A pretty cool survey. Found some poetry that I really really love in here (chiefly:MacEwan, Cole, and Souster, and also reaffirmed my love of Purdy and Nowlan). I posted a lot of 'activity' on this book as I read it, poet by poet, so that might be the better place to look for a comprehensive review. I'm really happy that I've taken a few steps away from contemporary poetry lately, because the 'new' is always found in the 'old' and half the time the old is doubled down on weirdness just by how it has aged and that much more worthwhile. I will probably resume reading the new Metatron books, Babstock's work to date, and "w)here, the other canadian poetry" (which is like the anti-15-poets in its own way, the very hip resistant weirdos from the 60s70s, but equally RED in its cover).
enjoyed it!! took me a while though, i found the selection sorta random!!! found lots of poems i love though. highlights for me were definitely raymond souster’s poems. i enjoyed at least one poem from each poet and it was worth the read!!
