Sui Ishida (石田スイ, Ishida Sui), born December 28, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, is a Japanese manga artist
In 2010 he won the Young Jump 113th Grand Prix award with Tokyo Ghoul (東京喰種, Tōkyō Kushu). In March 2011, the same oneshot was published in the 2nd Issue of Miracle Jump. And later in September 2011, Tokyo Ghoul started as a series in Weekly Young Jump 2011-41 Issue. In December 2011, he made another oneshot about Rize that was published in December 2011 in Miracle Jump 6th Issue, which was later collected in the 6th volume of Tokyo Ghoul.
In 2013, he also started Tokyo Ghoul: Jack in the digital magazine Jump LIVE.

Sui Ishida is his penname; nobody knows his real name or what he looks like.

I'm living

Solo diré que estoy profundamente emocionado porque apareció un personaje del pasado que me gustaba demasiado. Y no me importa si de momento me parece un poco innecesario pero sin duda estoy supremamente contento.

El resto de historia sigue igual de bueno. Muchas subtramas por todos lados, la del doctor, la del clan whasuu, los payasos, el árbol aogiri, la de Urie y compañía, etcétera, etcétera.

(1) For some reason, Naki/Miza grows on me as a pairing!!!

(2) but why is Kaneki's hair all black again!?

(3) I think the manga series did the characters' backstories and explain their motives much clearer than the anime series, but the anime does have better and clearer fight scenes!

(4) a certain someone shows up again, great!

(5) Plus the author drew 100 characters from the series into cute cute chibis here!!!

(6) The extra 4-panels commedies are so good!

Tokyo Ghoul Re comes up on its 9th volume and shit remains tense and brutal.

This basically deals with 3 different fights going on all at once. What this volume really felt like was "The side characters you almost forgot about, here they be" and showed all their fights. Saying that, most are pretty entertaining. Watching a old favorite return was pretty awesome and seeing the mad scientist and his creations in action after being a mystery or staying behind the curtains so long was cool as hell.

I think some of the fight scenes are still hard to follow and a couple of times I had to look up characters to remember how they're important. The thing with RE is it tries to introduce a SHIT ton of characters, plus old ones, so you forgot who is who at times.

Saying that I enjoyed this volume but it wasn't as good as the last few. Hoping this series pushes a bit more by the end. A 3 out of 5.

Will he and the members of his squad become heroes or monsters, taken out by the other squads in the Commission of Counter Ghoul...?!

Okay I'm going to come out and say it... Sui Ishida knows how to battle! The art is all over the place, gorgeous, don't let me forget to say so beautiful... but also confusing and yet you keep reading! It's like you're watching a WWE fight on fast forward and still trying to figure out what just happened. The covers drew me into the series... all the characters has kept me there, because relationships are always changing, characters appearances even change and its a crazy, crazy world out there!

Haise isn't really a part of Tokyo Ghoul re vol 9 too much... instead we focus on old favorites that I even know from reading the first handful of Tokyo Ghoul. Boy was I so pumped to recognize a name that I know... even if he looks totally different! Judo was so badass... I don't think anyone doubted him but it sure was a tense cliffhanger. There are a slew of characters I don't know... seems there has been a lot of experimentation on humans that die by ghoul hands. We totally find out why at the end of this volume and my mind exploded!

I admit that I was really jonzing after Haise and trying to understand what all this has to do with him. I'm understanding that Arima was playing a long game and jerking around Ken Kanaki but that he himself wasn't treated that fairly either so it all evened out. I totally know I missed the implications of some of the events and battles... what I DID understand though was kick you in the face good! I'm not sure where this one-eyed king thing is going but we can see that the story is shifting and there is a new kingdom rising around this figure.

If there's anything I have to say about this series its that Sui Ishida is not afraid of jerking you around... There is genuine evil in the world friends but even the good guys are evil!! I love that we see characters go, change and return to battle again. The amount of experimentation with totally dead bodies is absolutely incredible! I kid you not... ghouls are a totally new vampire, but with a whole lot more character.

Tokyo Ghoul re vol 9 was just like the screaming face on the cover... explosive, mind blowing and epic. Sure you don't know what just happened but you eventually get there... the art takes you on a ride and the uncertainty has you racing through the pages to figure out of what you think just happened truly did... And then you can't wait to get your hands on the next volume!

Not bad but not that exciting either. The knight of justice is finally BACK and cooler than ever!
The most important thing is: all of my faves are FINALLY fighting on the same side (except for one little weirdo 😩), so I’m satisfied. 😌

Brah, I feel like this fight has been going on forever. I am ready for Kaneki ti be back and follow him. Its just side story after side story so far in my opinion. I love the series, but goddamn.

(1) So the grand CCG v.s. Aogiri Tree Ghouls battle continues!

(2) The battle scenes work quite smoothly, and the internal conflicts of different characters are quite well expressed!

(3) We have a little more Naki x Miza, unexpectedly this pairing is growing on me.

(4) Dr. Kano and the twisted relationship with his 'daughters' that's just so twisted!

(5) The ending part continues to be excellent!

(6) I don't feel Akira Mado saving is very convincing, that's something I can live with, but I just don't like it.

(7) The Christmas bonus manga is so funny!

SERIE TOKYO GHOUL RE vol. 9

Dopo il solito smarrimento iniziale, un pò per colpa mia, lascio passare troppo tempo tra un volume e l'altro e mi dimentico le cose, e un pò perchè c'è un errore ad inzio libro in cui elencano i personaggi. Hanno invertito Mado e Suzuya e mi hanno mandato in palla poi nella lettura per una cosa che succede quasi all'inizio.
Per il resto l'ho divorato. L'ho finito in pausa pranzo, giuro.
Ci sono due\tre colpi di scena che mi hanno lasciato con gli occhi sgranati.
Stavolta mi leggo subito il prossimo anche perchè sono curiosa.

the way in which not a single character is distinguishable from the others (in terms of personality, but sometimes also appearance because god damn a lot of characters have their white hair styled in the exact same way) makes this infuriating to read

It's getting really hard to keep the multitude of characters straight, especially when they go all Akira. I'm pretty sure I have no idea what's going on any more.

This world is twisted.. what is right.. what is wrong... You can't easily tell the difference. That's why you must keep thinking. Whether what you're doing is right or not.

Am I every going to be calm and chill about Tokyo Ghoul series? Hopefully no.
This volume was stunning - brilliant plot, compositions and artwork. So much has happened!
I was going to read a few chapters a day but I couldn't put the volume down so I binged it.

Gruesome and exciting fighting scenes, morally ambiguous characters and fascinating dynamics. Great volume!

Oof! Sadly this volume was nowhere near as good as the previous volume. What really frustrates me about the :re series is how some volumes are composed entirely of messy battle scenes where you often haven’t a clue what’s going on and who’s fighting who. To add to this the fact that old and new characters often appear in this scenes with some characters looking similar...it’s a wonder I know what’s going on!! All I can be certain of is this conclusion but as for the rest of it...I wouldn’t hold my breath. And where is Kaneki in all of this??!

so many things happened. naturally. however, we have also been following the same old fight for three volumes now so idk what to feel about that.

someone finally made an appearance. it was a little reunion moment, I absolutely loved it. It's funny how quickly I change sides when one of my favorite ghoul shows up, it's not even funny. That being said I kind of lowkey (highkey) miss the old Doves. The OG CCG people. It's making me want to read Tokyo Ghoul again.

it is interesting where Ishida is taking the story, but let's see.

So many people are alive?? Like idk what to believe anymore. It's like oh you were sad this character died? Well guess what! They're alive now bitch.

The clowns are so confusing like what is their goal? They have the most random ass members and they do whatever they feel like doing. I want more from Uta and Itori.

This crazy rollercoaster of an arc is finally over. It was wild and fun but damn so much happened.

Was so awesome to see Amon again, he’s probably one of my most favourite characters in the series so I was hyped when he came back. Also this volume cover is my favourite because of him.

The moment between Takizawa and Mado really hit hard. Takizawa may be a murderous ghoul now but you can’t help but feel terrible for what happened to him.

I’ll be honest, I love this series but I’d be lying if I said some of the action scenes are confusing as hell to understand lol. Also, there’s so many characters in this series that I find myself googling names every volume to refresh myself as to who someone is.

- takizawa's arc is heartbreaking
- kano is one demented character, and he gets creepier the more you know about him
- the ccg aren't the angels they posed as
- a character "dying" really means nothing here
- a lot of battles that confused me at times.
- i thought urie was the messed up one in the QS squad, but mitsuki is on another level
- mado will go through what amon went through, trying to set boundaries between ghouls and humans

A lot of cool fights but with characters from forever ago who I was expected to remember. There are too many character in this series. I feel like it would be better on a reread!

This is a review of the entire series.

Tokyo Ghoul begins with a streak of incredibly bad luck disguised as good luck. Reports of strange murders involving cannibalism and monster attacks have been haunting the city of Tokyo. What started as rumors quickly becomes reality as more and more victims show up dead. The creatures behind the attacks are believed to be ghouls. They don’t quite fit the normal definition of ghouls, they’re not hideous, rotting, undead monstrosities. They look like humans, they talk like humans, they act and even pretend to eat like normal humans, there’s no way of telling a ghoul from a human until you end up as their next meal. Ken Kaneki and his childhood friend Hide continue to laugh the incidents off as superstitious rumors and continue about their daily life as they normally would.

Things start to seem too good to be true when the shy and socially awkward bookworm Kaneki scores a date with the girl of his dreams, a beautiful, mature and intelligent young woman named Rize. Not only is Rize completely out of Kaneki’s league, but she also happens to share his infatuation with complex horror literature and philosophy. Things seem to be going unusually well for Kaneki, but it turns out that his lovely date is only interested in his body—eating his body, to be more specific. (And not in the hot kinky way either.)

Rize is not only an extremely dangerous ghoul, but she’s what’s known as a binge eater; ghouls that kill and consume without remorse or concern of the population or the safety of other ghouls. She’s the one responsible for most of the brutal killings and cannibalism incidents in the area and poor Kaneki just so happens to be her latest target. Just like that, a dream date quickly descends into a bloody nightmare as Kaneki is nearly tortured to death by Rize in an empty construction site where no one can hear his cries of pain.

Kaneki seems to get lucky when Rize slams him around the construction site and ends up knocking a large hunk of metal down on herself from all the destruction she caused, and ends up killing herself by accident just before she can deliver the final blow to Kaneki. The commotion causes a disturbance in the neighborhood and police are called to investigate the scene. The nearly dead Kaneki is rushed to the hospital along with the corpse of the bloodthirsty ghoul Rize so her organs can be transplanted into Kaneki.

All’s well that ends well, right? Wrong. The streak of bad luck continues. The morally questionable rescue of Kaneki ends up transforming him into the first half-human half-ghoul hybrid because of the ghoul organs implanted in his body. Losing his taste for his favorite foods, developing violent urges and twisted desires to consume the flesh of his fellow humans, Kaneki is forcefully pulled into the demented underworld of ghoul society which has existed alongside human society for many years in secret.

Kaneki has no choice but to adapt to the ways of the ghouls if he wants to survive, all while keeping his identity a secret and trying to live a normal human life. Thus begins a tragic horror story where a psychologically tortured boy is constantly exposed to the worst aspects of human nature and the savagery of ghoul society. Is Kaneki the first ever outcast that doesn’t belong to human or ghoul society, or is he the first and only person that has the potential to bring the two clashing societies together? Kaneki begins to realize that there’s more to the incident with Rize and the surgery that changed him forever, and he slowly unravels the secrets of the nastiest ghouls and the most corrupt humans working in mysterious ways behind the scenes. After a while, you’ll begin to question who the real monsters are.

Caught between two dangerous worlds, Kaneki grows through immeasurable suffering, bridging the gap between humans and ghouls by learning to love and fear them in equal measure. Tokyo Ghoul builds an emotional story about morality, discrimination and self-discovery. It utilizes the literary themes of Kafka such as metamorphosis and the exploration of absolute gray morality.

Kaneki’s development is literally an emotional roller coaster. He goes through so many changes in beliefs, morals, personality and identity that he struggles to keep track of who he really is as all of the different sides of himself constantly try to conquer and slaughter each other in his severely fractured brain. He can’t decide if he wants to fight against humans for the sake of the ghouls, to fight against ghouls for the sake of humans, or try to come up with some crazy master plan to fight against both of them or neither of them in order to find a way to stop the conflict between all sides once and for all. All these confusing thoughts and morals create a storm inside him and the greatest conflict of all is perhaps the conflict of Kaneki’s own conflicted sense of identity.

Overall, the story has a strong start that immediately throws you into a dark and twisted drama, a tedious middle section that's held back by pacing issues, poorly explained terminology and too many unimportant side characters that don’t get nearly enough development or screen time, but it gets back on its feet with a really strong final few arcs that leave you with many questions and potential answers regarding human morality. It has an impressively large cast connected by limitless plot twists and clever intricacies, deep protagonists with many layers, flashy fight scenes with unique weapons and bodily horror mechanics called Kagune, and it pulls on the heartstrings as you slowly begin to realize that humans and ghouls have a lot more in common than either one would care to admit.

Urie pasó de parecerme un pelotudo a tocarme profundamente la patata. Es un vaivén de sentimientos con ese pibe, al principio lo amaba, después lo odie, ahora es como que estoy ligeramente orgullosa. Me alegra verlo madurar.

This was just a big huge mess for me. All the fight scenes were confusing; I could barely tell who was fighting who, which hits were hitting who. It just made no sense to me and sometimes even the words feel jumbled at some parts.

I truly stand with the Suzuya squad when they started laughing in Kuro’s face when she thought she had managed to kill Juzo 🤭 I truly was sitting there laughing to myself and kicking my feet at her ignorance. AS IF such a basic bitch could ever hurt my beloved Juzo. MAYBE in her dreams, but not in this life 💁🏻‍♀️✨

Truly, the biggest gift this volume gave me was the true return of my husband Amon 🙏🏻 Thank you Sui Ishida for returning my man from the abyss. I missed him so much! He belongs at his wife’s (me) side! Thank you for returning him AND as a ghoul too! 💖🤩💖 Be still my heart! Even asshole Dr. Kano was like, “This freak is too powerful as a ghoul. We can’t deal with his ass. Bye 👋🏻 “ THAT’S MY MAN! They can never touch your glory! *whispers like a gremlin* I love you

Anyway. I don’t have much else to say about this volumes. The fights weren’t overly engaging because I was too certain they wouldn’t be able to truly hurt my men. Plus, it just got on my nerves how Urie and Mutsuki wanted to be so black and white about Amon and Takizawa. Bruh, Y’ALL ARE GHOULS TOO. You’re just ghouls with self-hatred who are in denial about what you are 🙄 just a ghoul with more steps. Be so fucking for real!
