There is only so much you can teach about sculpture from a book. Hands on, and ad hoc is necessary for the real deal. But there is plenty here to get you off the ground with tool tips, how to make an armature, and some of the basic techniques on how to use the mediums for construction.
The book (paperback), is well constructed with fold-in covers to make your place; clear sized text, and great pictures.
