Burrell has also enjoyed a satisfying career as a teacher, working with children of all ages with diverse backgrounds and special needs. Now in semi-retirement, Burrell continues to educate groups about social issues impacting children and write novels, many of which are inspired by actual cases.

Another great story from Teresa Burrell.
Story about underage abused children accused of murder. Sabre Brown is advocate lawyer, with the help of her friends and cowboy investigator JP, she's trying to prove their innocence.
This paragraph from the book: Every defendant deserves the best our constitution. can give him or her. I don't have to agree with my clients or like what they did, but if their rights aren't protected, then neither are ours. I'm defending their rights, not their actions.
This is all Sabre is about, read all the books in this series. You'll be laughing too, hick JPisms are funny.

Teresa Burrell’s THE ADVOVATE’S HOMICIDES returns attorney Sabre Brown to her ongoing fight within the San Diego juvenile dependency system providing representation and justice for children in need. Teresa Burrell introduces her protagonist Sabre Brown providing her readers with Sabre’s backstory. She skillfully transitions her readers back in time to the day of her client’s trial. Sabre’s client still professing his innocence leaving Sabre feeling she has let him down. Burrell jumps back to the present where Sabre is dealing with a similar trial. She creates in her storyline an atmosphere where Sabre discovers new information and clues surface her PI, JP, begins an investigation.
The author creates believable support characters adding to the suspense and intrigue to Burrell’s storyline. The interaction between Sabre and her colleague Bob help readers understand the action in the courtroom. Readers follow Sabre and Bob’s conversations regarding the actions of the judge in his rulings about her client and other delinquents. It's murder not to listen to this book
Another great book by this author. The thing I like best is even when you have worked out who the killer is the author has you second guessing and even triple guessing that you have got it right as the story continues with the many twists and suspects.
I love the characters and the interaction between each other making a serious subject fun and entertaining.
The narrator was very good and I have got used to his funny voices for male characters. Which a few times can be a bit deep, making me laugh

Teresa Burrell is on the right mountain and then got off the chair lift on the right slope..AGAIN!! I have been hooked on her "Advocate" series since book one and this last is A-MAY-ZING. Ms. Burrell's characters are truly real and once on a case are like the dog with the proverbial bone. Her protagonist, Sabre Orin Brown, has such a love for children and obtaining justice for them that it makes you root so hard for her to succeed and she doesn't let you down. In this book you will reconnect with old friends like JP, the cutest cowboy investigator in San Diego, Bob Clark, another attorney and Sabre's best friend, as well as all their friends and contacts throughout numerous law enforcement and child protective agencies. Sabre and JP know her client has to be innocent - but how to prove it when everything is pointing the other way? You're only gonna know by picking up this series and get to reading!! It will be time well spent. And an added bonus, Ms. Burrell's books are not filled with graphic language or steamy sexual scenes. A joy to read!

The Advocate's Homicides is another great read from Teresa Burrell's The Advocate series (this is book eight although the book stands perfectly well on its own). There are many things I really like about these books: the characters are likeable, the plots are creative and interesting and I always learn something, the writing is well done, the editing is good (typos and misused words drive me crazy), and the books are clean (although they often cover difficult topics, I would feel comfortable giving them to a teen to read).
In this book, a pedophile is murdered and attorney Sabre Brown, a legal advocate for juveniles in the state's Social Services department, must defend one of the children in her care against the murder charge. The boy is innocent but the evidence against him is compelling and is confounded by the fact that he has absolutely no memory of the incident. Sabre, her investigator, JP Torn, and others set out to both defend him and find the real killer. As this case unfolds and other murders occur, we are led through the maze of clues until we finally arrive at the answer. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip!

This book starts off 3 years in the past and Sabre has to defend her 14 year old client of murdering his abuser. There is not much in favor of her client and even though Sabre believes in his innocence she loses the case. 3 years later 2 more bodies are found with striking similarities of the first murder, 2 more boys are accused of killing their abusers and like the first boy they maintain that they are innocent. Can Sabre and J.P. find the real killer this time around.
As with all of Teresa's books this one grabs you from the first page and keeps you going. I love a book that keeps you guessing on who did it and this one is no different. The description of each of the suspects had me bouncing from one person to the next and then back again. I will confess I almost cheated and skipped to the end to find out if I was right or not.
Sometimes when you read a series you find that the characters get stale, their personalities change or you just get tired of it. Not so in The Advocates series, like a fine wine they just get better with age and I for one cannot wait for "I" to come out. I may have to re-read my series so I can get my Sabre and J.P. fix til then.

Sabre must define her young client against the charge of murder. She fails and he is sent to prison. When more dead bodies appear after several years, she once again must defend another young client. She keeps going back to Tray's case where she failed. She and her colleagues start to analyze what is the connection between these boys who are wards of the court and the murdered men. When they are able to establish the connection it then becomes who and why are the boys being targeted.
This was one I had a hard time putting down. I liked the legal aspect of the cases. I enjoyed how Sabre, JP, and the other attorneys slowly pieced the puzzle together of what was happening. I liked that the cops showed respect towards JP as he did his investigation. The mystery was good. I did suspect who it might have been (turns out I was right for once.) I just needed the how of it.
A good read in this series. I look forward to more books with Sabre and JP (and Bob, too.)

Sabre, JP and Bob are back and better than ever. Teresa Burrell's writing continues to thrill. The interaction between her characters as they work through twisted storylines is amazing. As each new installment in the Advocate series is released, I become increasingly attached to Ms. Burrell's characters. Her highly plausible plot lines are filled with twists and turns that draw readers in and keep them reading. The Advocate's Homicides is no exception. From beginning to end, I couldn't put the book down. Just when I thought I had figured things out, the story would take a twist or a turn and I'd discover that my theories were way off track. It kept me guessing! I would highly recommend The Advocate's Homicides to fans of mystery, suspense, detective novels and, generally, anyone looking for a great read.

Sabre and JP are true to form, always seeking the best legal solution, and in this novel, trying to free an innocent boy from prison. There are four murdered child molesters, and the boys they abused all lived in the same group home at different times. The police are convinced that the boys are the killers, while Sabre is convinced of their innocence. So who did it? Or was it a conspiracy of vigilantes? You will want to read this book; it's everything a good mystery should be

I received this book free from Goodreads. Excellent book. The Advocate's Homicides has the reader guessing right up until the very end who committed the murders. Men who had sexually abused some boys wind up dead. Every person involved in the case could have done it. It is not til the last minute that the real killer come to the surface.
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend this to all of my reader friends. Teresa Burrell has other Advocate book and I look forward to reading them.

I love this series, and this installment did not disappoint! Ms. Burrell does a great job of making you feel for her characters. I was never convinced of Trey's guilt despite the evidence against him, and the resolution was something I never expected. The legal aspects of this book were fantastic as always and add another layer to an amazing story. I am also thrilled to watch J.P. and Sabre's relationship progress! I cannot wait until the next book!

I love this series and this is my favorite book in it. The story is something that happens every day in our justice system. The Advocate Series
This series is a joyful read from the first to the last book. The characters are likeable and believable, building on their relationships throughout the series. Even though you can read them in any order, I would recommend that you start with The Advocate, which is number 1. Am waiting for number 9.

Another Mystery With Many Twist & Turns
I’m really enjoying the “Advocate” series. It’s fun to pick up a book and realize after a few pages you are hooked to the end.

The book “The Advocate's Homicides” by Teresa Burrell is the eighth book in “The Advocate Series” but the first one I have read. This story is about Sabre Brown, an attorney, who tries to help a teenage boy who has been accused of murdering the guy who molested him. Sabre believes he is innocent and sets out to solve the case. It is not until years later that more bodies are discovered, and Sabre starts getting some answers.
I enjoyed reading “The Advocate's Homicides” because although I figured out who the murderer was early on, Burrell kept me second guessing myself till the end. I also learned what a “goof” is and will no longer be using that word. The story reminded me a little bit of the television series Law and Order: SVU. In this story there are victims of sexual abuse, attorneys and courtroom scenes. The only thing missing was a strong police presence. However, I preferred it that way. I liked that Burrell focused on the seriousness of the case and did not add too much of the background drama that usually ends up taking away from the story. In this book Burrell shines light on sexual abuse victims and brings to attention that they are not always female. She also touches on how the courts sometimes fail the victims of sexual abuse.
Overall, I liked this book and would like to read the other books in this series. Sabre and JP were likeable characters and I am curious about the other cases they have worked on together. If you like serious murder mysteries, then this is the book for you!

The Advocate's Homicides follows a perplexing situation for a boy who was made a ward of the state due to parental neglect. A boyfriend of his mother had abused him, and he was staying with a loving foster family. Suddenly, he is arrested for the murder of his former abuser. Fortunately, there are many adults in his life who know him and they all believe that he would not commit such a crime. They work together to straighten things out, but the situation becomes more complicated.
The urgency of the problems will keep a reader turning pages, hoping for a way out of the bad news, and worse news. The characters do not have a lot of depth, there's a beagle that makes some very short appearances which is probably to add a hint of warm and fuzzy to his owner. If you want a page turner which will have you wanting to pray for the innocents and hoping the bad things will stop, this should do the job.
There are enough characters that you might want to make a list to refer to. Now is Glen the one who . . . , or was that Greg? Sometimes you get a first name, sometimes a last name, sometimes a nickname. Or maybe this reviewer is having short term memory problems.

Another good read from Teresa Burrell. This book starts 3 years back, when Sabre Browne, a juvenile attorney and JP Torn, her private investigator try to save an innocent teenager who has been molested by the victim. Tray, the kid was found guilty by the jury on the account of Second Degree Murder.
Even though Sabre & JP gave thier best to save this teenager, they failed miserably as the case was getting more and more confusing. Even though all the proofs were piling against Tray, who maintained his stance as Innocent, but Sabre has a firm belief that there were more to this case that meets the eye.
3 years later, 3 more bodies were dug up at the same place where Tray's supposedly molester was murdered and buried and they all had one common factor - Mary Ellen Wilson Group Home.
So is Tray finally going to get justice after serving 3 years of prison where he was beaten up twice or are the 3 other teenagers who were molested are going to be left dissapointed by the system again ?
Read this thriller to meet your curiosity...

The Advocate's Homicides: Legal Suspense Murder Mystery (The Advocate Series Book 8), my ninth enjoyable read from author Teresa Burrell. An 8-hour 26-minute/343-page legal thriller featuring Sabre Brown as a child advocate attorney. This book flashes back in time before Sabre was dating, oops, no spoilers from me. You'll have to read the book for yourself. John Bell's narration adds to an excellent book's enjoyment. “I received a free Audible copy and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I own 11 of this author's works in this series and look forward to reading more, The Advocate's Homicides: Legal Suspense Murder Mystery (The Advocate Series Book 8) is next on my TBR list. I'm on a mission to read all the books I own in the series, they're that good! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

I liked the story flow, well-defined characters, and complex plot in this legal thriller/murder mystery. However, the subject matter is a very unpleasant one, trying to find the killer of a pedophile to prove the innocence of one of his victims. Eventually the system fails the innocent victim and victimizes him again buy trying him as an adult and finding him guilty of the murder, although he denies having anything to do with it. The rest of the book is about attempts at finding out if he was the killer and if not, trying to find how did it. Meanwhile bodies of several other pedophiles are found in the same burial ground where the first one was found years earlier, puzzling the authorities how the crime was committed and by whom.

All of the circumstantial evidence points to Sabre's young defendant, but she can't believe it's true. A few years after losing the case more bodies are found, all child abusers. Can Sabre and her comrades solve this mystery before more young boys go to jail? A well written story with a twisted plot.

This story is very intense. It pits two timelines and engages the past and present to find the real killer. This story engaged me as I tried to figure out who the real killer is, as a young innocent boy is sent to jail for killing his abuser. This story had more emotional punch than the last couple of stories, but that is probably because the subject is an intensely emotional problem we have in this society. The narrator does an excellent job with the voices and engages you quickly into the action.

I was so confused by the beginning of this book that I went back and read reviews. One happened to mention that the action started three years before. It was not until halfway through that it fast forwards to present day. It was a great storyline which kept me guessing until the very end. I was stumped. I'm not sure why the author bothers with the Sabre/JT relationship. There is no passion there, just the affection of two friends. Neither seems very vested in the other.

Love, love, love all the Advocate books!
After reading a couple of the Advocate books, I had to find the rest! Very seldom do I feel the need to do that! This one was amazing, just like the others....I just hope there are more to come! Along with courtroom drama, investigation with JP, I have to find out how Sabre and JP's personal connection plays out. Just can't get enough of the Advocate series!

As usual so much great information about juvenile court. It's so tense reading about cases that may or may not work out even if you know the guilt or innocence. The timeframe to get anything through the courts can feel like an eternity if you are the one who's life could be irreparably changed. Although her novels can stand alone I would recommend reading the series from the beginning. I can highly recommend. Gbash

Must read story full of surprises
This novel is a real page turner that you won't want to put down, this storyline is a literary masterpiece that flows like a fast moving river. Teresa Burrell has created a magnificently entertaining well written story that is jam packed with suspense and mayhem. This wasn't my favorite of the Advocate series and took me awhile to get through. I felt that it moved rather slowly and didn't really pique my interest until almost the 70% mark., However, at that point, it picked up enough to earn the five stars I gave it. I will continue to enjoy the association that Sabre, JP and Bob have in future books.
PS It also deserves the extra star I gave it because it was clean and one I can feel free to recommend.

This book will make you angry at the juvenile court system
This one has lots of plots and stories to keep up with and you’ll like all of the main characters. It will break your heart and make you hate the villain, when you finally figure out who that is. I suspected who it was several times but it was interesting how it finally unravels. Don’t miss this book and don’t miss the series.
