100 Promises to My Baby

Rate this book
"The world was never changed or transformed by politicians, or for that matter, by scientists. The mothers of the world hold the keys. . . ."--from the Foreword

As she eagerly awaited the birth of her first child, Mallika Chopra began to craft a unique gift that would express her profound loving commitment to the baby growing inside of her.

100 Promises to My Baby is that gift--one that reflects her deep awareness of the sacred responsibilities of parenthood. Here the author shares the vows she made to help her child--and all children--grow up feeling cherished and secure, look at the world with wonder and curiosity, and learn spiritual values that enrich life and contribute to making the world a better place. Accompanying the 100 promises are short essays, reflections, poems, and stories that have inspired the author throughout her life--and that will inspire readers to think about their own lives, values, and beliefs, and what they would like to pass on to their children.

I enjoyed the sweet short stories of both the author's upbringing as well as the featured children's tales from all over the world. This book certainly incorporates the authenticity of a mothers deepest feelings for her children.

Finally finished. Not because it was hard to read but because I was cherishing each passage and could not get enough. I was happy to see she has a follow up book because I enjoyed this one so much. I love this book and want to copy passages to pass on to my son. Must read for new moms. She captures so well the hopes, dreams and wishes you have for your child and beautifully illustrates them through poignant personal stories and historic fables. She reminds us of some of the key values we want to pass on to our children.

Loved the book to the bits. Being a new mom I could associate very well to the emotions of the author about motherhood. It was both insightful and entertaining read. Most of the anxiousness and questions that runs in a new moms head are aptly answered in the book. Loved being part of the Chopra family by connecting to the incidents mentioned in the book. Must read for new moms.

When I first started listening to this audiobook I only enjoyed listening to a little bit of this audio book at a time. Once I got used to the readers voice I really enjoyed the stories she told. I was especially interested in learning about the hindu influence in her life.

She should have stopped at 80 promises. Book was perished living upto its name (literally). Post 80, it just goes tangent. I am sure even author doesn't know what she is writing, post that, such is a mismatch.

Not a fan. She could have bundled a bunch of her "promises" together to make it about 25 promises to her baby. I wasn't much interested in some of the folk tales she shared and found it hard to relate to her background and culture. Just not for me.

This was a nice book. I would have liked to have read it while I was pregnant, but it is still meaningful now.
