"What Would Jabotinsky Do?" is my new slogan ... What an amazing man, at least during the first forty years of his life. (I'll find out about the last twenty when I read the second volume.) The man had vision, determination, persistence, and was fearless. He also had an admirable ability to admit he was wrong (when he was, occasionally) and to learn from his mistakes. This biography is very well written, clearly presenting Jabotinsky's views and actions in the context of the historical circumstances, and clearly presenting the contrast between his views/actions and those both with and against whom he was working. (Plenty of details re: those who disagreed with him violently, even within the Zionist movement ....) The only reason I gave this only four stars instead of five is that this strength (the detail) is also a weakness: two volumes, 1000 pages total, is just a little too long ... But then again, for a long first volume it was very enjoyable and easy to finish ....
