The saga of the dauntless Kidd family continues in this exciting story set in the perilous Amazon jungle of Peru. This fifth in the series, like all the previous books, is a fun adventure tale for all ages. You can't go wrong with anything written (or co-written) by Chris Grabenstein, and the illustrations by Juliana Neufeld are delightful and often hilarious.
This was an overall good book. I found it interesting how the whole Kidd family worked together. They had their moments, but overall they found what what they were looking for. I connected with Bick, the 13 year old adventurous and dangerous type. Just like me! I found it funny how I felt adrenaline when he was in danger. I grew to find that Bick was not always the one to jump into action he sometimes hangs back and watches some stuff be done knowing that it's dangerous and isn't for him. I like books like this one that has a happy ending. It makes me feel good that everyones safe.
This is a very good book. I could tell that there was a lot of research put into this book. This book had a good solid plot. I think this is my favorite book in the series. Tommy is my favorite character. If I could give this a 6 star I would! This book is great! Highly recommended!
I'm still not sick of this series. It's so good for those times you want to read something that is a light, with a dash of humour. I'm glad to see there is a new book added to this series and can't wait to get it.
Thank you to Edelweiss and the publisher for the E-ARC copy of this book. I have a huge fan of this series. I think that is a great book for anyone, but espcially kids under 13. The treasure hunting is my favorite part of this series. I think that it's wonderful to see the imagination and excitment of having a treasure to hunt. We forget how much fun it is to be a kid looking for lost treasure. I know some will say that the series is getting a little repetitive, but for kids it gives them friends to come back to check in on. James Patterson doesn't need reviews, but parents do. If you have a child that loves adventure, fun, and a clean read then you must try out this series! Librarian approved, but parent approved!
My son who is 8 years old just finished this book. He said he loved the beginning, middle and end! It has action in all of parts. He would recommend this series for age 7-16+. He loves anything James Patterson and Stuart Gibbs.
My 10 year old son, was waiting for this book, which was released on his birthday. He plowed through it in a couple days. He just loves this series and has energized his love of reading.
This is such a good series! The Kidd Family is all together on their first treasure hunt together. Can it all go smooth sailing or will there be Rocky terrain?
The Kidd family of treasure hunters are back for another adventure. This time, they will find themselves drawn to Peru, where they will be challenged by most of their past nemeses as they search for the lost Incan city of Paititi. The twins Bick and Beck take readers through the story as each of the family members contributes in their own special way to solve the mystery and also avoid death from both the setting and the evil people out to get them.
The book takes on an interesting twist as readers learn more about the ultimate goals of the family Kidd for this mission. They have every intention of turning over the gold found in Paititi to the Peruvian government in order for it to help purchase land to protect the region's rainforests. the real question is whether they can find the city in time ... or even survive.
This was an interesting addition to the Treasure Hunters series. It struggles a bit from being a little too much more of the same, coming across as a bit formulaic. With that said, intermediate readers often enjoy that kind of stortytelling. I found it a little slow in the beginning as the book seemed to struggle with finding the main plot, but it ended up being worth it in the end. Not the best in the series, but still fun.

This series is timeless to me. The last book I read was the 4th instalment 4 years ago, and even though I’ve only been able to continue this book now I still enjoyed it so much! Maybe it was for the nostalgia but nonetheless, even though I’m no longer the age range catered for these books I finished it with a smile on my face.
I can’t help but be happy about how lighthearted the book is, with just enough comedy, but there’s twice as much heartwarming family moments. It really encompasses the meaning of family and the importance of love and trust..... The Kidd family are just so kind, intelligent, and brave, I hope many children can look up to them as role models!
Finally I remembered how much I learnt from these books when I read them 4 years ago, and I’m still impressed at how many facts you learn! The author helps delve into history, facts about the locations the Kidds find themselves in including the language.
I’m so thankful to have picked up the first book those number of years ago as I’ve wanted to continue the series since then. Delving into the Kidd family world is so intriguing, and you just feel drawn to the story every single page. Of course it is more of a children’s book, and honestly I’m probably partly still a child at heart so it won’t be everyone’s top pick, but it’s a great a light read with just enough excitement and suspense to keep you flipping the pages!
The quest for the Kidd family will be the discovery of the City of Gold. History believes the Incan City still there for discovery among the thick Amazon jungle. When the Kidd family discovers a map... the race is on!
While being chased by hammerhead sharks, Bick and Beck quickly inform us, the readers, that their paents have a "super-secret high-security" vault on-board their ship. With in the vault, well of course, there are valuable treasure-hunting maps.
The challenge isn't just the discovery of the lost city, oh no... the challenge is getting the family to work together. Do you know how difficult that can be in a family? Plus there are a few tedious obstacles like sharks, pirates, snakes, poison darts, snakes, pits, spears, and snakes!
The winning aspect of this story is all about the illustration layouts and designs. Students get so entertained by the humorous depictions of this family's adventure!
This was the fifth book in the Treasure Hunters series, and just like all the other books, it was amazing! It was written by James Patterson and Chris Grabenstein, my two favorite authors. The Kidds are trying to find the lost city of Paititi in South America made entirely out of gold. I really liked this book because of how unpredictable it was. There map got stolen and they had to rely on Storm to guide them through the jungle (because she has photographic memory) before the bad guys found it. Then they kidnapped Storm and the Kidds had to find a way to get storm back. In the end, they end up finding the city. No one had found it because it was underwater!
I would rate this book and the series 10/10. I would recommend it to anyone who likes adventure, fiction or mystery.

I listened to this not realizing it was #5 in the series, but that wasn't really a problem. The author spent so much time reminding the reader what had happened in the previous books that it sometimes got annoying. It was a fun adventure story for kids looking for light, not-too-realistic reading. Definitely not my cup of tea, but I can see some older elementary boys enjoying it.
We're filled with joy seeing you finish "Quest for the City of Gold" by James Patterson. This story has shown us the power of curiosity and perseverance. You've learned that seeking knowledge and exploring the unknown can lead to incredible discoveries. Remember, darling, always stay curious and never give up on your quests, in books and life.
This series is just goofy and nerdy and everything that a middle grader would love plus YA and adults can enjoy them as well. The great thing is that within all of the silliness...there's a lot of interesting information about the antiquities they are looking for and the countries that they visit. Nothing better than learning while you enjoy yourself!
Treasure Hunters is a fun series. The series is perfect for kids and adults. The fun continues in the latest adventure Quest for the City of Gold and it still has all the humor and charm of the previous books in the series. I highly recommend this series to anyone.
Love this series, we still make time as a family to read them together. I was worried once we rescued mom and dad we were going to lose something in the way the kids interacted. Happy to say that is not the case.
The Kidd’s are looking for a lost Incan city of gold. They face many of the same villains as all the other books. They visit an island off Costa Rica and Peru. The kids help save the day and learn things along the way. It’s a pretty quick read.
I think this book was very informative but not too informative and I certainly learned a lot from Storm. In the middle I got a little tired of Bickford and Rebecca's "Twin Tirades". I would ONLY recommend it if you like short action and adventure stories

Fun read with the kids. We all enjoyed it. Not as funny as some other authors within this genre, but had some good characters and parts. Didn’t realize we started with the 5th book of the series! We will be starting at the beginning.
Really nice book. I love the jungle, and lost cities of gold. This book is so clever in the ways they find to hidden maps, keys, and more. Again, really funny characters, Tommy being probably the best in Quest for the City of Gold.
Another Treasure Hunters book in typical Patterson style, with fat shaming, Twin Tirades, attacks from enemies and most girls being bad guys for some reason. These books are way too predictable but I suppose it makes good reading? The humor is there but I don't know what is wrong with me...
3.5- another adventure for the Kidd family. It was neat that everyone was together for the hunt, but there was too much agenda pushing for my taste. The first adventures are still the best!
