Another Kaito Kid story that, once again, has zero stakes, and a mystery code story that works better in its native language. Whilst there isn't much to chew on here, Ms Wakasa presents an interesting new dynamic to come, and is the only real hook. Decent stuff, nothing amazing.

Betul, banyak perempuan yang mencurigakan >.<
Lanjutan kasus Nue. Sudah curiga kalau ternyata binatang imut itu ikut andil dalam kasus, *tumben*.
Lagi, pelajaran tentang betapa sayangnya seorang ibu kepada anaknya. Sampai-sampai si ibu rela melakukan apapun.
Terus ada kasus Kid di sini. Kok saya nangkapnya kali ini Kid gagal ya? Cuma datang doang untuk menjawab tantangan, tapi tidak berhasil membuka kotak. Atau bisa juga sih saya-nya saja yang tidak ngeh, huehehe. Yang pasti kasus ini lumayan romantis kalau menurut saya. Rada bitter sweet sih. Tapi romantis <3
Lalu ada wakil wali kelas baru di kelas Conan dan kawan-kawan. Ibu guru baru ini kikuk, tapi mencurigakan. Kasusnya lumayan menyeramkan dan berbahaya.
Lanjut ada kasus pembunuhan di kamar pas. Itu si korban mulutnya pedes amat. Kira-kira siapa yang membunuhnya ya?
At last, harus sabar lagi menunggu volume berikutnya. Dan selalu 5 bintang untuk Conan. I Love it <3

As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻

Personally, I think us DC fans love certain characters more than other (yes, Heiji, I mean you!), so sometimes when we are re-reading this series (like all the time!) you might wish to start at a specific case or start when a certain character is involved.

#1, I never call this CASE CLOSED. If you do, you're not a true fan of this series, so don't even bother reading my review or my personal opinions. I'm sorry if I offend you, but you offended me first by telling me you want to read CASE CLOSED or you just love Jimmy.
#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!

Conan itu emang paling jago ngulur-ngulur supaya lama tamatnya. Soalnya setelah bertebaran sedikit petunjuk tentang BO di vol. 90 kali ini ada sedikit petunjuk tentang siapa Sera sebenarnya. Dan ada satu kasus dimana Sera sengaja memancing ingatan Conan tentang pertemuan mereka.
Itu artinya, Sera tahu jati diri Conan sebenarnya.
Siapa yang kangen sama Kid? Haha kalian bakal dimanjakan sama aksi satu ini. Sayangnya sih karena Kid datang bukan untuk mencuri, nggak ada adegan spektakuler seperti berjalan di atas langit tanpa bantuan tali (siapa yang masih ingat kasus ini?)
Psstt ... Kid takut sama Okiya karena sesuatu hal 😅 dan ending yang buruk bagi Kid .... entah harus disyukurin atau dirayakan karena lagi-lagi kalah dari Conan.
Kemunculan tokoh misterius bisa menandakan 2 hal: pertama menjadikan semakin dekat dengan BO, atau kedua menjadikan komik ini menjadi lebih lama tamatnya. Apa pun opsinya, bagi aku sama-sama bikin nggak sabaran 😅
Setelah ada desas-desus campur codename RUM dalam kasus Koji Haneda, di vol. 91 ini muncul guru misterius bernama Rumi Wakasa yang menyembunyikan dirinya di balik topeng sifat ceroboh dan sosok seorang guru yang penakut. Nyatanya .... percayahlah, bakal kamu yang dibuat ketakutan sama dia 😂
Selain mengerikan, Rumi ini punya daya analisis yang keren. Soalnya dia sengaja memberi petunjuk untuk pemecahan kasus yang bikin Conan bingung setengah mati. Aku artikan itu sebagai bahwa Bu Rumi sudah mengetahui jawaban dari kasus tersebut dan mengamati Conan menyelesaikannya.
Kalau aku ceritakan panjang beuh!! Mending beli dan baca sendiri.
Hampir kelupaan: Ada tokoh yang mau mengatakan cinta lho 😘

Buku yang saya beli di Gramedia.com ini ternyata sampai satu hari setelah komik ini terbit tanggal 12 Juli kemarin. Good job Gramedia.com! Seperti biasa, saya membacanya tanpa membutuhkan waktu yang lama. Anyway, menurut perasaan saya, saya tidak menunggu terlalu lama untuk buku ke 91 ini. Entah perasaan saya saja mungkin.
Saya cukup suka dengan edisi ini karena ada cerita tentang Kaito Kid. Selain itu, masih juga misteri tentang Sera ini belum terbuka. Satu lagi, tetiba ada seorang ibu guru yang menjadi wakil wali kelas, super clumsy, tetapi sebenarnya menyembunyikan sesuatu, saya penasaran ia siapaaaaaaaaa. Satu lagi pertanyaan: mengapa Shinichi dan Ran memiliki kenangan yang sama mengenai anak kecil yang mirip Sera?
Hanya ada 4 kasus. Kasus pertama lanjutan dari buku sebelumnya. Kasus terakhir juga bersambung ke buku selanjutnya. Tidak sabar untuk edisi lanjutan.

Oke. Di buku ini, secara sekilas muncul cewek yang mengaku tunangan Heiji, yang ada juga di film Crimson Love Letter. Muncul juga bu guru Rumi, yang menurut bocoran yang saya dapat adalah .
Saya masih tidak bisa memberi bintang lebih dari dua karena tokoh baru semakin banyak sedangkan klimaks cerita organisasi jubah hitam makin tenggelam. Saya tambahkan satu bintang deh karena ada momen Kid ketemu Subaru Okiya/ Akai.
Saya menantikan cerita inti dan ending sesungguhnya dari Conan, ketika saya bisa memberi bintang empat bahkan mungkin lima. Semoga penantian mengikuti serial ini tidak akan memakan waktu seumur hidup saya. (Sigh...)

ya ampun, makin banyak chara baru di volume ini.. jadi penasaran.. siapa sih cewek yg ngaku2 bakalan memiliki heiji, trus siapa sih identitas asli bu guru baru yg diluarnya clumsy tp ternyata tanpa sepengetahuan conan dkk ternyata jago berantem & tatapan matanya itu loh sadis bin ngeri. conan juga mulai penasaran sama sera, berasa pernah ketemu pas masih kecil & penasaran juga dengan 2 kakak misterius sera yg rasa2nya seperti pernah ketemu tapi lupa dimana. tapi.. eh tapi.. kapan ya ni manga selese, ceritanya makin belibet bin ruwet, penasaran sama organisasi jubah hitam

Entah kenapa kasus bareng heiji selalu bikin bosan. Apalagi dengan analisis yang panjang banget dan menurutku sih, triknya agak gak masuk akal. Biasanya aku seneng sama kasus detektif cilik, tapi karena permainan kata dan huruf jepang jadinya rada bingung juga. Memutuskan gak akan beli lagi dulu deh komik conan karna udah menuhin lemari buku, nanti nunggu kabar booming kumpulan baju hitam mulai ada progress. Tapi taunya endingnya bikin penasaran. Demyu. :)))

Volume 91 opens with the conclusion of the Nue case. Conan, his girlfriend (when he’s his correct age) Ran Mouri (Rachel Moore), his rival Heiji Hattori (Harley Hartwell) and Heiji’s prospective girlfriend Kazuha Toyama (Kirsten Thomas) have been called out to a poverty-stricken village supposedly haunted by a nue, a monster with a lion’s head, a snake for a tail and a fearsome cry. It’s supposedly killed at least one person in the backstory and a corpse has been slashed to death.
But is the monster real (nah, this is not a series where that’s ever going to be the answer), is the killer trying to steal the lost treasure of the Tokugawa from Kurogane Pond, or is there something darker going on? One of the big clues requires a knowledge of hiragana, one of the Japanese writing systems, which is a downer, but there’s also a nice poignant twist from a variant of the nue legend.
Back in the big city, Sonoko Suzuki’s (Serena Sebastian) uncle Jirokichi accepts a donation for his museum of a rare book collection. There’s also a wooden puzzle box created by legendary master craftsman KIchiemon. Inside it are two items, one of great sentimental value to the donor’s widow, and the other is an oversized moonstone that’s on the Kaito Kid’s list. The idea is that as a master thief, Kaito Kid would be able to open the puzzle box without damaging it. The widow’s willing to risk losing the moonstone, as long as she can reclaim the other item which would be valueless to the gentleman thief.
Naturally, Kichiemon wants to make a challenge out of it. Conan is invited to attend as he’s figured out Kaito’s schemes before as the “Kid Katcher”, along with Ran, her inept private eye father Kogorou Mouri (Richard Moore), inventor Dr. Agasa, and Dr. Agasa’s ward Ai Haibara (Anita Hailey) (who is a scientist also shrunk by the experimental poison.) Also present are Captain Nakamori, the Kaito Kid’s police nemesis, and Subaru, Dr. Agasa’s mysterious next door neighbor.
That’s a lot of people to keep track of, and since the Kaito Kid is a master of disguise, he could be almost any one of them. Excluding Conan himself, and Ai, who are tiny children.
This is actually one of the stories where the Kid is more or less stymied and suffers mild consequences for his actions. Except for him, the story ends happily.
Next up, Conan’s class at school gets a new assistant teacher, Rumi Wakasa. She’s quite youthful-looking for 37, and adorably clumsy. Miss Kobayashi, the primary teacher, is worried about possible injuries, but glad of the help. At lunch, Ms. Wakasa approaches Conan, Ai, and the other Detective Kids Genta (George), Ayumi (Amy) and Mitsuhiko (Mitch) for help finding lime for the sports line marker.
There should be some in the old abandoned sports shed, which has a rumor about a teacher getting locked in and starving to death. No one’s been inside in years, and there’s still a torn class schedule on the floor. No lime up top, so time to check the trapdoor to the cellar. It’s perhaps not too surprising that there’s a skeleton down there, and not one of the school’s educational ones.
The corpse is holding an old sports day headband covered in what looks like random kanji. Conan realizes he’s seen this before, ten years ago when he was attending Teitan Elementary School the first time. It was tied to the door of the shack then, and a mysterious man warned him against untying it.
The police decide that the corpse is probably a thief who accidentally fell into the cellar and cracked his skull. However, the principal remembers there was a burglary nearby a decade ago and neither the criminals nor the loot were ever found. Conan realizes the items found in the shack are a code.
Sure enough, the remaining criminals come back to look for the loot. They even manage to jump Inspector Shiratori (Santos) the police officer assigned to the case. But when no one else is looking, Ms. Wakasa suddenly becomes super competent at fighting. Huh.
Fanservice time! Ran, Sonoko and Masumi Sera (another teen detective) have dragged Conan along on a trip to buy swimsuits. Conan is getting kind of hot and bothered, as he’s actually seventeen and very interested in girls despite his appearance. He does note that the style of suit Masumi picks at one point looks awfully familiar. Conan pretends to be bored and ducks out.
Naturally, this allows him to be around when a nasty customer berating a salesperson. Seems the dressing room wasn’t properly cleaned last week after a dog was in there, and she had an allergic reaction. To add more fire, the dog owner herself shows up and is nasty to both the other customer and the salesgirl. Oh, and to her own employee who’s along on the shopping trip.
When Conan meets up with the girls later, he describes the situation. Also, Ran has had her memory jogged by Masumi’s swimsuit, though the details still aren’t clear. But before this can be followed up, it turns out the abusive woman has been murdered in one of the three dressing rooms. There’s a dying clue, but which of the three people she’d just cheesed off is the killer. Or is it a fourth person whose shoes were there and have now disappeared?
There’s a special feature at issue’s end about Heiji and Kazuha’s rocky relationship.
Rumi Wakasa is important to the Rum storyline, so this is a key volume for collectors.

There should be some in the old abandoned sports shed, which has a rumor about a teacher getting locked in and starving to death. No one’s been inside in years, and there’s still a torn class schedule on the floor. No lime up top, so time to check the trapdoor to the cellar. It’s perhaps not too surprising that there’s a skeleton down there, and not one of the school’s educational ones.
The corpse is holding an old sports day headband covered in what looks like random kanji. Conan realizes he’s seen this before, ten years ago when he was attending Teitan Elementary School the first time. It was tied to the door of the shack then, and a mysterious man warned him against untying it.
The police decide that the corpse is probably a thief who accidentally fell into the cellar and cracked his skull. However, the principal remembers there was a burglary nearby a decade ago and neither the criminals nor the loot were ever found. Conan realizes the items found in the shack are a code.
Sure enough, the remaining criminals come back to look for the loot. They even manage to jump Inspector Shiratori (Santos) the police officer assigned to the case. But when no one else is looking, Ms. Wakasa suddenly becomes super competent at fighting. Huh.
Fanservice time! Ran, Sonoko and Masumi Sera (another teen detective) have dragged Conan along on a trip to buy swimsuits. Conan is getting kind of hot and bothered, as he’s actually seventeen and very interested in girls despite his appearance. He does note that the style of suit Masumi picks at one point looks awfully familiar. Conan pretends to be bored and ducks out.
Naturally, this allows him to be around when a nasty customer berating a salesperson. Seems the dressing room wasn’t properly cleaned last week after a dog was in there, and she had an allergic reaction. To add more fire, the dog owner herself shows up and is nasty to both the other customer and the salesgirl. Oh, and to her own employee who’s along on the shopping trip.
When Conan meets up with the girls later, he describes the situation. Also, Ran has had her memory jogged by Masumi’s swimsuit, though the details still aren’t clear. But before this can be followed up, it turns out the abusive woman has been murdered in one of the three dressing rooms. There’s a dying clue, but which of the three people she’d just cheesed off is the killer. Or is it a fourth person whose shoes were there and have now disappeared?
There’s a special feature at issue’s end about Heiji and Kazuha’s rocky relationship.
Rumi Wakasa is important to the Rum storyline, so this is a key volume for collectors.

A mythical creature is out killing people...and Harvey and Conan are hot on the trail...which feels colder than usual as they struggle to explain the phenomenon....at least at first! This story continues from volume 90 of Case Closed. The twist in this story is mighty interesting and I found myself unable to figure it all out, but it was an entertaining case for sure! The next story has to do with the return of the Kaito Kid! (Well maybe I should not say return, but he has not been around for a couple volumes) The stakes...the world's largest moonstone! Can Detective Conan stop Kaito from stealing this exquisite item? I love how this story ends, and the next story immediately connects and flows. A new teacher who seems...different/off enters the Junior Detectives lives! What is her hidden agenda? Finding a dead body at school would traumatize anyone but the group is excited to try to figure out a scytale. (A code used by Spartans in the past) The final story of this volume has Rachel and her friend's bikini shopping. But what starts out as something relaxing gets very serious when death comes calling! The story...almost (or at least feels like it's almost done) finishes...but you will have to wait for volume 92 for the conclusion!

Starting with the Hatori Heiji story line, debunking the Nue monster while catchi9ng a killer, and we are introduced to a woman who thinks she's destined to be Hatori's wife.... and that's the end of that story! They can't leave it like that, can they? Well, they did. But to make up for it, we get a Kaito Kid story, so all is forgiven. Then we have a Detective Boys story, where we are introduced to a new teacher, Wakasa, and there is more to her than she appears! The beginning of the next story is focusing on Ran, Sonoco and Sera trying on swim suits, making Conan uncomfortable (Ran thinks he's bored because he's a kid who has no interest in women in swimsuits). Of course someone ends up dead in a dressing room, and she has her hands arranged to convey a hidden death message. For the record, when someone is being murdered, taking the time to come up with a clever, complicated yet solvable puzzle to reveal the murderer is a lot to ask someone who is dying. They have bigger concerns then making sure the living can identify who murdered them. Yet it is common in Detective Conan's world.

The Moonstone and Cipher cases were pretty engaging, but I’m starting to get frustrated with how the story handles reveals. I really dislike it when revelations are dropped only to have the narrative immediately jump to a new case as if nothing happened. This formula is starting to wear thin for me.
I think I have a decent idea of who Ms. Wakasa is based on clues from previous volumes, but I’m still uncertain about where and when Conan/Shinichi and Ran met Sera and her family years ago. I’m hoping this was shown in earlier volumes, but if it’s something that supposedly happened off-page in the past, that would be disappointing.
… And who exactly is this Momiji Ooka? Is Aoyama trying to create a love triangle here? Please, no! We already have so many characters in the series that need more attention and development. Introducing new ones for romantic subplots just feels unnecessary at this point.
