This was just an okay read for me. I got off to a pretty rough start with this book and seriously considered giving up on it. I am glad that I stuck with it because the actual romance between Daniel and Samantha was really well done. Once the romance really got going and because the total focus of the book, I really did enjoy it. I actually ended up reading the book pretty quickly once I got over the difficult start.

Daniel and Aaron LeDeux are twins that come to Louisiana to meet their father's family after their mother's death. Daniel is a pediatric oncologist, which is an emotionally draining job for him. After his mother's death and a very difficult case at his work, he decides to leave medicine. They stay in Louisiana and Aaron pushes his twin into buying an old mansion that needs a lot of work.

Samantha is from a very wealthy family but she hasn't always had it easy. She works hard at the family business, Starr Foods, and seems to have it all together. Her ex-husband is always after her for more money despite the fact that he should be making a good living himself as a doctor. After her divorce, she starts to take in animals needing rescued and has quite the interesting menagerie, including a depressed pig and a bird with a dirty mouth.

I really liked Daniel and Samantha together. They just seemed to fit and they had a lot of chemistry. In the past the pair didn't get along very well but they soon figure out that what they each thought of the other wasn't very accurate. I liked how quickly Daniel jumped in to help when Samantha asked. They really seemed to work well as a pair while they were dealing with the larger issue.

There were some things that I really didn't like about the book. I hate to say it but Tante Lulu would have to top my list. I know that her parts of the book were supposed to be funny but I found them to be over the top and ridiculous. She is a very prominent character for the first part of the book and I couldn't stand reading about her. I was so glad when she faded from the story and I started to really enjoy the book. Hundreds of pages went by and then she entered the book again. I didn't think her character took over the story at the end of the book as she did at the beginning. A lot of the conversations in this book are written in the Cajun dialect which I found difficult to read after a while. I simply didn't enjoy reading so many creatively spellings. I am very thankful that Daniel and Samantha didn't have the same strong Cajun accent that some of the other characters had.

I am really not sure if I would recommend this book to others. This book is number 10 in the Cajun series and while it read fine as a stand alone, I do think that readers who know some of the characters from the earlier books will appreciate their appearance much more than I did. I am really not sure if I will be picking up any future books in this series.

I received an advance reader edition of this book from Avon Books via Edelweiss.

Initial Thoughts
This was an okay read for me. The main couple in the story were really the highlight of the book but some of the other characters were just too much. I actually came really close to marking this one as a dnf at the beginning just because of how annoying I found some of the other characters. I really didn't care for how much of the book is written in dialect. I understand that they are Cajun but some of the oddly spelled words are just hard to read.

What an interesting read. It felt like forever before Daniel and Samantha got together and we were overloaded with Tante Lulu. Being from south Louisiana myself, I always love reading books set there. Sandra Hill did an amazing job describing the flora and fauna, but I was a little hurt by the way the people were portrayed. They came off a little on the dumb side, at least to me, and our hero Daniel was a bit condescending to them. However, once Daniel and Samantha got together I did enjoy it a bit more.

It starts out with both the hero and the heroine living with some heavy issues, but unlike other books in this series, it falls flat in finding a lighter side. That is not to say that Taute Lulu can't lighten any scene she is in, but it just isn't as fun as previous books. My favorite part of the book is the Sultan - Slave Girl fantasy.

After losing a young cancer patient and his mother in the same week, Dr. Daniel LeDuex decides it's time for a change of scenery. He and his pilot brother, Aaron, head from Alaska to the bayous of Loo-see-anna to meet his estranged father's family. And, for Daniel, to hid from the world. It doesn't take long for Taute Lulu to zero in on him for her own special brand of treatment. But Daniel is not interested in a snooty, rich girl that Taute Lulu has in mind for him.

Samantha Starr, grocery heiress, has had issues with her appearance her whole life. When she finally dumps her cheating, money grubbing, doctor ex, his treatment of her had taken a big toll on her self-esteem. Her view of all doctors is not favorable, to say the least. She is real resistant to Taute Lulu's efforts to bring her closer to the hot, smoldering Cajun doctor.

When Samantha calls Aaron for help with getting her step-brother out of serious trouble and gets Daniel instead, the sparks these two have been striking turn from animosity to passion real quick, much to Tante Lulu's delight. But these two, aided by a host of rescue animals, have a lot to learn about each other and to put aside their first impressions and trust.

I just love Sandra Hill! I remember one RT where she gave me a ARC of her upcoming book and I guarded it with them life. I wouldn't even let anyone close to it. Trust no one, that was my motto.

I think what I love about her most is the way she blends humor with love. Not only the love of the hero & heroine, but the other characters too. Brothers, sisters and even maybe a aunt! You can just tell right away how the people feel about each other.

Because I love all of Sandra Hill's books, I'd be hard pressed to name one I didn't like, I was so thrilled that we were back in Cajun country! I just love the LeDeux family, especially Tante Lulu! For those who already read Hill you know all about Tante Lulu! Those who don't, are in for a treat!

That woman makes a book!

The funny part is that we met the twins a while back but it's taken some time to get back to them. We had some Vangle's to get through first! I bet you are wondering what in the world a Vangle is?

You really need to read Hill's Deadly Angel's series!

Now back to the Cajun's. Like I said, it's been a while for us to get the twins but they are here now! I have to say that Cajun Doctor has to be one of her more emotionally driven books. You just feel for poor Daniel. It has to be so tough dealing with cancer patients, add the fact that they are kids to the list and it's gotten a whole lot worse. No wonder Daniel wanted to give it all up.

Poor Daniel!

He did fight a good first to give up medicine, he just never had to deal with a person like Tante Lulu! She wasn't going to let him give up his gift.

Right away I loved Sam. She had the misfortune to have a really crappy ex-husband and a family that was less then perfect too. But even with all that, she was really a down to earth person who cared about those around her.

She worked hard for all the benefits that being part of her family gave her. She didn't sit back let the money poor in.

I loved how much she really cared about animals and how going to get one guard dog turned into her adopting a small petting zoo! Funny how that happens. Good people have so much trouble leaving animals in cages.

These two together and wonderful, even if they don't always get that. With Tante Lulu and St. Jude these two never stood a chance!

I think any book with Tante Lulu in it is entertaining and this was no exception. Many times I laughed and a couple times I even teared up reading this story. There was plenty of action foiling the bad guys in addition to looking at serious life issues. Burned out pediatric oncologist Daniel comes to the rescue of Samantha even though she dislikes doctors because her jerk ex-husband was a physician.

This book is silly and over the top, but it's meant to be.
It's not my jam, but she's on book 10, so many people must like it.

Full review:
This book is silly. It's campy, over the top, and tongue in cheek. The problem is that it's not very romantic. I can handle silly and campy fun. But I didn't ever feel like there was fun. Sandra Hill is known for being very over the top, (her vampire/angels series is definitely full of that).

But this felt...too silly to be enjoyable. Not funny or fun, just...silly.

Here's an example, "He used his knees to separate her legs and arranged himself between her open thighs. Chest to breast, belly to belly, divining rod to mother lode."

She must have a specific fan base, because this was a bit much for me, even knowing that it would be a bit crazy.

Quick version is that Aaron and Daniel are twins who find out that they have family in Louisiana. Daniel, pediatric oncologist, is so tired of losing patients that he's done. He's grumpy and angry and sort of bums around the South for a few years after he meets everyone. Aaron has settled in nicely and after a couple years of his brother being depressed and boring, pushes him to go in halfsies on an old plantation home. They begin to fix it up.

Meanwhile, over these few years, Dan has been thrown into the path of Samantha (purposely by matchmaking Tante Lulu, the crazy aunt). Samantha's story begins 5 years after her divorce from a gold digging ex, Nick, who keeps pushing for more alimony. Nick is a doctor, but feels Samantha's family money should be his. She has a huge chip on he shoulder about doctors. This is partly why she doesn't like Dan when she meets him.

The ex-husband storyline was the most interesting to me. It really had a lot going for it, but it fizzled out so quickly at the end that I was left completely unsatisfied. I'm talking like total potential for a fantastic subplot, especially since he's such a good villain.

This book covers a lot of time. Like 4-5 years. One chapter says Two Years Later. A lot of time skips. I felt it was unnecessary. It made the ex-husband storyline feel that much less likely. When you have a gator wrestling neighbor and a crazy aunt, it's sad that the fairly realistic part of the book is what felt well, unrealistic. The main characters don't even interact much until about the middle of the book. Where's the romance there? I found the romance to be boring, and the silliness killed the book for me.

I don't think I'll read her again, but I really am kind of bummed since I wanted to enjoy the funny campiness of it all. But this was a miss for me without being funny, just silly.

What a fun book! If you like your romance mixed with some quirky Cajun charm, then this one does the trick. I am glad that the author kept it fun, without going overboard into slapstick mayhem. Daniel and Samantha made such a good pair, I liked them both immediately. All the family and friends around them made me wish I lived in New Orleans with them. This book is one I couldn’t put down, smoothly written, sprinkled with romance, hot sex, danger and lots of smiles and laughter. I loved it.

I think this may be the first time I ever saw a contemporary romance spin-off from a paranormal romance/urban fantasy. Calling this a contemporary romance is kinda tame since this is a screwball comedy in addition to a love/hate romance.

So no Viking Vampire Angels in this book, nothing out of the norm except some really crazy people and you will love them.

Couple of things here, this book starts out kinda depressing in the first chapter or so but lightened up pretty fast. Add to it that Daniel and Samantha pretty much hate each other after one meeting but that just adds to the flavor but the interfering LeDeux matriarch, Tante Lulu (who is a total nutjob .... or a genius) has decided that these two make a great couple and she means to make it happen.

Insanity, Dixie Mafia, vicious ex, and the kinfolk from an asylum and you have a fun story.

Bottom line: I was not sure what to expect here since I had read the Viking Vampire Angel stories that some of these human characters came from but it was a fun romp but I gave it 4 Stars in spite of scanning a bit of the book (it got boring or repetitive in a couple of places) but you could not leave this story behind so 4 Stars and Highly Recommended

Things got even more hot & steamy in Louisiana with Sandra Hill’s newest addition to her Cajun series, The Cajun Doctor. Here we had a slow burn romance complicated by a run in with some unsavory characters, plus a whole lot of quirkiness thrown in thanks to Tante Lulu.

While this was a contemporary romance with loads of Southern humor, I do have to mention that there are some scenes/passages that may be difficult for some readers to get through. Our hero Daniel LeDeux was a pediatric oncologist so he had to deal firsthand with the devastating effects cancer had on his patients and even a family member. There were some grief filled moments that were quite touching and heartbreaking–especially those with two children he treated–but I think it showed us just how sensitive and caring Daniel truly was. I did not enjoy this romance very much, and I think maybe it's just a difference between the story/writing versus my tastes as a romance reader.

The Cajun accents really hit you over the head and a lot of the characters felt cartoonish. Trust me, you won't every forget this is set in Louisiana. Plus, the one-dimensional, gold digging ex-husband villain is truly a horrible person, and his actions and verbal abuse toward the heroine are a major tonal conflict with the almost slapstick like humor.

I know there are readers out there who enjoy this brand of silly romantic comedy, but it's not for me.

Almost 5 Stars. Entertaining, Mostly Well Written, but Flawed

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

Firstly, the positives:
The hero, heroine and secondary characters, with the exception of the villains, were very likeable. Both the hero and heroine had insecurities which added depth to their characters, as they struggled to overcome their pasts and obtain their happily ever afters. As well, Louisiana dialects in much of the dialogue created distinct characters who fit their setting and added realism to their characterization.

Setting was presented realistically and the reader could picture the sights, sounds and smells of Louisiana.

The plot was entertaining and kept me engaged. There was enough conflict to hold my interest, but not so much that it overwhelmed the character-driven aspects of the story.

Secondly, the negatives:
The author initially piqued the reader’s interest with an amusing courtroom battle between the heroine and her sleazy ex-husband, and afterwards, his threats to her. Then this plot point was dropped with just a few later references that said she won the case and that the ex’s threats stopped. It wasn’t necessary to show the final courtroom scene, but as a reader, I felt cheated. The ex was a jerk and I wanted just a few paragraphs as a followup that showed him getting his comeuppance in court. Because this scene wasn’t added, the story feel incomplete.

There wasn’t enough time devoted to the romance. We were shown the hero and heroine meeting at a family wedding and the heroine disliking the hero, simply because he was a doctor like her sleazy ex-husband, then suddenly, it’s two years later. I hated this two year gap because we miss any interactions between the hero and heroine. We’re told that over that period, the hero and heroine met at various family gatherings and never got along. It would have been more effective to have seen some of those interactions before the couple finally got together. Instead, they are suddenly thrown together in a dangerous situation and it’s instant lust/love. The hero and heroine acknowledge in hindsight that they must have been fighting an attraction to each other during the two years when they were snarling at each other, but we never get to see it. As a result, the romance felt somewhat rushed and flat.

There was too much sex that felt like filler. I like sex scenes, I like sexual banter, and I like sexual inner dialogue, but in this case, it dragged on too long. I get that the heroine was insecure because her ex made her feel ugly and undesirable, so it was important to show that the hero boosted her self-esteem because he was really turned on by her. It was also important to show that that the very things that the ex called ugly and made the heroine feel self-conscious about, were the very things that aroused him. However, all of the inner musings about sex and the amount of space devoted to the sex scenes themselves stole time away from the characters interacting in ways that added veracity to them falling in love, rather than lust.

The humorous dialogue amongst the various characters became too much. It’s like adding salt to your food; a little bit of it is wonderful and adds greatly to the flavour, but too heavy a hand and you have something unpalatable. In this case, the humour initially enriched the characterization and setting. However, there was too much of it and it eventually detracted from the story and felt like filler as it continued.

MAJOR SPOILER
My final criticism was in the resolution of the ex’s villainy. He was a hateful character who used and manipulated people, he was selfish, mean spirited, didn’t care who he hurt, and he worshipped wealth, power and prestige. I was really looking forward to seeing him humiliated before his peers, stripped of his assets and thrown into prison. Instead, he was given an easy out by being killed by the police.

In summary, this could easily have been a five star book with some judicious pruning and relevant additions. I recommend it to those who don’t mind the things I disliked. Sandra Hill writes well and there were a lot of things to love about this book.

Posted on What I'm Reading

Yes, I wanted to read The Cajun Doctor, because the hot guy on the cover. I also did want to read it, because I like Sandra's Vangel books. I actually didn't realize this was part of a previous series, now I know. However, those who have been following Cajun books will remember some of the characters, while it's all new to me.

We meet Daniel and Aaron LeDeux, twin brothers, after their mother's death find out they have more family. Their father's family, so they travel down to Louisiana to meet them. At this time, they aren't sure what they are going to do with their lives. Then the story starts to focuses on Daniel, and Samantha Starr. When Samantha was trying to fix her life after a blip of a marriage, she had decided that all doctors were scum. Gotta love scum sucking ex-husbands. So, you might say that Daniel and Samantha don't see eye-to-eye. Actually, they tend to egg one another on. They seem to rub each other the wrong way, so the banter between them is pretty fun. However, her brother finds himself in some serious trouble decides to turn to Daniel for help.

The Cajun Doctor was an all right read. I liked the story, but the cajun dialect got a little too much for me granted it was in the bayou area. I guess I'm use to redneck Louisiana, which there is. However, I did like the relationship between Daniel and Samantha. It was pretty much all sexual tension they were going to ignore until they were forced to be together. Now I'm curious where Aaron was while he was missing in action. He was always gone, but he would come back here and there. I wouldn't mind knowing what's going on in his life. Anyway, an all right read.

Actually one of the better of the series, which I freely admit is not a favorite.

Highlights - Tante Lulu's interference is minimized. Oh, it's there, but it's overshadowed by a bunch of other crap that force our prospective lovebirds to change their perspective.

Lowlights. Uh...there was a lot of crap that was just kinda rushed through all at once to set the stage for the H/h to actually decide they wanted to get together for real. The h's ex is taken care of permanently, the mob after her stepbrother gets taken down the same day, so there's no reason for her to stay at his place. Which means that she leaves unexpectedly and he has to come to grips with the realization that he wants her there permanently...and vice versa. Now, granted, I like that they got together on their own terms (none of that ridiculous public humiliation routine that usually characterizes books in this series), I just wish all the problems forcing them to cohabit hadn't been deux ex machina'd. I mean; I do read romantic suspense so a plot that somewhat reads like a comedy version of that genre should at least make an attempt to have a little drama beyond the whole "I need to hide" bit and the taking out of the ex (which was quite dramatic, to be sure).

There was also the lack of a real discussion about his not wanting to get involved, which was why she gave him the brush-off just prior to that dramatic bit. She never pointed out that he was the one who wanted a one night stand, you see. OTOH, I suppose their pseudo-discussion while she was in the harem costume (which was Tante Lulu's BTW) about him not doing one night stands was a bit of air clearing.

After a going through a grueling divorce Samantha Starr has decided to swear off men for a while... especially ones who hold a doctor's title. Her worthless ex-husband was a physician, with a wondering eye, and he proved to be nothing but trouble for her, so naturally all of them should be that way right? But when she happens to meet handsome doctor Daniel LeDeux, she begins to question her beliefs, sure the man is infuriating, but he is also charming too, and so unlike her ex!

Daniel LeDeux and his brother set out on a journey to Louisana to meet the family they have never known, and wind up wandering into a whole new world too, filled with quirky people that are sure to change their lives! And Daniel also happens to meet a beautiful local, that tests his patience, but also tests the bounds of his heart too!

This charming read was a whole new kind of world for me, not only my first time reading something from this author, but also a story of this kind. I have to say I liked what I found, it was laugh out funny, it warmed my heart, and had me blushing a time or two. I really enjoyed watching these two dance around one another, the feisty banter they shared was something else, and that coupled with the other quirky Cajuns in the story made this quite a memorable read for me! Highly recommend you give this one a try, Ms. Hill's well crafted characters, and inventive story line are sure to keep you thoroughly entertained!!

This review was written by Marie for a guest review post on Ever After Book Reviews blog:

This was my first foray in to the Cajun series by Sandra Hill, and I can honestly say, I had a hell of a good time! From the get-go, I knew this book was going to run me through the gamut of emotions. I laughed, I cried, I cheered… and I fell in love with Daniel and Samantha as they wound through their romantic journey to happiness.

As a first timer, I was awed by the author’s ability to transport me straight in to the heart of the Cajun culture and the bayou. I felt like I was there, experiencing every moment with these characters. I was swept up in the charm of the “swamp”, as Louisiana has affectionately come to be known, and found every minute detail enthralling.

I also very much enjoyed the undeniable chemistry between Daniel and Samantha. Their passion ignited almost immediately, adding more than enough steam to the already humid climate of the south.

This may have been my first trip in to the Cajun series, but I can assure you, it will not be my last.

This was a Goodreads Giveaway, but I got it the day before it was released. Ah well! That's okay! I read it anyway, and I really liked it!

Sandra Brown has an easy writing pattern I can follow! (Thank goodness! And I love it!

Valcourt LeDeaux is the original bad dad, a womanizer who left his wives, mistresses, and offspring throughout the USA. His grown sons leave Alaska upon their mother's death to rediscover their Cajun heritage. The doctor and the commercial pilot. The doctor is burnt out (his field of medicine is especially tough) and he certainly does not expect to find crazy people in Louisiana who won't give up on him, a spoiled rich woman who is anything but that, a menagerie of homeless animals, a baby selling scheme, and an encounter with the Dixie Mafia. Enough to scare off anyone, especially when you throw in my favorite character, the agelss Tante Louise with her St. Jude statues, hope chests for men, and matchmaking abilities.

Cant wait for other Cajun stories.

What a fun read! It was a little sad at the beginning, but once you get through chapter 1, the story does a 180 and becomes a fun adventure. You have twin brothers heading from Alaska to the bayou. There, they find a crazy family and home. It was a lot of fun to read. The chemistry between Daniel and Samantha was hot, steamy, and the kind of relationship I long for. They seem to build a fun rapport. The odd menagerie of animals really adds to the story. The suspenseful side of the story might have been a little far fetched... but it was fun to suspend reality and visit Louisiana for a bit. The one thing I might warn is that if you don't care for things written in the characters' dialect, the New Orleans drawl was scrawled all over the pages, which, for me, made it a little slower read than usual because I had to translate some of it mentally for understanding. I received a copy from the publisher to review.

I have to admit as much I LOVE Ms. Hill's books and writing, I never seem to keep up. A shame because as she has such humor and heart.

Although I really haven't followed along exactly in the Cajun Series (I think this is book #10) I still really enjoyed this and did not feel too left out! LOL

This book features the LeDeux twins. I vaguely recall maybe meeting them in a prior book? Maybe?

The Cajun Doctor has a pinch of a more serious tone at times but don't that sway you away. Daniel is a strong hero and nicely matched with Sam ( loved her and what she does).

And let's not forget Tante Lulu!

If you've read Ms. Hill before, you'll really enjoy this AND if you haven't well I think you will become a fan!

I'm going to go and dig out some of my other books by Ms. Hill and catch up, as The Cajun Doctor reminded me so much of why I fell in love with books in the first place.

This is a hard book to describe but essentially it's about Dr. Daniel LeDeux who's a burned out pediatric oncologist and his twin brother, Aron, a bush pilot, who leave the wilds of Alaska for steamy southern Louisiana and their crazy family. The leader is Tante Lulu who rules everyone. She intends for Dr. Daniel to marry local rich girl Samantha Starr, an animal rescue advocate. There's also a run-down plantation that Tante Lulu wants restored. When Samantha's step-brother shows up with a pregnant young girl whose baby is going to be sold on the black market by Samantha's ex-husband, everyone is forced to move to the plantation for protection from the baby marketing mob. Of course, Tante Lulu decreed that Daniel and Samantha should fall in love and get married besides.

Parts of the book are funny and parts are boring. I was halfway through the book by the time I figured out what exactly was going on but it was worth it.

Two more siblings are added to the growing LeDeux tree, twins from Alaska: Dr. Daniel LeDeux and pilot Aaron LeDeux. After their mother's death the twins learn of their long-long family in Louisiana. Daniel is a burned out pediatric oncologist that decides he no longer wants to practice medicine. Coming to Louisiana he meets the family matriarch Tante Lulu who wastes no time in setting him up with local rich girl Samantha Starr. He learns all about St. Jude and hope chests.

Samantha is scarred by a nasty divorce from her philandering ex physician husband, so she has sworn off men, especially doctors.

The two are no match for resisting when it comes to Tante Lulu. So among the herd of rescue animals, some steamy sexual fantasies and a lot of humor Daniel and Samantha find that their fates are sealed.

Daniel and Aaron are twins that grew up in Alaska. Aaron is a pilot and Daniel is a doctor. After loosing a ten year old cancer patient and then his mother within days of each other, Daniel gives up medicine. Daniel and Aaron found out that they have unknown family in Cajun country so they moved to Louisiana to meet the rest of the family. Tante Lulu is heavily involved in their lives from the moment they arrive and keeps them on their toes. Daniel meets Samantha the first day and they do not like each other. It is fun watching them change their minds. Throw in the Dixie Mafia, a greedy ex-husband and a baby black market to make their lives interesting. Oh, don't forget the rescue animals that Samantha is taking care of, especially Emily, the depressed pot-belly pig.

I have been waiting anxiously for the next Cajun book and I was not disappointed. Dr. Daniel LaDeux and his twin brother Aaron are convinced to go to Cajun country to meet their relatives that they did not know about after their mother passed away. They are soon caught up in a wild, crazy family but surprisingly they feel like they belong. Daniel ends up helping Samantha Starr, who really hates doctors after her divorce, and ends up in a house full of foster animals including a potbelly pig and a bird that only one phrase and it is not very nice. This a really fun read and can't wait until the next story.

Good read

I've read all of Sandra Hill's Cajun books, her Viking books, plus others. Tante Lulu is such a hoot and so interfering. Daniel and his twin find out that they have loads of relatives, the LeDeauxs, in Louisiana only after their mother dies. They leave Alaska and find their family and settle in. But Daniel is depressed. Then Samantha asks for help.....Her step-brother is in trouble with the Dixie Mafia and Samantha's ex-husband. She also has a menagerie of different foster animals, including a pet pig who is depressed and seeing a pet psychiatrist. This book is hilarious, romantic, sexy, and a little danger. Highly recommend.

Stars

I started reading this series in the middle and did Sandra Hill a big injustice by rating her work with a 3 stars. I kept reading though because I fell in love with Louise even though or because she a little crAzy. Once I had several books under my belt I began to see the whole picture and loved it. So I am hooked now while you can start anywhere and get an enjoyable read I recommend that you start trying to read the books in order as soon as you can for a big picture of family, loves, and life in the Bayou as soon as you can so you can truly enjoy Sandra Hill's to it biggest potential.

The Cajun Doctor by Sandra Hill is the tenth book in her Cajun series. Twins Daniel and Aaron LeDeux are the main focus and they live in Alaska. They were raised by their mother and did not know about their father. After her death, they go to Cajun country to fulfill a request by their mother. They have a large family there. It is funny, romantic ,adventurous and does a good job of keeping it interesting with Cajun culture thrown in. It keeps you interested . It does well as a stand alone.

I received a copy thru a Goodreads Giveaway.

While still good, I didn't enjoy this as much as I have others by Sandra Hill. I did find one name mixup.

In chapter 24 -
"I would have been used as leverage so you would let Angus and Lily Beth go," Samantha elaborated. "Honestly, Nick, can you see Nick and Lily Beth going to the police when they might be arrested themselves?"

I do believe that the second 'Nick' should be Angus. Otherwise, I did enjoy it, just not as much as I have previous books.

I love Sandra Hill's humor in the narrative that goes along with her romances set in Louisiana.
Somehow the newer ones had escaped me and this is the first of the later set for me.
It won't be the last....I am on the lookout for Aaron's story.
Twin Dr. Daniel LeDeux and Samantha Starr's story was a good one. I will leave the synopsis out as previous reviews have taken care of that.
Life is short. Read more entertaining books like the works of Sandra Hill!

A Slam Dunk

I have to say Sandra Hill has done it again. I love her Vangel series and this one is right up there with the story, the style and of course the right amount of humour. I am looking forward to the story for Aaron. Thank you Ms. Hill for sharing your heart and soul with us. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Seems like a long wait for this book...but it was worth it. I loved every word. Loved the characters, animals, situations...I think Sandra Hill out did herself with this one! Please write more about Daniel and Samantha, their home, their foundation and hopefully many children!
