratulations J.B. by far MY FAVORITE book in the This Series thus far!!!!
There is something about characters that I love to hate that I just can't get enough of......and let's be honest, I have a love/hate relationship with Ian and Veronica, but yet I enjoyed their story almost more than Bradley and Gabby's...okay maybe I just secretly love them. 4.5 stars
We finally get the story between Ian and Veronica. Most is told in Veronica's POV but we do get a touch of Ian's POV at the end. Finally I could understand Veronica better and I really felt her emotions and connected so easily with her. After Bradley, the handsome, rich, CEO continue's to use Veronica for their weekly "appointments" and won't make any more commitment, Veronica's feelings are hurt and she feels used, she heads out for a night on the town and just happens to run into none other than Ian. Ian and Veronica share a mutual physical attraction and an instant connection that leads to a night spent within each others arms. The steam factor is majorly turned up in Conspiring and I absolutely loved it! The events that lead up to Veronica showing up at Bradley's and Ian arriving at Gabby's are revealed. Ian and Veronica are perfect for each other and this novella just proves it! I really hope we get more of their story!
J.B.'s writing style and ability to suck me in to her stories just keeps getting better and better, and she does not disappoint with Conspiring. Conspiring is the perfect companion novel to bring clarity to the events of Broken and Mending and tide us over until Forgiven's April release.
I was provided an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
So you all know that I am a huge fan of the This series by J.B. McGee. Ms. McGee recently released the third installment in the series, the novella, Conspiring.
Conspiring is Veronica and Ian story. We were introduced to these two characters in Mending and I am so happy that Ms. McGee decided to share a little more insight into these two important characters. I must say that after learning more about Veronica , I really don’t like her! She is a real piece of work! As for Ian, I didn’t like him in Mending but after learning more about him, as much as he is a total asshat, I felt sorry for him!
Conspiring is a very quick and easy read but don’t let that fool you into thinking that there is no substance to this read. I loved the glimpse we were given into Bradley in his earlier days, sadly it made me want more of him. I really can’t wait for Forgiven! One thing that Conspiring has that the others in the series have not had... HOLY HOTNESS! J.B. McGee is great at creating sexual tension but this time around she has delivered a very hot read to the reader.
If you have been following the This series by J.B. McGee you will not be disappointed with Conspiring. If you have not yet read the This series by J.B. McGee make sure to add it to your TBR :-)
Conspiring was not anything like what I expected and I say that in a good way. I was SHOCKED!!! JB really blew me away with the path this story took plus the sex scenes. I was quick to tell her that I enjoyed those surprising steamy scenes and I want MORE!!!
This story gives you answers to some of the unanswered questions from Mending. It is the story of how Veronica and Ian played into Mending’s story. I enjoyed reading their story because things happened so much different than what I was picturing in my head. I actually felt sorry for Veronica :( The poor girl was in love and got nothing in return, but her heart broken. Although, Bradley did warn her going in as to what his expectations were. But, as for Ian, he got exactly what he deserved!!!! Still don’t like him.
This story is short and so I can’t go into much detail without ruining it. But I can tell you that, just like her other stories, I enjoy her writing style and so easily got sucked into it. As I said before, the sex scenes were WOW! Her other books were very PG13 but this one was far from it, so beware if you are not looking for sexy scenes :)
I highly recommend it but make sure you read Broken and Mending first.
JB McGee’s writing keeps getting better! I have enjoyed the ‘This’ series so far with Broken and Mending and feel like I keep getting pulled deeper and deeper into the story. Conspiring takes a little spin off from the Mending novel where we meet Ian and Veronica. Author McGee takes us deeper into the background of the stories making up the ‘This’ series and additional layers are built for the characters. With Conspiring I have actually felt a small change of heart towards these two characters who I was steadfastly despising in Mending. Although a novella, or in between the series book, it packs a punch and reads like a full blown story. The steam factor is turned up. This story, although a quick read, was one I could not put down. We get a bit of a behind the scenes look at Bradley from the first two books in the series and what a glimpse it was! If you’ve been following this series, then this is a must and if you haven’t yet tried out the ‘This’ series, then be sure to put it on your to read list. From the beginning, I was hooked by JB McGee’s writing and she hasn’t disappointed me yet. Give it a try! 4.0
Conspiring is a companion novella to Broken and Mending. I suggest that you read the books in order- Broken, Mending, and then Conspiring. In Conspiring, you learn more about Veronica and Ian, whereas in Broken and Mending, the main focus is on Gabby and Bradley. I have to say that I have been anxious for this novella because I needed to know what happened between Veronica and Ian and how they "conspired" to get involved between Gabby and Bradley. After reading Broken and Mending, I really hated Veronica and Ian for what they did. But I have to say that I really like them together because I think they have the same type of chemistry that Gabby and Bradley have. JB really delivered with Broken and Mending, I LOVED them. She continues with her amazing writing in Conspiring. I can't wait for the third book, Forgiven to be released in April so I can find out what happens with Gabby and Bradley. I definitely recommend this series! I promise you'll love it!
"Conspiring" is a very short novella but it was entertaining. It's Ian and Veronica's story. I thought it was more Veronica's story than Ian's but it gives you a better understanding of the person Veronica is. In "Mending" she was portrayed as an evil slut but after reading this installment, I see she was just a woman in love with an unattainable man. She wanted so desperately for Bradley to return the love she felt or him. So I thought she and Ian planned that whole pregnancy debacle. Everything was just a freakin crazy coincidence. I wished that we had a little more of Ian and Veronica's relationship. It all seemed so rushed and it would have been nice to see how the feelings of crazy lust turned into love between Ian and Veronica. At least we get to find out what were Ian's intentions when he showed up at Gabby's apartment. I see there's another book coming out for Ian and Veronica and I'm sure the author will give these characters the happy ending they deserve.
Well what can I say about this book except WOW!!! JB has another great book on her hands. I really enjoyed this book and how it gives you more of a in site into Bradley's life before Gabby.
I went through different emotions with this one at first I felt sorry for Veronica as I knew she was about to get kicked to the curb, then I felt a bit sorry for her until the end and I just wanted to slap her!!!!
As for Ian well as soon as he came on the scene I just wanted to kill him, then I started to warm to him a little right up until the end then I felt anger towards him.
The only words to sum up both Veronica and Ian are SELFISH!!!! They are made for each other!!!
I LOVED this book and I'm sooooo intrigued now to read more about these two!!!
Also looking forward to the next book in the series need more Bradley now lol xx
"Conspiring" was an amazing addition to "This Trilogy." I loved being able to read exactly how Ian and Veronica met and how they came up with the plan to make Bradley believe the baby was his and Veronica's. I even felt a little bad for Veronica at first. I can't believe Ian would really give up claim on his unborn child so easily to make Veronica happy. You would think since Ian realized he hurt Gabby in the past that he wouldn't try to pull that same stunt in the future to hurt her after claiming he had so much love for her. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has read and loved "Broken" and "Mending." "Conspiring" is definitely worth reading.
I didn't think I was going to enjoy this book as much as the first two because I hated Ian and Veronica! A friend of mine said it best when she said "what sleezeballs!" Reading the story though, there were some redeeming qualities to both characters. I actually, on some level, started to sympathize with Veronica. Then when Ian helped take care of Veronica, I was thinking, ok, maybe he isn't such a tool after all. Then I got to the end and remembered why I couldn't stand either of them! I did enjoy this story. I have become emotionally invested in all of these characters! April can't get here soon enough! I really need to know what happens next!
This is the story of how Veronica and Ian meet. This story makes Veronica human to me rather than a nasty bitch- well she still is a nasty bitch for trying to pass Ian's baby off as Bradley's. I can see how she couldn't let Bradley go that their arrangement would eventually lead to more feelings on someone's end and it happened to be her end. I was a bit sad that Bradley didn't even bother to call her to let her know that their arrangement was over he just never saw her again- Not cool if you ask me. I felt sorry for Ian but he did make his own bed. Maybe Veronica and Ian will get a HEA. Follow My Blog
I am loving "This" series! This author is so good! I love how she now has me feeling for the so called villains of this story. She dug deep to help me see the vulnerability of Veronica and Ian and has me liking them, oh my! You would think because I know what happened in Mending that this story wouldn't have much of a punch; but when you get the POV of the other characters, it brings a richness to the story that makes it even better. Because we know that Bradley confronts Veronica and gets the truth from her, I really hope that she and Ian can find their HEA. Oh hurry with the next addition, can't wait!
Ok, I have to admit that when I began reading this novella, I did not like Roni or Ian. Both of their characters bothered me and they both have caused some major heartache to Gabe in the other two books of this series. Let me say though, it was so nice to get the background of Bradley and Roni's relationship. Ian happened into Roni's life at a time when she needed someone. Having her heart broken by Bradley lead her right into Ian's embrace. Roni and Ian are smoking hot together and their passion is undeniable. I enjoyed every moment of this hot little read. I cannot wait to read the final book in this series to see how all of their lives come about.
Just as you have started to really not like Roni and Ian, Conspiring comes out. A different side to the This Trilogy. Reading this made me see people have changed, yes for the better, but i don't like to see people get hurt. Defiantly a must read of 2013, i was unable to place it down, read it within 90 minutes. i can not wait to read the next part of Roni and Ian's Story. Thank you JB for another fab book.
