I didn't love this story. The writing was only decent. The plot was not well planned; it was really a string of vignettes about living in Alaska with a couple of hasty romances thrown in. There wasn't much character development, and the whole Amber subplot was distracting from Lauren's story. And for the love of everything, learn how to make proper nouns plural without trying to use an apostrophe! They are the Dornans, not the Dornan's. I hate that. That said, I gave this three stars because it delivered on its promise to be a clean story and because I finished reading it. I don't know if I will read more by this author, though.
I really loved this fast paced action adventure. It was great to read about the beautiful state of Alaska. I loved the two cousins that reunited and became fast friends again. Great story but Four stars because even though this was a clean action story it was labeled as Christian on Amazon. I don't know where that came from as they don't mention God once.
This very short story, quick read The author has Used words To engage the reader in the story. The characters were so different and yet meshed very well together. Never say never and sometimes believing in gypsies is a good thing. I look forward to reading more of these Alaskan books by this author.
This story had great potential that fell rather flat. Story was very disjointed and characters and relationships not well developed to be believable. For being in Alaska for a year, it was the fastest most uninteresting year possible. Sorry.
It has the makings of great book, but middle to end was a big flop. I believe the writer was in a hurry to finish this book. I would love to read this book again with a better ending
A Single Year in the Bush tells the story of jilted Lauren Conrad, a magazine writer from Boston and her adventure of living a year in the Alaska Bush far from civilization. She thought she would only have bears, wolves and moose and take a year off men. Little did she know she would meet several very sexy and desirable men living so far from civilization. Amber her adventurous cousin and best friend talks her into homestead sitting for a couple to go to Iceland to study caribou and compare them to the ones they study at home in Alaska.
The setting and adventures are realistic for Alaska (I know I have been there three times) and the romance is sweet for both girls and they make their dreams come true with Grandma in attendance to enjoy the fun with them and the rest of the family.
I purchased A Single Year in the Bush as part of an anthology.
