***4,5 "Suspicious" stars***

Wow!!! This book was really good!!! And i enjoyed every single moment in there...
This is a young adult story full of suspense and mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat for the most part!!!

And it was making you wonder all the damn time who was the killer and who will his next victim... and why the hell he was acting like that!!!
The suspicions were falling in almost everyone... You could suspect even the most innocent!!!

"Fear is power. They fear me. They don’t fear me enough.
Every year a girl disappears in Gavert County, Texas. Their bodies are found days, sometimes months, later with an angel wing carved on their face.
They call me “the Angel Killer” and I’m on the hunt again.
But this time, it’s personal."

Erin is a seventeen year old girl who is living at a town where a serial killer has chosen to be the place of his murders for 5 years in the row...

Erin seems to have it all... She is a cheerleader, she has her family and her best friend Nadia and she is about to participate in Miss Junior Queen of Hearts pageant...
But not everything is like it seems...

Erin's home is almost destroyed... Her mother is suffering from depression and her father is the main suspect as the Angel Killer... She and her little brother are struggling to get through everything alone...
Her only strength is her beloving friend Nadia and her love about Dimitri, Nadia's brother. But Dimitri doesn't seem to be interested in her...
And not only that, but the killer is changing his pattern and everything seems to be connected with her...

"This is ridiculous. Life is short and instead of grabbing it with my heart, there’s this distance I’m afraid to cross. Afraid to get shot down, because if I do, I’m pretty sure the hope within me will be squashed and it’s going to hurt too much."

Dimitri's life changed after a stupid accident that changed his life forever... He used to be the football star in the highschool but after the accident, he wasn't the same anymore...
Now, he is struggling to find his place in life...
The only person who can understand him is Nadia's best friend, Erin...

A girl who is lingering inside his heart for many years now, but by whom he has to stay away from...
And now, the Angel Killer is stricking for once again and Dimitri is becoming another one suspect in the eyes of the police...

"I can't stop staring.
I could lose myself in her.
I could find myself in her."

As you can understand, the book was written mainly from Erin's and Dimitri's POV, but we were having many glimpses also from the killer...
Why his pattern changed??? Why he seems to have an obsession with both Erin and Dimitri???

Is he Erin's father??? Or someone else???
Who can they trust??? And who is not who he is pretending that he is???

"Fear.
There’s something about fear.
It’s intoxicating.
The helplessness they feel.
The adrenaline and need and wants it unleashes.
Fear rights the wrongs.
Fear is power.
And for once, I have all the power.
They’re never going to save them.
They’re never going to catch me.
They’re never going to understand."

The only thing that i can say to you is that at the same time with the murders and the agony, Dimitri and Erin were coming closer and closer...

All this mess was making them to revaluate what was worthying in life...
But there is one person who's standing between them!!! The killer...
Will they manage to get through this testament and be winners or will they lose everything???

"It’s a weird feeling: being happy in the chaos.
Feeling alive and fearing for the life of people you love."

I really enjoyed this book very much and i can't wait to read the next books!!!
I'm sure that they will be amazing as this one was...

I'm also so curious about Tessa and i really want to see Nadia happy for once again...
In some point, my heart was aching for her!!!
Ms. Nowodazkij did a great job in this novel!!!

Gavert City is a haunted small town. For seven years a serial killer has been terrorizing it. Every year in September one girl goes missing. Several days after, she's going to be found dead with an angel carved on her face. Angel Killer.
And this year is no different. Former cheerleader captain, Rachel, left her home one night and she never came back. They have yet to find her body. So everyone is cautious. Police cars on the streets at all times. All parents trying to keep their children locked up. No one walking around without glancing over their shoulder.

Erin Hortz has a really hard time dealing with school because her dad is the primal suspect in the case. She's not even sure if he could or couldn't be the killer. He changed over the years, becoming more and more distant, not caring the same about her and her little brother, Caleb. So she doesn't trust him anymore. Often gets scared of him and the way he treats her isn't helping his case.
Their mom is also an absent parent; she's fighting depression and most of the time she just sits in her room crying or sleeping. No help from there, either.
The only people in her life who really supports her are her best friends Nadia and her brother Dimitri, and Audrey.

Erin loves Dimitri since they were kids. Two years older than she is, he missed his change to become an NFL football player. Angry at his mom's cancer coming back, he got drunk and had an accident, almost ending his life and his best friends`.
Wanting nothing more than to be enough to deserve Erin, just like her dad warn him, he tries to mentain their frienship, fighting his desire to be with her. And in the middle of this chaos he wants nothing more than to be with her.

"I can't stop staring. I could lose myself in her. I could find myself in her."

Everything changes when the killer changes his mode of operanting and more than one body shows up. More girls are disappearing and things seems to be getting more personal when Dimitri gets a call from Rachel`s cell phone.

"..mine, mine, mine." The voice said.

What i loved about this book is the tight relations they had. Nadia and Dimitri, Erin and Caleb - as brothers. They really cared for each other. Always checking if the other one is safe. There is nothing better than to have someone who loves you unconditionally. To give you everything.
Nadia and her long time boyfriend, Liam. So loving. So protective.
And then, Erin and Dimitri. They are so sweet and what they have is rare and i was so happy when they got together because they really needed it. I loved Dimi immediately. He's one of those characters you fall for from the first chapter. Caring and a really good man.

"Happiness takes a bubble bath inside my chest. It's a weird feeling: being happy in the chaos. Feeling alive and fearing for the life of the people you love."

The story was well written and i didn't miss a word from it. I can't wait for the next. <3
There is a reason this book doesn't get more than 3 stars from me. How could you do it, dear Elodie?

This review is based on the ARC received from the author and /or the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.

I was fascinated from the beginning. The suspense and trying to figure out 'whodunit' before it was revealed in the book was amazing. HINT: it wasn't who I thought it would be. There was some darling romance.

It's interesting that in the tagline on Goodreads it mentioned Scream being similar to this book as once I had finished reading it reminded me of Scream as well with the serial killer, though of course, they don't wear a mask that we know of. In the town of Galvert City, every year a girl goes missing and then turns up dead with an Angel carved into her skin. Erin has always been warned about the killer and when a cheerleader whom she knew goes missing, the town is on edge again. For Erin though this is personal every time someone goes missing and turns up dead as her father who was once a beloved teacher ends up always being one of the main suspects despite their not being any concrete evidence besides the fact that he taught the girls. The chief of police also seems to have it out for Erin's dad as when they were younger, the chief's brother Ben died and he has blamed Erin's dad for the accident. In Fear Me, Fear Me Not we read as Erin tries to move on with her life with her best friend Nadia and her new boyfriend Dmitri - Nadia's older brother. However, when the killings start to speed up and Dmitri also becomes a suspect - is someone targeting people connected to Erin and why? When the Angel Killer was revealed - part of it I was like of course that was obvious but then they chucked a huge twist in and it was like Woah, there and that part strongly reminded me of Scream as remember how the killer turned out to be related to the main female in the TV Series that aired a few years back. I am now looking forward to reading the next books in the Galvert City series. Fear Me, Fear Me Not is the perfect read for those who love their YA Thrillers and Mystery novels. Fear Me, Fear Me Not was filled with not only murder but high school antics and everything that goes into the pressures of being a teen in today's world.

Intriguing thriller

This was really interesting and kept me guessing throughout the book. I liked the little glimpses we got of the killer's thoughts, that made it creepy and also have clues to help you try to find the murderer. The focus was mostly on Erin and Dimitri and how their lives were falling apart because of accusations and the investigation. Although they both had plenty of drama going on, they managed to cling to each other and hold the other up. I liked the romance and also the bond between Erin and her little brother Caleb.
It felt a little slow at times, but I had a good time reading and trying to figure out who the killer was.

I received this book courtesy of Elodie in exchange for an honest review

Omg this book was i-n-s-a-n-e!!! I loved the alternating chapters and how it kept you guessing until the killer is identified.

I've been trying to figure out how to write this review without giving away spoilers. If you love thrillers and romance I highly suggest reading this book. It's full of twists, turns and with that added dash of romance it's perfect.

The main characters Dimitri and Erin are awesome. I'd totally date Dimitri. He's amazing. Erin is very protective and I think she'd make a great friend. Great friends and family just add that extra boost to make this even better.

This book made me laugh and cry. I fell in love with most of the characters. I also had extreme dislike for a few of the characters. It's pretty much everything I'd want to read in a romance/thriller.

Just read the book.

This is a YA suspense and romance story. It’s set in a small town in Texas. I felt like the theme and characters are appropriate for this genre. I saw several reviews about the language which didn’t bother me and it’s reality how young adults talk. I really enjoyed having the killers point of view woven into this story which you don’t always get to see that layer. The narrator was new to me and I thought she did a pretty good job.

I requested this audiobook from www.audiobooksunleashed.com for free and have voluntarily left this review.

Review based on an ARC provided by Netgalley. I want to also thank the publisher for giving me this opportunity.

An exciting thriller, but the romance plot belonged with its own story.

Erin has too many problems with her mother being too out of it for a long time, being in love with her best friend's brother who has an ex-girlfriend missing, her younger brother needing parental attention, and her being every year the suspect of being a serial killer. And this year the Angel Killer seems to have made another victim.

This wasn't a long book. Still, the plot felt a little convoluted and the rhythm took a fall whenever the focus turned to the romance. This part of the plot wasn't bad. I actually liked the idea, more than for the serial killer story, I wanted this romance. And yet, I felt bored whenever the couple showed up. I feel the author would have fared best choosing a main genre. In fact, the ending bit was mostly about solving those crimes, and the book was finally at its prime. But, really, romance wasn't bad at all, it just didn't go with how eager I was to find more about the cases.

The narration was a little problematic as well. The book is in first person with three narrators: Erin, Dimitri and the culprit. The latter was just fine. It gave you the hints you needed to keep you glued. But I wasn't fond of the alternate POV's between the couple. Especially because they didn't feel needed. Sometimes, yes. But not through all of the book. The result was that they alternated so much I found it hard to keep up with who was the narrator now. Hilarious mental pictures ensued, of course, and many times I had to restart the whole chapter to get it right.

Now, the characters were nice. I can't remember a single complaint now, and that's a deed. I'm not into main characters, and I think these were all nice. Kudos to the author. I especially enjoyed how the adults were portrayed, with each of them having their own personality and not only being the father, the mother, the policeman. More kudos for building a good sense of family love and friendship. I will never stop being grateful to authors who remember to point out they still exist, despite all.

I have already mentioned I liked the suspense but, going into details... I guess the first thing you want to know is whether the conclusion is satisfying. It was. I wouldn't say this was a genius plan, and I can't say I was truly surprised. I didn't go OMG, either. However, this wasn't boring at all.

Also, I should mention that this seems to be the first book in a series or at least a duology. Thus, it wasn't all answered here. At the same time, I wouldn't have thought so if there hadn't been a warning by the end. In other words, the story can be read as a standalone, no need for you to get another book to know the answers. Nonetheless, I do intend to read the next one, for I was curious with how the author will stretch this.

I didn't rate this any higher because I've seen more entertaining stories. And really, the rhythm is all over the place, which is a pity. The potential is still here. If you can chew some teenage angsty romance with your thriller, go for it.

There's no plot and the killer was obvious from page one. I didn't understand what was going on with the dad because the narrator didn't explain anything that was happening except for her boyfriend. I couldn't relate to any of the characters because theyre all boring af and basically have no flaws except for the guy who used to have drinking problems. The characters weren't realistic at all and there were a bunch of useless side characters introduced who didn't have any personality traits at all so I got confused between all of them. Erin and Dimi are the two most boring people ever because they spend 90% of the time lusting over each other and whining about the consequences of their own actions instead of moving on. Dimi is the most unrealistic male character ever and only exists as a projection of 'the perfect love interest'. Lastly the plot is super linear and nothing really happens throughout the book other than the two main characters getting together and then the killer getting discovered. I liked the killers monologues and I think these could've been the focus instead of Erin's incessant complaining and the way she and Dimi keep drooling over each other and having cutesy childhood flashbacks. And the lack of events and other suspicious characters to throw off the reader made the whole thing super long and predictable. I think the killer should've Nadia or whatever her name was, because she didn't want people to thirst over her brother all the time or something. It would've been an actual plot twist that way.

Fear Me, Fear Me Not isn't going to make you smile and think only rainbows exist. There is a serial killer on the loose. They are afraid and they have a reason to be.

But life goes on...

Or does it? I giess that depends on if you are on the angel list. With increasing tension, increasing body counts, and still no one arrested, Gavert isn't exactly making my bucket list.

Erin is in more danger than she could ever imagine. Her heart and her life are in jeopardy.

I really enjoyed Fear Me, Fear Me Not. It's a great suspense, an appropriate twist, and enough shade to only guess at what is coming next.

This book was so gooood!!! I can’t believe this book is not hella popular. It’s kind of like A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder but in a better way. It’s very well written and I love the chapters telling the murderer’s pov. That’s one of my favorite things about this book (it is also something that happens in The Naturals). I lived this book and once it got to the climax I needed to finish it. I had my suspicions but they were completely wrong. Such a good UNDERATED book!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ooh, this book is chilling, in the best way! I think it might be my favorite Elodie Nowodazkij book, and I know Erin and Dimitri are my favorite Elodie Nowodazkij couple. They have a long history, and amazing chemistry, and I loved all of their swoony scenes. But Fear Me, Fear Me Not is not just a romance; it's a murder mystery, too, and it's bursting with suspense. Elodie manages to pull off three distinct points-of-view, including the killer's, while keeping the tension high and the thrills coming. I love the roles family and friendship take in this novel, rocketing the stakes up and up and up, and keeping me turning pages (or scrolling through the document -- whatever) late into the night. If you're ready for a book that'll have you searching for clues, while giving you a few good scares, featuring characters who are easy to cheer for, check out Fear Me, Fear Me Not at the end of September.

I received this book as an ARC from Elodie herself, so here is my review:

I freaking love this book. I can't say it's one of the best books I read so far, but it's definitely different and special: you have romance and you have thriller, all in one book. It kept me on needles as I was reading more, as I was turning from one page to the other.

And I have to admit, I'm putting this book in the category of books that I couldn't predict. I thought the killer was someone else, but then I got the surprise of my life when I got near the end of the book. I was so not expecting that, at all. I was like "What???!!!!", as more secrets were revealed, as more action was passing.

I do like when writers use a lot of details when they describe their characters or when they want you to know more about them, which is not the case right now, but I guess that didn't fit with the theme of the book. So, it definitely isn't a normal romance book.

Rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

I like that the ending surprised me. Also the third POV from the killer? That was brilliant. It's actually my first time to read a book with a killer's POV. And I have to say that made the book more sinister. Not to mention it's like watching another Criminal Minds episode. (Which I love.)
I liked Dmitri and Erin but I wasn't a big fan of the romance. I don't know why, it's just I feel like it took too much of the story. Maybe this is one of those "it's not the book it's me" instances? Also Nadia and Liam were great. Why Elodie? Why did you do what you did?

I don't know if I'll be writing a more in-depth review for the book but right now this is all I've got.

The good:
Fear me, Fear Me Not is a quick read.
Full of suspense, tension, mind games and fear.
It is also very unpredictable - I had at least six suspects during the story and none of them were correct.

The not-so-good:
The story got quite confusing at some points.
Although told in alternating POV's the voices were not distinctive and it was often difficult to distinguish between Erin and Dimitri's voices.
The characters were a little shallow and not fully developed so I felt it difficult to be emotionally invested in their lives.

dnf at 48% (how i made it that far surprises me)

unfortunately i have nothing good to say about this book and i was just in such a bad mood so my notes while reading this book are kinda mean.

don’t have the energy to write a coherent review so here are my notes:

- so many typos!!
- characters so one-dimensional
- conversations so unrealistic like that’s now how people talk
- romance overshadowing the actual plot and mystery
- soooooooo slowww
- no action whatsoever
- dimitri is literally so weird and annoying he’s supposedly in love with erin but has no shame checking out other girls and justifying it by saying he’s a guy
- he’s also so hormonal like u can’t tell me mans actually loves erin he just likes her kisses
- also if they’re just friends why are they literally doing couple-y things from the beginning like forehead kisses, intimate hugs, constantly touching each other
- also their conversations are so sappy
- dimitri - “im here for you 🥺”
- erin - “i know but im broken and im a cheerleader and a pageant girl i gotta fake smile through it 🥹”
- also dimitri - “i see right through ur smile unlike everyone else 🥹”
- her smile in question being able to fool everyone else
- basically just a romance book where they have drama between each other but they’re together since the beginning it’s a back and forth thing “just a friend” but also “love”
- no chemistry
- no tension
- constantly “flirting”
- literally kiss within the first 20 smth chapters
- where’s the mystery?
- also their hobbies are not hobbying
- i didn’t feel any of their passion for it
- for dimi’s football, sure i could see that
- but the drawing thing was just thrown outta nowhere 😭😭
- i think it might be bc of how plain and bland the characters really are
- so much tell and no show
- also first describes her moms hair as being honey blonde then later says dark hair
- also how do the police just NOT believe everything ppl tell them
- like the rachel call and then the other things they were telling the sheriff
- he doesn’t investigate anything all he does is question ppl so annoying
- and how come there’s literally no forensic evidence?? like there HAS to be SOMETHING
- i skipped to the end to see who did it and was not surprised AT ALL

Awesome thriller!
A serial killer strikes the town once a year. A girl disappears, and then her body is found approximately ten days later with an angel carved on her cheek. For Erin, the nightmare is even worse. These girls have been on her cheer team, her friends, and people she knows. And to make it worse....her father is the prime suspect. He was a teacher at the high school, well respected and loved by all, yet the police chief is certain he has his hands in the Angel Killings. This year, the pattern of the Angel Killer seems to be changing. Two girls are missing and now Erin's best friend and brother are also missing. Can the town look past all the hate and anger and finally figure out who is behind all the killings before anyone else dies?
Book was well written with a nice twist at the end. Page turner!

I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of Fear Me, Fear Me Not the first book in the Galvert City series; as soon as I finished it I instantly purchased the other books in this series.

Annually each September a girl goes missing and.several days following her disappearance, she's found dead with an angel carved on her face. Seventeen-year-old Erin Hortz knows the rules - never walk alone in the dark, don't talk to strangers and never accept drinks at parties. Erin has a really difficult time at school because her dad is the prime suspect in the case. Her mum is also quite absent as she struggles with depression and most of her time she just sits in her room crying or sleeping.

Supporting Erin is, 19 year-old Dimitri; a sweetheart who has had his football dreams put on hold due to an injury from a drunken accident. Dimitri is Erin's best friend, Nadia's older brother and has been smitten with Erin for a long time but has never acted on his feelings.

I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery surrounding this book, I had absolutely no idea who the serial killer was, it was a book I definitely couldn't predict; I despised Erin's father but I wasn't sure if he was the right person that they should be going after; I was gobsmacked by the ending and enjoyed how it all came together.

I enjoyed the characters interactions, especially between Erin and her little brother Caleb. The romance was also written very well and I enjoyed the way Dimitri and Erin genuinely cared for one another despite some big issues between them, mainly her father.

Fear Me, Fear Me Not is in first person with three narrators: Erin, Dimitri and the killer. It was done well and the suspense kept me thoroughly entertained. The ending definitely wasn't as I expected,

I highly recommend, Fear Me, Fear Me Not by Elodie Nowodazkij.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this book.

Nothing in Gavert City, Texas has been the same since girls started disappearing five years ago. Erin's life has been dogged by the suspicion that her father is the killer. She balances taking care of her brother with being a good student, a cheerleader, and a pageant queen. And then there's Dmitri, her best friend's brother.;

I liked the book. It was a decent read. However, I didn't find the voices distinctive enough to be separate. Also, there were parts it felt as though the author herself was confused as to whose point of view she was writing from. More than once, I had to go back and reread something several times because it was confusing. It pulled me out of the story.

I will also say that I figured things out pretty easily, and wasn't held in suspense. Pacing was okay, but the story did drag some.

The mystery kept me turning the pages, and I thought the characters and the big reveals were done really well. I loved how Nadia and Dimitri's family treated Erin and Caleb.

That being said, the pacing felt a bit off in places, and one of the deaths felt like it was put on for shock value, and there had already been enough of that. I also would’ve loved a bit more tension and darkness from the killers pov, and maybe some bigger fallout after everything came out at the end. I felt like there was room to dig even deeper.

The mystery and the characters totally pulled me in. The friendships and interactions with law enforcement felt authentic. But I felt like there were missed opportunities to give more insight into the backstory of Erin's life, her parents and to not wrap everything up so quickly.

Fear Me, Fear Me Not by Elodie Nowodazkij is the first book in the Gavert City, a young adult thriller series, and my first book by this author. Wow! Talk about dysfunctional family! I normally read sweet young adult romances, and this is not one of those. Yes there is a sweet romance between Erin Hortz, a 17 year old, and her best friend's brother, Dimitri, who is 19. On top of normal life there is a serial killer who kidnaps and kills a teenage girl every year, and Erin's dad is the main suspect. I don't want to give to much away, but if you are looking for an intense book, I highly recommend this book. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you.

I love good mysteries and Fear Me, Fear Me Not was suspenseful with twists I didn't see coming. This is the first book I've read by Elodie Nowodazkij and I was impressed. Usually with mysteries I can see who the killer is but Fear Me, Fear Me Not kept me guessing. The killer's perspective really added to the chilling story and ramped up the tension even further.

An emotional roller coaster tale told through the eyes of Dimitri, Erin and a killer. In a Texas town, a killer is on the loose. Every Homecoming, a girl is taken and killed. This has taken a toll on Erin’s family. Erin try’s to be strong for her brother and mom. Dimitri, former high school football star, is learning to cope with his accident and his feelings for Erin. They struggle with their feelings while a killer is closing in.

A suspense filled novel that leaves you wondering what will happen. I couldn’t put the story down.
