Christopher Davis grew up in the mean streets of Flint, Michigan. He never knew his mother or father because he was given up at birth. Chris had been shuffled from one foster home after the next. At the young tender age of 12, he decides to run away and live on the streets. He soon finds out that the only way he can survive is by selling his body. Chris wasn’t what you go a people person but he did have one good friend named, Louis McKay. Louis more or less showed Chris the ropes when it came to male prostitution and nicked named him, “Reckless.” However, Chris finally meets his knight in shining armor. Will he live happily ever after or does he get more than what he bargained for?
As a burgeoning self published author who has a hand full of short stories on Amazon & iBooks I understand the challenges that indie publishing has. It's hard being a writer, especially when you don't have the support of a Publishing House. So I take my hat off to anyone who finishes a project and publishes it. So kudos to you, Mike, for that.
With that being said, if you're gonna charge people money for your art then you have to give them the best you can or nothing at all. At best, this should've cost a $1, and that just for the effort alone.
The plot was virtually none existent. A BASIC plot structure consist of 1.) a problem 2.) a complication(s) then 3.) Resolution. One can argue Chris' upbringing was the Problem, but for the story it seems more like Backstory, instead. There are NO Complications in the story. Chris is a prostitute but enjoys his life in relative ease with zero challenges from his patrons. Then without any provocation he meets his "Knight in Shining Armor". That part was everything needed to add Complication but then you ended it with him being murdered because of a totally forgettable incident from his past WITHOUT FORESHADOWING IT!!!! OMG!!!! Never ever include a punch like that without foreshadowing the damn incident. And just like that, he's murdered with no fight and climax from the protagonist, Chris. And I'm not even going to get into how you randomly changed perspectives in the middle of your story—smdh!
And the story has way too many editing & proofreading errors to cost $4. That's a cardinal egregious sin to make when you're charging that much for art—wrong, wrong, wrong!
Yes, this was a short story but A STORY nonetheless—there are still elements that makes a story what it is. I'm only being as critical because you're charging people way too much for this—not to mention the time that your readers will NEVER get back. Mike, show some authorial integrity and lower the price for this. It's simply not worth what you're charging.
I wish you the best and despite my criticisms I think your effort is awesome and, no, I don't claim to be perfect or know it all. I'm just passionate about the craft as I try to hold myself to these same standards I'm measuring against you. Love you brother. Blessings.
It was an okay read period it was an easy read. There were some pages missing so you had to put together what was missing. I wish there could have been a little bit more background on Frank to help tie in some loose ends but you got what you got and you read what you read
Very quick read that takes your emotions in all directions. I have to admit, I did bust out laughing when Chris started speaking from the dead. I was definitely not expecting that, but then I got sad again after realizing this young man never knew real love. I’m definitely recommend this if you want a gay, tragic novel that you can start and finish in under 30 minutes.

Sad and emotional story about a boy with a horrible upbringing and how it shaped his life.
Christopher had a very sad upbringing and that reckless behavior and magical thinking led to his ultimate downfall. His life is very similar to many young children in the foster care system, and in our world that try to do whatever it takes to survive. Young people need hope and guidance. They need someone to care early on in their development and I believe if Chris had that type of love in his life, he could have had a better life.
The twists in this book is amazing. I wasn't expecting the ending the way it was. This is why I will always be a Mike Warren fan and why I call his books master pieces. Can't wait for another book by Mike Warren
