The conclusion to the core story of the Corpse Party game and not a bad take on the game. The author stuck reasonably close to the story of the game, adding a bit more here and there to flesh out some characters that didn't have much to do with the game, like Sachiko's mother and Taguchi, Naho and her sensei's cameraman. I didn't really like that they put Naomi's revelation about the reality of what happened to Seiko, but it's a minor take away from it. I really liked the final outcome involving Yui-sensei, her endgame in the actual game always struck me as kind of... needless. My biggest gripe with this adaption is the inconsistency with the artwork. In a previous volume, the artist had one single panel where Ayumi is wearing glasses... and then it never happens again. In this volume, early on, Ayumi is inconsistently portrayed as wearing bandages over on of her hands. They appear and then disappear and then reappear... kind of annoying, but it didn't stop me from buying the series the first time that it happened, now did it?

I know that in Japan there were other graphic novel adaptions based on the series produced and if they translate and sell them stateside, I will definitely pick them up. In the meantime though, I would love to see other titles based on horror games! Ib, Witch's House, Mad Father, Mermaid Swamp? Ooo, how about Misao? I'd love any of these!

-1 star: illustrator gives everyone that same dumb expression that annoying needle chick in my hero academia is making all the time. No one in real life makes that face, it's an abstraction of an abstraction. Even if you did manage to find someone who had an expression like that it wouldn't be EVERYONE from adult men to little girls to nurses.
-2 star: in the post story bits the illustrator jokes about how they knew the panties leering panels were weird but put them in anyway. No they're not silly fun they're gross and predatory. If sexual titillating is a big part of your horror story YOU DON'T FILL IT WITH MINORS. You can have sexy college aged sorority girls going topless while they run from a killer or you can have little kids riding their bikes away from the big bad. You cant have little kids getting groped by the killer and frame it as sexy what the hell is wrong with the production team on this franchise. None of them should be allowed within 500 feet of an actual Elementary school, their lust for children is the scariest part of corpse Party.
-1 star: I was going to give this +1 one star for having a happy ending but then it reneged at the last moment by showing us another spoopy killer ghost kid oooOooooOoooo so great there's not even a sense of closure thanks book.

This was an interesting story. I think this story would've worked better for me as a light novel as opposed to a manga though. Some of the scenes were very gruesome and I found myself glancing over panels instead of really looking at them. It was hard enough for me to re-read the first volume this year when I decided to finally read this series to completion as I had remembered clearly the demise of one of the characters.

I had figured out one part of the mystery early on and that brought the suspense level down a bit for me. There was a bit of fan service that I didn't appreciate though I think it was supposed to help alleviate some of the depressing situations that were occurring. The end of this story included a tidbit that I didn't find necessary to the story of this group though I did appreciate catching up with them in the aftermath. I presume the very end leads into the sequel story, which I do have and will probably be reading shortly.

The final Vol and conclusion to the Corpse Party: Blood Covered manga series. With the strong finishing you're sure to see the dark and twisted themes continue over into this final conclusion. Book 10/10 and series 10/10

Not the strongest horror I've read. The ending definitely dragged on for a while, and I didn't feel entirely satisfied by the conclusion.

Full review eventually appearing on ANN.

The ending ties well with the next installment. But many questions are still left unanswered.

Overall, the story was creepy enough. However, all the girls had essentially the same personality. Not much character growth. Concepts could have been expanded upon.

Giving an overall review of the series on this one.
First, could I recommend this to someone who has never heard of corpse party? I don’t know, probably not. I’ve been a fan since I was a tween and saw Nico B play it and I’ve loved it since. It’s hard for me to judge how the information is handed out, but the final volume explains something people have complained about since the first volume (characters acting “out of character” being part of the school’s corruption of their souls)

This is a fun way to re experience the series, though as pointed out in others reviews, it’s very clear from the art that the manga artist probably draws hentai (and draws ecchi in the manga) and with the characters being literal teenagers and younger, the sexualization continues to not age well. Unfortunately, this exacerbates the weird horny undertones that we’re in the game proper (ie seiko sexually harassing naomi, yuka’s pee subplot, yuka not wearing panties, literally everything about yuka actually, etc) it’s all pretty terrible in the games and continues to be indefensible here. If you absolutely cannot stand this type of material, don’t read the series

All that being said, I still had a good time! I was (and I guess still am) a big yoshiki/ayumi shipper. This manga gave me alllll the shit I wanted from that, though it was a little sad that it dropped off majorly when they reunited with satoshi bc they needed to play out the love triangle. I would have loved a little bit more closure on that front.

This manga also gave me the chance to enjoy seiko, naomi and more surprisingly satoshi, who I kind of hated in the game (ayumi and Naomi both have better love interests sorryyyyyyyy). For a guy who’s defining character trait is being a scaredy cat, he sure was pretty fine during this whole affair. The manga works better to explain his initial bravery as a front for his little sister, and when she disappears that facade drops until he finds Naomi and puts on a front for her, which more believable becomes less of a front and more satoshi actually being brave! It’s a good arc, I’m glad I found a form I could appreciate it in.

I also really enjoy the change they made to Ms. Yui’s character, who was given literally nothing in the game. Her sacrifice makes much more of an impact (though I think it’s funny when she’s talking about all of her students keeping their humanity and morishige never shows up once since he immediately gave in to the darkening). Speaking of Morishige, he and mayu still weren’t given enough (especially mayu) so they continued to feel pretty meh, which is a shame since mayu is a part of the catalyst for getting the cast into the school! Ayumi takes a lot of blame but she wouldn’t have suggested it if mayu wasn’t moving, which isn’t to say I blame either of them for this, but rather since she dies early on she never gets to learn about the nature of the curse and we as an audience never get to learn anything about her beyond her niceness.
