It's been a year since Robert Tracy (Agent Bering), saved from the executioner's needle, foiled the Cabal's plan to assassinate the President and take control of the country. Seizing the opportunity for a new life, he is happy and in love. But a rift in the very fabric of space-time, and an undefeated Cabal, conspire to strip away everything he cares about. Suddenly, no one and nothing is as it should be. Desperately trying to stop a saboteur intent on destroying the Athena Project, events spiral out of control and he is lost in the past. Stranded, with no way to return to the life he has built. Unable to trust anyone, and with assassins in hot pursuit, his only option is to seek the help of a child who can deliver a message 36 years into the future.
Dirk Patton is the best selling author of the V Plague series. You can email him at dirk@dirkpatton.com or find him on the internet at www.DirkPatton.com or Twitter @DirkPatton or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/RealDirkPatton
These two books, 36 and The Void, are kind of an explanatory addendum to the V Plague series by the same author, In those books, it is revealed that a very real time machine exists that can take someone back in time 36 hours, ostensibly to change time by redacting an incident where many people were killed, as in a terrorist attack. The time traveler will then find the terrorists and eliminate them to stop the attack from ever happening. As it relates to the V Plague series, it is introduced as some kind of a secret government project and later the time traveler, goes back in time to save John and Rachel, the unsung heroes of that series. The Void has an ending similar to Stephen King's The Dark Tower series, which I thought was an interesting way to end this particular series, and that's all I will say about that. It was a good series, full of page-turning action and suspense as well as an interesting take on time travel.
I really hope there is more it just can't end like that I'm too invested I need more if you have a heart Dirk Patton you will not do that to your loving reader's please need to know when the next book Will be out I was hoping for it to go through the v plague time line as a separate set of characters like a spin off sorta but better!!!!!
Some parts of the explanation of time travel was confusing and since I am none too familiar of the subject it made very little sense to me. The story was a little long in the tooth at times. However, I did like the ending. It was a complete surprise and I think that made reading the book worth it.
Yet again. Could not put it down. Page turner and a half. More from this series please. So many possibilities- dimensions and worlds await. I love the ties between the post apocalyptic series and the time travel one. Quickly has become one of my favorite authors. Great ending to this one as well, leaves open so many paths.
Agent Bering is sent back in time yet again to save the world or is he?
In The new time line Agent Bering thinks things are the same but then he fi ds another of himself & they touch! His whole world explodes. He wakes up in the woods cold dark & wet. Next thing he knows someone saves him but then someone else is trying to kill him!!
Wow, Dirk Patton is really a fantastic storyteller. I really didn't think I would like this line of books, and it still plays second fiddle to his V plague series, but he sure knows how to keep you engrossed!
Well written, full of twists and turns. About the time that you think you know where Dirk is going with this story, he sucked punches you, and runs down a path you weren't expecting. Highly recommend this author of you want to loose yourself in a good story.
I am a huge fan. Read everything he writes and be prepared to laugh, cry and scratch your head in wonder at what will happen next. Roller coasters have nothing on a Patton novel.
If you aren't confused when this starts you probably be when you finish. There are enough battles to keep adrenalin junkies engaged throughout. It just goes to show you can't fool Mother Nature and you shouldn't mess with Father Time either!
I enjoyed this second book very much. The element of time travel was very intriguing. The Author had a very good way of explaining things and was able to keep me reading to see what would happen next. I would recommend this book to my friends..
Are you going to go continue with book 16 of i could wtite, I would come Time and irons would be the leader of the people left. Anna would somebody be envoled with the the crowd from auz land
Was a good book. Kind of confusing at times to try to keep up with alternate time-lines. Side way time Ines. But once past this it is an interesting book.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was full of twists and turns and I never saw the ending coming. Mr. Patton is now one of my favorite authors. I highly recommend his books!
I enjoy the he'll out of your writing but I am just not a big time travel reader. Maybe because I get mixed up with parallel timelines but this is still a great story and I want to read more of your work.
Mr Patton never disappoints! Loved 36 and The Void ! Each new character is just as interesting as the last. Very memorable to say the least! What an adventure!!!
Outstanding series two books in but if there is not a follow up, I am going to be one unhappy camper! Left hanging with only two million questions!??????
So just when I think I have everything figured, out Mr. Patton swoops in, swirls, and turns my brain into mush trying to figure all this out. I so can't wait to see how Mr. Bob Tracy/ Agent Berring does with Major John Chase in the mix!!
The two 36 novels were very entertaining reads, a little difficult to absorb all of the space/time shifts and the pseudo explanations, but not really all that relevant to the story anyway. I read these books to get a better background for the Athena Project mentioned in the V Plague series because I am reasonably sure it will play a major part in those books.
Amazing story and sequel to Mr. Patton's novel, '36'.
The jumps continue through time, but Bob is noticing discrepancies between actually events and moments that he's sent to redact. An explanation that makes so much more sense when reading the first book, '36'.
This can be a fascinating stand-alone novel, but many important points are portrayed that directly correlate with the earlier book. Nevertheless, it is a riveting and fast-paced paced storyline with non-stop action and mind bending possibilities!
Exceptionally well-written and intriguing in its execution. Very well done!
