My name is Detective Jarrod Granger, and you can say what you want about me. Call me arrogant, call me cocky, call me a man-whore, call me a renegade, call me a loose cannon. But one thing you can never say about me is that I don't get the job done.
I've dedicated my entire rocky, sex-fueled, tumultuous life to bringing down bad guys. I may not be able to keep a relationship, I may bounce from woman to woman like it’s some sort of competition, I may screw and drink like there’s no tomorrow, but if you're a criminal and on my radar, you're the one who’s screwed.
So when a woman is brutally murdered, decapitated, and put on display like a snowman in front of an elementary school, there's no other choice on who can handle it.
This kind of case requires someone willing to break the rules, someone who'll go the extra mile. It requires someone cocky, someone confident. A loose cannon. Because only someone whose life is a boiling hot mess of sex, liquor, and violence will be willing to do what it takes to hunt this killer down.
Sometimes it takes a man straddling the line between sane and crazy to catch a psycho.
WS (Will) Greer is the author of bestselling novels such as The Therapist Series, Kingdom, Interview with a Sadist, and The Darkest Kink. He's also a USAF veteran since enlisting in 2004, and retiring after 20 years of service in 2024.
WS prides himself on being a man who writes spicy romance with the absolute best of them, while also understanding and appreciating that he is a guest in the house of romance that women built.
WS grew up in Clovis, NM, and now resides in Delaware, where he lives with his wife--bestselling author Isabel Lucero--and 3 kids.
I have to say that W.S. Greer has grown remarkably as a writer. When I read Kingpin, I knew that he would become an incredible resource and blessing to the romantic suspense genre, and this book has proven me right! Now I think classifying this story as really romantic is a bit of a stretch, but this man sure banged out one hell of a suspenseful thriller!
This story was part Criminal Minds meets CSI meets "a show involving a guy who can't resist sex because he's dealing with a broken heart" LOL!! Detective Jarrod Granger was exactly as the blurb described him: cocky, arrogant and a manwhore. He was a loose cannon, hot-tempered and impatient. But he knew how to get the job done because he was damn good at it. His latest case involved a serial killer who was decapitating women and putting them on display like snowmen. Trying to find a killer yet Jarrod still found time to bang some women too. Stress relief, you know? All while he desperately pined away for Stacey, the woman who owned his heart.
There's a quote in this book that I think will stick with me for quite some time:
"You can't call a guy a big hairy tranny dick without him getting offended," - Marcus to Jarrod. Summed up Jarrod's style to a TEE!!
This book was raw, intense, exciting, graphic and somehow amazingly sexy too. If you're looking for a hearts and flowers kind of romance, you won't find that here. This was dark and suspenseful and I can't wait to read more of Jarrod!!
Release Date: December 5, 2016 Genre: Romantic Suspense/Thriller POV: Male - 1st person Steam Level: 4
I really like this author’s writing and couldn’t wait to get my hands on Red Snow. And I have to say that the author’s been very adventurous with his latest offering. Why? Well, he’s really gone to town with the character and plot development in such a way that I wasn’t sure if I was reading a book written by him! The title. It couldn’t have been more fitting. And I can’t dispute that the book is really well written; however, the detailed account of certain happenings upset me no end.
Now then; if you like tales overflowing with twists and turns, this is for you! So how would one about categorising such a read? It’s certainly not dark because Detective Jarrod Granger isn’t abusive in the sense that he treats women badly. Far from it. He loves the opposite sex, has a raging libido, drinks like a fish and not only lives and breathes for his job, but he’s good at it, too. Therefore, I'd say it's a thriller but with hmm. . . plenty, but plenty of sex! I did think Jarrod's cross-examining methods a tad exaggerated. I felt he overstepped the mark a in the interrogation room and in other places, but his partner tries his utmost to keep him in check. Jarrod has no time to waste though and pulls out the big guns in every sense of the word. (Pun unintended)! He wants results and nothing or nobody is going to hold him back.
Get prepared for nonstop action! The first intensely violent scene is as such that it made my hair stand on end! If there were ever an overload of sensory description in a book, it is here. And I’m not putting it lightly by saying it was like watching vividly horrifying images on the big screen. I have to say that Greer’s creative mind is nothing less than brilliant seeing he brought out such strong emotions in me. The story is told from Jerrod’s point of view and the reader even gets to delve into the thoughts of the psychopathic killer, Jeffrey. I’m not so sure it was a good idea giving me the opportunity of listening to the innermost-musings of such a shrouded individual. I couldn’t get my head around his actions or his reasoning which is probably just as well taking into consideration the reader isn’t supposed to connect to him on any sort of level.
Jarrod is brash, has no finesse whatsoever but likeable. Nonetheless, my esteem for him fell short when he succumbed to the temptations of someone who he shouldn’t even tallied the idea of having a lustful encounter with. You can’t imagine how disappointed I was that the author even considered this scenario. Okay, so the red rag was waved in front of a bull’s nose; and so what! In my eyes, Jarrod needed to be stronger and live up to his reputation, get on with the job and keep his you know what inside his pants.
From that point onwards, my interest in the story wavered; I carried on only to read more barbarities, more tropes and schemes which most definitely comes under a ‘loose cannon’. I honestly did try to get into it and regardless of the excellent writing, this read was not for me but don't be put off by my opinion because it might just be your cuppa!
So this one is a little on the violent side to say the least. If you are looking for a happy holiday read this is NOT the book. LOL!
Detective Jarrod Granger and his partner Marcus on trying to find a serial killer before anyone else loses their life. Women are being brutally murdered and put on display for all to see. Desperate to get to the bottom of the case and keep him from striking again Jarrod comes head to head with his own thoughts and feelings he has shoved to the back of his head.
Jeffery needs to kill – the vile things that has happened to him make him angry. He needs these women to understand what he wants. If they cant or even if they can in the end they need to pay. Okay so in my opinion both Jarrod and Jeffery are riding the crazy train but heading to a different stop. Jeffery and the reason he kills is something that will turn your stomach. I could barely read why and it hits home in the first chapter. I about threw up – no kidding. And the first woman to die .. uh yeah. Her description and why he chose her. BARF …
This was a really tough read – even for me. The person who loves her a good suspense and crime ridden storyline. If you like them really really off the charts then this book is for you.
Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets – I serious take note of the title – Red Snow … Thank you for the ARC.
⚠️ trigger warning ⚠️ this book contains a couple possible triggers so please be cautious while reading. This book also contains the killers POV which shocked the hell out of me since I wasn’t expecting it. Okay now onto my review. HOLY SHhht what in the actual?! Omg this book was just wow amazing. Y’all need to read it. I can’t even. I can usually predict what’s going to happen but nope not this time. It was so shocked and then I was breathless like WOOOOW!! This was my first W.S Greer book and now I need more. I found him on tiktok and am sooo glad I did. This book was just amazing if you’re into smut and serial killers. Totally everything I wanted and more. Plus the serial killer POV was just genius, creepy but genius. I definitely need more. This book is a must read for sure!! Okay that’s it wow
Wow!! What a read this is!! I loved it!! I read this book before reading Frozen Secrets which is the first Loose Cannon book (but both are standalones) so I hadn't met Jarrod and the other characters until now but it certainly didn't spoil reading this book first (I did go on to read Frozen Secrets straight after as I loved Red Snow soooo much!!) which is credit to WS's writing as he was able to explain and describe the characters well without me thinking I was missing something. This book has lots of twists and turns in the story, which I love in a book and I thought the book was well written. Red Snow is not a flowery romance novel... far from it. You can read from the blurb about the novel (I did double check to make sure this isn't a spoiler) that someone is brutally murdered and WS does describe this well but as someone who usually doesn't like horror stories, I still absolutely loved this book. I really hope that this isn't the last we see of Jarrod Granger.
Detective Jarrod Granger and his partner are on a case to find a serial killer & sycopath.
Red Snow is a steady going read told in Jarrod's pov. Jarrod shares his personal life including hot moments from his hook ups and feelings for his ex Stacey along with his thoughts and feelings on the case he is trying to solve as more women are found dead, women who are victims of brutal crimes and Jarrod desperately wants to find the killer.
A plot with a difference, there is also the disturbing thoughts of Jeffrey the killer as he also shares his pov.
Both Jarrod and his partner Marcus are on a mission to find the killer and as the plot progresses they get closer to finding their man.
Fans of reads with mystery, crime and suspense will enjoy Red Snow.
I personally enjoy more relationship content but it was a good read.
Arc gratefully received for review Bbbf-sizzlereads-bestbookboyfriends
Every book that WS writes, I cant wait to see what he comes up with next. I had no idea where this was going, but after reading the prologue, I was hooked!!
There's a serial killer on the loose and its up to Jarrod and Marcus to catch this maniac. Jarrod..what a beast!! He is bad ass and doesn't give a damn. His main goal as the detective along with Marcus, is to get cases solved while being a force to be reckoned with. We get his POV and what a POV it is. He is dealing with some unresolved feelings for his ex all while trying to solve this case. We also get the killer's POV and WOW! He was so messed up in so many ways, but it made it even more twisted. Not giving away anything, but this was one hell of a read. Things went down that I didn't even see coming, and in the end, I was just thinking about how I was going to put into words how much I enjoyed it.
I've been a fan since the beginning, and I can't wait to see what he has in store for us next!
This is the second book about Detective Jarrod Granger. The first book, I couldn’t stand him. I can sort of tolerate him now. You don’t have to read Frozen Secrets first. These do stand alone. But you will get background on Jarrod and Stacy if you do read it. Each book is about a different case he is working on.
The storyline is good. I liked getting random chapters in the killer’s point of view. He is one sick and messed up dude.
Once it was figured out who the Snowman Killer is, the story did get a little predictable. I wasn’t shocked, or completely surprised, by what happened.
The why behind the killings is so gross. But it didn’t bother me.
The plot and the writing was good, but I didn't like the H at all. There's a fine line between being cocky and straight asshole. Sadly Jarrod falls in the latter lines. For someone who proclaims to be an alpha he is passive about winning back his ex even though he claims to be in love with her. Although not sure if he does considering he sleeps with other women all the time.
Jarrod Granger is the one of the best homicide detectives around, and it helps that he's married to his job. However, it destroyed the one serious relationship he had, so now he tries to numb his pain with alcohol, and a revolving door of random hood ups. Most would call him a loose cannon, but he rarely fails at catching the bad guys. Things take a very serious turn when a woman is found brutally murdered, with her decapitated head on top of a snow man, in front of an elementary school. As he scrambles to turn up leads, will the detective willing to do whatever it takes, catch the murderer before more women die?!
Red Snow started with a bang, and it never slowed down. It kept my heart racing cover to cover, and it seriously took me a bit afterwards to get my pounding heart in control. The character development is good, but it was a bit hard for me to really connect with the sexy detective, with this fast paced storyline. I decided that maybe it was because I had not read about him before though, as I loved the whole premise. W.S. Greer has a talented writing style that I really enjoy, especially since it's from more of a man's POV. He caught my attention immediately, and didn't let it go until the very last page. Diabolical twists and turns swirled around, which made for some great f-bomb dropping worthy moments, and frankly, it was like one of my favorite shows, Criminal Minds, so I kept picturing Morgan. Anyway, I'm anxiously to read more about Jarrod and his crime fighting adventures, plus the ending kind of left me with some question marks in his personal life, so I'll just HIGHLY RECOMMEND this super exciting read!
Jarrod Granger is a man that we’ve all been warned about…A tough one to love but so good in bed!!! Aside from his great talent of knowing how to take care of his lady friends, he is a Detective. A very arrogant, do it my way or the highway type of detective. But you know what? He gets results working this way. Now his talents as a great detective are being called upon because there is a serial murder walking around town. What this murderer is doing is beyond sick. He murders females and sets them up on display to be found. Who is this sicko? What does Jarrod Granger have to do to solve this case and stop these bodies from showing up around town? In this book, we get a taste of what it takes for a detective to solve horrible crimes mixed with the personal life of an off duty detective. How hard it is for a person who does this type of work manages to remove his thoughts of the crimes he’s witnessed to try to lead a normal life of a single man looking to get laid!!!
Bah humbug! I should have known better just from reading the book blurb. Not the time of year for a brutal read such as this. Far more gritty and grim than I expected. And to also be a first time read from this author. I totally chose wrong. My bad! Might give this one another chance later down the line. I love a good dark, gritty and hard-to-read criminal suspense. But the timing must be right. And I've been much too busy Hohoho-ing that this one took the zing and bling out of the season.
Detective Jarrod Granger is a bad boy cop, who with his partner Marcus, is on the trail of a serial killer. This is told in Jarrod’s POV, and details his emotions and feeling regarding this search, as well as for his ex Stacey. This plot is detailed in ways that are intriguing and enthralling from the very beginning. I enjoy this author’s work, and I recommend for all readers. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book!
If you like a mystery with hot sex combined this is the one for you. Detective Jarrod was so focused on his work he let the love of his life slip through his fingers. This book will keep you turning the pages. It's full of angst and a psycho. It will take Jarrod and his partners mind and hard work to solve the case. But don't worry Jarrod still takes time to play. I highly recommend this book.
Suspenseful, explosive and gritty, this murder mystery is worth the read. Detective Jarrod and his partner Marcus are on the hunt for a serial killer and psychopath who is brutally killing women. As they search for the killer, a glimpse of who these men are and what makes them tick. The psychopath's own POV added another interesting dimension to this twisted crime thriller!
This book was intriguing right from the start. I have to admit it’s a little spicy (sexual), but it gives insight to who the main character is. I was a tad bit disappointed in the ending…. Which is why I gave 4 stars. I won’t say much more because I don’t want to spoil it. Overall a good read!
I must say I am very intrigued by the brash and detailed writing style Greer engaged in this book. I am new to this author and went in hoping for brilliance, and I was not let down. I know part of the straight-forward, brash and something lewd writing was based round the main character, as that was his personality. In my mind that made the story! I liked that the author went the extra mile to really pop the characters main characteristics. It felt as though we were connecting with the person and really getting to know his true side.
However, we were given a huge surprise when the author gave us a major twist and had the detective get lost on his journey. He's never npfailed to get the job done and has never let action get in the way of his work, no matter who she was, but he's never met one like this one. The Wild and very sexy turn we took threw me and in a brilliant way. The cocky man was thrown away and out came this new man, the one who was hidden all along. The author gave us depth beyond the norm and really creates characters who were levels of unique personality points and unexpected behaviour, just like real life.
I loved it.
Then we had the excellent pace. We were thrown through a whirl of sex, devious and cocky behaviour, slowed right up as we passed by the epic woman to catch his eye and then thrown straight back in the deep end, as we saw where that led. I liked it. It wS sexy, spicy and very exciting. I liked that I was always kept on my toes, waiting and wondering where we would be taken next.
I highly highly recommend this read and cannot wait to read more by this author.
**I was given this book for free and voluntarily provided my honest and unbiased review.
Red Snow by W.S. Greer was a thrilling 5 star read.
Detective Jarrod Granger is what I would like to call a bad boy cop who loves his job and knows exactly how to please a woman. “Jarrod Granger, you are a monster,” she says, breathing heavily. All I do is smile and try to catch my breath.
When Jarrod and his partner Marcus get a call for a homicide they are definitely shocked with what they see. It is horrifying and Jarrod and Marcus are determined to find the killer.
Sometimes it takes a man straddling the line between sane and crazy to catch a psycho.
As things move forward Jarrod not only has a case to deal with he also has feelings that he is dealing with for his ex-girlfriend Stacey. He tries to move forward with different women but it’s not helping. On top of this another murder occurs without any type of leads that is also adding more frustration
Can they catch the killer before he strikes again?
The story is in Jarrod’s POV however at times we get a glimpse through the psychopath's eyes. And oh my, this man is very twisted. All I can say is WOW. There are several twists and turns and something very shocking that I am still trying to recover from. I definitely did not expect that. Red Snow is a thrilling, suspenseful, dark, twisted read with some very hot sex scenes as well. I highly suggest you 1-click and get started today. Thank you W.S. Greer for such a thrilling and shocking read.

Jarrod Granger is a homicide detective in Anchorage Alaska. He is great at his job, great in bed, but he doesn't have much of a love life. His devotion is to the job and it lost him the love of his life. This story is about Jarrod's hunt for the Snowman Killer and, hopefully, the return of his ex - Stacey.
Red Snow is an overall good read. There are some violent parts but that is to be expected with a serial killer/murder story. WS Greer paints a vivid picture whether he is describing Jarrod's sex moves or the finding of the bodies of the Snowman's victims. Told almost entirely from Jarrod's POV, Greer gets into his hero's head while Jarrod unravels the mystery of a killer and when he is trying to reconcile his feelings about losing Stacey. This is a realistic view of a homicide detective's life. Gritty and in your face. Jarrod is an arrogant, slightly over-the-top guy who gets the job done.
The surrounding characters, such as Jarrod's partner Marcus, his boss Danielle and his friend with very sexy benefits Brandi are well written and make the story all the more interesting. The Snowman Killer is also a very detailed and well rounded character. This is the only other character whose POV we see and he has problems. A devious, mentally unstable guy, he is for perfect foils for Jarrod's tarnished hero
Definitely not a romance but a really good thriller of a book.
Red Snow was one twisted murder mystery. But it also packed some pretty hot heat with hot as hell homicide detective Jarrod Granger. Set in Anchorage Alaska there is a crazed killer has just left his victim on the lawn of the schoolyard she works at.
Jarrod and his partner, Marcus, are lead detectives assigned to this case. Jarrod is the arrogant, cocky and pretty much the bravado of the team, Marcus’s style is more patient, diplomatic and probably keeps them out of trouble as they work their cases. When the second murder happens, they know they have a serial killer at work and it’s up to them to get these solved.
Not only is Jarrod working on these unsolved murders but he’s also dealing with his love life …or lack of. Somewhat of a man-whore when it came to fill his sexy times…. He’s is still dealing with his feelings for his ex.
One of the things about Red Snow that was made more interesting was getting the assailant’s POV. WHOA! You really see just how messed up/sick and twisted he really is. Reading what the assailant thought was creepy and icky, not to mention what was done to the victims. ~shivers~
A good read but hold on to your horses, you are in for one hell of a ride!!
Homicide Detectives Jarred and Marcus are assigned to a gruesome new homicide case. A tortured body left in front of an elementary school. They've made their bones by solving a serial killer case and are immediately called on for this one. If you are looking for humor and a light story line, this is not for you. However, if you are looking for a gritty murder mystery, finding the killer is always a mystery, right, then this is for you. These guys are a great team as far as their techniques go. Each compliment the other, yet are very different. They work hard, play hard, and their sex is not the tender gentle kind.
While they chase down clues and interrogate suspects and witnesses, their love lives either thrive or crash. Jarrod is fighting more than the case, can he get over his ex? Is there a chance he can move on? One of my favorite parts of this book is the partnership. If I ever needed a cop to solve a case for me, it would be these guys. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
A suspenseful thriller full of mystery and crime. A who done it novel!
Red Snow by W.S. Greer was a dark, raw and very intense! The twists and turns in this book left me stunned beyond belief. This is not a hearts and flowers romance, its quite the opposite. Raunchy, demented, and mind blowing!
Red Snow is told through the hero's eyes, Detective Jarrod Granger. What's going on in his life, and how his new case is affecting him emotionally. Women are being brutally murdered, him and his partner have a serial killer on the loose and they must find him quick before there are any more victims.
Personally this was a tough read, some of the scenes in this story were very disturbing. But in a good way. This book is different from what I normally read, but I liked it.
Wow, what a way to start a book! This book will grab you from the very first page and keep those pages turning until the very end! There is plenty of action and drama to keep you going. Jarrod Granger is an ass. He is hurting from the break up of his relationship and he treats people the way he has been treated. There is no quarter for clingy women and no second chances given to anyone. Can anyone break down his hard, cold shell? Is he destined to end up alone with his work? When his best friend introduces him to a career driven young woman who isn't interested in any more than a bootie call, could this be a match made in heaven? Or will she get dragged down into the depravity of his work too? With twists and turns a plenty this book keeps you hooked, there are plenty of steamy scenes to keep you happy as well as a fabulous ending. Another fantastic read from WS Greer!
This is my first book by WS Greer and i totally loved it. Greer is a phenomenal writer weaving a brilliant tale of a murder suspense mixed with hot alpha-ness. This book is raw, intense, graphic in violence but the characters also give it sex appeal with sizzling chemistry.
As a fan of Criminal Minds I loved this murder/mystery. Detective Jarrod Granger is a cocky, arrogant, self proclaimed manwhore, who is also an amazing detective that gets results.
His latest case is a sick killer who displays his victims bodies in snowmen. He is trying to find the killer, get over his ex and have hot steamy sex with a new girl.
I certainly will be going to check out his other books now
⭐️I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of his book in exchange for an honest review from the author and Enticing Journey Promotions ⭐️
This was my first novel by Greer and a step outside my typical genre. That being said I truly enjoyed this story once I accepted that this was not a romance. I felt that Detective Jarrod Granger was a character who was easy to hate to love. Brash, arrogant, and unapologetic Granger was the main voice telling the story with small chapters interspersed by the antagonist. This story kept me on my toes and excited to follow along and problem solve with the detective. As a daughter of a police officer, I enjoyed that aspect. It was well written and really drew me in, staying up far too late to see if things worked out for Granger both personally and professionally. This story did deal with vivid descriptions of gruesome crime scenes and subject matter that may be difficult for some readers.
Such a suspenseful book, I loved Jarrod. He was brash and just plain upfront with his feelings and he did not care who he hurt. We get this story from his point of view, we see his feelings about the serial killer case he is working, as well as, his thoughts about his ex-girlfriend. There are a lot of twist and turns to this story, which made this book amazing. Just when I thought I had something figured out, something new would turn up. This is no where near a romance and I loved it. I certainly hope we see more of Jarrod. This is a very well written and descriptive story, if you like these type of books, then I definitely recommend this one.
What a suspenceful read!! It had me hooked right from the beginning and just kept going. WS Greer gave just enough pause between each thrilling moment to profess what I rear. Jarrod is one amazing cop, that gut instinct and passion is what makes this story. The sex is hot and raw but it is not the fluff that makes it a romance novel. It helps show the pasion that Jarrow expresses in all he does. It is his coping mechanism to process some of the most horrific images of his career. I look forward to see more of these characters and more suspence.
This is one intense twisted murder mystery of a story. There is a great plot threaded with crime and suspense, but along side that there is some heat and romance. It's not sweet hearts and flowers romance so if that's what your looking for in a read this book will not tick those boxes. I found some scenes disturbing but they fit in with the plot. The book is told from Jarrod's POV, i like to get more than one POV but I found that I enjoyed the read all the same. This is a dark engaging read.
