Great Story!

Loved this book! The author makes a comment at the end of the book that he believes he needs to work on making the characters more engaging. I beg to differ. His character are engaging, so much so that you begin to feel ad though you know then intimately. He has crafted each as a unique abd believable person. The story line is great. For being his first book, I believe it is his first but I could be wrong, it speaks of talent and and maturity as a writer. I have read so many apocalyptic and or zombie novels, too many to count, that I can recognize true talent before reaching the end of the first chapter. If you too have read a vast number, then you know exactly what im talking about. After a while you find that you can begin to predict what happens next, can predict what each character will be like, react like, etc. But then every so often you come across a jewel or a jewel in the rough and you find your self doing the "finally an original" dance. To those of use whose passion is inhaling books left n right, you know what I'm talking about. This book, for me, was one of those moments. I immediately was in love with the characters, and in hate some later on, and couldn't wait to see what the author had in store for them. This is a must read. My only negative, if you want to call it that, is that to me, its not a full novel but rather the size of a novella. I rarely buy books with less than 279 pages minimum and this is why. It has been my experience that many authors are now taking a novel and dividing it up into two or three seperate parts calling each a Novel, full book etc. Some will make the first book a full novel and then take the next book that continues the story, divide it up into novellas and pass them off as novels charging fair price for a full novel instead of a novella. When I see this happen, no matter how good book one was, I will not purchase those that follow. Its a matter of integrity for me. If its a novella, call it a novella and then charge the fair price for a novella. Sadly, I am noticing that more and more authors, once they become well know and hit that "favorites" list, start breaking up there books into Novellas yet still charge for a full size book. On principle, I made the decision to buy no more books from them. There are many other authors out there just as good yet fair, writing from passion and not for profit. These authors sell ten times, or more, books than the for profit authors do and end up being able to support themselves, writing full time.
I also will not pay over a certain amount for a book with less that 250 words. I know the time, and effort it takes to write a book and that is worth money but if you are writing for love of writing, you will charge fair price and you will sell many more books than if the price is not fair. Those of us who devour books as though they are grapes always will buy just about anything, as long as its fair in price because we go thru so many in a months time and many have a limited budget. So, after sharing my pet peeve, lolol I am hoping that the next in this series is classified correctly and priced appropriately.
