Primal Power An empath with the ability to sense others' emotions, Drake Wheeler has survived by keeping his own feelings shut off from the world. But nothing has prepared him for the sudden smoldering need that overtakes him in the presence of pureblood shape shifter Melissa Montrose. Even more surprising-he can't sense anything around the sultry bookstore owner . . . except for his fierce urge to take her here, now, over and over again . . . Primal Heat Melissa has lived her life in a small town, hiding her family's mysterious birthright. A fling with the sexy tourist who wanders into her bookstore seems like a delicious, temporary diversion, until Drake touches her in exactly the way she craves, teasing and tempting every inch of her body into explosive ecstasy. Drake's obviously a man with secrets, but Melissa's got a few of her own, and she's going to show him just how wild and raw pure, primitive desire can be . . . I keep forgetting how much I like this book and I never remember the first few pages which means I forget to re read because I don't recognise the start. I have to find somewhere to store it so I know. Hmmm my keeper shelf will do enjoy
This was unbelievably sexy and awesome! I loved Drake and Melissa, I loved them separately, and together. They were confused and confident, stubborn and open, willing and unafraid. Something, someone, is after the good guys, and what starts as a simple mission to get away and relax turns into so much more. Drake never expected to have his own feelings. Melissa never expected anything beyond some fun with a stranger come to town. Tragedy and events keep them together, as they try to figure out what is happening between them, and solve the mystery. Did I mention this book was hot? Yeah, it’s that too, and the attraction between Drake and Melissa burns off the pages.
I love Drake and Melissa, action, adventure, romance, and HOT SEX!!! The Hunter Protection Group has some interesting characters. This story had so much emotion. Sasha White is such an amazing storyteller and even re-reading can keep me turning the pages!!!
this was a pretty fast easy read. the story revolved around Drake, an empath who works for a private group who monitors, and takes down rogue preternaturals when necessary, and melissa a shifter who is being hunted by someone unknown. drake figured out that melissa is the shifter he was in the town to find pretty quickly. he also finds out that he cant read her emotions and can actually feel his own when he is with her. when someone kills melissa's best friend in her apartment Drake and Melissa decide to head out of town and hopefully draw the killer with them.
there were quite a few good steamy scenes in this one i do have to admit that i was a little disappointed in the fact that his empathy didn't work on her. while i understand that is what makes them work together as a couple i am still stuck on the idea that sex with an empath would be the best ever.
I have enjoyed this book. I think it is a fun and sexy paranormal read. I was not sure what Sasha White’s writing was, This the first of her books that I have read. I think how she put it together was great. You get a little sexy and little mystery and personal a lot of fun. I simple love empathy, There fun and you really don’t know what your getting. I also would say every shape shifter I have read about has been different and in this story the shape shifter was different and quit fun. I think if you are looking for something different and fun to read this is the book for you!!
An easy, yet interesting read. Good plot and pacing. Good supporting cast of characters. There was a sufficiency of sex scenes in the book, but I will quibble that despite language, they tended towards the vanilla. The resolution of the conflict felt a little too neat and quick for me. YMMV.
Great if you like PRN books and don't mind that they never once mention condoms or any possible reason not to need them. I prefer the bareback in a story myself, but with some mitigating factor like the pill or something. Eh. Maybe it's just me.
Anyway, I'll be reading more by this author and do recommend this book.
Pretty predictable shapeshifter (her) and empath (him) story.
This book never made it above pleasant. But that's OK, it could of been much worse. It was just interesting enough that I finished reading it, whilst not really being invested in any of the characters.
Certainly won't be beating down the bookshop's door to read another Sasha White book but if I see one at the library I won't run screaming in the other direction.
This book comes after "Sexy Devil" but it's not really listed as a series. However, the characters and background information would be helpful, so I suggest you read them in order. That being said, I would actually give this 3.5. I didn't love it but didn't hate it...it was just there. I thought Sexy Devil was better...I didn't love this heroine as much. Drake was sexy, but she just left me lukewarmish.
meh...i just couldn't get into this one. I don't know if I just wasn't in the mood or if it was like so many other stories that I felt I had read it already. I finished it but it was a struggle.
Melissa is a shapeshifter (I did like that part) and she meets up with a human empath Drake. They meet for a 1 night fling that turns into more but they both have secrets blah blah blah. And throw in a hunter who is trying to kill her...you get the storyline. Maybe someone else will like it.
I finished this book this afternoon and gave it 3 stars. It was an interesting story, a little bit mystery, a little bit love story. It was a little more sexually explicit than what I normally read, and some of the subject matter (shape shifters) was a little too sci-fi for me, but the story kept me reading and I liked that it had a happy ending.
this was a fast and easy read. i recomend for summer reading. a very sexy book.i do judge a book by its cover art.(sheepish grin) and so at first i thought this was going to be a super cheesie romance novel, but that it was not. it was a fast paced light read. i was very intertained. also very sexy. :)
Primal Male is part of Sasha White's Hunter Protection group of books, all of which I enjoyed. I read them all but not in order, and that was fine. I enjoyed all the books in this world, but like her other ones a bit better. Still definitely worth the read.Sasha writes erotic stories with romance, action and good strong characters. All her books are very enjoyable reads.
One of the things I've really enjoyed about this series is that each of the characters have had a different gift. In Sexy Devil Sam was human and Gina was psychic in the first book while Angelo was a telepath and Jewel was a Gypsy. In this book, Drake was an empath and Melissa was a pure-blood shape-shifter. Something I've also really enjoyed in this series, which continued in this book, is how involved the characters from the past books are involved. Despite this being Drake and Melissa's story, we still get to read parts from Gina's perspective as she has some of her visions. It's really nice that the previous characters weren't just one book and done. Unfortunately, I think it will all be a different story in the supposed third book in the series, Most Wanted. Regardless, I am very much looking forward to reading it.
