Alien Mate Index #4

Hunger Moon Rising

Rate this book
Ben Davis is a vegetarian, a Buddhist, and… a werewolf. Sorta. For the last three years, Ben has controlled his lycanthropy by avoiding team sports, meditating, and doing yoga. Because of his iron physical and mental control, he doesn't change into his less attractive form.

Danielle Linden is a reporter, Ben's writing partner, and… a survivor. Five years ago, she divorced her abusive husband and never looked back. She learned her lesson about love and attraction though, and guards herself against both. The only guy able to crack her emotional walls is Ben, and he's just a good looking teddy bear who wouldn't hurt a fly… or so Dani thinks.

When a frantic father bursts into the newsroom and claims that his daughter was kidnapped by a werewolf, Dani begins an investigation that soon plunges her and Ben into the dangerous world of the local wolf pack--a world filled with Pagan rituals and animalistic lusts.

Ben fears for Dani's life and his own secret, but when Dani gains the perilous attention of the alpha wolf of the local pack, he realizes he must give in to the dark side of his soul…and in doing so, risk losing the woman he loves forever.

Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.

Out of the Alpha Closet!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🪐🛸🚀☄️🌎
Character development: 😌👽🥰👽

The heroine: Rylee - she worked with Zoe from Abducted at the law office and helped Leah from Protected deal with her divorce. While with Leah, Rylee mixed up their coffee’s and ended up drinking from the same cup as Leah, who is a La-ti-zal (female with an ability) and due to the fact that being a La-ti-zal can be spread like a virus, Leah feared that she made Rylee a target for aliens who want one for themselves.

The Hero(es): Drace and Lucian - Denarians from rival clans. They were mistakenly bonded and hate each other. The Denarians are a race of aliens where an alpha and a beta male bond together and then mate a single female. However, Drace and Lucian are not only members of enemy clans, but are both Alpha’s. They are told by a seer that a La-ti-zal will be able to break their bond so they go in search of one on Earth.

The Story: Rylee has left the law firm and opened a paralegal firm of her own. She is first seen by Drace and Lucian helping a gay couple with their divorce so the pair thinks she will be the right female to break their bond. Lucien was of the Fang clan and Drace of the Claw clan. Lucien attended University and had a proper education while Drace was raised in the swamps of yerbec, they feel they are totally incompatible especially because neither of them is a beta.

The bond between Drace and Lucien has them feeling each other’s emotions which has irritated them since they were accidentally bonded when they were young. However, after meeting Rylee and talking her into helping them, the emotions have not bothered them as much.

This book was told in multiple points of view using duet narration, where the person doing the narration did all the voices in the chapter that is told from that persons point of view. The narrators were Mackenzie Cartwright and William Martin, who have both done great jobs on all the previous books, my biggest issue with this book is that William used nearly the same voice and inflection for Drace and Lucian so it was hard to tell who was speaking at times.

I have to admit, I didn’t really like the whole storyline about the guys both being Alpha. Apparently though the fact that the society is all about pairs of three with an alpha male, a beta male and a female, they looked down upon an alpha taking the place of a beta, and the guys didn’t want to “come out” to their families as being bonded.

The storyline in this book wasn’t quite as exciting as the rest of the series but I liked how the trio eventually came together and I did love this entire series. I think this was one of the best alien romance series I have read in a while.

While I love the red/grey/blue (my favorit!) barbarians, here the story did not engage me. It could be that I don't like menage stories, but I don't think so, because here it was nicely done. I think it was more the blandness of the main characters.

I had the feeling that they were very cardboard and stereotyped.
We have two aliens: one from socially important rich family - Lucian; the other from a simple village and modest family - Drace. The conflict could have bee much more interesting if their differences were not so stressed.

Tehir mate Rylee is bland: in the middle of a potentially dangerous situation she thinks about fashion and, obviously things go as wrong as they could... and some other TSTL moments...

What I enjoyed and what saved the book IMHO is the world buiding: the hilarious situations and the most hilarious descriptions of food stuff! I laughed like crazy!

I hope the next book is about the fallen angel! *wink, wink*

This was like “Indiana Jones, but with hunky aliens”🌟

If there is one author who can make “cheesy” work, it’s Anderson.

The thing I admire the most about this author is her ability to make her “ made up worlds” seem so visual. So colourful.

It was funny, extra cheesy, and had a great storyline.

However, the characters were slightly bland. When I read in the blurb it was about two ALPHA aliens, I was like DAMN 🔥 I had a hard time feeling their “alpha’ness”. (Is that even a word? 😂)

I was missing conflict and drama, simply because the “dilemma” they had really deserved more attention. It felt a little stressed, and maybe I just expected more?

Anderson’s stories are fun and light, but I honestly expected this to be a little bit more angsty, due to the premise of the book.

I did enjoy it, and I will continue the series, because they really are entertaining, and I love a good alien romance 💪

SINFULLY SEXY SCI-FI ROMP !!!
Title: Severed
Series: Alien Mate Index
Author: Evangeline Anderson
Designation: Book Four of Series, Full-Length(368 pages) Novel, NO Cliffhanger, Can be read as Standalone
Genre: #ScienceFiction #Romance #Menage
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: FIVE SINFULLY SEXY ENTERTAINING STARS*****
Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! As much as I would like to just scream to the entire world, "Read this...Best Sci-Fi Romance Series EVER," then dramatically bring the back of my hand to my forehead and gracefully swoon into a giant quivering puddle, it would be totally remiss of me as a reviewer to not explain why I feel so strongly about this book. I'm totally smitten with action/adventure tales, adore science fiction and love, love, love sexy romance especially when it leans toward the erotic, but when I can find them all in one great book, I'm in heaven! And Evangeline Anderson has delivered the perfect combination of all three in her seductive new Alien Mate Index Series. But in all honesty, I think I've died and gone to alien heaven.... populated, of course, with the alien races of the galaxy along with the twelve peoples seeded by the Ancient Ones from the incredibly imaginative mind of Evangeline Anderson. And folks, it just doesn't get any better than this in the science fiction romance genre! It has everything you could want in a great story including lots of swoon-worthy aliens, heart-pounding danger, gut-wrenching drama, agonizing angst, treacherous cunning villains, laugh out loud humor, sweet seductive romance, sizzling hot passion and sinfully delicious sex. The author does a remarkable job of giving some backstory throughout the book so Severed can be read as a standalone. However, having said that, I highly recommend reading the books in order of their release. It's one decision I'm sure you'll never regret. If you're looking for a fun, sexy romp, this is most definitely the book for you! I'm a fan for life!

Severed is a fast paced, well crafted, exceptionally imaginative and totally unique, full-length standalone science fiction saga filled to the brim with hot as hades space aliens, action, adventure, danger, drama, suspense, passion, romance, angst, steamy dreamy sex, hot as hades space aliens and some of the most nefarious villains I've ever encountered - in any genre. Yes, yes, I know I said hot space aliens twice, but what can I say? They're totally hot! The narrative is beautifully written primarily in the first person with clearly defined his, his and her perspectives. (And no, I didn't make a mistake and type the word his twice.) I was immediately drawn into the story by the three protagonists (and yes, I said three...Hubba! Hubba!), beautiful human paralegal Rylee Hale, and handsome Denarian aliens, Drace Gr'nez of the Claw Clan and Lucian Nx'xis of the Fang Clan. We first met Rylee in Abducted as the work friend of Zoe McKinley, the heroine of the first book of the series. And like Zoe, Rylee is no ordinary human, she's a Pure One which means she originates from Earth, a previously closed planet whose inhabitants have never mixed with any of the other alien races, thereby Pure. But that's not all... she's also a La-ti-zal, a female who has been blessed with very special gifts by the Goddess of Mercy. What kind of gifts? Well, it varies greatly with each La-ti-zal. They can be an opener, a healer, a binder, a goddess, and heaven only knows what else! But one thing's for sure, their abilities all seem to be latent until they leave Earth and meet their mates. Oh my! We first met Drace Gr'nez and Lucian Nx'xis briefly in Descended, Book Three of the series when they visited the royal healer for a consultation after becoming accidentally bonded. They were trying to find a way to sever their bond. Naturally, they're both very handsome, very charming, very large, very muscular, very endowed (lol...and I ain't talkin' bout wealth although one of them does seem to have a great deal of money), and ...uh... very attentive to their female! And yes, that's singular, as in one female. Huh? I want two Denarians for mates! I fell head over heels for all three of these remarkable characters. Rylee is intelligent, sassy, hard-working, independent, kind-hearted, and giving who makes her living as a paralegal, but truly wants to become a wedding planner and help join people together rather than play a part in helping to separate them through arbitration and divorce. Drace is brave, brash with a slightly savage edge and a little rough around the edges. Lucian is intelligent, suave and cultured. Both are courageous, loyal, dedicated, and very stubborn Denarian warriors, always ready, willing and able to protect Rylee as well as their bond-mate, even at the cost of their own life. And when Drace and Lucian give their heart pledge to each other and to Rylee, I may have actually swooned! Oops...spoiler but so darn sweet! Despite their misgivings and conflicts, these three characters are absolutely perfect for each other and played off each other brilliantly. Their chemistry was off the charts hot! I found the entire cast of characters to be fascinating, captivating, engaging, sexy and at times, laugh at loud funny. I even loved the villains in this series! (Spoiler...it sounds like one kinda/sorta villain may just get his own book. I guess we'll have to wait and see.) The dialogue is smart, snappy, inventive, well-executed and flows effortlessly. Anderson skillfully combines all of these elements to craft a romantic, fun-filled, seductive sci-fi romp. Obviously, this is not my first rodeo with Anderson. I became a fan last year after she was recommended by one of my favorite authors and it only took reading one of her books for me to realize Anderson is an exceptionally gifted storyteller with a boundless imagination who excels at creating richly depicted worlds with vivid and beautifully detailed descriptions, then populates them with unique, intriguing characters who literally explode from the pages and capture your heart. She also enhances her creation with futuristic technology and jargon that is sure to titillate the minds of even the most hardcore nerds and sci-fi geeks along with outrageously humorous situations and descriptions that are sure to have you laughing out loud. If you're looking for a delightfully entertaining science fiction romance that is sure to keep you glued to your ereader, make your heart pound and leave you completely breathless, then this is most definitely the series for you. Quite honestly, when Evangeline Anderson puts pen to paper, the result is nothing short of magical, which is pretty darn special since this is science fiction and not supernatural. But my point is this, if you’re a science fiction/alien romance fan, then the Alien Mate Index is one super special series you don’t want to miss! But as usual I digress, let's talk about the premise for the series.

Remember, folks, this is fiction, science fiction to be exact, and according to the incredibly imaginative mind of Evangeline Anderson, it was the Goddess of Mercy who created the universe. She then created a race of beings known as the Ancient Ones to whom she endowed the seeds of life with instructions to sow the seeds throughout the galaxy on the planets capable of supporting life. The result was the creation of twelve alien races who resembled her image. But the Ancient Ones had a little-known secret.... there's a thirteenth race also seeded by the Ancient Ones who more closely resemble the Goddess' than any of others on a small blue and green planet that has remained locked for millennia, concealed, protected and cocooned in the safety of its ozone layer....until now. Yup, that would be us, humans from Earth, and apparently, we're very special since our planet has been locked! As a result of our isolation in the galaxy, Earthlings still have the original DNA of the Ancient Ones and have never mixed with any of the other sentient species, thereby giving us our name - the Pure Ones. But now, there's a gaping hole in Earth's security blanket and guess who just gatecrashed the party without an invitation? That would be the Commercians who have set up the Alien Mate Index, an agency that abducts Earth brides for alien males...for the right price, of course. They've hung out the open sign on a space station which is currently circling in low Earth orbit, concealed by space junk. And they're greedy little buggers. No really, they literally resemble worms, three foot tall dark blue worms with multiple arms and legs, and bulging purple eyes on stalks that swivel. Yup, apparently females are scarce in the galaxy and the alien warriors of the Twelve Peoples, also descended from the Ancient Ones, are searching for mates. And Earth girls are easy! lol... No, just kidding, but Earth females are their first choice. And surprisingly, certain Earth females called La-ti-zals are even more special and much more valuable than others. They have been bestowed with varying special latent gifts or abilities by the Ancient Ones. The La-ti-zals are very rare and sought by many. Oh my! Better stay away from shiny surfaces, ladies because you could be next....you could be snatched anytime... from anywhere, sucked right through a wormhole to the Commercians' space station and sold as a warrior's mate... or concubine! Oh dear! So many hot, handsome alien males to choose from but wait.... we don't choose them; they choose us. I guess the real question is not which handsome alien would you choose... but rather who will choose you??? Oh my!

Handsome Denarian warriors, blue-skin Drace Gr'nez of the Claw Clan and green-skin Lucian Nx'xis of the Fang Clan, have found themselves in quite the pickle. They accidentally became bonded at a clan gathering on Denaris. Normally, that wouldn't be such a bad thing but for these two stubborn Denarian warriors, it may as well be the end of their worlds. You see, they're from rival clans and are sworn enemies. Oops! You see, on their planet of Denaris, they mate in Triunes: one female, one alpha male and one beta male. That's just the way it's done...NO exceptions. It's not socially acceptable any other way. And certainly not between sworn enemies! The one thing they can agree upon is they must find a way to separate their bond. They've been searching the galaxy, trying to find a way to sever their link. They even made a trip to see the royal healer who was no help at all. As a last resort, they visited the Sea Witch who told them they needed a Pure One from Earth to touch them both simultaneously to break their bond. So now, they find themselves on a jaunt across the galaxy to see the Commercians at a space station orbiting Earth. The Commercians are the new proprietors of the Alien Mate Index and have only recently hung out their brand new open-for-business sign. Unfortunately, it seems the only way to procure a Pure One is to buy her through the Commercians. But Drace and Lucian aren't in the market for a mate. It's actually just the opposite since they were trying to separate themselves from each other. But the Commercians don't care! It seems, the only other thing these two can agree upon is the beautiful Pure One, Rylee Hale. But Rylee Hale is not only a Pure One, she's also a La-ti-zal which makes her even more rare and expensive, and there are no discounts for the temporary use of a Pure One. They just need her long enough to touch them both simultaneously to break their bond. They'll just have to bite the bullet, split the cost and pay the full fee. Oh good, one more thing they can agree on.

Rylee Hale is having one heck of a bad day. After an exhausting all afternoon appointment with two squabbling clients, she comes home to relax only to find her ex-boyfriend in her apartment...uninvited. Unfortunately, the cheating loser has decided they should be together and if he can't have her, no one will. He even has a gun! Oh no! Little does she know, the whole scene is being watched by two aliens and to save her, she's transported to a space station orbiting Earth. What? Heck, she had no idea aliens even existed until she lands at the feet of two huge, handsome aliens, one green with blue eyes and one blue with green eyes...completely naked...her, not them. Oh my! And the surprises don't stop there, they just keep on coming! Apparently, they need her services to sever their bond. According to Drace and Lucian, that's the two aliens who bought her, on their home planet of Denaris, two Denarian males join with one female to create a Triune. The three mate (have steamy, dreamy three-way sex) and become linked to each other through a psy-bond. The three then become a Triumvirate consisting of one alpha male, one beta male, and one female. This custom came into practice in their culture long ago as a matter of necessity, stemming from the need to protect the females of their planet who were being systematically targeted and killed by creatures called Kr'awns. Great numbers of their women were lost to the Kr'awn and with no females to repopulate their planet, their clans began to die out. They discovered that the Kr'awns never attacked males, nor the bonded females when they were with a male. By having two males as mates, one could work and the other would always be around to protect their female. All three were psy-bonded which meant they each could sense and feel the other's emotions, always knowing when any of them were in distress or peril. Eventually, evolution came into play becoming an important part of the equation. In order for the female to become pregnant, it became necessary to combine the DNA of two males with one female. Yup, and it had to be simultaneously. Oh my, or should I say ouch! No Denarian male could father a child by himself. Sounds pretty kinky, right? Oh my! They also explained how they had become bonded accidentally at a clan gathering and couldn't possibly be together because they were from rival clans and were also sworn enemies. Sounds reasonable to her and Rylee is always willing to help people. Besides, it's her job. That's what she does. As a paralegal with her own new fledgling business, she arbitrates and helps people to divorce so this should be right up her alley, right. And they agree to pay her. Score! Although she would much rather be a wedding planner and help join people together, so hopefully the money she earns from this will help her change professions. Sounds pretty easy, right? Wrong! Apparently, it's not as easy as they were led to believe by the Sea Witch. The touching thing doesn't work! It seems Rylee Hale is not just any La-ti-zal; she's a Binder and her gift is exactly what you think... she binds. Oh dear! But in her defense, she had no idea she was even a La-ti-zal, much less a Binder. Now she has to accompany Drace and Lucian on an adventure across the galaxy to find a way to sever their bond. Unfortunately, things get even more complicated when Rylee falls in love with both of the big alien lugs, and apparently they have feelings for her as well. So why can't they just fall in love, be bond mates, agree to get along, and live happily ever after? Oh, did I forget to mention that Drace and Lucian are not just any ordinary Denarian males? Oh no, they're both Alphas! What? Two Alphas can't bond with one female. It has to be one alpha and one beta per female. It can never happen. It's not even possible, right? We'll see!

Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am, but only for adult readers since it does contain some exquisitely written love scenes including several steamy dreamy menage a trois scenes. Hubba! Hubba! Will I read this author again? Abso-freaking-lutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! Was I entertained? Oh my lawd, yes! Once I started reading, I simply could not stop. The pages flew as did the time with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest. I laughed, I cried and several times, I even shook my fists in anger, but by the end, I was happy, satisfied and entertained. My final verdict: Severed is a divinely entertaining science fiction saga filled with danger, drama, action, adventure, suspense, humor, romance and some steamy dreamy sex. I would rate this book ten stars if I could! So, buckle up my lovelies, it’s a wild ride across the galaxy and one I'm sure you will enjoy! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

-Enjoyable MFM menage. The sex is there, but the emotional component is well developed.
-Good action and paced well
-There’s a formula but it’s pretty interesting the ways Ms. Anderson comes up with to bring her characters together sexually and emotionally.
-Suprisingly touching(actually made me a bit misty and my insides have shriveled and died long ago), especially towards the end.
-If anything lowered my rating, it was the butthead moves they all made at various times. I understand the need for tension, but didn't make them less of a butthead for it.

This was a very fun entry in the AMI series and I’m still on board this crazy alien train ride.

It has been a while since I read this author. Probably because, this author did not publish many menage romances recently.
The first thing that I had in mind when I saw the release was I knew I would love her writing style and my memory said: good stories. Second, I thought: what a gorgeous book cover!!! wow
I loved the heroine: spunky, funny, sassy.
I also liked the heroes: different personalities which I love, conflict between them and not attached by the hips as usual, which is another bonus, and they were not puppies in love I want to marry you the next day I met you kinda guys... yeah to that!!!
I liked 1/3 of the book and then I just got bored. Somehow I switched from interested into bored. I am not sure if it is a matter of length and maybe I had this preconceived idea that the relationship would be redundant and therefore a bit boring but sadly I did not finished the story. I went straight to the epilogue, got my happy ending and that is that.
However, I liked how the author included a different kind of bigotry and homophobie. It was interesting.
But again, maybe I was not in a mood to read this story and another time I would have read it completely and non stop. My recommendation is: give it a try!

My 1,400th rating!

When we were first introduced to the concept of the Denarins in "Abducted", they obviously reminded me a lot of the Twin Kindred in Evangeline Anderson's other series. Whereas the Twin Kindred are two men who are twin brothers, and there is a Dark and Light Twin, the Denarin men who pair together aren't related. Instead, one is an Alpha, and the other is a Beta. The Alpha Denarin is like the Dark Twin. The Beta the Light Twin.

The problem in this story is that both heroes are Alphas who accidentally bonded when they consumed the same fruit at a gathering. Obviously, they wish to be separated. On the Alien Mate Index, they spot Rylee, who is "severing" the bond between two gay married men, helping them divorce. (She's a paralegal.) They abduct Rylee from Earth to help them sever the bond between them. Honestly good for Rylee when she insisted that they couldn't just take her and would need to pay a lot of money (in gold) to do so.

Whoops, I accidentally starting a plot summary. Anyway, why I didn't give this 4 stars was that I wanted more from the story and that it seemed a little long (I know, sounds like an oxymoron). I wanted more backstory from all three of them (how old is Rylee? I keep wondering), a little more deeper conversation, maybe the differences of personality between Lucian & Drace fleshed out a little more. I was perfectly having the story end with them deciding to keep their three-way bond. Though I do understand why for the sake of having a climax (story-wise lol), the author had them sever the bond & introduce more conflict (and pages) that way.

Reading another person's review made me agree how the other books had better details and were more exciting regarding an alien planet/world. And also the whole Alpha-Beta thing could be construed to be homophobic. Even Rylee thought so. (Yo, omg, all this time I thought the spelling of "Rylee" was odd but didn't know how else it would be spelled till just now when I realized that most people spell it like "Riley"!)

I had a feeling those supposedly extinct animals weren't actually extinct (I hope Lucian & Drace later reported that). And I would like to read Lord Mandrex's story. It seems like Evangeline had plans to write it as she was hinting to us at the end of the book but maybe just got busy & wanted to return to her Kindred?

On Amazon, this is marketed as an interracial romance just because the heroine is Black. But since the aliens in the other books are blue and red, shouldn't those books be marked as interracial romance, too? Personally, I don't think this one is really an interracial romance.

There were also some careless editing mistakes that could easily have been picked up with a simple reread.

I lowkey want to be picked up by a sexy alien on the Alien Mate Index (probably a Majoran). Reading this book made me feel slightly trapped on Earth. I don't want to live my whole life stuck on this planet! LOL, the heroines in this series are lucky.

I liked Rylee and loved her take charge attitude when faced with abduction by Lucien and Drace. Taken by the huge aliens to sever the bond that accidentally occurred between them. The adventure of a lifetime for all of them. There's danger as there always is when visiting other planets and cultures that you don't know. There's always someone who is against everything you might be trying to separate or even retain. And of course, there's love and lots of sexual tension. But the most significant issue is the challenge of racism and bigotry, not only against the bond that others believe shouldn't have been but between the three races involve, two from the same planet and the off-worlder from earth.

In true Evangeline Anderson fashion, this story is filled with intense action and suspense and erotic twists and turns that take this story from a simple attraction to a raging ménage. It was sweet and spicy and sexy, and I loved it.

Meh. I’m glad that I got to listen to this audio book free on Scribd.
I have loved many previous books by this author. But this series has been a little lackluster to me. The heroes in this book are faithless dicks.

They kidnap the heroine from earth, get her to fall in love with them, she plans to spend her life with them, and at the first test of faith these two losers completely flake. They then dump her back on earth and abandon her.

Weeks later they realize she’s in pain. They go to check on her and realize their abandonment caused her endless suffering.

So they seduce her again and all is forgiven!
Pretty lame.

There isn’t even an epilogue telling you that the one guy‘s mother was humiliated and punished. Nope nothing.

Lucian and Drace have bonded by mistake, and through a medium they´ve learned that the only way they can part ways, is by finding a Pure One willing to help.
When Rylee´s abducted from Earth and turned over to Lucian and Drace she accepts to assist them, but what she didn´t expect was the temporary bonding or how much emotions they would share.
When it´s time to part ways, will they be able to? Can she give up the love of two Alphas?
PNR Romance, emotions and smutty fluff in an awesome combo. Love this series!

I enjoyed the story for the most part- but I honestly did not understand the Alpha/Beta-ness of it all.

It was okay in this world for an Alpha to be with another man in a relationship with a woman as long as the guy is a Beta...but if its another Alpha thats considered demeaning to do sexual things with the guy only then?

I didn't understand....I just kept thinking it was kind of circularly homophobic in a way. Also I just kept thinking of this gif---lord help me.

Also the whole premise of the Mate Index and kidnapping human women to sell to aliens with no choice or consent is still an icky concept. I mean its worked out for the h's in any case...but still. Meh.

This had a great premise and started out well but just went down hill. They had a great chemistry pretty much throughout but the way they first came together, in a way forced, just took away from that first encounter. Then they don't talk, they assume over and over and even though they completely feel different, of course they do that is the point of this story so not a spoiler, they don't talk. He doesn't believe his mate when they finally talk. So, the end pretty much ruined anything that started well. The impossibilities always being broken, well that and the poor decisions by the men altogether. I pretty much hated the ending.
Since they had good chemistry and sex, I bumped it up but I'm really not sure as I can honestly say that it was somewhere between OK and bad. I guess because it started out good...

Severed (Alien Mate Index Book#4)

Evangeline Anderson

What do you do with two hunky Alpha male Denarians who find themselves needing a female to complete their Triumvirate? Why send them to the Alien Mate Index (AMI) for assistance of course! There’s just one tiny problem……this bonding was never supposed to happen in the first place!

On Denarius, a successful triad is one alpha, one beta and one female. No one ever heard of two Alphas bonding! But this is exactly what we find when we meet Lucian and Drace. They are worse than the Odd Couple, they bicker, they yell, they really don’t like each other. They are looking for a Pure One, a la-tiz-al, to take apart this unholy match! Enter Rylee Hale, one unsuspecting, curvy, innocent Earthling who happens to be a La-ti-zal with special qualities, who fits their bill very nicely! Add that Lucian and Drace are attracted to Rylee, whats not to like? Now they just have to convince Rylee she is the girl for the job!

What happens needs to be read to be believed, as these three go from one madcap adventure to another along the path the Goddess has designed. They were doomed from the start…right? Why then do they all feel so bad about being Severed? You really need to give this book a look…

I'm sorry, I really wanted to love this book like I did the previous ones. Truth be told I was very excited about it since it had 2 males. Unfortunately the story itself didn't do it for me. It was talk about alpha bad paring then sex, more talk about alpha bad paring and then more sex. There wasn't anything else to this book. They didn't learn much about each other aside from their basic info. The adventures were predictable. The sexual stuff I didn't find that hot. The whole enjoy each other in front of that man was ridiculous and I like a good voyeur story. A lot of these talents or abilities were like grasping for straws IMO. The ending wasn't very good, it felt forced. I just wasn't a fan of this story. Sorry. I was desperately hoping I would. I just didn't. And I'm sad about that.

Great story with some truly awful side characters, set in a world with a sadly rigid society. It may have started out that way, or maybe the customs need to be that way in the beginning, but is now fighting the change because sameness is comfortable. This is a strange mix for a world made up of ménage relationships. I imagine the scene of bonding may have been a re-enactment of the joining that was the founding of the Denerite way of life, because Ms. Anderson usually writes her males so Alpha. The first three may have had the same issues of how to work out how to be together, in various aspects of their relationship. So glad things did work out in the end. Very cleverly fixed by a possibly stealth Goddess? I wonder if the Goddess of Mercy's first name may be Evangeline, because the people in both universes do love our happy endings. Thanks for the great reading-world escape. I would definitely need to bring my own food if it was a real place, blech!

Was really looking forward to this one, but it fell flat for me. The characters were likable, but the plot was thin, the dialogue repetitive, and even the steamier moments felt like slight variations of the same same same. In her previous books (especially the first in this series), there seemed to be a lot more attention to the sci-fi details, which went a long way in creating and sustaining ideas and images of aliens, other planets, galaxies, space travel, etc. I enjoy this author and her work, so this read hasn't deterred me from checking out the next book in the series when it's released. I just hope it's a fuller, more vibrant story.

it was a good plot with adventures and unexpected nearly ending. But it wasn't over the top for me. it was a bit long maybe lack of excitement even with all that adventure.

A Black Heroine and characters named Porgy and Kess? COME ON!!!!!

I would have given this more stars but I just couldn't. I really like This author . I like these books , and I love the Brides of the Kindred series. However, it is very disappointing to find racial overtones even in what should be fun light paranormal reading . As a black woman, I try not to let these things bother me , but even when things are done in a joking way it smacks of overtones of racism. And it is hurtful. I read these books for fun and have to be hit in the face with racial in-jokes that aren't even funny. In this story and even in the Brides of the Kindred, the black girl gets something a little less then the White girls, even with aliens . Here, it is a Menage a Trois. In Brides of the Kindred, the black girl got the son of the biggest villain who was weird to say the least. WHY? I know not every author of science fiction has a Gene Roddenberry point of view, but it would be nice.

I have read several of Ms Anderson's books, "Brides of the Kindred", the "Crimson" series and a couple from the "Alien Mate Index" series. This one absolutely blew me away because it was very easy to empathise with the two alien males and censure that they have to face due to their unconventional bonding of two Alpha males. The 'action' is m/f/m, and it does become quite steamy, but it is not coarse.

I liked in particular that the underlying message was that in the face of finding the ones who can make you feel whole, you might have to face the censure of others: society, family etc, who want to be conventional. But sometimes conventional isn't right for you. Working that out is something which will resonate with a lot of people.

I was supplied with an ARC, but read and reviewed this book willingly.

This is the 4th book in this new series and I love it as much as the Kindreds. If you love out of this world romance then you're sure to be intrigued by this one. Earth woman vanish from Earth through mirrors and other reflective surfaces, Rylee finds herself with two Alien men Drace and Lucian. One blue and one green, yes smurf and hulk did cross my mind lol. These two alpha beings from enemy clans are accidently bonded and need Rylee to sever this bond only it's not as easy as they think. Prepare for this rocky journey to have you laughing and hoping they get their HEA. Other characters such as their families you'll love to hate. Oh did I mention the steam...holy moly the sex scenes, well don't read this book in public. I highly recommend this story and can't wait for the next one.

An erotic tale that is fantastically woven together. Rylee is chosen by Lucien and Drace to help them break their bond because they initially feel that their long standing clan (racial) hatred and alpha status will never allow them true love together. Rylee breaks all boundaries and a journey of great healing is taken by the three of them. This was a great steamy read but it really went so much further. It shows that people can change perceptions and when more open minded can learn to have true love and happiness. Difinetly a five star read not just for the erotic steam (which it has plenty) but for the true value of the story. My hat goes off and a standing ovation for this one!

Rylee and,Drace and Lucian were super fun to read. Drace and Lucian are Denarins both alpha born and accidently formed a bond that they both want to break. I really feel in love with each characters the way they all felt for each other the growth and time spent together was a treat to read. Rylee was a awesome leading lady i really loved how caring and protective she became towards the 2men this book is jammed pack with action drama and an ending that will make you wish to read more. Best book ever

Great Series

I really enjoyed reading this book it had so many emotions and the different ideals about what's a acceptable relationship is. Drace and Lucian are both Alphas from enemy clans who some how got accidentally throwing together as bond mates now there on a quest to find a Pure One to help them sever the bond. Never expecting on this journey that there lives were never going to be the same again. Overall a enjoyable and entertaining read looking forward to seeing what going to happen next in the series.

Another great addition to the series. If you like alien romance, then you will love this. Be warn that the scenes get extra steamy. This story involves a m/f/m relationship.

After reading this story you will want our belief in relationships to be just like the Denaris. Can't wait to see what happens with the next male alien that uses the alien mate index.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
