This groundbreaking book explains how to tap into our body's enegy to change our health, behavior, and hought patterns. We are comprised of energy pathways and energy centers in motion, a dynamic interplay with other energies, our cells, organs, immune system, mood, and thoughts. If we shift these energies, we influence our physical health, emotional patterns, and state of mind.
The Promise Of Energy Psychology gives simple instructions that will help you overcome fear, guilt, jealousy, anger - change unwanted habits and behaviors - enhance your ability to love, succeed, and bring about significant change to enjoy life. Even physical problems may respond where other treatments have failed. It puts the ability to effect change directly into your hands, over pain and destructive behavior.
Donna Eden, a pioneer in holistic healing, is among the world’s most sought, joyous, authoritative spokespersons for energy medicine. Her abilities as a healer are legendary and her invigorating presentations are rich with audience participation and stunning demonstrations.
Since childhood, Donna has been able to see the flow of energy and developed a system for teaching others to work with energy. Donna has taught 50,000 people worldwide how to methodically direct energy for health and happiness, using methods akin to acupressure and therapeutic touch.
Donna is author (with her husband, David Feinstein) of the best-selling book, "Energy Medicine", which has been translated into 12 languages and is a classic in its field. According to Carolyn Myss, “The contribution Donna Eden has made with "Energy Medicine" will stand as one of the backbone studies, as we lay a sound foundation for the field of holistic medicine”.
A western approach to TCM and and Vedanta (Qi and Prana respectively) concepts of internal, subtle energy, and its manipulation in order to bring about health and performance.
Such concepts propose illness or dis-ease to be disruiptions of the bodies own natural energy system.
This method targets specific acupuncture points as a form of accupressure.
The user is shown patterns for activation of these points through a type of mindfulness where specific problems are held and adressed in the mind, acting as both a form of mental desensitisation and pinpoint targeting of disruptions in the energy system.
Many problems are covered such as anxiety, depression, phobias, addictions, relationship problems, physical health problems.
Towards the end of the book, bodywork (stances and whole-body movements) are offered as combinations based upon yoga and western neurology. These are aimed at very deep energy work in order to break long term problems.
Thoroughly enjoyable, concise, understandable and, above all, effective. It is helping me with long term conditions by accelerating recovery I feel. All kinds of awesome!
Finally, I'm free of my sugar addiction thanks to this book! I've just been watching The Great British Bake Off and this is the first time in 10 or so years that I've watched the show without running to the cupboard for something sweet. I've spent years trying to break my sugar addiction, including having given it up for months several times, but every time I'd come back to it. I chose it as the first thing to work on with tapping, and after multiple rounds addressing multiple aspects over several days, I think I've finally gotten rid of my sugar problem.
What is so helpful about this book compared to videos and other books I've done on EFT is the clear explanations of how to tailor the process so that it works for you. In my case, doing the Eden Energy Medicine routine recommended in the book (and similar exercises contained in another book by the same authors, Energy Medicine) "unscrambled" my energies sufficiently so that tapping worked. When I've tried it several times before, I would get queasy and the tapping wouldn't really stick. Now I understand that that's partly because my energies were so scrambled from long-term chronic illness.
The other part of the book that has made tapping work for me is the explanation of "aspects". Before when I tried tapping, I didn't know that you could have multiple components to your problem that needed to be addressed via separate tapping sessions. For example, I had to address my resentment that I couldn't eat what "everyone else" eats, my fear that not eating sugar would mean social isolation, and my worry that I would be depriving myself of comfort. I did separate rounds for all of these.
In summary, an excellent book for tackling stubborn addictions, phobias (I'm tackling my fear of the dark next!), and even for implementing positive changes you'd like to make. I love all of Donna Eden and David Feinstein's work on energy medicine, but this book is one of my favourites.
This is an amazing book for truly understanding the amazing power of Emotional Freedom Tapping. You learn about it, why it works, and why occasionally it doesn't work--and how you can fix that. Donna Eden brings her own wonderful energy modalities in as well. It's easy to understand.
