Author Joy Sorman  was a philosophy professor before she devoting herself to journalism and writing. Her first book was  Boys, Boys, Boys , a challenging feminist story about a girl who is a little different. Sorman also works in TV and radio journalism. Olivier Tallec is an illustrator based in Paris. Following his graduation from the École Supérieure d’Arts Graphiques, he worked in advertising as a graphic designer. He has subsequently devoted himself to illustration and has illustrated more than sixty books, eleven with Enchanted Lion Books including  Who What Where?   Louis I, King of the Sheep   and Big Wolf and Little Wolf and Who Done It? from Chronicle Books.

Joy Sorman, l'auteur du texte, a publié aux éditions Gallimard, Boys, boys, boys (Prix de Flore 2005), Du bruit (2007)... Elle est aussi l auteur d un essai (en collaboration), 14 femmes, pour un féminisme pragmatique (Gallimard, 2007) et chroniqueuse pour la télévision et la radio (Paris Première, France Inter). Son recueil de nouvelles Gros OEuvre, paru chez Gallimard en mars 2009, porte sur la maison et l habitation. Elle vit à Paris.

يعيش بلوب (السمكة القبيحة) ٣٠٠٠قدم تحت سطح المحيط الهادي. وفي كل عام يخرج بلوب إلى سطح الأرض ليشارك في مسابقة أقبح حيوان في العالم. يقطع مسافة طويلة للوصول إلى مقر المسابقة البعيد، مستقلًا الباخرة ثم القطار ثم الطائرة. وفي كل مرة يسافر فيها بلوب، يحرص على إخفاء شكله القبيح عن أنظار الناس كي لا يخافوا منه، فيرتدي معطفًا طويلًا وقبعةً كبيرة ونظارةً سوداء. لا يمل بلوب من المشاركة في المسابقة كل عام رغم أن ترتيبه دائمًا ما يكون الثاني أو الثالث. حتى يفوز أخيرًا بالمركز الأول وبلقب "أقبح حيوان في العالم". فيحظى بكل الامتيازات المخصصة بحامل اللقب ذلك العام ويصبح المتحدث الرسمي لكل الحيوانات القبيحة في العالم، ويلتقي بالملوك والرؤساء وتتصدر أخباره عناوين الصحف. وسرعان ما يصبح مشهورًا، فيتهافت الناس على التقاط الصور معه، والحصول على توقيعه. ورويدًا رويدًا تتسلل تلك الشهرة إلى قلبه وعقله، ويصيبه الغرور، ويصبح مزاجيًّا وصعب الإرضاء. ينقضي العام، وتُعقد المسابقة من جديد، ويفوز باللقب هذه المرة طائرٌ قبيح اسمه طائر الكاكوبا. وهكذا لا يطرق باب بلوب أحد، وينصرف عنه الناس، فيصاب بالاكتئاب، ويقرر الرجوع إلى البحر. وفي رحلة العودة لا يرتدي بلوب معطفه الطويل ولا قبعته الكبيرة ولا حتى نظارته السوداء، لكن الناس لا تتعرف عليه، ولا تنتبه لبشاعته، ولا تخاف منه كما كان يظن "ويتأمل". يغوص بلوب ٣٠٠٠قدم في عمق المحيط، وهناك يكتشف أن بجعبته الكثير من الحكايات التي تستحق أن يسمعها القابعون معه في ذلك العمق الكبير.

أحببت كل شيء في هذه القصة، ليس بسبب نصها الذكي، أو رسوماتها المعبرة والبسيطة في ظاهرها العميقة في تفاصيلها، وليس بسبب الأفكار والتساؤلات التي تسطع أمامنا ونحن نمضي مع بلوب في رحلته. أحببتها لأنها لا تحاول اقناعنا بما نعرفه جيدًا (عن الشهرة التي يمكنك أن تصنعها بسهولة ومن أي شيء وكل ما يرافقها)، أحببتها لأنها نجحت في إدهاشنا وإمتاعنا رغم كل ما نعرفه عن كل الحكايات التي تشبهها وتقول لنا الشيء نفسه. في رأيي هنا يكمن النجاح وهنا تكمن العبقرية.

بقي أن نعرف أن بلوب هو سمكة حقيقية تعيش على عمق ٣٠٠٠قدم في المحيط الهادي، وفي عام٢٠١٣ فاز بلقب أقبح حيوان في العالم، وأن جميع الحيوانات المذكورة في القصة هي الحيوانات التي شاركت في نفس المسابقة ذلك العام 😊

نُشرت بالفرنسية في٢٠١٥ وترجمت إلى الإنجليزية في٢٠١٧

What did you like about the book? This short (48 p.) novel follows the aspirations of Blob the Fish, as he strives for the pinnacle of life's achievement as the world's ugliest animal. And then, the inevitable fall into obscurity. I like the humorous cartoons depicting the adult world of celebrity and Blob's efforts to stay there.
I don't think this will have any traction in children's collections, because there are only adult characters in adult life situations.

On connait tous un animal, qu'on décrit comme "laid". Ici on en fait un concours et Blob veut à tout pris être cet animal le plus laid du monde. Le résultat ne peut donc être que drôle et décalé !
