Forbidden romance, angels, and demons, supernatural warfare, Sandy's Story is a thrilling paranormal romance and the last book of the Ditch Lane Diaries.
Sandy is clairvoyant and works as an investigative reporter for Channel 3 News in Nashville. She is following a lead on a murder near music row that unleashes a chain of life changing events.
Sandy's guardian angel, Baldric the Warrior, helps her to solve the crime while fighting the growing attraction to her. Falling in love with his Ward breaks all the rules of heaven.
When someone steals Luc's Testament, all sorts of hell unleashes. Luc uses Baldric's ward to get his book back with the help of his demon angel, Caiojezeal, and his army.
The Campbell Ridge wards and their warrior angels must come together to save one of their own in an epic battle between good and evil.
But at what cost? Will love be enough to fight the lord of all darkness?
USA Today Bestselling Author, D. F. Jones began her career as a broadcast consultant at the ABC Affiliate in Nashville, which led her to open an advertising agency. Over the years, she's created many campaigns for clients but fell in love with writing fiction.
Writing is a source of creative expression for DF. Jones, but it also releases stress. Writing takes D.F. Jones to a place where anything is possible, and fiction takes her to a place made of dreams..
Whether it's angels or demons, time travel adventures, witches and wizards, mystery suspense, or ghosts, her books are action-packed with supernatural and romantic elements.
As a guy, I don't go out of my way to read romance. I reviewed this book for my newspaper because the author is local and a friend. Though this is not my genre, "Sandy's Story" is a gripping read. I would recommend it for people who do enjoy romance stories. The novel does a good job for its genre.
The elements include paranormal fantasy and a spiritual battle between "angels" and "demons." They are not plucked from the Bible, but do make for intense characters.
This story is not for minors because of an opening scene in which a young Sandy is sexually abused by an adult. Jones told me she included the traumatic scene in part because children in that era (1960s) “were seen and not heard,” and she wanted to address the topic of childhood sexual abuse.
About the book and the trilogy: D.F. Jones has released “Sandy’s Story,” her final book in the “Ditch Lane Diaries” trilogy. (Dawn is her given name, but she uses her initials as her pen name.) Each of the books in the series follows the adventures of a different friend in Middle Tennessee, with Rutherford County playing a large role. The other books are “Ruby’s Choice” and “Anna’s Way.”
Jones said the series is for ages 18 and up with what she describes as a “medium heat level” in the romance department.
Each book in the trilogy reveals more and more of a part of a spiritual battle in which the three friends become involved, with each of them receiving special spiritual powers. The title character of “Sandy’s Story” has a guardian angel, Baldric, who falls in love with her. The chief villain is the devil, or Luc.
“Sandy’s Story” has been her fans’ favorite so far in the series, Jones said.
Jones said Baldric is one of her favorite characters in the series. She said she would like to write a spin-off series from the “Ditch Lane Diaries,” perhaps in 2018 after she finishes some other book projects. The future series may focus on the current characters’ children.
Each book in the “Ditch Lane Diaries” features chapter titles that are named for pop songs from a particular decade; chapters in “Sandy’s Story” are taken from the 1980s.
This is the third book in the Ditch Lane Diaries. The first two books were good, but this one surpasses them. Don't get me wrong, I love all the books. However, this book is my favorite of them all. The series follows the story of three friends, each book focuses on one. This is Sandy's story, and my, what a story! It combines suspense, romance and supernatural elements, creating an unforgettable tale . The author wrapped up the series well and ties most of the loose ends. The book is well written, the characters were vivid, and the story was gripping and sucked you right in from the start. This is a story about powerful love, loss, family, trust, and good vs., evil. As the tale gets underway, it has you grasping for more. If you didn't read the series, I suggest you start from the first book as each book is tied to the next one. Highly recommended!
SANDY'S STORY is the third installment in the Ditch Lane Diaries series. The author, D.F. Jones, has a wonderful writing style that brings the characters to life. This story is well written with a great plot and characters. Love is strong and this fictional book about love and the spiritual warfare is loosely based on Biblical stories and rich in history, angels, demons, and imagination. You don't need to believe in The Creator, Angels or Evil to enjoy this excellent story, but you may believe after reading.
Lives are at risk, Luc is set on taking a Campbell Ridge hybrid captive, even the world as a whole is in the line in this story.
We've read some Sandy's story and in The Ditch Lane Diaries, but here are the details. Sandy's and Badric's love for each other is heating up. What will the Creator's punishment be if they break his rules and mate?
When Sandy gets her hands on Luc's Testament (diary/ledger), she may be putting herself and the other Campbell Ridge hybrids in a dangerous battle for their souls. Maybe even an all out war between the Light and the Dark.
Sandy's story kept me on the edge of my seat and had me reading late at night.

As mentioned in the title, this is primarily Sandy's story. It explains why Sandy's family moved to Tennessee when she was young and shows us how the group first met and became friends. It also lets us know more about how Sandy's power of Clairvoyance works.
Sandy's connection with her guardian angel has always been closer and more open than that of the rest of the Campbell Ridge group and their angels. And while this has often proved to be a good thing, it does present its own problems. Can Sandy & Baldric find a way to overcome these challenges and find their happy ending, or are they doomed before they ever had a chance?
Like the other two books, this one was very well-written and well-edited. What I've read so far has been a joy to read & definitely gives me plenty of reasons to continue reading this series.
The good evil battle heats up and Sandy is right in the middle of it. Angels, Demons, gifted humans and others are all involved in a book filled with spiritual warfare and yet love will find a way.
D.F. Jones Sandy's Story: The Soul Reader (Ditch Lane Diaries series Book 3) Sandy Sandy's Story was a fast read. The battle between the angels and the demons gets hot. Lots of action.

"I have a confession to make. Last night, as you gave me your heart, I didn't offer mine in return. You're right. It's against the rules for us. It's against the rules for humans, too."
D.F. Jones is absolutely brilliant! I have said it before and I will say it again! The Ditch Lane Diaries series is really something special! Sandy's Story is the third book in the series and just might be the best one yet!
Jones really has a way with words. Her story is deeply etched into my mind and as I read, I could not stop. This is definitely a series that I need more of. In Sandy's story, we get a lot more information about Sandy and her past. We are finally able to get the inside scoop on her relationship with her guardian, Baldric! Oh, how could I forget! We also get to see how the three girls (Anna, Ruby, and Sandy) first meet! I really, really enjoyed that part of the book. It was nice to get that little piece of background information!
Book three really focuses on the Cambell Ridge Wards and Lucifer, as well as Sandy and her love interest! Can Sandy really be in love with her guardian? Is that legal?
The problem really starts when Luc's book gets into the wrong hands, which puts Sandy in danger. This is a very valuable book and somehow Sandy knows where it is. The war betwen the angels and the demons officially begins when Sandy is taken! Can Baldric help Sandy? Where was Baldric when Sandy was taken? Can anyone find her before Luc gets what he wants? What does Luc even want to begin with? You will have to read this book to find out! There is a lot of juicy drama in this third book and you definitely do not want to miss any of it!
"I paired them, Lord. Their love is not ordinary; it is extraordinary."
This book was my favorite so far! But the second book is a close second. I really, really, really loved the second book! I absolutely adore Sandy and Baldric's relationship! Those two have a very special sense of humor and I really enjoyed reading about them. I also fell for a new character in this book, Caiojezeal. We meet Caiojezeal when Sandy gets taken. He is not who he acts to be though and he really surprised me. Talking about him brings up the fact that Jones's characters are so detailed and lifelike. Jones does an amazing job at making her characters and story come to life around her readers. Each character has a story and a background, which allows them to become real in the eyes of the reader. There is nothing better than being able to put yourself into the book with all your favorite characters.
The Ditch Lane Diaries is a super unique series about love and friendship with a little bit of angel and demon drama sprinkled on top. I have never read anything like this series and it will forever be one of my favorites! Each of these books are filled with excitement, drama, lies, jealousy, love, and just about everything you can think of! There was never a dull moment when reading this series. I completely devoured each book and I am almost positive that you all will too! Add this series to your TBR list!
I knew without a shadow of a doubt, that Sandy's story would be my favorite in the series! I loved how much the author's writing grew with each book. Sandy was an amazing, funny, sassy, demon ass kicking heroine. Baldric was just everything! There was constantly something happening so I didn't get bored for a second! The storyline was creative and unique. I did cry at the end, though I won't say why, the author gave me more than I hoped for and made it okay. Seriously awesome series and one of a kind!
Oh how I loved Sandy's Story. It was a fast read and hard to put down. I felt like it kept me on the edge of my seat with suspense and the mystery surrounding Sandy's life and her Guardian Angel Baldric. I felt like this story was so well told you could see the characters almost before your eyes as the story played out. Especially the training for the battle in the book. The battle between the angels and demons was described in detail so well I felt I was there watching it unfold. I love how the character's from the other two books were involved in this final book of this series and how strong the friendships of the three girls as well as the family carried over with each book and til the end of this one. I think the author shows how she has grown as a writer with each book. I was sad to see this series end and looking forward to reading future books by DF Jones I hope she has another series spin off from the Ditch Lane Diaries and pulls the characters from this series into it.
I needed sometime to get my emotions and thoughts together before I was able to write this review. I loved this story but it did stir up my thoughts and emotions, fear, anger, hope, joy, love and above all the peace that comes with the knowledge, in the end good will win. I was sorry to lose a friend in the battle between good and evil but in all wars there will be loss. The pain of loss was eased with the knowledge that we will meet those we love and have lost in the next dimension. This story can be read and enjoyed even if you have no religious leanings. The characters are so very well developed that you feel you are apart of their circle of friends and know each of them very well. You will get angry with them, celebrate with them and support them in their choices, good and bad. Thank you DF Jones for making me feel apart of your family of characters.
D.F. Jones does it again. Definitely a book you'll want to sink your teeth into. So well written, great plot, and entertaining characters that you can't help to fall in love with. A definite page-turner. This Series had me at book one and I couldn't put it down. Each story brings you closer to each character but this one was by far my absolute favorite. This book tells Sandy's story. I love her. And Baldric, what's not to love about him. This book is too good to give away too much so ill just say that if I was an angel, this book would have me sprinkling love dust all over the place. High five DF Jones. Remarkable Read!
D.F. Jones does it again. I loved this story and boy did it make me think. I love how you get to know Sandy more in this book. This book for me was more suspenseful and the mystery about Sandy's Guardian Angel questions I had were satisfied. I highly recommend this read.
This is the last installment of the Ditch Lane Diaries and I thought it was the perfect finish to the three stories that I just loved. The battle scenes were very well done and you really feel part of the action. Each of these books make me love the stories more and more. I get so involved with DF Jones' writing that I'm either laughing out loud, or my heart is in my throat! This was an exciting finish to the series and it was wonderfully done. This story especially kept me up late reading, and I am sorry to see it end, but what an epic ending. What a terrific series.
The final book in the Ditch Lane Diaries series is full of action. Sandy's investigative reporting seems to flip the switch from aggressive tactics to all out war. The Wards of Campbell Ridge are going to have to come together and train hard if they are going to survive - and not all of their allies will make it to the end.
In the middle of all this chaos, Sandy and her guardian, Baldric, fall in love. Now, this is a big no-no with heaven, and they will need to fight not only their enemies, but to be allowed to stay together. Heaven and Earth are about to be moved, but I'm not going to tell you how all the pieces fall. This series has been an exciting ride. And while it won't be a favorite read, it was definitely one that I enjoyed.
